  1. THE FULL STATEMENT OF JAMES FOLEY AS PER THE 3RD EDITION OF THE ISLAMIC STATES DIBAQ MAGAZINE
  2.
  3. My name is James Wright Foley and I am an
  4. American citizen. This is a message to the US
  5. government and people.
  6.
  7. The purpose of this message is not to appeal
  8. for my freedom. This is because many chances
  9. were given to my government and family to negotiate
  10. for my release, all resulting in failure on
  11. the part of my government and family.
  12.
  13. My captors have made many efforts to ensure
  14. a successful arrangement. From amongst these
  15. efforts is that they made strict conditions on my
  16. family and loved ones not to go to the media
  17. with my case.
  18.
  19. The reason for this condition was so that the US
  20. government could come to a quick and discreet
  21. arrangement and thus secure my release without
  22. having to face public embarrassment and
  23. openly oppose their practice of not negotiating
  24. with supposed terrorists.
  25.
  26. This proved very successful in the negotiations
  27. for some of my fellow prisoners who were citizens
  28. of European countries that openly share a
  29. similar “zero tolerance” view on negotiating with
  30. supposed terrorists.
  31.
  32. However, all said governments executed the demands
  33. for the release of their citizens while I and
  34. the other Americans hopelessly waited for selfish
  35. politicians who
  36. are void of any compassion to decide
  37. our fate.
  38. My fellow inmates and I were not captured simply
  39. to be killed or held inevitably for no reason.
  40. Just as many Muslims from Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia,
  41. Yemen, Libya and other Muslim countries
  42. are currently prisoners of the US government
  43. with many cases being of questionable legality
  44. according to US law, we, the American people are
  45. also victims of our government’s foreign policy.
  46.
  47. Our government, for the last 13 years has
  48. stretched our military around the Muslim world
  49. to interfere in their affairs. They have killed in the
  50. name of “preserving life,” tortured and raped in
  51. the name of “humanity,” destroyed in the name
  52. of “rebuilding,” and ruined the lives of millions of
  53. people. They have incurred a great debt of blood
  54. and wealth and it will be you and me, the average
  55. citizens, who will inevitably pay the price of their
  56. crimes.
  57.
  58. Today our government is continuing its onslaught
  59. on the Muslim lands once again with its aerial
  60. bombardments on some of the largest cities of
  61. Iraq, killing and wounding many.
  62.
  63. As I speak here before you, I call on you to wake
  64. up and take your lives and the lives of your children
  65. into your own hands. Do not allow yourselves
  66. to be pawns in the hands of politicians so
  67. they can decide whether you live or die!
  68.
  69. And remember, it could very easily be you in my
  70. place tomorrow!
  71. (This section onwards is on the James Foley video)
  72. I call on my friends, family and loved ones to rise
  73. up against my real killers, the US government,
  74. for what will happen to me is only a result of
  75. their complacency and criminality.
  76.
  77. My message to my beloved parents is, save me
  78. some dignity and do not accept any meager
  79. compensation for my death from the same people
  80. who effectively hit the last nail into my coffin
  81. with their recent aerial campaign in Iraq.
  82.
  83. I call on my brother John, who is a part of the
  84. US air force, to think about what he’s doing and
  85. how his work destroys the lives of many people
  86. including that of his own family.
  87.
  88. I call on you John, to think about whoever made
  89. the decision to bomb Iraq recently and kill those
  90. people, whoever they might have been. Think
  91. John. Who is it they really killed? And did they
  92. think about me, or you, or our family and how
  93. that decision is going to affect us?
  94.
  95. I died on that day John. When your colleagues
  96. dropped those bombs, they signed my death
  97. certificate!
  98.
  99. I wish I had more time. I wish I could have the
  100. hope of freedom and seeing my family once
  101. again. Unfortunately, that boat has sailed.
  102. Now all I can say is that I wish I were from some
  103. other country whose government actually cares
  104. about its citizens.
  105.
  106. I guess all in all, I just wish I wasn’t American.
