Tasked with the responsibility of marking and preventing crime in a different method, the Detective Bureau will perform a multitude of duties ranging from gathering information for Case Files as well as marked patrol. The division is headed by one Director under the direction of the Captain of Operations. DET members report strictly through their command unit in order to ensure the integrity of investigations, intelligence and information is maintained. Detectives are assigned to the division as opposed to a patrol, and therefore are permitted to conduct operations and case-files in any district at the direction of the Director.

 242.
 243.

Case Files are an essential aspect to the operations of the Detective Bureau. The division is a unit of qualified investigators that use logical and complex techniques to impact crime rates in a positive manner. There are always going to be acts of crime, it is inevitably the fact, offenders of the law should not be underestimated; majority of the key crime targets are the brains behind crime rather than being the principal offender who actually commits the crime. The criminals we intend to infiltrate and apprehend are often accessory to the crime, but don't misinterpret this, there are always the smaller targets to arrest before we can reach and gain intelligence on the bigger crime chain.
 244.
 245. We can use systems of analysis, planning and investigation to reach the goal of apprehension of the 'low key criminals', through the perception of being a normal civilian, but with a badge, known as a Detective. Through Case Files we can ensure that the required information is gathered and the proper operation is performed to get a positive result in the successful apprehension of Case File suspects.

 254.
The Case File must be created on a higher rating criminal. (( Level 5 and above ))
 255.
If the Detective has the chance to make an arrest before making a casefile, then they are to arrest the suspect, not make the casefile.
 256.
Suspect must have committed atleast 3 Crimes or else it will be put for open investigation.
 257.
Do not break the Entrapment Rule; You may offer to buy weapons from someone innocent, but the moment they say no then you must leave. If you continue to urge them to sell you a weapon then you will be violating the entrapment rule.
 258. It is preferred that you look for criminals that advertise out loud and/or wait until a criminal approach's you for a deal.

 281.
As you are collecting evidence on the suspect, you should attempt to communicate with them, to gain vital personal information from them. Examples of information are:

 297.
Once you have gathered all of the evidence and personal information, you are ready to identify the suspect. To identify the suspect, you must use evidence you have gathered and run it through the Mobile Database Computer. Examples of what you can use are below:
 298.
 299.

Facial Recognition - If the suspect's face isn't obscured, you can run their face through in Mobile Database Computer and see if you get any results.
 300.
Phone Number - If you gained a phone number, you can run it through the Mobile Database Computer and see if the phone owner of the result matches the face of the suspect.
 301.
Finger prints - If you obtained an illegal item from the suspect, you can run their finger prints through the Mobile Database Computer and see if you get any results. This method ONLY works if the suspect has been previously arrested. If they have a clean record then their name cannot be obtained through this method of identification.

 306.

Step 5 - Creating the casefile
 307.
After recognizing the suspect, you are able to create the casefile. Use this form and fill out all of the fields with the evidence and information you have gathered. You can check other Case Files to see if you are on the right track. Once you have submitted your casefile, you should wait for a Supervisory Detective or above to review it.

 313.
 314.

Numbering Case Files works by how many the division, as a whole has made. These numbers are to easily identify a Case File and help keep track of our Case Files to know specifically which Case File to talk about. Numbering a Case Files works as follows:
 315.
 316.

If someone creates a Case File with the number #023, and it's pending a Supervisor, Pending Arrest, Pending Warrant or Closed, and you want to make a casefile, your Case File number will be #024. The Case File number isn't to track what you are up to, but what we are as a division are up to.

 324.

Operations are something similar to Case Files, however, instead of leaving and creating a Case File you will end up exposing yourself as a Detective and arrest the suspect after a crime is committed. Detectives may perform stings on suspects that advertise that they are selling Illegal narcotics or Firearms. They can also perform Vehicle Burglary Bait Operations and assist the Special Weapons & Tactics division in apprehending Case File and Most Wanted suspects.

Where a member is a member of the Detective Bureau or Internal Affairs Division, is participating in a pre-approved plain clothes operation, or is of the rank of Captain, Commander, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief or Chief, that member may wear plain clothes in place of their uniform. Detectives may wear non-professional clothes during Case Files. 367.

Detectives who use a personal vehicle as an unmarked vehicle are required to use a vehicle which has four doors, appears professional and does not detract from the image of the department. It recommended to use the Detective Bureau's vehicles during Unmarked Patrol, we currently have several unmarked vehicles which are equipped with hidden light bars that we can activate. We have a Sultan, a Premier and an FBI Rancher available for our Detectives to use for Unmarked Patrol. Personal vehicles should not be modded with paint jobs and extremely bright colours when they are being used for Unmarked Patrol as you will be representing a bad image to the public.
