Facts About the K-On! Movie Flight

In the Ichiban Ippai intro Yui is playing hopscotch in the room, and the circles are character colour coded. It starts with red (Yui), then blue (Mio), then yellow and pink at once (Ritsu / Mugi), then teal (Azusa), then dark blue (must be Sawako), then green and orange at once (Nodoka / Ui), then finally light blue (Jun).

In the first angle it only shows the members of HTT, then in the second it shows everyone.

Their flight is Japan Airlines JL401, departing Narita International Airport at 11:45 from Gate 63 in Terminal 2. The aircraft is a Boeing 777, tail number JA735J.

This is in fact a real 777 operated by JAL, further info and pictures can be found online (a good one here: http://www.airliners.net/photos/airliners/4/3/5/2347534.jpg), showing it to be a 777-346/ER, serial number 32434/577. This aircraft (at least mainly) flies to the UK, France, and Germany. It correctly has the UNICEF logo near the tail, as all JAL aircraft do.

The aircraft is depicted in the "Tsurumaru" (Crane Circle) colour scheme used from April 1st, 2011 onward. This is an error, as the movie is set slightly over a year before JAL switched to the "Tsurumaru" colour scheme; before April 1st, 2011 JAL aircraft used the "Arc Of The Sun" colour scheme. Even if the movie were set just after it was released (early 2012) it would still be an error, as this particular aircraft wasn't repainted until some time mid 2013.

Given that the movie was released near the end of 2011 and the extreme attention to detail for the aircraft other than the colour scheme, and that Japan Airlines was clearly involved in this part of the movie, the company likely requested the "Tsurumaru" colour scheme be used.

Flight JL401 is also a real flight. JL401 departs from Narita International Airport's Terminal 2 in Tokyo at 11:45 AM, and has a scheduled arrival time of 3:25 PM at Heathrow Airport in London.
