Coffee Brogue install Windows

  1. Downloads
  2. 1. Create a folder on your desktop to store everything
  3. 2. Download Ubuntu LTS ISO and VirtualBox and place them into the folder
  4. a. Ubuntu LTS ISO download link:
  5. i. https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/thank-you?country=US&version=16.04.4&architecture=amd64
  6. b. VirtualBox download link:
  7. i. https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.8/VirtualBox-5.2.8-121009-Win.exe
  8. c. Note: Coffee Brogue will be downloaded within the virtual machine
  9. Installs/Setup
  10. 1. Run the VirtualBox installer
  11. a. Leave the features and install location as default
  12. b. Change options for shortcuts as desired (I leave desktop shortcut and file associations checked)
  13. c. Proceed with install.
  14. d. Accept any installer prompts
  15. e. Start VirtualBox
  16. 2. Set up the Virtual Machine for Ubuntu
  17. a. Click the “New” button
  18. b. For “Name” put “Ubuntu”
  19. c. Click next
  20. d. Allocate memory as desired (I do 2048MB)
  21. e. Create virtual hard disk
  22. i. VDI is fine
  23. ii. Dynamic is fine
  24. iii. (Optional) Click the small folder icon to put this file into the folder you created earlier
  25. iv. Default 10GB storage is fine
  26. 3. Installing Ubuntu
  27. a. Start the Ubuntu VM
  28. b. Click the folder icon and select the .iso Ubuntu LTS file you downloaded earlier
  29. c. Click start
  30. d. (Optional) Put this window fullscreen
  31. e. Once Ubuntu boots, select “Install Ubuntu”
  32. f. Check both Download updates and Install third-party software, click continue
  33. g. It will erase the VIRTUAL drive, so don’t be worried. Click Install now
  34. h. Click continue to the “write the changes to disks” prompt
  35. i. Change to your time zone, click continue
  36. j. Click continue
  37. k. Fill out your name/computer name/username/password as desired, click continue
  38. i. (Optional) click log in automatically
  39. l. Ubuntu will now install, this may take 5-10 minutes
  40. m. Once completed, at the menu bar at the top of the window, click Devices > Optical Drives. Select the .iso file if it isn’t already checked, then click remove disk from virtual drive. DO NOT do this until it says to remove the disk.
  41. n. Press enter and the VM will restart
  42. 4. (Finally!) Play the game!
  43. a. Download Coffee Brogue using Firefox

  46. ii. Note: you might not be able to copy/paste the link to the VM, and I haven’t been able to get copy/paste between windows and Ubuntu working, so you might have to just type in the link directly: https://kiazi.itch.io/coffee-brogue
  47. c. Save the file to your desktop (or downloads, but desktop is better)
  48. d. Navigate to the file, and right click it
  49. e. Select “Extract Here”
  50. f. Open up the folder it creates, then go into the “bin” folder
  51. g. Right click the white space in the folder with “brogue”, select “Open in terminal”
  52. h. Type “./brogue” and press enter
  53. i. Have fun! :D
