  3. Hey there, I'm having an issue with an octominer motherboard that I recently had delivered. I attempted to
  4. resolve it through the online chat, but they advised me to try tech support via email instead. Here is my issue

  27. seems like half the time I boot it the
  28. NIC works, half the time it doesnt

  33. note the kernel panic messages
  34. before the desktop loads, and the
  35. network icon in the top right that
  36. spins and never stops

  38. likewise the lights on the NIC itself
  39. are lit at the beginning, but right
  40. before ubuntu loads they go out and
  41. never come back on

  47. types of GPUs you are using on the
  48. rig, and whether the voltage was
  49. different between the outlets?

  89. I was using the three furthest from
  90. the CPU, so I moved them to the
  91. closer slots

  93. attempted to boot three times...one
  94. time worked, two times failed
  95. Hmm. Doesn't appear to be a power
  96. issue either. Could you please reset
  97. the CMOS? There is a blue jumper
  98. between the CPU and adjacent GPU
  99. slot. Power off the rig, switch the
  100. jumper, boot for 20 seconds, power
  101. off, switch back.

  105. I switched the jumper and powered
  106. on...the psu switched on but the
  107. board did not appear to do anything.
  108. I waited 20 seconds, powered off,
  109. switched the jumper back, and then
  110. the machine boot looped twice with
  111. nothing on the monitor. It boot
  112. looped again, showing the American
  113. Megatrends logo, then fully booted
  114. the next time through. The problem
  115. still persists.
  116. I'm sorry, but there are no further
  117. solutions I can offer and I am
  118. completely unfamiliar with this issue.

  132. Do you have any other ram sticks to try? What does the current one look like? Kernel panic can sometimes arise from
  133. either bad ram or ram that is not fitted well.
  134. Could you try a usb ethernet adapter as well?

  141. Afraid not, I only have the one I ordered. I did reseat it several times, however.
  142. I sometimes get 5 beeps on POST as well, if that means anything.

  148. 5 beeps on boot means it should boot ok.
  149. I'm guessing it's a ram issue. Would you be ok ordering another ram if we refunded you for this one?

  177. Still just the original problem with the network port...the vast majority of the time it seems to deactivate when the OS
  178. starts. Occasionally it stays on and works, but not often.
