  3. Morning looked up with a wry grin at the constant feel of his very panicky guardian angel on his shoulder. "C'mon bud, we've made it this far," he chuckled, reaching a hand up to squeeze Slim's... and then his smile disappeared into a curious pursing of his lips, looking at something behind Slim as the mountain very noticeably shook. "...hmm. Hey buddy, let's play a game. We're gonna get across this bridge and into that doorway as fast as we can, aaand... you're not going to look above you the entire time. Threetwoonego!"

  5. Slim *immediately lost that game, simoultaneously looking where Morning looked, and at the same time, he boosted forward, wings buzzing like a small, panicked helicopter. Looking over his shoulder, Morning would realize that exacerbating the changeling's jumpiness did the bug no favors. He'd seen shit man(edited)

  7. It got him across the chasm much quicker, which was enough for Morning as the volcano, suddenly deciding to throw a temper tantrum, chucked heaps of molten rock left and right with all the surliness of an old man telling them to get off his lawn... and if Slim allowed his imagination to play tricks on him, he might fool himself into thinking he saw bony claws just barely on the tip of the mountain's throat that would play into that theory quite well.

  9. Slim's imagination turned tricks on him faster than hookers when Sabot's in town, so an undignified and very girl squeal came out of him as he flew to the relative safety of the gate, dragging Morning behind him as fast as he could get the captain's legs to work. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeiiii!" He was likely never gonna live that one down, but right now he was happy to be living in the first place.
  10. Sax - 09/05/2017
  11. To be fair, Morning probably wasn't doing much better, the captain letting out a series of rapidly progressing louder and more panicked yelps as his partner in crime's grip on the nape of his neck tightened and he lifted wildly further and further away from the ground, soon depositing the captain through the doorway in a most undignified bowling ball impersonation and bringing him to rest with a loud THUD against... a bookcase. The glow of magma from somewhere deeper in the room that should have been nothing BUT magma was unmistakable, but so were the towering rows of scholarly texts. They were in a library.

  13. "Morning, next time you pick an island, if there's a volcano on it, I'm sailing the boat away without you. You can make a big fire when you need a ride back!" He said, standing up to help him up, before looking at the tomes with curiosity, reading a few titles with cursory glances... Where... where were they? Stepping around towards the source of the light, he began lightly exploring, hoping not to awaken whatever had claws and lived in a mountain.
  14. Sax - 09/05/2017
  15. "Yeah, no, that's fair," Morning harrumphed as he fell onto his side as a prerequisite to righting himself completely, head buzzing as he got to his feet and surveyed the situation-- Slim's fears, meanwhile, might be lightly relieved by the revelation that, yes, he was definitely still alive, but were he to look up to find out why the hairs on the back of his neck were inexplicably standing on end, he was being regarded by a skeletal drake with fire where eyes should have been.
  16. Blizzardofoz123 - 09/05/2017
  17. Oh hey, that's a new one. Said skeletal drake would see the unique sight of a changeling simoultaneously crying and shitting himself, Slim making a choking gagging sound as terror tried to escape his paralyzed body. He wasn't normally a scaredy cat. People, even supernatural ones, were in his control. You could fight them, and win. But this thing had made the fucking mountain erupt. You can't fight forces of nature... "Morning...." He managed to whisper, pointing shakily at their observer.
  18. Sax - 09/05/2017
  19. "Slim, I'm a little occupied right now, in case you hadn't notice--" The captain's grumbling was gone in a second, strangled in a small, choking squeak as he followed the changeling's gaze upwards to the... well, besides being terrifying by right of existing, fairly passive-seeming dragon.
  20. Blizzardofoz123 - 09/05/2017
  21. "....Hello?" He offered, figuring he was either toast or dinner, or some mixture of the two. "Are.... Are you gonna kill us?" The power of positive thinking at work
  22. Sax - 09/05/2017
  23. The earth-shaking, smoke-spewing snort wasn't an immediately translatable answer, but odds didn't seem to be good for them... until a fifth player joined the game, anyway. "You will do nothing of the sort, Azrael!" hollered... well, somebody from deeper in the library, the sound of scurrying footsteps easy to pick out as the dragon, for his part, contented himself with sulking and flicking his gaze over to whoever the newcomer was.
  24. fourth, not fifth
  25. Blizzardofoz123 - 09/05/2017
  26. "Oh thank merciful hive..." Slim said, visibly relaxing as he searched for whoever had said that. "Come on Morning, we need to go be very nice to whoever just told this thing to stand down." He said, before hollering back. "Thank you kindly stranger!" Trying to track the voice down, he edged further into the library, looking for whoever was the owner of the dragon quelling voice, his eyes on the beastly dragon like a hawk
  27. Sax - 09/05/2017
  28. "Oh, no need to thank me!" replied the supposed master of the house, who was definitely a unicorn skeleton in dusty old robes now shuffling around the corner and giving the two of them a friendly wave to the tune of a dusty wheeze escaping Morning's throat. "What's the point of having visitors when your dragon partner keeps scaring them all off, I swear."
  29. Blizzardofoz123 - 09/05/2017
  30. aaand back
  31. "... I've learned to sniff out disguises a long time ago Morning. I doubt, for some reason, that this is one." He said, before shaking his head and smiling... at least, he thought the skull was smiling. That may just be rictus. Extending a hand, he offered a handshake. "Slim and Morning Star, of the Starspark. It's good to meet you, mister..." He said, stretching it out as he fished for a name
