Examined:
Sewn from elegant, transparent silk, this gown is a tasteful
representation of high fashion and nobility. The high collar wraps
around the neck tightly at the base but flares slightly to allow ease of
movement and comfortable breathing. The front of the collar is opened to
artfully curve and frame the contours of the wearer's face, as well as
revealing the delicate sinew of the neck. A sweeping shoulder line leads
to princess sleeves, and darts around the armpit and waist accentuate
the bust without overly drawing attention. Once the garment passes the
hips, it ceases to cling to the body in a sheer drop to knee level. Long
feathers have been painfully stitched together to hide the wearer's legs
from sight, covering the body where the dress ceases and trailing behind
them in a sweeping train. The oily feathers are just as light as their
namesake but far more durable, spreading out like an inky pool against
the ground and only occasionally parting with the wearer's steps.
Reminiscent of the days of the Summer Court, circular patterns akin to
lotus pads adorn the dress in crimsons and gold.
