Sentence Splitter With the shutdown essentially over, Republicans finally return to business The business of screwing over the American people This is just another day Caving It's not just something that sends our blood pressure soaring and sometimes even leaves us stuck in an interminable suffering state of paralysis It's also a recreational activity But now that a handful of Democratic senators have handed Trump and the Republicans a win on their fight to take away healthcare, it's time to hear all about that GOP plan So, what would Trump care look like? >> Well, these are all ideas that we're still uh working on in part because until the government shutdown formally ends, we don't have all the people in the room uh who need to work on these programs. >> See, it's not their fault They don't have a plan yet It's a space issue Currently, there's only a certain amount of people permitted to be nestled in the protective warmth of Trump's colon But when the shutdown officially ends and that number expands, then they'll be able to get down to business And when that happens, that's when the real plan starts. >> Subsidizing the insurance companies is not the answer because it just drives the cost up even further So, we need to look at the root causes The Republican party is the party that is working on that, has been working on it, and has more ideas going forward We got to bring down the costs and you can do that in a responsible way that also increases access and quality of care And we've got we got notebooks full of ideas on how to do that. >> Ah, yes Notebooks full of ideas the distant cousin of binders full of women and the stepchild of flight logs full of girls Now, first off, Mike Johnson is lying The Republicans have nothing But also, let's say he isn't, which he totally is But if he isn't, we're supposed to be relieved that Republicans plan to fix our $5 trillion healthcare industry is being kept in a bunch of notebooks Thanks, Mike Why not put us more at ease by telling us that the whole solution is mapped out on your office in post-it notes The sad truth about the shutdown ending is that we are about to see a party built on one terrible policy after another start to actually try and operate again And when you have incompetent folks at the helm, we're going to be in some trouble This was a Democrat sabotage of the Trump economy that has brought record prosperity to the American people The Democrats, as President Trump has said, are acting as kamicazi pilots, trying to hurt America and to hurt Americans solely because they cannot stand how successful this administration has been Uh, I'm sorry, but your war analogy of a kamicazi pilot isn't exactly correct because Democrats are not flying the plane We are the ones on the tarmac trying to wave him off It is Trump in the cockpit flying the thing while enacting his policies And the result of his policies is that costs are surging, housing is still unaffordable, healthcare premiums are about to skyrocket, and inflation is on the rise Unless there's some ludicrous way to spin that it isn't, >> we're comfortable that inflation has come way down the 5% on average for Joe Biden It's probably a little less than half of that right now And the trajectory is really, really, really good if you look at it and and inflation is one of those things that has a lot of momentum if you look at the charts and the momentum right now is headed really towards the Fed's target >> even though even though it's been increasing for five straight months as of September >> why the discomfort in calling Kevin Hassidon on his that's why you're there are you sure what you're saying is accurate even though all the data points to the fact that you're lying out of your disgustingly sweaty And remember how Donald Trump said he was going to bring down the cost of housing? >> Housing costs are still out of reach And another thing that your administration is trying to tackle Yeah Your housing director has proposed something that has enraged your MAGA friends, which is this 50-year mortgage idea So, a significant MAGA uh backlash calling it a giveaway to the banks and simply prolonging uh the the time it would take for Americans to own a home outright Is that really a good idea It's not even a big deal. >> Yeah, what's the big deal So, Americans borrowing money would be on the hook for an additional $389,000 in interest over the life of a 50-year mortgage compared to a 30-year mortgage And now that Americans are 40 before they even buy their first home, a bank might be just a tad shy underwriting a loan that wouldn't be paid off until someone is 90, which should coincide nicely when they're finally old enough to run for president of the United States My god Tell me you don't care about Americans struggling with affordability without telling me you don't care about Americans struggling with affordability. >> You can't imitate gold Real gold There's no paint that imitates gold. >> So these aren't like from Home Depot or something? >> Immediately when the tax cuts were put in place, our revenue dropped like a rock. >> Because your muscles got too big from that shot of adrenaline. >> Dwayne Goen is a former Republican state legislator who served 12 years as budget director for three Kansas governors, Republican and Democrat income tax revenue, which was the main source of income for our state general fund, dropped about $700 million or about 25% We immediately went into a budget crisis, >> huh So, you're telling me that taking money away from something doesn't add more I guess it's my fault for not enrolling in that math class at Trump University Well, I'm sure they found a way to scrape together those extra funds >> to cover the gap Lawmakers first siphoned money from the state's rainy day fund, then went after transportation funding, but it still wasn't enough. >> Kansas school district scrambling to find ways to make up funding. >> The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has descertified Oswadami State Hospital. >> State lawmakers are now questioning how 70 foster kids can go missing. >> That was the local news soundtrack in Kansas from 2014 on While lawmakers went through budget cut after budget cut, >> Exactly They cut services Thanks to these massive tax cuts, state revenues plummeted by almost $700 million So they started cutting money from public schools, from Medicaid, and from higher education Sound familiar The idea that tax cuts, which provide people in power with exponentially more wealth, will somehow jolt our economy and everybody in it into economic prosperity is a total myth And we've seen it fail over and over and over again And the most insidious part of this Republican idea is that guys like Trump just don't care because by the time the wreckage has occurred and the public has wised up to that reality, they'll be long gone Or to put that another way, >> it's not even a big deal. >> Exactly Before you go, if you enjoyed this content and you want to see more and support independent media, please subscribe to this channel The subscribe button will be right here on the screen But second, the reality is that we are now in a political environment where this administration can lean on any of the social media platforms to suppress certain voices if they don't like critical coverage That means my longevity here is in the hands of a few tech billionaires who are already making it clear that they are willing to cater to this administration To that end, signing up for my newsletter is a way for me to reach you directly if that ever becomes necessary I'll put the link right here on the screen as well So, please sign up It's free, but there's also an option to do a paid subscription if you'd like to support me and my team I really appreciate it. venmo Venmo @Persona-Sight to donate in order to keep this site running ad-free
