Cindershard Red Jade Reaper Daiklave (Artifact 5) An elegant single edged blade, sheathed in obsidian and carved from one of Hesiesh’s fangs, freely given to one of the Solar Exalted in the First Age, Cindershard glows with intense heat and was thought to be lost. It has since been reclaimed by Sesus Righteous Lion, who wields the blade openly and fearlessly. Type: Medium Melee Weapon Tags: Artifact, Balanced, Paired Accuracy: +1 Damage: +2 Defense: +1 Overwhelming: 4 The Cindershard possesses an anima banner of its own. While the wielder is attuned to the Cindershard, successful withering attacks increase it’s anima by one. The sword begins each combat at Anima 1 when it is drawn, and can reach a maximum of Anima 10. The Cindershard receives the below bonuses based on anima. Anima Banner Bonuses do not stack. Anima 1-4: (Burning) The Cindershard’s red glow burns like a declaration of war. The Wielder adds (Essence) charm successes on rolls to inspire awe/fear Anima 5-9: (Blazing) The Cindershard blazes with intense heat and flames lance off of every slash. Attacks with the Cindershard may be made out to short range. Anima 10: (Bonfire) The Cindershard’s blade glows white hot as a dragon of flame seems to coil around the length of the sword. The Cindershard’s blows burn so hot and so furiously that they reduce metal to slag. On a successful attack, mortal weapons or armor are reduced to slag, at the choice of the ST. The wielder may attempt gambits at difficulty 3 to melt artifact weapons and armor. They are still usable, however they lose access to any evocations or attunement bonuses until repaired. Flame Drinking Edge Prerequisite: Close Combat 2, Sorcerous Initiation (For the purposes of focusing will) The Cindershard feeds on the flames of war. When building power and utilizing the Cindershard, the wielder may draw in a nearby source of flame automatically gaining an additional point of power and a level of anima on the Cindershard. This evocation may also be used during a focus will action to gain a single point of will and a level of anima for the Cindershard. Resonant: This evocation awakens at no cost for exalts resonant with jade. Searing Cinder Spray Prerequisite: Close Combat 3, Essence 2, Flame Drinking Edge The Cindershard’s swings are flecked with searing ash and flame, condemning its opponent to a fate as kindling. On Step 1 when declaring a decisive attack, Spend two levels of anima from the Cindershard, or two motes to add (essence) successes to the damage roll on step 6. If the exalt used their own motes rather than the Cindershard’s anima, increase the Cindershard’s anima by two levels. Recitation of the Inferno’s Wrath Prerequisite: Close Combat 4, Essence 3, Searing Cinder Spray Channeling the Exalt’s iconic display and fury along their blade, the Cindershard erupts into a burning cyclone of flame. On step 1, spend 1 mote, and 10 levels of the Exalt’s anima. This allows the exalt to make a decisive attack out to medium range, applying double 9’s to the damage roll, and striking all opponents in the path of their attack. This attack also sets their opponents ablaze for (Essence) rounds, dealing (Essence) dice of lethal damage, ignoring hardness. Dragon of the Immaculate Flame Prerequisite: Close Combat 5, Essence 4, Recitation of the Inferno’s Wrath Having reached the apex of their glory in tandem with the Cindershard, the Exalt draws the blade across their palm, stoking the fire within through the flames of the Cindershard. With a single swing, they unleash the burning fury of Hesiesh’s rage from within the sword and themselves. On Step One, the exalt pays a single mote and accepts an aggravated health level of damage, as well as 10 levels of their own anima, and 10 levels of Anima from the Cindershard. The Exalt adds (Essence) automatic successes to the attack and damage rolls, and doubles 8’s on the damage roll of a decisive attack against a single opponent, made out to medium range. This evocation may only be used once a story.
