Why do I read science fiction? I’m convinced most of life’s problems can be dispelled, at least temporarily, with an influx of cosmic wonder. Sorrow, pain, suffering, heartbreak — in my experience, lurid tales of lobster aliens with laser weapons almost always do the trick.
