https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJm5iOZu0oo Transcript: (00:00) We have some updates in the Epstein investigation Democrats have managed to call the bluff of former Attorney General Pam Bondi Congressman Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, filed a resolution to start civil contempt proceedings against her for failing to show up for an existing subpoena to testify in front of the committee. (00:21) Well, sure enough, Bounty now has agreed to come before the committee and set a date for May 29th that And now a second independent government agency, the Government Accountability Office, is investigating the Department of Justice's handling or mishandling of the release of the Epstein files That and the New Mexico investigation is ramping up with the truth commission. (00:45) They're hiring a private law firm to act as a special counsel My name is Dina Doll with the Midas Touch Network Let's get into this now Let's start with Pam Bondi first As we know, she was subpoenaed to come and testify Trump fired her shortly thereafter, and the Department of Justice tried to argue that her testimony was no longer warranted. (01:06) That the subpoena was issued to her as the attorney general And since she wasn't the attorney general, she shouldn't come and testify anymore Well, the Democrats decided to continue to push forward If it were not for the Democrats, Pam Bondi would not be coming forward to testify Now, there is a caveat here. (01:25) Whether or not she will continue to delay her testimony, we will wait and see But for now, it at least forced them to set a date There was precedent here, of course, because the Republicans tried to hold the Clintons in criminal contempt if they did not come to testify So, Pam Bondi could not be this exception as only the former acting or former attorney general. (01:48) But it's interesting because even Thomas Massie in a scoop basically to Midas Touch speaking to Scott McFarland seemed to pivot as to whether or not Pam Bondi's testimony was necessary anymore Take a listen. >> What happened next Trying to get Pam Bondi in here. >> Uh, you know, the guy that's pulling the levers is now the guy in the hot seat, which is Todd Blanch. (02:12) I don't think she was ever in the loop when she released the a binder is full of nothingness I don't think anybody told her it had nothingness in it. >> Thomas Massiey's comments were stunning because of course he and Roana really can be credited with the discharge petition and the release of the Epstein files altogether. (02:31) So for him to act like somehow her testimony wasn't relevant anymore when she was the attorney general out there saying first I have the files then there are no files and releasing binders that had nothing in it For him to say that somehow she was told there was nothing in it and believe there was nothing in it was worrisome As a lawyer, that made me very concerned that perhaps Thomas Massie is getting pressured to back off a little bit and perhaps this primary race is more difficult than even he is letting on. (03:03) Because the fact is Pam Bonnie has a lot of information She was directed or spoke to Did she direct Was she directed or spoken to by Trump, the president of the United States, who is in the Epstein files about whether or not to release it or how to release it or whether or not to redact him I mean, her information is crucial. (03:26) She was the one in charge of the investigation all those months and apparently lied to the American people Or if she didn't lie, she has to explain why she didn't lie Her testimony is crucial and the fact of the timing of her firing and then Melania coming out and saying that we need to hear from the survivors and then Trump coming out and saying that the survivors haven't testified under oath and so somehow they're not credible despite the fact that the testifiers have actually testified to law enforcement penalty of perjury They (03:56) testified in civil depositions penalty of perjury The person who hadn't testified was his former attorney general Pam Bondi who as a lawyer may not be so willing to lie like Cash Patel So this Pam Bondi testimony, whether or not goes forward to May 29th, I think is a wait and see moment because I think that the Trump regime is very concerned about what she is and not willing to say. (04:23) In the meantime, however, we have bipartisan push actually Senator Marowski joining with Senator Marky to have the GAO, the government accountability office, which is a part is the agency, the investigative independent agency from the legislative branch to look into the Department of Justice to look into how redactions were made, whether or not they comply with the law, the Epstein transparency act, whether or not the release of the files comply with the law or which ones were not released comply with the law Now, the person in charge (05:02) of that is an acting comproller This is normally this position is appointed for 15 years, then replaced, but this person has not been replaced So, this acting comproller right now is not a Trump appointee It is not somebody who was actually put forward by the Senate as a short The how they normally get appointed is the Senate comes up with a short list. (05:29) The president picks one of them and then the Senate confirms it That's what happened to the prior one But that person's term, it's a 15-year term expired And so the new controller has been there 35 years and is not an appointee at all So perhaps we will have some independent oversight Of course, we know this is also in addition to the Department of Justice Inspector General basically doing the same type of investigation and the two government agencies have said they will not duplicate their work. (05:58) Let's just point out there here though for one second how disturbing it is that we now had to have two separate agencies investigate what seems to be rampant failure by our justice department to follow a law of Congress after years and years and years of law enforcement failing survivors I mean we have how long ago the farmer sisters spoke out to law enforcement how many years this has been ignored and even with a congressional law, the Department of Justice failing in real time for us all to see either releasing the victim's names of redacting names (06:39) that shouldn't be redacted and withholding files So much so that there's even a bipartisan support to get it investigated So, this is the state of affairs Again, Democrats continuing to push on and some sane Republicans following along in order to try to get some justice and some accountability for the survivors. (07:03) Of course, we just um the the that we just passed the 1year anniversary of the death of Virginia Duprey and many people really honoring her for can bringing the the what happened to her to light so many times And she of course spoke in her book about how traumatic it was, the number of times she had to tell her story, how traumatic it was. (07:26) And this is why it's so disturbing that Trump is asking for the survivors to speak again because they have spoken so many times They shouldn't have to retell their trauma story so many times before the existing files and documents are released If after that they are called upon to testify in court in a criminal proceeding, I'm sure they are happy to, but the survivors really speaking out in response to Trump's press conference that they have done that already and the burden shouldn't lay on them when the DOJ already has so many files and then (08:03) in New Mexico hiring this private law firm to become the special counsel planning on interviewing collecting evidence for the truth commission that was set up there Now they plan on putting forward a report to the legislative body the end of July and wrapping up the commission by the end of this year. (08:29) So, a rather speedy process for their investigation of what happened at Zoro Ranch by Epstein in New Mexico And evidently, there are survivors of abuse that happened in New Mexico stepping forward in New Mexico there uh one of the centers for handling sex abuse said that in 2019 quite a bit of people had come forward saying that yes they had been abused by Epstein in New Mexico but hadn't filed police reports at the time. (09:00) So they are now trying to determine who the survivors are, who is willing to come forward, collect that evidence, really investigation there by this private law firm because the truth commission wants this to be something that can be used as evidence if they plan on going forward with any criminal proceedings for co-conspirators and them speaking out, the truth commission speaking out, having that be their goal. (09:25) So although Trump is trying to distract us from the Epstein files, in many ways, work is being done by Democrats, by New Mexico to continue to find transparency and this really, you know, push back by the Department of Justice, the president, so many departments with power, this push back, but Democrats trying to get accountability, trying to push for transparency.
