  6. Primrose was a typical girl, though she had always been shy around the other children her age. At the age of fourteen she began to show signs of a natural skill with the arcane arts and her parents knew that she would end up happier if she received proper training to develop her talents. Her family traveled from town to town with a small band of merchants looking to sell their wares and various oddities they had found in their travels. Her father did some adventuring in the past, but he felt that retiring was the sensible answer when a family came into the picture. Primrose didn't have much interest in magic, but she did wish to see her family happy so she reluctantly accepted their decision.
  7.
  8. After what seemed like an eternity of travel, she arrived to a small village nestled in a secluded valley. She had traveled with another troupe of merchants, but she was rather happy to finally be in a more stable environment. Primrose never truly enjoyed the nomadic lifestyle and felt that settling down in a permanent residence would have been sublime. The small village was everything she had hoped it would be, and she was especially excited to meet the elderly mage she was to be training with. She gazed out at the mist creeping through the valley and smiled to herself, for the first time in her life she actually felt good about the way things were going.
  9.
  10. Baldmil the Incisive Scholar was the mage Primrose was sent to study under, he was a rather gruff and grumpy man. Baldmil had little love for Primrose and felt the only reason to teach her was so that she would not cause problems as her powers matured. Baldmil stressed the importance of discipline and subtlety in the use of arcane magic, he always told her to focus on restraint. Primrose was rather gloomy for a good portion of her stay, she did become used to the punishments. She was often locked into a small dark study when she misbehaved, because Baldmil felt it would strengthen her discipline.
  11.
  12. As time went on she began to have more and more difficulties when it came to restraining the magical energies flowing through her small frame. Baldmil did his best to guide her, but fate had other plans. Early morning near the beginning of the Winter season a darkness descended on the valley in the guise of a gigantic orcish warband. On the other end a small army of gray dwarves emerged from the mountains, both armies descended on the village in an attempt to gain control of the insignifigant valley. The two armies clashed in one glorious and bloody battle with little care in who they killed in the process. Baldmil had sealed Primrose into her punishment room when he found out about the armies, he left to gain aid in fighting off the invaders.
  13.
  14. Many days had gone by when the magical seal wore off, Primrose emerged in a rather starved state. The food in Baldmil's pantry had spoiled, but she still ate some out of sheer desperation. She was scared to leave the house due to the instructions she was given, but she had to find out what had happened. She slowly crept out of the house only to be met with a rather grim sight, the village looked like something out of a nightmare. The once quaint streets were dyed red with blood and littered with bodies from the armies as well as many of the townsfolk. Primrose shivered slightly in the icy air, she looked up in the sky only to be met with dreary clouds overhead, she went back inside to hide from the cold.
  15.
  16. What seemed like ages passed as the horrid winter crept further into the valley leaving Primrose with little food. She sat quietly in the corner, trying to keep herself warm, but it had little help in pushing away the gnawing hunger. She had kept a diary since it seemed to be the only thing that took her mind off the hunger, the cold, and the crushing lonliness.

  18. Winter 9- Woke up this morning, fire had gone out and I was freezing. Took a short walk to try and find some food but no such luck, ate some more of the rotten food, making attempt to ration. I fear going outside, seems unnatural, can't shake horrible feeling of being watched.
  19.
  20. Winter 10- Cold..... spent this morning finding firewood, could only scrounge up a few wet scraps... I can't go into woods
  21.
  22. Winter 12- I fell and hurt my arm, but I suppose I lucked out that it was not my good arm... the cold seemed to let up a bit so I tried to dig up some roots to eat, but the ground was already frozen.....
  23.
  24. Winter 13- I went to some of the neighboring houses to see if there were any others hiding, or any food... its cold again... my arm really hurts....
  25.
  26. Winter 16- haven't written... so hungry... so cold... my arm is looking bad... I can't go outside... I had bad dreams last night and this morning I swore I saw something walking around outside...
  27.
  28. Winter 20- Slept away most of the day... only woke up to tend to the fire... the villagers offered their help... but I didn't let them in...
  29.
  30. Winter 26- Its so cold... why are they walking around... why do they talk to me... I hate them so much...
  31.
  32. Winter 27- the nice villagers showed me a stockpile of preserved food... they are so nice to me...
  33.
  34. Winter 33- The villagers don't talk to me as much, but I have begun exploring the valley.... found some magic sticks on the bodies of the bad men... took a few home...
  35.
  36. Winter 38- Read in books what the magic sticks are... most of it was in draconic... but I think they are made for necromancy...
  37.
  38. Winter 40- Cold... the sticks don't help much... but at least I have the preserves to eat for now....
  39.
  40. Winter 42- I went out to find some animals to hunt... maybe get some fresh meat in my stomach... but I couldn't find any animals... nothing but dead bodies... the villagers left... I don't know if they will be back... my arm hurts so much... its so cold...
  41.
  42. Winter 45- I saw Baldmir... but he had no eyes... the villagers are talking to me but I can't see them... just stop.... the preserves are nearly gone... I found more meat laying about... it tastes terrible but at least it's something...
  43.
  44. Winter 72- Baldmir removed his head and taught me how to use the sticks... the people outside got back up... its nice to have friends... villagers still won't silence themselves... I hate them again...
  45.
  46. Winter 95- According to Baldmir's books Spring season is almost here... its been warmer... my arm has started to feel a little better...
  47.
  48. Spring 3- People came into the village and started killing my friends... I hit one of them with a rock...... I hit his head until it turned red and sticky... he gurgled sometimes... so I curled up next to him and took a nap... he was nice and warm....
  49.
  50. Spring 5- More people have come... Baldmir was with them... but that was impossible because I saw him during the winter... and he had no eyes... they say I'm sick... I'm going to see the city and I even get to visit the grand chapel of Pelor....
  51.
  52. Primrose was found by Baldmir and a small squad from the church of Pelor, she was sufferering from malnutrition and seemed to have been poisoned by necromantic magic. Later investigation found the valley to be badly corrupted, explaining Primrose's condition and the presence of many undead. The trip to the city was dull and boring, but at least she was able to eat some yummy rations. Primrose was unsure why the soldiers kept her at arms length, she smiled at them because they reminded her of Mister Gurgles. After several weeks of travel they entered the gates of the vast city, Primrose stared out at all the people.
  53.
  54. Spring 23- We made it to the city... so many people... they are so loud it hurts my ears... I hate it... the church was pretty... but the men in funny clothes were mean to me and kept asking me questions... they hate me........... but its ok.... I hate them more....
  55.
  56. Spring 24- They said I can't leave... the men in the funny clothes said I'm dangerous... so I bit one of them... now I can't leave my room.... its so quiet...... I hate it.... I want to talk to my friends from the valley... the villagers will miss me...
  57.
  58. Spring 34- I got tired of waiting in my room and eating yucky food so I squeezed out of the bars and hit the guard in the head... he was asleep so I took his eyes out and put them in my pocket... I'm saving them for later... I snuck out into the city... there are lots of places to hide... small cracks and places to hide... they can't find me... I hear them looking... I see the fear in their eyes...... one of my friends from the village came to visit me... hes nice....
  59.
  60. Spring 37- Found a nice place to hide in the graveyard... my friend told me to hide there... its nice... but I'm hungry again... the eyes wern't as tasty as I thought they would be...
  61.
  62. Spring 40- My friend flew out and found me someone to play with... my friend is nice like that... he lives inside me during the day... he brings me people to play with... I cut them up and ate them... I saved their eyes... maybe they taste better if they are a different color.....
  63.
  64. Spring 67- Same old same old... many friends have come to play... I like taking off their skin... they look funny without it... we found an old stone building in the middle of the graveyard to hide in... I found lots of shiny preasents inside... I look really pretty now with all the shiny stuff I found in the stone beds....
  65.
  66. Primrose had become somewhat of a local legend, parents told horror stories to their children about the shadow monsters that would take them in the night. Near the end of Spring the church had figured out that the shadow monster was actually their escaped necromancer. Vince the Pure a paladin of Pelor was put on the case to track Primrose down and kill her in the most discreet way possible. Vince tracked Primrose down, he cornered her in the main mosoleum.
  67.
  68. Primrose stared at the rather pompous looking paladin, he rambled on and on about 'abominations in the eyes of pelor' and 'a sickening monster that is unfit to the most honorable deaths'. Primrose sat and stared with empty eyes as he raised his mace and beat her body into a bloody mess, she sighed softly and attempted to speak, but no words came out. She hurt so badly, and she feared her stash of eyes had been crushed in the beating. Vince said something about 'dying in a place fitting of her crimes' and closed the chamber. Primrose crawled to the door and tried to open it, but it was sealed shut.
  69.
  70. Primrose sat with her back agaisnt the door, hunger began to set in and her friend was unable to help her. She tried opening the door many times, she even tried to claw it open. Her stomach hurt she was so hungry, her fingers hurt the most. The door to the chamber was marked and stained red from her attempts to dig her way free, she spent much of the time sleeping, it was hard to breath. She sat in the dank darkness, her hunger and pain became nothing as she slid slowly onto her back, her dull green eyes stared at the ceiling. She could see all of her friends, staring back at her as she slowly fell to sleep, never to awaken.
  71.
  72. The soft sound of something dragging echoed throughout the mausoleum, something was scraping and dragging it's way through the labyrinth of death. Primrose gasped softly, her lungs did little, it was more out of habit. Her piercing emerald eyes gave off an almost unearthly glow as she rose to her feet and made her way into the night air. She was born anew, she had been blessed by some sort of being and was able to make her way out of her prison. She stared at the ghastly claws on her only usable hand, her fangs glistened in the night, she was still hungry.... and there were so many tasty people out there...
