  1. Can high speed rail can speed up the british economy?
  2. the guvernment thinks so
  3. Its giving the green light to build an 149mi line from London to Berninum in the middle of England
  4. cutting the 1h45min trvel time almost in half
  5. Though il will take more than a decade to complete just the first phase
  6. supporters says it will be 50B+$ well spent
  7. It would provide the capacity the passengers need
  8. it would provide the connectivity the major cities need
  9. it would provide the speed getting betwin those cities that [the] country needs
  10. it would also create thejobs growth and prosperity that Britan needs in the future too
  11. High speed rail is far form an easy vote getter
  12. critics says that it would be cheaper to upgrde existing lines
  13. and that the enviromental benefits are at best neutral
  14. the conservetives lead gouvernment even {faces} a revolt from some of its own wealthy voters
  15. especially those whose back yard would be home to part of the line
  16. Its about wether this is the right thing to do for UK PLC
  17. and we think it's not the right ting to do for UK PLC at a time of national austerity
  18. the US congress killed white house plans for [a] high speed rail
  19. {siding} costs and economic benefits
  20. But unlike the US, Britan already has a high speed rail line
  21. Eurostar uses it for trains to and from Paris and Brussels
  22. Europeans are quite uset to bullet trains
  23. as are the japanese
  24. and even more recently the chinese though there has ben safty concerns in China
  25. gouvernment see mega transport infrastructure projects as 1 big way to repair economic malaise
  26. large project meens a large amount of money spent,
  27. jobs created temporarily at lesat
  28. and than temporary jobs means money in people's {pocket}
  29. and than they strt spending and the economy hopefully {revives} again
  30. so it's been done many times
  31. As part as Virgin empire Richard Branson operates a fast train line in the UK
  32. And he's worried [that] the 2nd high speed line or HS2 will siphon all the ca$h
  33. Our trains are capable [of] going 30 [to] 40mph quicker
  34. and we will like improvements to the tracks
  35. and we would hate it if all this money went in to HS2
  36. witch is not gonna (going to) benefit people for 10-15 years time
  37. Britan equates high speed rails to the buildng to the highways
  38. saying its time to replace Victorian era lines for people and for goods
