  26. Warning labels provide crucial information that protects and informs consumers and workers when using products. Construction work is a field where it is particularly important for warning labels to be accurate and clear, because the equipment construction workers use is often large, heavy, and dangerous. Clear warnings on construction and electrical equipment allows workers to be safe and to use their tools and equipment in the correct way, while making them aware of any particular hazards associated with a specific product.
  27. Construction workers are consistently among the most at-risk group of workers for injury or death on the job (nancy a stout). Among construction workers contact with electrical current is the fourth leading cause of death, and arc flash or blast accounts for 31 percent of total on-job injuries for construction workers.
  28. Warning labels are used on a variety of products, from household items and cleaners, to cigarettes, to construction equipment. As these warnings are intended to protect consumers, and specifically to warn them of dangers that the manufacturer is already aware of which are associated with their product. Therefore, manufacturers are morally, and often legally, obligated to make their warning labels clear and effective at conveying potentially life-saving information to the consumers of their products.
  29. Considerable research has been done to see which warning labels are most likely to affect the way that people use products. Specifically, there is an abundance of research on which labels and warning methods are most effective for dissuading dangerous cigarette and alcohol use.
