  1. NAME: Aero
  2. AGE: 16
  3. GENDER: Male
  4.
  5. LOOKS: He's skinny, wiry and short, malnutrition having taken its toll on his growth. Otherwise pale and unremarkable, he's sewn an enormous quantity of pockets onto his clothing, and uses these to transport anything interesting that he finds; he's also embedded rocks into his shoes to give them more traction, allowing him to climb walls and slopes more easily. His long hair is a dark, mousy brunette color and his eyes are yellowish-brown, his face otherwise hollow and unhealthily pale.
  6.
  7. PERSONALITY: Unfailingly optimistic, which is probably the main reason that many of his peers have taken it upon themselves to steal his food, his belongings, and on occasion even beat him up. Instead of playing games, he spends time trying to figure out how things work and why, beginning right from childhood when he discovered that hair floated and rocks did not. He enjoys his solitude, though if anyone asks him about his interests he is happy to talk to them until they stop being willing to listen; communication, at least the listening aspect of it, is not something that comes easily to him, though he's kind and means well. The main thing, however, that gets him labeled as 'crazy' or 'insane', is an unfailing, unjustifiable belief that the 'surface' spoken of in myth and legend exists.
  8.
  9. WHAT'S BEEN KEEPING HIM MOVING?: The aforementioned optimism, and a singleminded, stubborn determination to figure out how things WORK. Be they people, objects, or even words, he is unfailingly curious about the natural world and everything in it. Granted, he doesn't know much about people; the approach he takes to studying the world, which is repetitive testing, tends to not work so well with humans, but this has hardly deterred him despite the mockery and beatings he's endured. It simply rolls off his back; there's always more to find out, and getting angry or mad about things is just a waste of time that could be spent doing something more interesting.
  10.
  11. WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO HIM?: Aero's just figured out the basics of friction, discovering that when two objects rub together, they create heat; hands, rocks, anything. This has excited him beyond measure, because while everyone knows how to rub their hands together and possibly even make fire, this is something no one has even ever considered. He's never going to be cold again! All he needs is a rock and a surface to rub it against, and he has a source of heat. Of course, further experimenting is required. As always. But it's still very, very exciting.
  12.
  13. WHAT'S ON THE SURFACE?: A lazy, easily distracted boy who lives too much in his own head and too little in the world outside of it, playing with rocks, sticks, and water when he could be doing something more useful; anything more useful. He can weave, and sew, but he rarely indulges these things unless he needs something for his experiments. When he works, it is reluctantly, and he isn't given much food except on those rare days where the work engages his interest. Whenever he isn't needed, he's at his strange tricks again, and can often be heard laughing to himself over something that would take hours to explain to someone who isn't him.
  14.
  15. WHAT LIES BENEATH?: Aero's determined to prove that he's not worthless, but the way the underground works is so boring and uninteresting to him that he just as often considers his peers' opinions of him worthless. His parents don't pay him much mind, except to make him work, and deep down his antics are, at least in part, a way to draw attention to himself; some attention, any attention, rather than just being another complacent face in the crowd. Aero craves recognition and appreciation, and to him, if that recognition comes in the form of a laugh, an insult, or an admonition, he's still happy, because at least he knows he exists. He's grown used to not being liked, but he wouldn't be able to stand for being ignored.
  16.
  17. FIGHT/FLIGHT RESPONSES: Fight/Flight/Flight
  18.
  19. EXHAUSTION TALENT: Invention; given the bare necessities, Aero is capable of constructing simple machines, usually consisting of levers, ramps, or pulleys. He has a particular talent for the ways in which these simple mechanics interact, and can, with enough time, construct devices capable of, for example, dumping a bucket of water onto someone's head if a string is pulled. Unsurprisingly, he enjoys playing pranks with this talent of his, and his skill as a weaver gives him ready access to string and wool, materials that he has an almost religious reverence for.
