  1. 105. Angel Starr (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)
  2. http://www.toastersix.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/reference.jpg
  3. There was definitely some competition for the bottom spot on this list, but Angel Starr just has too many things I wouldn't want from a waifu. She fits the definition of a tsundere, but I'd say she leans more towards having a split personality. She often flips to her "tsun" mode with little provocation, and it honestly gets annoying. Add to that the fact that she really gets around. She's probably the most loose woman on this list by far, and has multiple boyfriends. Would you want to share your waifu? I would not.
  5. However, unlike many of the "eh" waifus that will appear above Angel, she does actually have some positives, though not enough to offset the negative. Her "dere" mode is quite pleasant, and she can make a mean bento. Though if she's in "tsun" mode, expect to have fish gut meals forced on you.
  7. it took me this long to realize she has rice balls on her hat. . . : |
  9. 104. Belle (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers)
  10. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090606161041/finalfantasy/images/9/98/Ffcc-tcb_character_bell.jpg
  11. I was really trying to like Belle - she's cute and voiced by Laura Bailey after all. But when it comes down to it everything she does in the game is fueled by selfish motivations. She constantly talks about how she can "handle it solo" because she's a Selkie. When traveling with the main character Layle, she expresses little thanks when he helps her or saves her life, and frequently tries to steal his stuff. Yep, she's a kleptomaniac too.
  13. Does she end up softening later on and falling in love with Layle? More like she repeatedly accuses Layle of having a crush on her, which he denies. Not exactly the type of waifu I'd like.
  15. 103. Rose Nylund (The Golden Girls)
  16. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100305000702/goldengirls/images/9/9f/RoseNylund1.jpg
  17. All I knew previously about this series is that it was an 80's sitcom featuring old ladies. So here's Rose, portrayed by Betty White. There's a certain novelty in having Betty White as a waifu, which is the biggest positive I can give her. Other than that, well. She's in her mid to late 60s, and looks like your average grandmother. Add to that the fact that she's not all there in the head. Usually that would be a positive (I mean more the Cloud Cuckoo Lander trope here), but for a character this old, she probably just has dementia.
  19. At the very least she's not unattractive, and quite kind and caring. I might have even moved her up a few slots if she was good at baking (grandma stereotypes ftw).
  21. 102. Shiho Miyano / Ai Haibara (Detective Conan)
  22. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130831115103/detectivconan/images/d/d7/Ai-shiho-42a98226cffc1e1761aea9e74b90f603728da977381231ee.jpg
  23. You know, the art style in DC doesn't make Shino look too flattering. Her head is literally bigger than the entire rest of her body.
  25. Anyway, I can't really say I like Shiho. She spends most of her time giving dramatic exposition, or verbally abusing Conan. I completely agree with the assessment of Shiho that Conan himself provides, that she is a "tsundere that fails the 'dere' part'". Her abusive and snarky personality is definitely justified though, due to a tragic backstory and being on the run from The Organization. That said, I found no evidence of Shiho treating anyone besides her own sister (and some random dog) decently at all.
  27. Positives? Well I suppose her adult form is very attractive. She also has the hot scientist thing going for her in her adult form, which is always a plus. And hypothetically, if freed from some of the pressures that she's under, I could see Shiho becoming more honest and actually treating people nicely from time to time. But I shouldn't need to make up hypothetical situations to make a waifu better, ever.
  29. 101. Tara Grimface (Lost Kingdoms II)
  30. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/scale_small/8/87790/2243858-box_lking2.png
  31. Just what kind of a name is Grimface?
  33. There's really not a lot to work with here. Tara is a silent protagonist with no real established personality. She's probably a gentle, caring type of person (though obviously capable of kicking butt). She's quite attractive too, but I have to say the in-game graphics do her no favors. Such huge hands. But when we have so little to go on personality-wise, yeah, I can't rank her higher than this.
  35. 100. Leo Kliesen (Tekken)
  36. http://www.fightersgeneration.com/np2/char1/br/leo-br.jpeg
  37. Even though I haven't played a Tekken game in a really long time, I can still name most of the characters. I had no idea who Leo was though. As far as I can tell, being androgynous and being motivated by her mother's murder is literally her entire established personality. She's got a bit more in the comic series, but all that does is make you question whether she's manipulative, or loyal to a fault based on her temporary employment under Lili.
  39. Leo certainly isn't unattractive though, and the androgynous look has its merits. But she's dressed like a cross between Axel from Streets of Rage and a Kingdom Hearts fan character. Just. . . ugh. The best thing I can say about her. . . spelunking would be a pretty awesome thing to do with a waifu. She'd ultimately need more personality than she has now, and a major design overhaul to really rank higher than this.
  41. 99. EDI (Mass Effect)
  42. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/11/112562/2519517-mass_effect_edi_reveal.jpg
  43. I haven't actually played any Mass Effect games, but I do know a lot of the characters simply from being on B8. That didn't stop me from thinking I'd have to rank an ship AI when EDI was first nominated.
  45. However, she doesn't get the benefit of having a human-like face and a non-robotic voice like some other robot girls on this list. She's curvy and attractive, sure, but she's still dangerously close to being a walking toaster. Personality-wise, as far as I can tell, she's basically trollbot 2.0. She could definitely be fun to be around, but her voice is still more emotionless and robotic (from what I've seen) than GlaDOS. It's really tough for personality to shine through when you can't express emotion through speech, imo. Unlike a certain Samantha, her voice does not arouse me.
  47. And I admit it - if her face was a little more human-like, I'd rank her higher.
  49. 98. Therese / Jeanette Voerman (Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines)
  50. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101224160543/v__/vtmb/images/7/7e/MTS2_Slipslop_1051224_real.jpg
  51. For some reason it's considered spoilers that these two are in fact the same person.
  53. Basically Therese and Jeanette consider each other sisters, but they are in fact two personalities that share a body. Therese is the original personality, and Jeanette was born out of a neglectful childhood. Therese (on the left in the pic) is very uptight and proper, while Jeanette is friendly and outgoing, but more than a little immoral.
  55. Therese and Jeanette bitterly fight with each other in the game, but you can ultimately get them to make up. Even assuming they make up with each other, having both personalities as a waifu isn't an idea I'm fond of. You would have to balance affection between the 2 and not show favoritism, which would be tough for me since I just plain don't like Therese. Seeing as Therese is the main personality, that would be problematic. And in-game, the girls will still be willing to turn on you if you reveal their nature to anyone.
  57. I may be reading too far into this, but I want to stay away from this mess.
  59. 97. Emma Frost (X-men)
  60. http://images.alphacoders.com/181/181681.jpg
  61. Even I think I'm a little crazy for ranking Emma so low. But the bottom line is, no matter how hot Emma is drawn, her personality is all over the place. In some ways personality changes and retcons are simply part of comics, but Emma has had it pretty bad. Even if I ignore her early days as a sociopathic villain, she's still prone to psychic torture and occasionally flat-out murder. Her reputation as an ice queen is something I can't ignore either. Even at her nicest moments, she can be rather cold and vain. A few writers tried to focus on her tragic backstory and defrost her a bit, but alas, her character development was retconned away.
  63. That's not to say she can't be affectionate from time to time - she did manage to stay in a relationship with Cyclops for 10 years after all. But there was probably a ton of turmoil in there as well. All in all, I'd rather have a waifu who isn't quite as cold, and won't invade my mind.
  65. 96. Zola (Blue Dragon)
  66. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111113035138/bluedragon/images/d/dd/Bdas-zola2.jpg
  67. I still have no idea why she's dressed as a pirate. I never see her pirating.
  69. While I admit to not caring all that much for Blue Dragon's art style, the main reason Zola is ranked so low is due to her voice (and just plain not having an interesting personality). Everything she says in the game just sounds so apathetic and almost void of emotion. Her motivations for her questionable actions in the game are also barely touched upon. She's a kind person at heart, but there's just too much left up in the air with her.
  71. For me, Zola is a character I just don't feel strongly about either way. But we'll get to the waifus I actually like before too much longer.
  73. 95. Konata Izumi (Lucky Star)
  74. http://www.absoluteanime.com/lucky_star/konata.jpg
  75. Even I wasn't expecting Konata to rank all the way down here, but there is just a literal truckload of negatives with her. Yeah, she's probably the biggest lover of anime and general Otaku stuff out there. But the fact of the matter is. . .
  77. Literally every other character in Lucky Star is cuter than her. Not to mention most of the characters have Otaku interests too, just not as extreme as Konata's. Also, Konata is probably the least feminine girl on this list by far (perhaps Leo rivals her). Not that I'm biased against tomboys or bishoujo, but even the biggest tomboys have SOME moments where they show femininity. Konata meanwhile plays eroge and acts suggestively towards her friends in the show. Due to her tendency to insert her Otaku obsessions into real life, she sees this as a way to "trip event flags" like in a visual novel.
  79. The only way I could see Konata being a good waifu is if you are as obsessed with anime and h-games as she is. You certainly won't experience much of a dull moment with her, though.
  81. 94. Nio Hashiri (Akuma No Riddle)
  82. http://www.animemage.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Akuma-no-Riddle-Anime-Mage-04-e1397724821756.jpg
  83. Nio is a character with a secret. . . that hasn't been revealed yet. As such, much of what I'm ranking Nio on is speculation.
  85. What we do know about Nio? She acts friendly and trollish normally, and has a really cute : 3 face, but she really needs a new hairstyle. It's obvious that this is a cover for her true colors. She acts as the arbitrator for Class Black and takes great pleasure in enforcing the rules of the academy. . . through murder.
  87. The only hint I really found as to her secret is the fact that another student freaked out upon seeing Nio's bare chest (too bad, they don't show what she saw). My guess would thus be that Nio is a robot or android of some kind who is programmed to carry out the insane rules of the academy while keeping an eye on the Class Black students.
  89. It's just too easy to see Nio's true nature as being a complete monster, masked by her playful farce. I can't trust anyone who has an evil Chesire Cat grin.
  91. 93. Nikea (Suikoden V)
  92. http://moe.animecharactersdatabase.com/uploads/chars/6186-732376166.png
  93. Nikea is a strange character. I don't flat out dislike Nikea, but there are some weird things going on with her. She has a cute face, and the body of an Amazon. I just don't think it works. Her voice acting (which is only heard in battle to my knowledge) is pretty awful too.
  95. Her personality is just fine, despite lacking more than a bit in the brains department. I feel kind of shallow for ranking her so low based mostly on looks and voice acting, but it just kind of ruins what potentially could have been great waifu material. And I usually like girls who pack a punch too. . .
  97. 92. Miriel (Fire Emblem: Awakening)
  98. http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-Myriel_FE13_Artwork_9393.jpg
  99. I like nearly all of the girls in this game a lot. Miriel. . . is one of the few I don't care for. She only gets this far due to her hot witch look, and being voiced by Tara Platt. But her personality is mostly just annoying. She does a lot of questionable or just plain idiotic things in pursuit of experiments, and has a tendency to babble on about something or other without getting to the point when attempting to explain things.
  101. All in all, while she isn't a bad character, I wouldn't really want her as a waifu. She wouldn't be fun to be around, and having to constantly talk her out of her latest self-endangering experiment doesn't sound appealing.
  103. 91. Yuno (Hidamari Sketch)
  104. http://www.1999.co.jp/itbig18/10182234a.jpg
  105. Obviously this girl is really, really cute. Too cute in fact. She strays dangerously close to the definition of a "Moe Blob", which is a character who is just there to be adorable and do adorable things. Most everything I've seen of her is, in fact, her doing generic 'cute' things, like dancing around for no reason and singing badly. This is made even worse by the fact Yuno is actually 15 - the most childish 15 year old ever.
  107. The last thing that detracts from Yuno can be blamed on the art style itself. The series slips into super-deformed art almost every other scene, making Yuno look like a 5 year-old in both appearance AND personality. There's a point where a character can just be too childish to be a waifu, and Yuno comes really close to being that. She gets some character development later on in the series at least, but she still remains quite childish in her mindset.
  108. -------
  109. I can't compete with Doom x_x. So I thought I should give some insight into my ranking process as well.
  111. I've been ranking the waifus based on all available sources. I generally start on TVtropes, because that gives the most insight into what a waifu is about. If there's a wiki for their series I'll use that too. I also look up videos on YT if possible, though that is difficult with certain series (my GOD there are so many freaking cutscenes in Xenosaga). So far I've completely spoiled myself on two visual novel character routes, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
  113. Obviously I take looks, personality and voice acting into account for the overall ranking. As I've mentioned in previous write-ups, the general art style of a series can sway my judgement in the looks department. I do tend to give cuter characters a higher ranking, but just because a character is cute doesn't mean I automatically like them.
  115. While I may not have Doom and all those looks and IB rankings, I'm willing to dig deeper, and give your waifus as much of a chance as possible to catch my interest.
  116. ------
  117. 90. Julia Chang (Tekken)
  118. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100401030837/tekken/en/images/3/30/Julia_Chang_-_CG_Art_Image_-_Tekken_6_Bloodline_Rebellion.png
  119. This is the point in the list where my standards really go up. There's nothing particularly bad about Julia; she's hot and has a nice native american look (is she actually native american even? I didn't find out). And obviously being about to kick some butt is a plus. She has a different look in Tekken Tag 2, but its technically a borrowed look, so I didn't count it on my judgement.
  121. But she's also a scientist. . .? To me, she only really looks the part in certain ending FMVs. So she's an intelligent scientist, yet none of her supposed intelligence is incorporated into her personality from my perspective. Her motivations have changed from game to game as per typical Tekken, but her main one has been to restore the forests of her home, and being forced to fight in tournaments because of Mishima Zaibatsu.
  123. Her established identity as a scientist just seems underutilized in contrast to her Native American look and the connected motivations. And you know, instead of writing all that, I may as well have just said that the games don't really SHOW a whole lot of Julia's personality that isn't directly related to her storyline.
  125. 89. Miyako Shiina (Maji De Watashi Ni Koi Shinasai!)
  126. http://fuwanovel.org/assets/images/vn/229/screen06.jpg
  127. Now I'm not always the biggest fan of Yanderes, since Yandere often goes hand in hand with violent elimination of anyone that steals their crush's affection. But that isn't a problem in this case. Miyako is a more savvy Yandere that will actually back off when the protagonist shows affection for another girl. She's not giving up, obviously, just waiting for her chance to grab him on the rebound.
  129. Besides the obvious attractiveness, Miyako spends most of her time talking about molesting and actually molesting the protagonist. And that molesting can be anything from general self-exploitation, to literally changing a dirty video the protagonist watches to feature a live feed of her stripping. There's also multiple bad endings where she literally forces herself on the protagonist based on maybe a single optional sentence you can choose to say to her. Yes, a girl can be willing to do the deed and enjoy it, but that doesn't mean they should talk about it 24/7.
  131. Besides being generally uncomfortable to be around, she frequently lies about supporting the protagonist's interest in other girls, and pretty much any time it would support her goals, she is a lying machine. I'd rather have a waifu that is at least a bit more honest with her feelings - and talks about things besides molestation.
  133. 88. Mint (Threads of Fate)
  134. http://images.kaneva.com/filestore4/3496341/4092130/g02.jpg
  135. So Mint is an incredibly cute redhead who fights with twin chakram. She's also excitable and energetic in personality. Mint started off great, but when looking at the game itself, she dropped off pretty quickly.
  137. From the start Mint isn't meant to be a sympathetic protagonist - she is meant to be a foil to the other protagonist Rue, who is selfless and has a sympathetic backstory. In fact she is the complete opposite of him. She is a princess who, when passed over in favor of her much more mature sister for the kingdom's crown, runs off in a rage to seek the supermagical artifact of the game. Her stated goal is not just her kingdom's crown, but WORLD DOMINATION. Yes, Mint is about as selfish a main protagonist as I've ever seen.
  139. Her route in the game isn't particularly serious, and she certainly doesn't have villainous tendencies. But she does try to one-up people and always get her way most of the time, while managing to be cute at times too. Her personality is childish in the worst possible way, unlike the harmless Yuno. Mint could have been ranked higher if she ultimately grows up after going through her entire journey. But I watched the last scene of her story. Long story short, she doesn't mature at all.
  141. 87. Kinzie Kensington (Saints Row 3/4)
  142. http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Kenzie_-_Render_9893.png
  143. I usually really like redheads, and Kinzie is a very attractive one at first glance. But her personality consists of basically every female 'nerd' stereotype you can think of, which results in many positives and almost as many negatives. Kinzie is obviously quite intelligent, being a former FBI agent and all, and can be really cute in her awkwardness at times. She is also not shy in the slightest when it comes to, ahem, doing the deed and doing it often. One only needs to look at some of the toys she keeps around to deduce that (not that you need to).
  145. However, there are other aspects of her personality that are very unattractive. She's a borderline shut in who, by her own admission, doesn't particularly like people (she's a little better in SR4). Though also in SR4, she often punches The Boss in the face for little to no reason. Kinzie is also a bit of a slob - she literally doesn't know how to wash her hair. That's just gross.
  147. 86. Amanda Kimmel (Survivor)
  148. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120617041237/survivor/images/a/a8/S20_Amanda_Kimmel.jpg
  149. It was only inevitable that Amanda would come off the list around this point. She is a real person competing against a host of mostly 2D waifus, after all. Amanda simply can't match the cuteness and pure waifu-ness the other girls can pull off at will. She also lags behind in appearance, mostly just due to lacking a distinctive look and a face that is carefully crafted to be attractive. She's still quite hot though.
  151. Personality-wise, she's nice and playful by all accounts, with a bit of awkwardness for good measure. She was a bit aloof at times during her time on Survivor, but ultimately she treated the show like a game, which it is. Her ability to win immunity challenges was what brought her to the final four, but she didn't connect with the members of the tribal council enough in the end and got voted off. She was very serious about winning, and not even repeated loss of her top could deter her from taking immunity. Oh, and her rear end was blurred out half the time too. She has little shame concerning her body, which is always a plus.
  153. 85. Lamia Loveless (Super Robot Wars Advance)
  154. http://www.scenicreflections.com/files/Lamia%20Loveless%20Wallpaper__yvt2.jpg
  155. Her greatest assets are there for all to see - she's probably in competition for the hottest waifu on the list. Her voice is really sexy too, and she has much of the adorable awkwardness that comes with having to learn human customs and interaction.
  157. Unfortunately I had a hard time finding non-wiki information on Lamia. Most of the videos featuring her on YT aren't translated either, for some reason. The main thing dragging her down here is that she seems too cold and stoic - she does have a deep connection with Excellen Browning, but I was unable to find translated interactions between them. Unlike many of the androids and robots on this list, Lamia seems resigned to her status as an artificial person. Not that wanting to become 'a real girl' is required to make an android feel more like a waifu, but she just seems more closed emotion-wise than Aigis and the like.
  159. She has gone through some traumatic events that may have placed a role in her mindset - said events probably would have resulted in her death if not for being an android. What also worries me is what she says concerning the parties responsible for her suffering. She says things like "they were just misguided". Stoicism with a dash of extreme doormat mentality does not a good waifu make.
  161. 84. Rindou Sidune (Gunslinger Stratos)
  162. http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/760/760722/gunsdengeki_005_cs1w1_720x.jpg
  163. http://img1.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spire2/a05dfbbb934153d7508f09630c601b381333583834_full.png
  164. So here's where Rindou ends up based on what little I know of her. She's really cute, wears a maid outfit along with random devil horns, and uses a freaking flamethrower. Not bad at all.
  166. She seems to have an energetic and peppy personality, but also seems to be a rather extreme yandere. She's an assassin who 'eliminates' anyone who gets close to the protagonist, so I can only jump to the conclusion that she's the insane murderous type of yandere. Not exactly my type of girl (and this is coming from someone who loves the girls of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni).
  168. So Rindou is one of those cute but crazy types, but a lack of information beyond that prevents her from moving up, and a maid costume can only get her so far.
  170. 83. MOMO (Xenosaga)
  171. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa137/Macadam01/Xenosaga/momo2.jpg
  172. All things considered, this is lower than I thought I would end up ranking MOMO. While she looks too young and innocent for my taste in Xenosaga I, she is absolutely disgustingly cute in III. She can kick some butt, which is always a plus. And as an artificial human, has the whole 'I want to be a real girl' thing going on (but lacks the awkwardness of learning human customs and all that). She is surprisingly still quite innocent in Xenosaga III, despite what she's gone through.
  174. Now it may be that I'm not looking hard enough, but she doesn't really seem to DO all that much in any of the games (if I'm missing something here, tell me, I don't have time to look through 30 freaking hours of cutscenes). Her main role seems to be serving as a love interest for Jr. and a daughter figure for Ziggy. And to be dramatically monologued at by the main villain. She's just there to develop the character of others, and gets almost no plot relevance on her own.
  176. She just seems to be a generic cute kid/teen in personality. As adorable as she is, I'd just like to see a bit more development from her. I'm surprised that I have to say that about a Xenosaga character, but here I am.
  178. 82. Ibuki Mioda (Super Dangan Ronpa 2)
  179. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130408003831/danganronpa/images/a/a9/Ibukimioda.jpg
  180. So we've got a cute, incredibly hyper girl who dresses up like a hard rock Twilight Sparkle and plays death metal. There's no way you can go wrong with that. And she serves as yet another reminder that, as long as a girl has a cute voice, she'll only get more endearing by referring to herself in third person. She may also win the best hair award.
  182. The problem is that she is often TOO hyper and random. She's got a tendency to go off on random rants about various things for little to no reason. It can be funny at times, but to me it would be annoying to deal with all the time. Also I'm not a fan of facial piercings.
  184. And you know what the funny part is? She's one of the saner girls in the game, from what I've seen. I guess that's just what Dangan Ronpa is about.
  186. 81. Princess Zelda (Super Smash Brothers 4 / The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess)
  187. http://www.smashbros.com/images/og/zelda.jpg
  188. Seeing as they still use Zelda's Twilight Princess design, that's where I'm going to draw her personality from. I've always liked her design in the game, though the jury's still out on her having brown hair instead of blonde. Unfortunately, she doesn't get a whole lot of focus in TP - her main purpose in the story is to provide exposition and develop Midna's character further.
  190. Even following her kingdom's takeover by Zant, she maintains her dignity for the most part, though she does lock herself away in mourning for her kingdom. She never really seems to lose her cool in the game, and that is what worries me. She may be a bit too much of an ice queen for me, and never really drops the persona of the dignified ruler of Hyrule. She's definitely a kind and fair ruler, and handles herself well considering what she went through.
  192. As far as her heroic 'sacrifice' goes, what actually happened to her following that was sort of unclear. She didn't die in the strict sense of the word obviously, and I don't know if she truly planned to when she decided to save Midna. And I don't know if it was a truly selfless act, or extreme measures taken to ensure that the most important inhabitant of the Twilight Realm survived? There are many things we'll never know, and Zelda's thoughts are one of them.
  194. 80. Schala (Chrono Trigger)
  195. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100621230816/chrono/images/e/eb/Schala.jpg
  197. There are few characters that go through as much as Schala does. She gets used by her mother, fuses with a world-destroying monster against her will, and has her mind split in two over the ordeal. And then she sends herself back in time as a baby then. . . yeah, it gets complicated. I'll concentrate on her appearance in CT itself.
  199. To be honest, I just don't think CT's art style works for her. Everyone else looks fine, but she just comes out looking far younger than she should. And her appearance is rather plain at that, excluding the blue hair. I actually think her sprite looks better than her official art.
  201. Schala is the ultimate selfless royal personality-wise. She is incredibly warm and kind, lacking anything even resembling an ego. I fear though, that she might be too selfless, and somewhat complacent at that. She continues to obey her mother long after she goes off the deep end, and is almost eager to sacrifice herself for others. There's also somewhat of an aura of depression about her - this is visible in her early appearances and even her expression in the official art shows this. I'm thinking this is more a part of her overall personality, rather than being gloomy about, say, her mom being nuts and such.
  203. Schala is a very nice girl who really makes you want to protect her, but I think it is more because of what happens to her in the game, instead of who she is as a person.
  205. 79. Flannery (Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire)
  206. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110331113956/pokemon/images/f/f5/Flannery.png
  207. This girl has always been way too thin. And that's about the only complaint I have about her appearance-wise.
  209. Flannery is at a disadvantage personality-wise. The Hoenn Gym Leaders have never really gotten much characterization, and it really shows in my ranking of Flannery here. I really do like her - she's one of my favorite gym leaders, but they've shown so little of her personality that I can't even decisively say what she's like.
  211. Her awkward speech upon challenging her is legendary, but I don't think that represents her personality in reality. Being an inexperienced gym leader is her entire thing, and she probably just didn't practice it. Beyond that, she seems like a stereotypical fiery redhead, but not a very extreme one. The most extreme thing about her is her use of Overheat as a signature move.
  213. Pretty much the only things Flannery has in her favor are her looks, her energy, and the fact that she likes to soak in hot springs (oh yes). Here's hoping the Ruby and Sapphire remakes give her a lot more development.
  215. 78. Talia al Ghul (DC Comics)
  216. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110829181842/batman/images/b/b6/366443-190120-talia.jpg
  217. As much of a fan I am of Batman and his various rogues, I only really knew Talia from The Animated Series. She's always been incredibly sexy, and its hard to tire of dat accent. However, she never really seemed to be more than a Bond Girl in personality - using her natural charms to get her way, but falling for the hero and thus opposing her boss (father in this case).
  219. In later years she did change, but for the worse. She was always closer to being a straight-up villain than Catwoman, and she did exactly that in the 6 or so years before the New 52 ruined everything (I will never forgive what they did to Raven). She pretty much turns on Batman completely, disowns Damian Wayne, and creates a clone of Damian to kill Damian. Yeeeeeep. It turns out Talia is a very, VERY vengeful woman.
  221. Thanks to a rather brilliant gambit by Ra's, Talia pretty much becomes exactly like him, down to how she treats Damian. I can't help but think that no matter Talia loves someone, she'll eventually use them in some sort of crazy revenge plan. I briefly considered the implications of being with someone whose father is an immortal ecoterrorist with thousands of assassins at his command. I didn't think I'd have to deal with Talia herself being all that.
  223. She only gets this far based off of nostalgia bias from TAS and being dead sexy, basically.
  225. 77. Black Canary (Batman: Brave and the Bold)
  226. http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/29945/4-4.jpg
  227. Black Canary definitely falls a lot in my ranking due to being the BatB version. Her design is rather bare-bones, and she doesn't even have blue eyes. They dropped the ball on her, essentially. She still manages to look pretty sexy though, but just not nearly as good as she could be.
  229. Simply due to the nature of the show, she doesn't get a whole lot of characterization beyond 'femme fatale #17'. Not that I dislike the archtype, but its just nothing special on its own.
  231. The main draw of Black Canary? Being voiced by Grey Delisle. She alone is enough to make Azula my favorite Avatar character, and she does most of the work with this waifu. It helps that Black Canary sings in most of her appearances too - "Birds of Prey" is just perfection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAFP0IoMfsA
  233. 76. Yoruichi Shihoin (Bleach)
  234. http://media.animevice.com/uploads/3/36080/708858-Yoruichi0zd.jpg
  235. I used to love Bleach once upon a time. And then they ruined it : ( .
  237. I really like Yoruichi - she's hot, a massive tease and is one of the strongest characters in the series. I don't mind if you don't like clothes Yoruichi, I really don't.
  239. But she never seemed very waifu-like to me, or feminine in the slightest. She generally only uses her hot body to get reactions out of people, and otherwise behaves like any mentor character, male or otherwise. She even spends a large amount of time masquerading around as a male cat. I simply can't see her as anything other than a 'cool big sis', a role she fits to a T.
  241. That darn cat - I swear she'd be a lot more attractive as a waifu if not for the cat thing. Also her table manners are awful. And I don't particularly care for her voice acting.
  243. 75. Caitlin Fairchild (Gen 13)
  244. http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/21/c2/72/21c272867dc94e712bd9601555e61aa1.jpg
  245. This was a very difficult ranking - strong redheads are definitely my type, but Caitlin has a lot else going on that subtracts from her waifu performance.
  247. First of all, there's her look. Now I went out of my way to find an attractive pic of Caitlin, but as a character who has been passed around to so many different artists, a lot of her official art is less than flattering. She has the usual impossible proportions in some of them, and she looks like your usual MALE bodybuilder in some others. She's supposed to look like an amazon, guys, not freaking Ahnold.
  249. Second is her so-called "intelligence". She used to be meek, nerdy girl who was studying to work in computer programming and engineering, prior to hulking out. Never have I seen her utilize her talents, or even display anything above average intelligence. She is apparently a "natural-born leader" too. Other than a strong desire to protect her comrades, I just don't see it. And then seeing how much effort they put into making her an unwitting fanservice girl, I just can't help but think they don't care about developing her personality as long as she gets to strip for the fans once an issue.
  251. All that said, her personality is certainly not unpleasant and very warm and caring, and quite interestingly at odds with her appearance. And she's probably great in bed ; )
  253. 74. Sayaka Miki (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)
  254. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131204052448/loveinterest/images/5/5d/Sayaka1ep5.png
  255. I really like Sayaka as a character. . . but not as a waifu. She's incredibly cute, and under normal circumstances has a very cheerful and determined personality. But there is a lot more to consider here.
  257. I decided it wouldn't be fair to take her slow (and expertly-done) breakdown following the plot twist at the series midpoint, but at the same time, many of the personality aspects that led to it are present before she even becomes a magical girl. It is mostly a lack of self-confidence and feeling unworthy of her love interest that she doesn't confess her feelings, and instead inadvertently makes him angry. She foolishly believes in the cliches of fairy tales and standard magical girl series, and those beliefs rule her mindset. Long story short, I don't think she's mature enough to handle a relationship. Other characters grow out of their naivety, but Sayaka never completely does.
  259. If only she were IN a standard magical girl series, she'd probably get enough personal development to become waifu-worthy. Her magical girl design is still terrific though.
  261. 73. KOS-MOS (Xenosaga)
  262. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110402231749/xenosaga/images/d/d2/KOSMOS3Concept2.jpg
  263. Yes, I am aware how hot KOS-MOS is. In fact she's probably one of the hottest waifus on the list, and easily the hottest robot girl.
  265. But the fact of the matter is, she does very few things that aren't robotic or related to her programming. I'm aware that she somewhat breaks her robotic traits during the incredibly long and winding plot of Xenosaga, but seeing as I want to play this series myself, I've been trying to avoid big spoilers. I may consider reranking KOS-MOS if someone provides (spoiler-free) information on her character development in the series.
  267. KOS-MOS does display many of the positive traits that other robot girls such as Aigis have, like the desire to become more human and the like. But its tough to view her like that when her way of speaking remains so robotic. She is also very protective of Shion, which is definitely a positive, but is willing to do so at the cost of self-harm or harming others (at least in Episode I).
  269. She may yet prove to be a top-tier waifu down the line. But as of this moment KOS-MOS is borderline waifu material.
  271. 72. QQ Selezneva (Tales of Innocence R)
  272. http://tw.gamerhotline.com/catalog/game/news/2011/201110/1003/TalesofR/01.jpg
  273. So Tales of Innocence R has yet to be released in english, and I can't find any translated videos featuring QQ. So I pretty much have to rely on the wiki only for this ranking.
  275. QQ is pretty good appearance-wise, and doesn't leave a whole lot to the imagination. But white hair, eyepatch and triple-pierced ear? Not a fan of that stuff. Her personality is very, very energetic, she has some potentially charming verbal tics, and loves to hug people. Once you get past how cute it is, there's probably more of a downside to your waifu hugging random people.
  277. But then there's some spoiler-like things that happen with her at the end of the game. From what I can determine, her happy-go-lucky personality may just be a mask to her true nature. I can't confirm or deny this right now, but a lack of information prevents me from putting this theory to rest.
  279. QQ seems really cute and fun, but I can't quite trust her.
  281. 71. Luna (Virtue's Last Reward)
  282. http://mognetcentral.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/luna.png
  283. Luna is a very difficult character to judge. Virtue's Last Reward is one of those games that uses characters as playthings for the plot, and kill off most of them. Due to the situation Luna is in during the game, it is hard to figure out how often she is truly in control of her actions. She's also not human, but I won't get into that
  285. Luna is a very caring person who never directly goes against another character and tries to get everyone to get along. She even has experience in nursing to go with her personality, that's cute and all. There is nothing that suggests her nature isn't genuine, and her love for the protagonist also drives her later on.
  287. Unfortunately, Luna's rather generic design drags her down quite a bit, and this is coming from someone who usually loves redheads. Not to say she isn't cute, but she's behind most of the waifus on the ranking looks-wise.
  289. 70. Celes Chere (Final Fantasy VI)
  290. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080301023234/finalfantasy/images/a/ae/FFVI-CelesCG.gif
  292. Yes, I haven't played FVI, I admit it. The main thing going against Celes is her personality - she seems to be way too uptight and serious all the time. It makes sense considering her backstory, that it would take a lot to get her to truly open up. But I don't see her uptight personality changing all that much regardless. She does have some moments of awkwardness and unintentional funny quotes, but when all this is done in the sprite era of Final Fantasy, there's no tone of voice or movement to be taken into account.
  294. Appearance-wise, she's very attractive, and almost angelic in her facial features and light blonde hair. Though I am slightly confused about why her sprite looks nothing like her official art, wearing a green leotard and armor while I've never seen either of those in her art. She's obviously far hotter in the latter, but doesn't really fit the "angelic" description either.
  296. 69. Lise/Riesz (Seiken Densetsu 3)
  297. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120420175759/mana/images/d/d8/Riesz.png
  298. Once again, I have to essentially rank a sprite with very little official art to work with (the above pic is one of only 2 I could find). Lise tends to look a lot better in fanart, where she's much more. . . stacked than usual. Even not counting that, Lise is quite attractive, and her design is very sexy yet not overly so. I really tend to like blonde chicks who wear green for some reason.
  300. Seiken Densetsu 3 is a game with 4 protagonists who are, for all intents and purposes, interchangeable. Unfortunately, that ends up meaning that Lise doesn't really get a whole lot of focus on her personality or development. Lise takes on the role of mothering her little brother at a young age, and seems to be the warm, yet emotionally tough type. She suffers no small amount of tragedy at the beginning of the game, but she doesn't break under the pressure. There's nothing particularly bad about her personality, but its just lacking fine detail simply due to the nature of the game.
  302. 68. Taiga Aisaka (Toradora!)
  303. http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/22500000/taiga-toradora-22554106-432-600.png
  304. I'm no stranger to Rie Kugimiya-voiced mini tsundere girls. Shana is one of my favorite characters period, and Louise isn't bad either. Taiga however, has got some problems.
  306. First of all she's violent AND clumsy? That's a truly worrisome combination, and the direct results of said combination are shown in a few scenes I've seen. Not to mention that she's very easy to anger to boot. After she mellows out she's usually only violent for the sake of her loved ones, but she remains kind of abusive in personality. That said, she can be surprisingly kind to Ryuji and others, but not always in the most thoughtful way.
  308. Looks-wise, she is honestly a bit plain compared to a lot of other waifus. Her face is really cute and shows her emotions quite well, but she's pretty much a typical loli schoolgirl beyond that.
  310. So pretty much she's got a cute face, an even cuter voice and is charmingly direct in personality. But her overall uninspired design and a troubling combination of abusiveness, clumsiness and violent behavior drag her to the realm of borderline waifu material.
  312. 67. Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy Tail)
  313. http://media.animevice.com/uploads/2/29816/728146-lucy_heartfilia.jpg
  314. I can't help but get turned off a little bit by girls who are proportioned like Lucy. She's a little overly skinny, which is standard practice for popular anime, but she just looks silly with that mountainous rack stuck on her skinny body. Everything doesn't have to go straight to her chest : |
  316. Now don't get me wrong, she's very sexy regardless of proportions, and her hips are perfect. Her personality is pretty good too. She's a tough fighter (and even better at taking hits), a down-to-earth and kind girl, and ends up naked a lot. She'll abuse her fellow guild members a lot, but that's because they're pretty much all insane.
  318. But the reason Lucy ranks all the way down here is the downright bizarre way she reacts to the idea of a relationship and love in general. In one episode she believes Natsu (who wouldn't know love if it pinned him to the bed) has feelings for her. While she tells herself that she doesn't like Natsu in this way and resolves to turn him down, she still dresses up nicely for him while having half a mental breakdown. She behaves like someone who had a terrible relationship in the past, except she hasn't had anything of the sort. She pretty clearly DOES like Natsu, but if the mere idea of a relationship freaks her out that much, I can't believe that she'd be comfortable being in one.
  320. I know I can't expect an anime this long-running and popular to actually pair up its main characters, but it's a real shame that they can't treat the idea of romance even remotely seriously when it comes to the supposedly level-headed Lucy. And this is in a show that features brutal torture scenes and shows off all the girls' rears twice a season.
  322. 66. Lan Fan (Fullmetal Alchemist)
  323. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090805165021/fma/images/9/9f/LanFan_masked.jpg
  324. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131219120210/fma/images/0/04/Lanfan-profile2.png
  325. My only experience with Fullmetal Alchemist is the 2003 anime, thus I didn't know about Lan Fan before. It was easy for me to figure her out though - Lan Fan is the embodiment of the devoted bodyguard. She'd give her life for Ling without a thought, and does give up an arm for him (she gets it replaced with a freaking blade arm though, that's just awesome). It's only natural for one to place themselves in Ling's shoes with this one, and have the cute and surprisingly sexy Lan Fan call them "master". That's probably the biggest thing Lan Fan has going for her.
  327. As for negatives, Lan Fan does behave rather strangely around Ling. She doesn't like him to see her without her silly mask, and her design as a whole, blade arm notwithstanding, is pretty generic. All her feelings (and her attractive curvy body) get hidden behind her generic assassin outfit, and she is a bit too serious too often personality-wise. I think she feels unworthy of Ling, to a degree, and while Ling IS royalty, I'd hate Lan Fan to feel that why about me.
  329. I think that Lan Fan has a great bit of waifu potential, but she's not the one for me.
  331. 65. Estelle - Tales of Vesperia
  332. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081020210102/aselia/images/2/27/Estelle.jpg
  333. I've always really liked Estelle's design. She looks every bit as elegant as a princess should be, yet the abundance of pink on the inner layer of her dress just how different she is from the traditional rebellious princess. She's very girly and slightly naive, and just about the nicest girl ever. Not to mention she's super cute and has pink hair. And a shockingly competent fighter to boot.
  335. And then she opens her mouth. It may not be fair to judge her strictly on her english voice, but I played through this whole game; that's just the voice I associate with her. And it is sickeningly cute, to the point that I feel it should belong to a younger character. Estelle is mostly bearable when talking normally or during dramatic scenes. But then when she's letting her awkward curiosity and naive misunderstandings run wild in skits, its less "cute" and more "oh my god just stop talking".
  337. In the end though, she's just not a girl I get excited about as a waifu, as she is pretty plain personality-wise aside from the basic naivety of a sheltered princess who learned everything she knows from books. I'd rate her as an ok-at-best waifu.
  339. 64. Dark Magician Girl (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
  340. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120723235942/yugioh/images/2/21/DarkMagicianGirl-JP-Anime-MOV2-NC.png
  341. I'll go ahead and assume that the Dark Magician Girl that dueled against Jaden in GX was in fact the real deal, and yes, she can talk. Her voice was not nearly as good as I was hoping though, and her personality in that episode was nothing to write home about. She was a bit of a jerkass in getting the entire crowd against Jaden (not that they weren't to begin with), but was otherwise very Mary Sue-like.
  343. I much preferred the personality they established for her in the original anime without having her talk. That said, I can see her as little more than a standard magical girlfriend, complete with energetic personality and being adorably protective of her master. She is still quite sexy though, and the bright blue and pink color scheme combined with her cute face make her a very attractive waifu.
  345. I can't say there's a whole lot particularly wrong with DMG, but I just don't see a lot of potential beyond her appearance and bare-bones cute personality.
  347. 63. Kay Faraday (Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth)
  348. http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/3650/34606/kay_faraday_rgb_psd_jpgcopy.jpg
  349. The biggest thing that Kay has going against her is simply being inferior to many similar characters that I like more. She's an obvious expy of Yuffie Kisaragi, who I absolutely adore. This alone scores her some points on the appearance front, but she just plain can't match the charm and over-the-top behavior of Yuffie. Kay can be brash and loud at times, but that's mostly just to remind all law enforcement present at all times that she is indeed the Yatagarasu. And Kay is someone even more reckless and prone to getting into trouble than Yuffie, which isn't TOO big of a downside, but it is something I've considered.
  351. Kay is also outdone by both Maya Fey and Ema Skye as far as AA assistants go. The latter two always seem to make me laugh with their pure energy, offbeat observations and the occasional abuse of Phoenix. Kay does get on Edgeworth's nerves quite a bit, but let's be honest. EVERYONE gets on Edgeworth's nerves.
  353. Finally, I don't care all that much for Kay's design. It seems like almost every element of her design was suggested by someone different, and they just decided to throw it all together and be done with it. I like the scarf and the hair, but nothing else, really. Kay is still a cute and enjoyable character with plenty of potential. But ultimately, she tries to carry the torch of previous AA assistants while also being Yuffie, and fails at both.
  355. 62. Android 18 (Dragonball Z)
  356. http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/6665/84875/CI_84875_1383506979.jpg
  357. Forehead is way too big. /end writeup
  359. But yeah, I found Android 18 attractive as a kid, but my standards for waifus are much higher nowadays. I can't complain about her early-mid 90s style in fashion, but she simply is not done justice by the art style that made Bulma and Videl top-tier girls. Not only is her forehead too big, thus making her eyes look way too small, she pretty much had the head of a deformed alien when she first appeared in the series. And her voice isn't that good (you could blame that on her getting recast like 6 times).
  361. Her rather deadpan personality can be amusing, however, and she's married to Krillin. -KRILLIN-
  363. She obviously gets some points for being a literal waifu, but she also has a daughter. Who she takes to fighting tournaments. And lightly sets down before choking out Master Roshi. 18 might just not win any parenting awards. At least she can still kick some butt.
  365. 61. Yuna (Final Fantasy X and X-2)
  366. http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/4700000/Yuna-final-fantasy-x-4714819-576-768.jpg
  367. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080602203325/finalfantasy2/de/images/6/69/Yuna_Rendering_FFX-2.jpg
  368. I may as well not even talk about Yuna in FFX, and just talk about how much X-2 ruined her.
  370. Her voice and personality perfectly fit her appearance in X, but in X-2, nothing fits. Her voice in X always struck me as a stylistic decision that only worked for that character in that game. In X-2 she tries to be a freaking Charlie's Angel/idol singer with her soft-spoken voice, dress up in the most horrid costume ever, and start spouting PG-rated curse words you got brainwashed into using by Rikku. It just doesn't work.
  372. She didn't need a stupid makeover; she was plenty great in FFX. Her caring nature, her design (though I was never that big on her face outside of FMVs) and her masterful development from doormat summoner to world-saving awesome. And she has sex in a lake, that's just too good.
  374. Thanks X-2. Thanks a lot : |
  376. 60. Kanon Daiba (God Eater 2)
  377. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131222181623/godeater/images/1/1e/CanonDaiba.jpg
  378. Kanon's design isn't the best in the world, but she's cute. Incredibly freaking cute. And as always I have a bias for pink hair. She's also a bit of a shy girl, but very kind and adorable. Her role as a healer further enforces this.
  380. Unfortunately, the information I was able to find on her beyond that is kind of vague. All the clips I found of her in God Eater 2 are untranslated to the surprise of no one, and I was unable to find any of her in battle. And she may be voiced by Kari Wahgren in God Eater Burst (one of my favorite VAs), but found a grand total of one scene with her in it, where she says exactly one line. Great : |
  382. The lack of battle clips is important, because Kanon apparently turns into a complete psycho in battle. She does use ranged weapons in addition to healing, and she won't ever stop shooting if there is an enemy in her sights. This is a literal split personality deal, from what the wiki tells me, as she starts talking like an insane blood knight as well. The game says that she has frequent friendly fire "mishaps". Doesn't sound like mishap is the right word to use here.
  384. While her psycho nature only seems to come out during battle, I also have yet to see her under major stress out of battle, so I'm left wondering if her split personality could come out in other situations. Either way, I doubt I could have ranked Kanon much higher anyway.
  386. 59. Fate Testarossa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS)
  387. http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/1229027446_1/Magical-Girl-Lyrical-Nanoha-Fate-Testarossa-Cosplay-Costume-Custom-Made.jpg
  388. Fate is a character who is exceptional in many aspects. She's incredibly strong both physically and emotionally, has proven herself a very motherly and caring girl, and is a perfect combination of cute and sexy design-wise (and gets plenty of fanservice-y transformation sequences).
  390. There's one problem - Fate is so calm and unemotional that it actually bothers me. Aside from mommy issues in the first season, I basically never saw her raise her voice or waver in her tone at all. This type of personality makes sense considering the lack of a loving presence in her childhood, but waifus just plain need to be more interesting than Fate is. She is apparently shy and awkward too, but I never saw those aspects of her personality highlighted much outside of non-canon omakes. She has a sexy voice and needs to use it more.
  392. 58. Yuki Nagato (Haruhi Suzumiya)
  393. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c5/Human_Yuki_Nagato.jpg
  394. Yes I realized I may have misled a bit with my hints last night. Yuki is only a physical god in power and ability, not a literal god. Though considering what she does in canon, she may be BEYOND a physical god.
  396. But yeah. I only watched the original Haruhi series previously - I didn't realize just how freaking convoluted this universe had become. I was aware of the Endless 8, but I didn't know how the Disappearance stuff came to be. Apparently Yuki was the cause of the alternate universe that came to be in Disappearance, she STOLE HARUHI'S POWERS AND CREATED A NEW TIMELINE WITHOUT HER. Forget Haruhi, Yuki is above physical god level.
  398. Let's get to Yuki herself. The entire reason for her popularity is arguably her emotionless and nearly mute nature, combined with her pure cuteness. While she is very cute and probably the best Cute Bookworm-type ever, I was just never a big fan of her nearly-robotic nature. But it's not her fault - she's an artificial human that wasn't built with the capacity to express emotions. She is able to feel them though. She is not averse to showing her emotion through action, and with the powers she has, there's little she can't accomplish.
  400. There was a tough call I had to make concerning the alternate universe of Disappearance. There is an alternate Yuki in that universe who IS able to express emotion. And she's absolutely adorable. She is painfully shy and just a tiny bit more vocal than normal, but it only took one scene for her to establish just HOW adorable she is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa1B_uwkpoU
  402. Unfortunately, alternate Yuki is a separate character, so I can't fully include her in my analysis. But considering how the Disappearance universe came to be, this is how Yuki wishes she could be in the main series. So I'll give her a few points for that, but ultimately main series Yuki is only slightly above KOS-MOS personality-wise.
  404. 57. Pascal (Tales of Graces f)
  405. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100702182311/aselia/images/b/b0/Blast_Calibur_Cut_In.png
  406. I wish I could rank you higher Pascal, I really do.
  408. I love almost everything about Pascal. Her enthusiasm and plucky nature cannot be beaten, she's incredibly cute and her hair is amazing, and she's just so incredibly charming in her (slight) ignorance despite being a scientific genius. Not to mention she's pretty much the single best character in battle (that 1on1 fight against her is frustratingly tough).
  410. But then I start thinking more in-depth. There is an issue with her being oblivious to love, but I think she's just so cute in her displays of obliviousness I'll let that slide. The main issue here is her obsessive nature and aversion to bathing. Like Miriel, she's the type to get completely engrossed in research and experiments, and goes days without bathing. But she doesn't just forget to bathe, she actively doesn't WANT to, and has to be forced.
  412. I've got no complaints about having to bathe my waifu ; ) . But what I don't like is the idea of not seeing my waifu for a week, and then having her emerge from the lab smelly and gross. . . and then having her glomp me. Uuuuuuuuuugh I want no part of that.
  414. I'm sorry Pascal, but you gotta get clean before I can accept you as a true waifu : (
  416. 56. Palutena (Kid Icarus: Uprising)
  417. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/0/5911/1404973-3ds_kidicarus_03char02_e3.png
  418. Palutena was another difficult ranking for me. Uprising is on my backlog, but I've seen plenty of game footage and skits. Palutena is quite the attractive goddess, and even manages to provide fanservice in an E-10 game. I'm not the biggest fan in the world of her design, but her weaponry is pretty cool. Her voice is pretty sexy too.
  420. While it is clear that she cares a lot for Pit, and has some quite amusing ungodly awkward moments, she is truly deserving of the "Trolltena" nickname. I hear she isn't as bad in the original japanese, but she rarely lets up on her trolling in the english version. Pit can be in a dire situation, and meanwhile Palutena is talking about how tasty fried eggplant would be right about then. It gets to the point where when she smiles, you just know something trollish is coming out of her mouth.
  422. I would compare Palutena to a traditional Greek god in the sense that, while she has amazing power and is certainly looking out for her underlings/worshippers, she's more than a little bit full of herself. It makes sense for a God to have this type of personality, but as far as waifus go, we can do a lot better.
  424. 55. Mitsuru Kirijo (Persona 3)
  425. http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt19/TheBabeList/Babes%20I-Q/p4u-kirijo-05.png
  426. Mitsuru is not the best-designed character in the world (which is canonized through Mitsuru's terrible fashion sense). But she is incredibly, incredibly hot, fights with a freaking rapier, and has such a charming and unexpected awkwardness in casual situations. And she easily looks the best in the game while blushing.
  428. But the biggest aspects of Mitsuru's personality are her serious nature and her pride. Mitsuru always seems guarded emotionally, even to people she's opened up to before. The "Queenly Mask" trope comes to mind - Mitsuru always tries to keep up the expected appearance of the heir to the Kirijo Company, for better or for worse. And her pride and stated devotions can cause her to make more than questionable decisions. For example, her support of Yukari during The Answer. Yukari was pretty dumb, yes, but she had a good reason for her actions. Mitsuru? She probably didn't approve of what Yukari wanted to do, but helped her anyway, because she felt obligated for prides' sake.
  430. Mitsuru feels too set in her decisions at times, too prideful. Too determined to wear her mask in public. It just wouldn't feel right to me.
  432. 54. Cecile (Suikoden 3)
  433. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090919231910/suikoden/images/5/52/S3-cecile.jpg
  434. Another game that's on my backlog. Cecile is really cute in both looks and personality, being dedicated to protecting her lord's castle and actually being good at it. But I don't really care for her design at all - the armor covers up her cuteness for the most part. And what kind of knight wears a skirt and spiked shoes? : |
  436. The other thing that Cecile has against her is the fact that she. . . isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Her first appearance has her mistaking her new lord for an intruder, and it seems like she'd jump to that conclusion no matter who she came across. Cecile is a nice and cheerful girl overall, but I feel like she's like that in no small part due to her naive and slightly dense nature. And as a supporting character in the Suikoden series, she doesn't get a whole lot of development from what I've seen.
  438. 53. Adrian Andrews (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All / Trials and Tribulations)
  439. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-un8sYIuR3vo/UDP_x9acxBI/AAAAAAAAACw/Up600e_O2fQ/s1600/Adrian_Andrews_OA.jpg
  440. We're finally reached (near) the halfway point of my ranking, and suitably, Adrian Andrews has a mix of many good qualities and many bad ones. Her design isn't exactly inspired, but she's a very attractive lady who perfectly fits the hot librarian stereotype. And at least in Trials and Tribulations, she's easily flustered yet almost always cheerful, and a bit clumsy. It's really quite adorable.
  442. However, it is her first appearance in Justice for All that drags her down. She puts on an unconvincing Ice Queen facade for the sake of the plot, but in reality, she is an incredibly clingy and dependent woman. If we are to believe Edgeworth, this is a legitimate mental condition. So I must conclude that, despite how Adrian is in Trials and Tribulations, she'd fall back into her clingy ways. A little clinginess is fine, but almost totally dependency is not. There's nothing wrong with Adrian, but she falls a bit short of what I'd like in a waifu.
  444. 52. Shinobu (Monogatari series)
  445. http://24.media.tumblr.com/ba9037f58d5851e1ed241ff0a034db27/tumblr_mvtiowqeWE1rb06tgo1_500.gif
  446. http://www.entravity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/monogatari-15-19-oshino-shinobu.jpg
  447. https://8chan.co/waifuist/src/1396224581635.jpg
  448. I have a bit of a weakness for snarky girls, and Shinobu sure can snark. Of course, this being Monogatari, everyone is a snark champion.
  450. Shinobu also has a bit of an ego and can be self-centered at times - she spent the entirety of Bakemonogatari sulking, after all. And out of all the people to troll Koyomi (read - everyone all the time), she's probably the most rash and direct. I rarely see her let up on her snark either.
  452. Appearance-wise Shinobu is a bit difficult. I wasn't a fan of her youngest form from Bakemonogatari, but her slightly-aged form is really cute. And her teen form is a nice midway point - pretty sexy yet keeping a bit of her former cuteness in her face. Her adult form is really really hot, but again, she's quite violent in that form and may or may not want to kill all humans. So yeah.
  454. 51. Alpha (Yokohama Kaidashi Kiko)
  455. http://static2.minitokyo.net/view/40/26/126340.jpg
  456. http://bignanime.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/bad-hair-day.jpg
  457. Alpha was another particularly tough waifu to rank. Her series is easily the most interesting one I've been introduced to through during my research. A slow-paced, post-apocalyptic slice-of-life series? . . . sounds cool to me.
  459. Alpha may be an android, but she falls into very few of the usual robot girl tropes. She is a bit socially awkward, but that is only due to just not having a lot of people to interact with. She runs a cafe in the middle of nowhere after all. Personality and appearance-wise, you'd never know she was an android if they didn't tell you. Her personality is rather well-balanced - she has a warm and down-to-earth presence about her, and is quite inquisitive in nature. She overcomes much of her social awkwardness to become an adventurous person who spends a year traveling the post-apocalyptic landscape to learn more about the previous human age. Alpha has her share of cute moments in the OVA as well (see second pic).
  461. While I like a cute and adventurous waifu, I was probably overrating her a bit at first based on liking the setting of the series - she's a bit weaker when taken out of the series context. And she simply doesn't cut it appearance-wise. She's cute, but not overly so, and isn't really sexy in the slightest. Her typically baggy clothes don't help either. Her personality is enough to get her this far, but she simply needs to be more appealing looks-wise to compete with the top tier waifus.
  463. 50. Labrys (Persona 4 Arena)
  464. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120930135140/megamitensei/images/a/aa/Labrys_character_artwork.jpg
  465. I really do love Labrys, straight up. Her accent, while I can't tell if its supposed to be Jersey or Boston or what, is amazing and a huge part of her charm. She's more human-like in personality than Aigis - Labrys is energetic and thoughtful, not to mention extremely dedicated and adorable. It takes a special kind of waifu to make red eyes look cute. And she has a giant freaking axe.
  467. Appearance-wise. . . she's a bit too close to being TOO robotic, like EDI. Aside from her human-like face, the rest of her body is arguably more robotic than EDI's. She wears the school uniform, but it just kind of looks out-of-place on her, honestly. Labrys may be really cute, but she just doesn't look as good as Aigis and isn't designed well enough to blur the line between human and machine like Aigis does.
  469. Labrys has a great personality and is certainly cute enough to be a good waifu, but is just lacking in the design department and is a bit too robotic for me.
  471. 49. Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII)
  472. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100603175636/finalfantasy/images/7/7b/8b-rinoa_heartilly_v2.jpg
  473. As you might have guessed, I haven't played FF8, and I don't have any particular interest in doing so for several reasons. So here we are with a character who typically gets thrown under the bus by those who have played FF8. And I see where they're coming from.
  475. Rinoa is a naive and rash girl, which I can tell simply from her backstory. She runs away and forms a resistance group with little real fighting experience? Yeaaaaah, ok then. She seems like she'd be a liability in combat, but I can hardly factor that into her ranking. She enjoys teasing Squall and tries to get him to open up with lines like "You-will-like-me you-will-like-me . . . did it work?" Many people would find that kind of stuff annoying, but I personally find it pretty cute. While Rinoa is dedicated to her friends, I can see her being stubborn with her ideals and she definitely has some clinginess about her. I get how she could become somewhat annoying.
  477. Yet appearance-wise, she pretty much SCREAMS waifu material. She fits the traditional japanese beauty look to a T, and is insanely cute. She's also quite well built with her curves and long legs, and is overall just designed really well. Wings are always cool too.
  479. Rinoa is a rather stunning girl who is certainly caring and warm, but some of her stubbornness and naivety could get annoying. Not quite a suitable waifu, but really close.
  481. 48. Samus Aran (Metroid)
  482. http://cdn1.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/31339307/smash_bros_zero_suit_samus.0_cinema_640.0.jpg
  483. Other M. I could probably just leave it at that.
  485. I love Samus - she's beautiful and the most powerful and determined person in the universe. It doesn't matter if she has to destroy a Space Pirate base, take on Ridley or stave off Phazon infection. When she goes into action she's unstoppable. And personality-wise she's actually gentle and motherly, proven through her actions in many games. And I also use Zero Suit Samus in Brawl/Project M. Her playstyle's cool and so is that sexy bodysuit.
  487. And then Other M comes along and successfully destroys her. She displays characteristics that haven't been even SLIGHTLY hinted at before - naivety, signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and moments where she just flat out loses it. None of those even remotely make sense for her, but Other M canonizes them. This is a woman that has destroyed planets and entire alien races, and yet here she is pinning like an idiot maiden over her old commander and freaking out when Ridley shows up and practically going catatonic. Ridley. RIDLEY WHO SHE HAS KILLED AT LEAST 5 TIMES.
  489. I shouldn't be buying that such a strong and unflappable woman could be that naive and that fragile emotionally, but this is just the kind of ranking I'm doing. Everything - the good and the bad - must be taken into account. Samus has some rather irritating character traits thanks to Other M, and isn't the mysterious, sexy mercenary she was before.
  491. 47. Nonon Jakuzure (Kill La Kill)
  492. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131214032514/kill-la-kill/images/thumb/6/6f/Ep10-jakuzure.jpg/500px-Ep10-jakuzure.jpg
  493. http://data1.whicdn.com/images/97153485/large.gif
  494. I thought I was gonna end up ranking Nonon pretty low at first, and then I heard her voice. I've never heard anything like this - it's a perfect combination of moe, sexy and squirrelly. She's the snarky and insulting type, but she can snark at me all she wants in that voice.
  496. Nonon's also really cute, has pink hair, and wears a marching band uniform. I spent many years in marching bands myself - that's definitely a plus. It helps that she has the actual conducting skills too. However, I'm not a big fan of most of her other costumes. KLK is definitely heavy on the costumes, and design-wise, they honestly overdo it a lot. Nonon isn't always drawn in the most flattering way either. The art style just seems to benefit busty girls more.
  498. Personality-wise there are some issues. Nonon can be quite nasty when upset, and is kind of borderline unpleasant normally. I still find her really, really cute though. She also goes pretty much nuts with anger when she's losing to the protagonist in battle, and while I doubt that'd happen outside of extreme conditions, it's still concerning to me.
  500. In conclusion, Nonon has a nice hat.
  502. 46. Yuuko Ichihara (xxxHOLIC)
  503. http://media.desura.com/cache/images/groups/1/1/84/thumb_940x3000/Konachan.com_-_72663_black_hair_clamp_ichihara_yuuko_xxxholic.jpg
  504. I'm not a fan of this series' art style. Yuuko doesn't suffer nearly as the male characters, who look like literal stick figures, but her proportions can be unattractive at times. This style does make her unique among the waifus on this ranking too, though. Just looking at her gives me this mysterious and dark, yet very welcoming vibe. Pale skin and dark hair just always seem to go well together.
  506. Yuuko acts like a standard sexy mentor type in the show, though seemingly without the sexual teasing that sometimes comes with the territory. She is tough on Watanuki a lot (though to be fair, he does start out as her servant), but ultimately wants him to learn even if her methods aren't the best. There is a part of me that wants to be concerned about her practice of withholding important information, especially since Yuuko is a freaking sorceress that grants wishing demanding equivalent payment. You could argue that some of the people she grants wishes to are jerks and deserve it, but she withholds information as a teaching method too. I don't want a waifu to keep things from me so often.
  508. On the bright side, Yuuko knows how to have a good time. She'll take advantage of any excuse she can find to party and drink. It's a good thing.
  510. 45. Kanade Tachibana (Angel Beats!)
  511. http://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/35400000/Kanade-Tachibana-3-angel-beats-35445396-1024-1024.jpg
  512. Kanade is a very similar character to Yuki Nagato. Both are very soft-spoken, though Kanade is much more willing to speak her mind. Both are the emotionless girl type, but in Kanade's case, it's a farce. She's plenty emotional, but not always able to express it well, or just is hiding it. Kanade is actually a very sentimental and pure girl, and shows that she is a perfectly capable waifu in the end. And she's really cute and tiny - portable waifu!
  514. Her basic design isn't too inspired, but her awesome weapons more than make up for it. She's basically freaking Wolverine as a small girl, with bladed weapons coming out of her sleeves, healing factor and all that. Kanade personally makes her weapons, some of which are really outlandish. She's not above silliness at all - that's a plus.
  516. Parts of her personality I'm not very big on. After Kanade is relieved from her duties , she almost sort of gives up. She seems to wander around aimlessly for quite a while - she doesn't go anywhere else, she just sort of exists. And her response when locked in a room while people are in danger? To take a nap.
  518. I don't have a huge problem with soft-spoken or shrinking violet-type girls, but I'd like a waifu with a little more backbone, to be completely honest. Kanade is an acceptable waifu, but she's not the one for me.
  520. 44. Mio Akiyama (K-On!)
  521. http://www.makkuro.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/k-on_mio.png
  522. On first glance, Mio seems like a perfect waifu. She's an adorable (and surprisingly rather sexy) dark-haired girl, she's a shrinking violet who tries to be mature and level-headed (and fails in the most cute ways), and she's in a band.
  524. She has the right look and the right personality - and it seems like everything she does is freaking adorable. From her famous rear-exposing stint as lead vocalist, to begging Ritsu to sing in her place, to crying in the most moe manner over small things - she's just plain cute.
  526. But you know by now that I'm gonna be reading way too far into this. There doesn't seem to be much of anything that Mio WON'T cry or freak out about. Most of her episodes are played up for the humor, yes, but it still doesn't sit all that well with me. At some point, her cute crying will just make me feel awful, even if I didn't really do anything. Also, there's a specific moment in the manga where she says "Men are pigs!" in response to Ritsu (supposedly) having a boyfriend. It might be a pretty big issue waifu-wise if Mio hates men.
  528. But the irony is - Mio writes tons of songs for the band about loving and falling for guys and stuff. What I conclude from this contradiction is that Mio has an unrealistic fairy tail view of love - not as bad as hating men altogether, but still definitely a negative.
  530. 43. Excellen Browning (Super Robot Wars)
  531. http://img2.hebus.com/hebus_2006/06/17/preview/060617090012_9.jpg
  532. http://www.japanator.com/elephant/ul/16340-620x-Clipboard01.jpg
  533. We've got a hot redhead here - and she KNOWS she's hot.
  535. Her design isn't the best, but it's impossible to say no to those legs. Or that face. Or those. . . assets. She's just super sexy, flat out. Her personality is also sexy. She's a massive flirt, and will pretty much flirt with and tease anyone (yes that includes the girls). And she literally wears a playboy bunny suit sometimes. . . yep. She doesn't sleep around though; she's not an Angel Starr. But she does drink - a lot.
  537. Despite all that, Excellen is a very intelligent woman and a great mech pilot. She's actually quite insightful and loyal as well. She starts a relationship with the broodingly serious Kyosuke, and would fight to the death for him, even though she's always trying to get him to be more romantic. She is also one of the few people to really get to know Lamia Loveless. If you read my writeup on Lamia, you'd know how big of a task that would have been.
  539. The one fatal flaw of Excellen is something I'm possibly looking too far into - her flirtatious nature. I can see Excellen's sexual teasing backfiring a lot and leading to no small share of problems. I'm not sure if it's something you could get her to stop doing or not, but I still don't like it.
  541. Even without that, there are just plain plenty of girls I like better design-wise, and being hot can only get you so far. Excellen is still a perfectly fine waifu though.
  543. 42. Asuka Langley Soryu (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
  544. https://warosu.org/data/cgl/img/0071/41/1381436934101.png
  545. Just for the record, I'm not taking the Rebuild series into account with this ranking. I love the original series, and I know this character all too well, so I'm sticking with it. And her redesigned plug suit is terrible.
  547. Asuka is the master of the mixed message. She likes Shinji, yet abuses him all the time. Shinji is a well-known doormat, so the cycle just keeps going on and on. Asuka pretty overtly flirts with Shinji too - but when both characters have such low self-esteem going on, it's just not going to work out no matter how strong the attraction is. And Asuka doesn't take rejection or failure well. AT ALL. Aside from the outright psycho girls on this list, Asuka easily has the most childhood trauma and psychological issues - I'm not so sure about a suicidal waifu.
  549. Design and looks-wise Asuka is top tier. Her red plug suit (besides being rather form-fitting) matches both her red-blooded personality in battle and her hair. Blue eyes and red hair are always great, and Asuka is pretty much perfectly built. I can only see her getting even more attractive with age.
  551. Mental issues aside, I think Asuka would be an exciting waifu to have. She's always flirtatious and (inadvertently) funny, and I think that with no small amount of effort, I could get her to accept my support when her issues tear at her.
  553. This is mostly speculation though - there was never a true resolution to her story in the series. Thus I would call Asuka a Waifu in-progress.
  555. 41. Felicity Smoak (Arrow)
  556. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131010022322/marvel_dc/images/8/8a/Felicity_Smoak_(Arrow)_002.png
  557. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/320/3/4/arrow16_by_edartgeek-d6ui2xa.gif
  558. I'll start with the negative here. Felicity embodies the Hollywood Nerd stereotype. So many live-action series that I've seen cast a really hot girl as the protagonist's computer support or whatever tech-based thing they need. They give the girl glasses and 1 or 2 stereotypical awkward girl quirks, and they're done. It's so stupidly obvious that they're marketing the character to the 20-something nerdy male audience that it disgusts me.
  560. It's a shame, because Felicity is pretty good aside from being an annoying stereotype. She may be competing against 2D waifus, but this girl manages to look good in everything. Low-cut dresses, hair tied back, glasses, miniskirts. . . yeah, she's just really attractive. My bias for blondes really shows here in the live-action world (or more a genetic predisposition, whatever). Blonde hair plus a cute face plus classic red lipstick is just too good for me.
  562. Her personality is pretty much built specifically to ship tease her and Oliver. Pretty much every other sentence she says comes out as unintentional sexual innuendo, and she basically can't make her attraction for Oliver any more obvious than she already does. The way she covers up her constant embarrassment is pretty funny too.
  564. I like how straightforward she is, and think she'd make a decent waifu. But in the long run, I'd just spend too much time facepalming at everything she says coming out as innuendo.
  566. 40. Domino (X-men)
  567. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5a/DominoX-Men.jpg
  568. http://thegameleague.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/543px-domino_deadpool.jpg
  569. Surprisingly, I had never heard of Domino prior to this project. And I really like her - her design is straight up amazing. It is very 90's edgy, but not over-the-top like many other 90's Marvel characters. Being incredibly sexy is a given, but black bodysuits only add to the attractiveness. A girl that knows her way around a gun is always cool, but Domino takes it a billion steps further, thanks to her luck and probability-altering powers. It's a naturally occurring power, but still, it's quite a useful ability for someone in her line of work.
  571. Domino isn't unique personality-wise, but her portrayal is consistent and she's an exciting character. She can nearly keep up with Deadpool and She-Hulk in the snark department, and always just seems to have a stylishness with which she does her jobs, and it just seems like she's unstoppable when she puts her mind to something. Though she's willing to admit when she can't handle everything herself. Despite being a mercenary she almost always helps out the X-men, and forms one of the fiercest duos in comics with her love interest Cable. Just let that sink in for a minute. You've gotta be a hell of a lady to date Cable.
  573. The thing that drags Domino down for me is a common failing for characters of her archetype - she tends to like working solo and rarely stays with any one team for long. She has a strange backstory of being an experimental subject (where she gained her powers), and then broken out by her mother and dropped off with nuns. When she ran off to become a mercenary, it was pretty obvious that she's not someone who will always be there. She is pretty devoted to Cable, but their relationship is very on-again off-again.
  575. A waifu always has to be there for you. I'm not saying they have to stay in the kitchen, but I don't want a waifu who leaves every few months to be honest.
  577. 39. Akari Mizunashi (ARIA)
  578. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e392/kid_65/Legendary%20Guitar/Aria/AkariMizunashi.jpg
  579. Akari is in an awkward place for me. She has pretty much every quality I could want from a waifu. She's cute and very down-to-earth, idealistic and kind, and very rarely is not energetic and happy. I'd take a ride in her gondola anytime (I don't mean that as innuendo, I promise). I like how she ditches shoes often too - shoes are overrated.
  581. But at the same time, her design isn't anything special, and she almost leans towards generic. Aside from her pink hair and unique styling of it, I probably COULD call her generic. Even setting aside the design, she is simply overtaken by too many other waifus to stand out in the looks department.
  583. Personality-wise she suffers from being a bit too naive and sentimental as a result of her extreme idealism. Her naivety is such that I question whether or not she's mature enough for me. And her sentimentality. . . let's just say she feels sympathy for chocolates that have fallen on the ground because they won't be eaten. Yeaaaaaaaah. And it may be a product of series' slow pace, but I just don't see a lot of interesting personality traits with her.
  585. Like Asuka, I'd have to call Akari a Waifu in-progress. She's pretty close though.
  587. 38. Rikka Takanashi (Chuunibyou Demo Koi...)
  588. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/rikkacolor1.jpg
  589. http://theotakuspot.animeblogger.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/vlcsnap-2012-10-04-17h18m31s126.png
  590. There's still one more girl I have to give the dreaded Waifu in-progress label to - that's Rikka. Her simple design works in this case, and eyepatches are cool. And obviously she is just on a whole different level of adorable than anyone else on this ranking.
  592. Her personality is just as adorable as her appearance, but that's not the main thing to consider here. She suffers from frequent and incredibly-detailed delusions, like the main protagonist Yuta used to. She sees herself as a gothic lolita with a weaponized umbrella, and engages in drawn-out pretend fight scenes at the drop of a hat. Her delusions become less frequent and shorter as the series progresses, but she shows straight-out reluctance to give up her delusions (apparently her love for the protagonist weakens her delusions). Yes, Rikka is incapable of NOT being cute at all times, but there comes a point where a girl has too many weird quirks to truly earn the title of waifu.
  594. At the very least, she's quite direct and honest with her feelings for Yuta, entering a relationship with him about halfway through the first season. But they make a big thing out of her awkwardness and inexperience in relationships, and typically has to be pushed by others to take it further. She just seems to have an almost complete lack of maturity due to engaging completely in her delusions for so long.
  596. So yes, Rikka is clearly a Waifu in-progress.
  598. 37. Colette Brunel (Tales of Symphonia)
  599. http://myanimeshelf.com/eva2/upload/08890d522443568de426d190b0537787/TALES_OF_SYMPHONIA_THE_ANIMATION.jpg
  600. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/Emmy19/colettefright_zps91d4ce1d.gif
  601. One of the main reasons I put all this effort into researching each waifu is to eliminate as much personal bias as possible. Case and point: I probably would have ranked Colette top 10 if I just relied on wiki info. Or at least top 20. I've beaten ToS 10 times, its the reason I got into RPGs, and I even bought the collector's edition of ToS Chronicles, so my personal bias for this game can't be overstated.
  603. Anyway, my first instinct was to rank Colette much higher, but the truth is that she's far from perfect. Her various quirks can be cute at times, but for example, her tendency to take things literally would get annoying pretty fast. I know this from experience. And her clumsiness (at least in ToS, my mind is hazy on the sequel) exceeds that of Adrian Andrews. Do you trust Colette with the power of flight? I don't.
  605. Her personality as a whole though, is pretty adorable. She's kind and idealistic, but not annoyingly so like Akari. The scene that sums Colette up in my mind is when she first reunites with Lloyd in the anime OVA, and glomps the hell out of him. She's generally all over Lloyd anytime the two appear together, and their pairing scene in DotNW is great. Sign me up please. Not to mention her voice in both english and japanese is the best ever.
  607. Design-wise she's pretty basic, but I know it was probably intentional, seeing how Colette deconstructs the "chosen one" trope. She's still top tier in cuteness easily - with those meltingly-adorable blue eyes and the purest blonde hair that remains unmatched by anyone. Though I have to admit - she isn't too developed body-wise despite her age. Even in the sequel she's an. . . Ironing Board. : |
  609. Colette is a good choice for a waifu, don't get me wrong. But her various annoying quirks and lack of sexiness (she's 18 in the sequel, and looks about as mature as Presea x_x) drag her down.
  611. 36. Shantae (Shantae series)
  612. http://dev.dualshockers.com:8000/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/shantae_main.png
  613. http://www.gamingunion.net/newsimg/shantae-and-the-pirates-curse-official-trailer.jpg
  614. Shantae faces an uphill battle against her series art style. The first 2 games adhered to the classic 2D platformer style. While the style isn't bad, it doesn't exactly do well in creating attractive women. That Pirate's Curse art managed to single-handedly push Shantae up a few slots. Still pretty cartoonish, but her proportions are much better. Her face is much cuter than in previous games, and her body is much more. . . shapely. When you're going for a belly dancer look, that's important.
  616. Personality-wise, she unfortunately sticks to 2D platformer tropes again. She's a lot more talkative than traditional platformer protagonists, but her personality is pretty basic. She's idealistic (to a point) and surprisingly down-to-earth for a (half) genie. There just isn't enough dialogue in the games to figure out more than that. Well, she's sexy and she'll belly dance for you. That alone gets Shantae some points.
  618. All things considered Shantae is a good waifu that could potentially be great if her personality was expanded on more.
  620. 35. Chitoge Kirisaki (Nisekoi)
  621. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140202165523/animebaths/images/b/b7/Chitoge_Kirisaki.jpg
  622. http://th01.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2014/093/7/b/nisekoi_kirisaki_chitoge_hyper_cute_dress_png_by_otakurenders_service-d7cvjsw.png
  623. The first image is SFW, I promise.
  625. If this were a tsundere ranking, Chitoge might just win. If I was ranking purely on looks, she'd make top 10. I will never understand how those guys in the other waifu topic don't find Chitoge attractive. She's pretty dead-on for how I want a waifu to look. Her overall design isn't anything special, but its the little things I like. The expressive red ribbon is cute as hell, and I love those pink highlights in her hair. And she is freaking hot, especially when she puts on that red dress. They've said that the creator tried to make her look like supermodel - they succeeded (despite what you may think, most anime girls don't look like supermodels).
  627. Then we get to her personality. Yes, she displays most of the tropes you'd expect from a tsundere. Chitoge didn't have much experience with actual friendship prior to the series start, due to having an overprotective mafia boss as a father. She was used to getting everything she wanted (besides friends) because of her father's persuasion (via guns). There are worse ways she could have turned out. Due to some mafia vs yakuza dispute, she and main protagonist Raku (son of yakuza boss) are forced to be in a fake relationship. As you may have guessed, they do fall in love for real.
  629. Chitoge starts out with a hair-trigger temper and violent tendencies, but becomes far more mellow by the halfway point of the series. She can actually be very sweet when not flustered or bickering with Raku, and she manages to make quite a few friends. Even with Raku, she eventually is much kinder and overlooks things that most tsunderes would punish their love interest for immediately.
  631. The main thing going against her is just how long it takes her to recognize her feelings for Chitoge. There's definitely some inexperience to blame, but she spends such a long time denying her feelings to herself, much less to Raku. She eventually shows signs of affection towards Raku, but she's a bit too subtle for a proto-typical oblivious-to-love protagonist like Raku. And it should go without saying at this point, but she lacks most traditional waifu traits, and would probably have a hard time showing legitimate affection in public.
  633. Chitoge is really, really attractive and I wouldn't at all mind having her as a waifu. But she just has flaws that most of the girls above her simply don't have.
  635. 34. Dolce (Rune Factory 4)
  636. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120716213322/harvestmoonrunefactory/images/f/f3/Dolce_normal.png
  637. On a basic level, I rather like Dolce. Her good looks combined with her somewhat-bored expression and deadpan manner of speaking is a terrific combination. She has a comforting aura despite rarely showing strong emotion - and a nice hat.
  639. At the same time, there are many different things going against her. First is her irritating familiar/ghost stalker Pico, who never leaves and is just plain annoying. At least Dolce finds her just as annoying. Secondly, I'm just not completely sold on her design. I typically like the gothic look, but I just don't think it works that well without black clothing. I honestly prefer the moments where you get to see her in a plain nightgown, just because it shows off her surprisingly impressive figure a bit more.
  641. Lastly, Dolce has some issues as far as expressing herself go. Her awkwardness can be funny at times, but it also causes some turmoil between her and her adoptive parents. She has a tendency to be rather blunt and say some hurtful things as a cover for her real feelings. I don't see this as a character trait that would go away over time for her, and it worries me as far as being a waifu goes. Dolce is certainly an acceptable waifu though.
  643. 33. Kohaku (Tsukihime)
  644. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130210213732/typemoon/images/9/9e/Kohakuremake.png
  645. http://i.imgur.com/lH6gv.jpg
  646. Kohaku is a very complicated case. She's a very attractive woman, and looks really nice in a kimono. Her design is pretty disappointingly basic, with her being stuck in generic maid outfits and her unassuming kimono. But she is also very upbeat and energetic, a bit clumsy, and most importantly a master chef. Being a good cook is always a plus for me. AND she plays video games? Kohaku hits most every quality I'd want from a waifu.
  648. But she's also crazy - and I don't know just HOW crazy tbh. She's a plotting type, and the grudges she holds are pretty understandable, but she is apparently not a vengeful type. Her various plots are more a way of coping with the intense pain she internalizes. This clearly is not a good thing, seeing as she bottles up her emotions until she attempts suicide.
  650. Things do end up working out in Kohaku's route in the story, but that's only the beginning. In further games, her plotting nature and various other insane quirks are exaggerated. Particularly, there's the "NEEDLE TIME" thing. She's suddenly a mad scientist now? Okkkkkkkay then.
  652. Kohaku's moments of craziness and pretty generic design drag her down, but I certainly would not pass on her as a waifu.
  654. 32. Buffy Summers (Buffy)
  655. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140122172820/buffy/images/e/e3/S5a20.jpg
  656. Yep, it's Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar is hot. She kills vampires. If only I could just end the writeup there. . .
  658. So I never really got into the Buffy series - I was a bit too young during its heyday. But seeing as my main source is tvtropes, I had no trouble at all finding detailed information. Buffy's a character that's been all over the place, has played with tons of archetypes, has died twice, and most importantly, has slept around A LOT.
  660. Don't get me wrong, Buffy is a brilliantly-portrayed character, and is just plain fun to be around. And is a canon sex goddess. I don't think anything bedroom-related is out of the question with her (but the threat of being emasculated is very real too). As a related issue, Buffy seems like she lets her power go to her head at times, and I'd be concerned about her playing the power card in a relationship with a non-powered guy like me.
  662. But a girl like Buffy - I don't know if I can trust her to stay loyal. She sleeps around so freaking much that even as a waifu, I think she'd still want some vampire lovin. Vampires ruin everything : | .
  664. 31. Sena Kashiwazaki (Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai)
  665. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JkmOEV1vkEs/UUwgj0iYtiI/AAAAAAAAIdk/4CESFJ81rsA/s1600/Boku_wa_Tomodachi_ga_Sukunai_NEXT_10_Sena_Kashiwazaki%252C_Yozora_Mikazuki.jpg
  666. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HmCakzJH6jw/UWFHUd1FwOI/AAAAAAAAAXk/YVrEqLgE8J4/s1600/Sena-Kashiwazaki-boku-wa-tomodachi-ga-sukunai-30624189-720-675.jpg
  667. I just can't get over the girls' heads being slightly too small in this series, and Sena suffers further thanks to her gigantic rack. She's obviously very, very hot aside from that, and her design is pretty good. Though there's not a whole lot more you need than blonde hair and an amazing body. The snaggletooth thing is kinda cute too.
  669. Personality-wise she can be quite haughty and egotistical , though she gets better over time. She may also be overly sensitive to criticism, typically running out of the room in tears whenever Yozora abuses her. It might just be that Yozora knows how to press her buttons though. She's also got plenty of other weird quirks, like invoking mystical superstitions to take revenge on Yozora and taking her eroges a bit too seriously. Sena is in fact a gamer chick, which is always a plus, but she takes her games too seriously at times. She once learned how to swim specifically because a character in one of her eroges invited her to go swimming. Even for me that's a little crazy.
  671. She makes up for it a little for straight-up confessing to Kodaka.
  672. There's also little doubt in my mind that she wouldn't be shy about doing the deed and then some. Sena could make a great waifu yet.
  674. 30. Chie Satonaka (Persona 4)
  675. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/images/5/5b/P4U_Chie_Portrait.png
  676. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/0/1992/2417727-2013_01_20_193032.jpg
  677. Poor Chie. You could have probably managed a higher ranking if you weren't from the top tier waifu-packed Persona 4. I do really like you, but you're not quite as ideal a waifu as the other main P4 girls.
  679. I do like her design. . . and by that I mean her jacket is amazing. As far as the rest of her appearance goes, she's got really nice legs and not much else that's noteworthy. She's attractive, but hardly exceptional. Chie does easily look the best with glasses though, and as shown in the first pic, she has some amusing facial expressions.
  681. Chie's definitely a tomboy in personality, though not extremely so. She follows some stereotypes like loving steak, having a short temper (mostly with Yosuke) and being a horrible cook (not good, in fact I blame her entirely for Mystery Food X). But Chie is ultimately pretty fun and charming thanks to her obsession with kung-fu movies and martial arts in general and just being a bit awkward and nerdy in general. Compared to the other fighters in this topic, Chie represents the most realistic option to form a battle couple with a waifu.
  683. Chie does have issues with self-esteem and being seen as feminine in the game. Not only does she overcome these issues, she takes on a new more feminine design too. I definitely like that they grow out her lame haircut, but she also loses some of the nerd cred that her old jacket gave her. I'd say its a wash.
  685. 29. Estelle Bright (Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky)
  686. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/3/30280/1750625-estellebright.jpg
  687. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140408134102/p__/protagonist/images/1/1d/Estelle.Bright.full.1075553.jpg
  688. http://static.zerochan.net/Estelle.Bright.full.849819.jpg
  689. Estelle has the potential to be a top tier waifu. She's really grown on me since I started this ranking, but it comes down to a simple lack of information that drags her down. Her story and development stretches through 3 games, but only the first of those has readily available information and YT vids, and the plot of that game doesn't focus on Estelle herself. So it is tough to tell how she develops over time.
  691. But Estelle's really cute - I love her facial expressions too. Her design evolves with her, starting out with a rather childish outfit to show her initial lack of maturity, and then she suddenly gets a far more attractive outfit in the later games. Personality-wise I can only really judge from the first game, where her development is quite subtle. She's a pretty well-balanced and down to earth person, though prone to fits of childish behavior and occasionally running off into trouble at the drop of a hat. It seems like seeing more of the world and traveling with her adopted brother and love interest helps her mature.
  693. For me, Estelle's final scene in the first game really showed how much she had changed with her confessing to Joshua along with her resolution at the start of the second game.
  695. But again, Estelle might easily be top 10 material if I could find out just how much she develops over the course of the other 2 games. But as it stands right now Estelle could stand to gain a bit more maturity. She's still a good waifu as is, and her straight-up determination and worldiness definitely won me over.
  697. 28. Surugu Kanbaru (Monogatari series)
  698. http://guriguriblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/snapshot20091005160248.jpg
  699. http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/361/2/1/bakemonogatari___suruga_kanbaru_by_paperjoey-d4kfdd1.png
  700. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130801075938/bakemonogatari1645/images/b/bd/Suruga_second_season.jpg
  701. Again, I really need to watch the other seasons of Monogatari. When Kanbaru got in this, my first thought was "b-but she likes girls, and only Hitagi at that". Turns out she did ultimately move on, and it was pretty obvious she'll go either way. So that's that.
  703. Kanbaru is fine. Superfine even. It was hard to tell in Bakemonogatari, but she really shows off her incredibly curvy and hot body in later seasons. Kanbaru was really cute before, but she only gets better.
  705. Seeing as how this is Monogatari, she's a master troll and snarker - everyone in the series is. Like Hitagi, her humor usually consists of random sexual comments and trying to get a rise out of people. Though unlike Hitagi, she'll do this to anyone - for example, she answers the phone with "This is Kanbaru, currently employed as Araragi's love slave".
  707. Being perverted is just Kanbaru's entire thing - she has an apartment filled with H-manga, has pretty much every sexual kink you can think of, and molests Araragi. Often. Up to and including forcibly stripping him. This isn't a bad thing persay, but there's a point where the perversion needs to stay in private.
  709. One other thing that made me wary was the monkey arm - I ain't into that stuff. The monkey arm does eventually go away, though this happens in a Kanbaru-centered story that I don't have all the facts on. Kanbaru isn't convinced it is gone for good though, so I'm not all convinced myself.
  711. Kanbaru's a cool character and a better-than average waifu. But not the best.
  713. 27. Serah Farron (Final Fantasy XIII-2)
  714. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110823003201/finalfantasy/images/archive/a/a7/20110823012025!Ffxiii_2_serah_cg_render.png
  715. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120407023356/finalfantasy/images/4/42/Serah_Farron_-_Style_and_Steel.png
  716. At first glance, Serah appeared to have everything I'd want in a waifu. Her design was nothing special in XIII, but she got REALLY attractive in XIII-2. That's the kind of thing that happens when you go from side character to protagonist, but her design in that game is just super sexy. Bows are cool too. Hot and sexy redesign aside, Serah has a more subtle attractiveness about her than other waifus. I rather like it.
  718. Serah doesn't have many unique traits personality-wise that I saw, but she seems to have a caring, worldly demeanor that is great for a waifu. She's basically already an actual waifu to Snow, and is quite devoted to him (and to her sister Lightning despite her disappearance). Serah is also a teacher, apparently, and has a reputation for being strict. This is. . . mostly a good thing. It's good to know she can discipline kids despite her kind personality.
  720. There are a few things that drag Serah down though. I haven't seen this in-game, but she has a short temper according to other characters, and is like Lightning when she's angry. I haven't played any XIII games, but Lightning punches people when she's angry. Yeah, I'll pass on that.
  722. There is another negative that came with my overthinking - Serah seems to always be relying on someone else to solve problems for her. Yes, she couldn't really help it in the situation she was in in the first game, but even in XIII-2 this is an issue. Snow was the one who went off in search of Lightning at first, and Serah stayed behind until Noel showed up. And her weapon in the game is a Mog shapeshifted into a bow - I'm not sure if she'd even be able to fight without a living weapon. A quote from her in the first game is "The point is, I have people I can count on. I'll make it through."
  724. The above issue may just be a product of originally being a side character, but Serah honestly wouldn't have ranked much higher than this anyway. There are more interesting waifus than her.
  726. 26. Mikoto Misaka (A Certain Magical Index / Scientific Railgun)
  727. http://37.media.tumblr.com/36fe87a148871d3746ba1bbbd88a0c2b/tumblr_mx006fKrha1sh2fhfo1_1280.jpg
  728. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130327052238/powerlisting/images/5/5d/Misaka_mikoto.png
  729. The many blushes of Misaka:

  731. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn139/animangamania/vlcsnap-2010-10-10-14h21m02s253.png
  732. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_CGjC0tngt04/TGl9fr7bb4I/AAAAAAAAApY/HMwpXU7Uye0/s1600/snapshot20100816110249.jpg
  733. http://1-media-cdn.foolz.us/ffuuka/board/a/image/1355/48/1355488918975.jpg
  734. I think you know why I like Misaka by now. I haven't watched Raildex and I don't really care to atm, but Misaka is literally the cutest tsundere ever. Her design isn't anything special, but she's still very cute and has a well-defined body for her age. She doesn't really come off as sexy, but she doesn't need to. Anytime she blushes and her adorable voice trails off (which is pretty much 3 times in any episode she appears in), I just have a complete moegasm. She's just too freaking adorable.
  736. This is pretty much the sole reason I prefer Misaka over the more visually-attractive Chitoge. Her frequent blushing and awkwardness in front of her love interest couldn't make her attraction more obvious. Unfortunately Touma is pretty much famous for his obliviousness, so nothing's happening there.
  738. Misaka's tsun side is at least as pronounced as her dere side is - she can be egotistical and prone to delivering abuse. While she gets better over time on the former, the latter issue remains a concern. While I pretty much only see her direct her fury at Touma or her (played for laughs) female stalker with a crush, she does it with electrical and magnetism-based powers that put Magneto to shame. Touma can pretty much cancel her attacks out at will, but she DID catch him off-guard a few times and badly hurt him. And that's one of the most powerful people in the series. I will pass on getting zapped by Misaka, even if there's a chance she wouldn't use her powers on a normal guy like me.
  740. Misaka is really, really close, but I'd prefer to know if she'd zap people besides fantasy science/magic/whatever users who could take the abuse.
  742. 25. Claire Redfield (Resident Evil)
  743. http://static2.minitokyo.net/view/36/32/416636.jpg
  744. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2928/claireredfield.jpg
  745. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m91ab81ULk1roezlpo4_1280.jpg
  746. Claire's sexy as hell, but you guys know that already. She's also got the best backside in. . . ever. Her design was always quick to show off her greatest asset too.
  748. Claire has a great mix of tomboy and traditionally feminine traits. On one hand she can take out zombies as well as any protagonist, despite no formal training. She also rides freaking motorcycles, and is the best snarker in the RE series. On the other hand, she chooses to work with a human rights organization that helps victims of bioterrorism (instead of an active combat group), and shows off her affinity for helping and protecting people (specially children) often in the games. She has a warm and motherly personality and cares deeply for people she just met hours ago, much less Sherry or her brother.
  750. Claire could be top 10 on other waifu lists, but I'm required to overthink things, and here's what I came up with. Claire may just be too serious, and a bit of a workaholic. She is kept very busy by her human rights organization work, and keeps her body and fighting skills up to par too. While Claire will joke about barely having time to keep in touch with Chris and others, I'm not sure if she even seriously considered a relationship before. She's got files and such in-universe, none of which mention her having a relationship. I personally think Leon and Claire would've made a good match - but of course Claire ships Leon/Ada. She may have a hidden romantic streak about her yet, but it just seems like she finds most everything else more important.
  752. Guess I'd have to join her organization if I wanted quality time with her. And she'd be too busy punching out U.S. Senators anyhow.
  754. 24. Sumika Kagami (Muv-Luv)
  755. http://1-media-cdn.foolz.us/ffuuka/board/a/image/1341/79/1341799818567.png
  756. http://randomc.net/image/Muv-Luv/Muv-Luv%20Extra%20-%20Large%2001.jpg
  757. http://i.imgur.com/oXroV.jpg
  758. I'll be straight with you guys - I don't like Sumika's design. That random yellow bow that's on every single one of her designs that look like fairy wings? It just looks stupid and is unneeded, and yet its the signature part of her design. Ugh. And none of those uniforms she wears are attractive to me in the slightest. Even her first (and best) design is kind of dumb - who wears a sweater with a skirt and tights?
  760. Even though they try to ruin her, Sumika is still really cute. She manages to make red hair and red eyes look really good, and emotive hair antennae is probably the best anime hair stereotype ever. And as you can see in the latter 2 pics, her facial expressions are all adorable as hell. Though I still can't figure out how busty she is in canon with the mix of official and fanart that comes up in my searches.
  762. Personality-wise, I'd say Sumika isn't always at her best in this series. She does physically abuse the protagonist a lot, but the protagonist actively provokes her too, so I can hardly call her out on that. She is a classic patient childhood love interest for the protag - despite the abuse he throws her way, she's completely devoted to him and doesn't even seem to care if he never expresses interest in her. I almost think she's TOO patient with him - helping him out with things following long verbal showdowns and abuse wars.
  764. But there's little denying that she has a bit of a short fuse, and shows clingy jealous tendencies when the protag shows interest in other girls. But she admits at one point that some of her antics are an act to keep her amazingly-dense love interest's attention, so she may just be playing up her jealousy. But being attention-starved isn't exactly a good thing either.
  766. Long story short: lose the wings and dumb uniforms, then we'll talk.
  768. 23. Rydia (Final Fantasy IV and The After Years)
  769. http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/sinnatious/11911588/306085/306085_original.jpg
  770. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120708194107/finalfantasy/images/8/80/After_Rydia.png
  771. http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq274/nicknameflipper/Final%20Fantasy%20and%20Kingdom%20Hearts/Cgi-rydia.jpg
  772. Rydia gets this far based almost entirely on her design and looks - she just looks amazing at all times. Green's a sexy color, and her costume is revealing enough to prove that she pretty much has it all looks-wise. She is one fine woman. And she's a summoner that also uses a whip. Wow.
  774. Rydia's personality, for me, is a strange case. She definitely has some child-like innocence and naivety about her, no doubt caused by her time in the Feymarch. But at the same time she has plenty of spunk in some of her dialogue (mostly abuse of Edge). Out of all the party members, Rydia is the most emotive and arguably the heart of the group. She also has a cute way of being quite direct with people, most famously just telling Edward to get over his entire kingdom being destroyed.
  776. The thing that gets me here is that Rydia's devotions lie entirely with her late mother and her companions. Her focus in After Years is saving her Eidolons and dealing with her mother's legacy. I'm not even sure that romantic love is a notion that's even crossed Rydia's mind. I'd almost prefer it if she just got paired off with Edge. I really think that even if Rydia did like Edge, she wouldn't even realize it.
  778. That said, I don't think I could even rank her much higher than this regardless. There is just very little about her personality that excites me, though it is clear she would make a good waifu if romance was a concept she even slightly grasped. I know I'm really reaching for negatives about waifus at this point, but we're pretty high up in the rankings. I have to separate them somehow.
  780. 22. Death (The Sandman)
  781. http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/9900000/Vertigo-Comics-Death-vertigo-comics-9972850-416-444.jpg
  782. http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_small/0/574/81541-189148-death.jpg
  783. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6nkmvUkEN1rrro4yo1_500.jpg
  784. Based on first impressions, Death was a top 10 waifu easily. The very personification of Death, and she's the kindest and most caring woman ever. She can comfort people in their dying moments, so its only natural that it'd be great to be with her in life. While I'm not a particular fan of the goth look, and she also has some terrible 80s hair in the earlier stories, she can apparently change her appearance depending on how people see her. Despite that she's still very attractive, and her smile is infectious.
  786. Even though she is Death, she can also grant the gift of life. If she wants, she can keep you alive for hundreds of years - sounds good to me.
  788. Unfortunately, I found an unexpected piece of information today. Due to being an Endless, she must follow a set of ancient guidelines. The info is vague, but if an Endless falls in love with a mortal, said mortal is "doomed". I'm no expert, but that sounds bad. Death has found loopholes in her ancient guidelines before, so I think she could potentially do it again.
  790. Another possible problem comes from being Death, and being present every time something dies (including when CONCEPTS die). She's complained about being overworked, so I think it might take a big toll on her when she has to be in millions of places at once (literally). Also, being Death, she doesn't seem to see dying as a bad thing. Thus I can't be sure if she actually WOULD grant a suspension from death.
  792. Could one just live in Death's realm then? I don't know, and I honestly doubt it. She's still the cutest and kindest Grim Reaper ever.
  794. 21. Lilith (Borderlands)
  795. http://www.threatormenace.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Borderlands-LilithPose01.jpg
  796. http://37.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbn8q8pg9z1ruv687o1_1280.jpg
  797. http://wallpoper.com/images/00/39/00/61/borderlands-lilith_00390061.jpg
  798. Something just doesn't sit right with me concerning Lilith's appearance. Yeah she's got a really hot body and her tattoos are really sexy and redheads are awesome. But her face just seems weirdly-shaped and her neck is overly-long. The model Lilith was apparently based off of looks better. At least her powers in BL2 are awesome-looking.
  800. Regardless, Lilith's personality is really cute. She's into tabletop games and things of that nature, giving her major nerd cred, and generally snarky and exciting to be around. And she's adorably awkward around Roland (he isn't amused). You may expect a "Siren" to ooze sex appeal too - she does. . . in a way. She uses the internet for its primary purpose, and has no qualms about announcing her intentions of forcibly stripping Roland. All good so far.
  802. The only problem is that her VA isn't really up to the task of capturing all that. She can definitely snark, but she doesn't really have the dynamic tone needed to make adorable awkwardness. . . adorably awkward. She just sounds indifferent instead of awkwardly charming, and ruins the appeal of the trait for me.
  804. If you're looking for an attractive, snarky and direct waifu who can lay a beatdown on thousands, Lilith's your girl.
  806. 20. Harley Quinn (Batman)

  810. Amazing Batman: TAS moments:

  813. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYSNUL2hrQM
  814. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oldtroLb3zw
  815. It should be obvious that I love me some Harley -TAS created her and developed her backstory and personality perfectly. Her energy, design and pure cuteness made her different from every single other villain, and I knew any episode with her in it would be amazing. I just can't help but love a character who's always so cheerful despite being thrown in jail all the time and being in such a messed-up relationship with Mr. J/Puddin. Not to mention Arleen Sorkin's voice for her is nearly as iconic as Mark Hamill's Joker.
  817. Yeah she's quite psycho and has done some horrible things, but she does it FOR LOVE AND WITH A SMILE. And I think to a point, Harley wouldn't do stuff like murder people if not for the Joker. She never kills people while hanging out with Poison Ivy, to my knowledge.
  819. But of course, it was only a matter of time before the comic world did what it does best - ruin characters. She still commits mass murder from time to time even during her separations from Joker, and has underwent many bad redesigns. Red and blue hair, gritty reboots and some rather unfitting Arkham redesigns too. And at one point her affections switch to DEADSHOT of all people (spoiler: Deadshot is even less interested than Joker). I also think its possible Harley could go into yandere territory even if her devotions didn't lie with a villain - another dangerous possibility.
  821. Finally, there are moments even in TAS where she some concerning behavior. As funny as forcibly making out with Batman is, she is pretty much cheating on Joker, and she just seems to be a bit of a cheap date in general. Now it may just be because Mr. J is such a horrible partner, but when we're this high up in the rankings, any doubt in my mind has to be taken into account.
  823. Harley could easily be top 10 if not for a small issue or 2. She's still pretty legit as a waifu.
  825. 19. Rise Kujikawa (Persona 4)

  829. You know, I've mostly tried to avoid swimsuit pics for this topic because being a waifu is about more than just showing skin and looking hot. But for Rise, that gold bikini is basically an iconic look for her, so I broke my rule here.
  831. Compared to the other girls of Persona 4, Rise doesn't have the shyness/shame about her body that the others have. She's a japanese teen idol, so she really can't afford to be shy either way. She shows her affections for the protagonist openly and often, even if you don't pursue her romance. She does display some clingy jealous tendencies, but she does eventually cede to whoever Yu romances. Rise is energetic and really, really cute and sexy, and has a cool-headed personality at almost all times. She's also far more willing than any of the other girls to joke around and actually be good at doing so. And her VAs are Laura Bailey and Rie Kugimiya. Can't do much better than that.
  833. Though there is one thing Rise does that annoys me. She tends to use her feminine charms and bouts of fake crying to get things to go her way. I'm sure she's used to getting what she wants from managers and assistants and what not, but I don't know how that trait came about so fast. She definitely has mad acting skills, so it might be easy to get someone like me to fall for it. Though her skills could be useful for bedroom rolepl-. . . sorry what.
  835. Rise's great though - she's got the perfect look and personality for a waifu. She's just not as good as some other Persona girls. Persona is just too good at making legit waifus.
  837. 18. Seras Victoria (Hellsing)
  838. http://mimg.ugo.com/200811/16859/seras-victoria.jpg

  841. http://wall.sf.co.ua/13/02/wallpaper-2624181.jpg
  842. It's been a long time since I last watched Hellsing Ultimate, but I remember really liking Seras. Who wouldn't? She kills vampires by the hundreds, is cute, adorably awkward/snarky and really sexy. And battle-worn tights are the best kind of tights. Not to mention she replaces her already awesome oversized guns with freaking shadow tentacles once she embraces her vampire. . . ness.
  844. The first issue with Seras should be evident from the third picture - she tends to really Hulk out in battle. Not a problem for male characters or in like, DBZ, but this definitely overrides Seras' attractiveness in battle scenes, which the majority of the OVA consists of following ep 6. Second, is her dub voice. Her original japanese voice did a good job of being cute normally and flying into a rage when provoked by an enemy. Her dub voice. . . let's just say it takes a certain kind of British accent to win me over. It's fine normally, but it just sounds like she's trying too hard to be moe at times and failing at it. I'm probably the only person ever to switch Xenoblade's voices to japanese
  846. It always seemed a little weird to me how sexualized Seras' design was given the nature of the series, but that's not a big enough issue for me. What may be an issue though, is Seras' fear of sex and related things due to an overly tragic childhood. While it's often played for laughs in her scenes with Pip, it remains a concern for me. She might have gotten over it a little bit over the course of the series though. Thanks not only to Pip, but possibly Integra too ;)
  848. Overall Seras is a pretty good choice for a waifu, but she could be better. She'd have to be to break the top 10 here.
  850. 17. Chii (Chobits)
  851. https://skyvory.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/chobits_05_16-28_2012-06-17_02-25-52.jpg

  853. http://wallpoper.com/images/00/32/26/21/chobits-chii_00322621.jpg
  854. Another series I watched a very long time ago - Chii is disgustingly adorable in every aspect. I wouldn't call her sexy, really, but it takes little more than a glance and a few words from her to set off the moe alarms. Chii almost has the look of an angel with her long flowing blonde hair and how effortlessly she fits into all kinds of elaborate costumes.
  856. Chii is a robot girl who lacks the ability to do the deed quite literally, but makes up for it by being just super affectionate, kind and innocent in personality. Also, learning love and pretty much everything must be difficult for an android that didn't start with much in the way of knowledge, but she's able to do it with an unmatched level of cuteness. She also has nearly all the waifu skills by the series end.
  858. But there's little doubt that Chii may be a bit difficult to deal with regardless. Even by the end of the show, she's not speaking much more than short, broken sentences, and still lacks a lot of basic worldly knowledge. I could somewhat consider that Hideki may not be that good of a teacher, but I wouldn't be so sure about myself either. It'd be kinda tough.
  860. Chii's a legit waifu though, there's no doubting that. But there are just a good number I like better.
  862. 16. Tomoyo Sakagami (CLANNAD)
  863. http://nekomononga.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/clannad-241.jpg
  864. http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/28800000/tomoyo-sakagami-sakagami-tomoyo-28835046-638-881.png
  865. http://honya-ch.com/wp-content/uploads/clannad01_04.jpg
  866. So Tomoyo is (obviously) incredibly, incredibly cute. I'm not all that crazy about Clannad's art style, but it makes Tomoyo look good. Her body is quite curvy and attractive too.
  868. And then you get to her personality and other traits, and its completely at odds with her appearance. She's a reformed delinquent with TERRIFYING physical prowess. Family disputes made her cold and disillusioned, and took out her anger by beating up entire gangs singlehandedly. Following an incident involving her little brother, she vowed to protect him and give up her street fighting ways.
  870. By the time of the actual series, Tomoyo is pretty well-adjusted, though her speech patterns are coarse and she's definitely not that feminine in personality. She's calm and collected most of the time, and almost never raises her voice at people. Tomoyo is pretty mature (besides her mostly failed attempts to be more feminine) and tries to avoid conflict, but she'll go complete overkill on you if you repeatedly provoke her or try to hurt her friends. Though its mostly played for laughs, since the series' resident butt monkey Sunohara keeps challenging her to fights. I'd probably say the overkill she uses against him is meant to send a message, but he's just too stupid for that. I am a bit disappointed that she's never given a serious fight scene though, and just kicks everyone 20 feet into the air for an insta-win.
  872. I think its really cute how at odds her adorable appearance is with her rough and somewhat deep voice, and her mostly stoic personality helps with that too. Her more profound moments where she breaks her stoicism stand out even more as a result. It's clear that she's a very warm and down-to-earth girl, and worked really hard to move on from her dark past. AND she actually handles perverted comments from the protagonist maturely, and once even says she's glad he can think of her in that way.
  874. Negatives? Aside from slight art style concerns, I'd say the fact that she's at all willing to beat up Sunohara (who IS friends with her). Yes he's a butt monkey and its played for laughs, but Tomoyo still seems to enjoy fighting in general and parts of her delinquent lifestyle. I doubt she'd get back into beating up gangs, but she may just really want to kick someone's butt from time to time. And if Tomoyo was my waifu, I fear a disagreement may lead to me getting kicked straight into the trash can.
  876. Yeah I'm really reaching for negatives at this point, but I will say that there certainly are negatives for every waifu on this ranking save for the top 2. Tomoyo's pretty awesome though.
  878. 15. Holo (Spice and Wolf)

  883. Holo's adorable, and I want to hug her. /end writeup
  885. But seriously, Holo is a character I can't help but be drawn to despite not having watched Spice and Wolf. She's a harvest goddess whose true form is that of a gigantic wolf, and thus obviously gets to retain all the "cute" traits of a wolf in her human form (ears, tail, sharp teeth). Holo kind of looks like the human version of a starved wolf with those traits on top of her incredibly skinny frame. It just makes her all the more endearing. Except she doesn't like it when you touch her tail. . . : (
  887. Holo is pretty much the ultimate tease personality-wise, and it only makes her better. The never-ending snark wars between her and Lawrence are just plain fun to watch. At any time Holo could be verbally abusive or endearingly affectionate, depending on her mood. It is clear that Holo is a kind and loving goddess, though she's got a bit of an ego and legitimately enjoys messing with people from time to time. That seductive stare of hers in pic 4, however, is absolutely hypnotic. I'd be completely fine with Holo's brand of teasing.
  889. The other part of Holo's personality comes from her base wolf instincts. I wouldn't say Holo isn't wise, but her wolf instincts push her to do things like overeat/drink and get sick, or rub her scent on Lawrence to mark their companionship (that's not actually a bad thing though). Holo is possibly even cuter when sleeping off a hangover in bed, not to mention giving you a chance to look out for her for a change when her animal habits come back to bite her. Not only is she a snarky tease with the ability to rip things apart as a giant wolf, but she also makes you want to protect her through her adorable quirks. Few waifus can claim both of those.
  891. As for negatives, Holo's pride as a goddess could cause some issues as a waifu. Holo does get somewhat better as the series goes on, but I'd probably be hard-pressed to win any sort of disagreement or even decide when we go out drinking. And that would all depend on her mood too. Also, there's her voice. Her japanese voice is completely unfitting - it's your standard kawaii female voice. It doesn't fit a snarky character for me. Her english voice took me off-guard at first - she has a british accent and uses dated language. But it eventually grew on me, just because it's so adorable to hear her abuse Lawrence with that voice. It reminds me of the snarky girls I always liked in Shakespeare plays and whatnot. But I still think they could do better with someone like Keri Wahlgren (but I'm biased).
  893. Holo's a very good choice for a waifu, but not quite one of my top picks.
  895. 14. Garnet (Final Fantasy 9)

  899. http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/1519/37602/Garnet3.jpg
  900. how there isn't a decent image of her, erm, rear, I can find anywhere is beyond me
  902. For Garnet I'll get the negative out of the way first. Her design just doesn't sit well with me; it's like they intentionally had Garnet wear what she believed commoners wore in an attempt to blend in. And for me, her choice of clothing is only good for showing off her assets, and is pretty uninspired otherwise. Garnet is really sexy otherwise, don't get me wrong, and her facial expressions in FMVs are adorable and/or heartbreaking. But the art style of this game, which I DO like, isn't particularly suited to creating a waifu in the top tier of physical attractiveness. Garnet simply can't match the majority of the characters on this ranking going purely by looks. Though she at least doesn't look completely deformed in FMVs like Beatrix does.
  904. Garnet doesn't quite make top ten, but she gets this far based mainly on her personality traits. She has some cute awkwardness going for her early on due to being your standard sheltered princess. Her speech is overly formal, she's trying to fit in with some rough customers, and she behaves in some weird but really endearing ways. But at the same time she's very preceptive and capable of pulling of some slick schemes, and doesn't back down from bantering with Zidane or calling off Steiner when he gets too wild. Garnet is very direct and will tell you exactly what she's feeling at any time, and I like that in a waifu.
  906. Garnet's unwavering kindness and dedication to her friends and the people of her kingdom is so strong, that it is actually her tragic flaw. It is most tragic at the beginning, when Garnet seems to believe that she's a rather useless sheltered princess. She tends to rely quite a bit on Zidane and the others to help her stop Queen Brahne, but at the same time blames herself when things go wrong. Obviously she gains more than a little bit of confidence through traveling around the world, and uses her summoning abilities to protect her kingdom. But when she eventually fails to defeat the most powerful force in the world, she doesn't just blame herself, she goes through a complete BSOD and loses her voice.
  908. Garnet has many qualities of a tragic Shakespearean character, but unlike those stories which have downer endings, Garnet recovers. She accepts her role as ruler, gets an important haircut, and lets her direct and kind nature shine through. The ending of the game makes this clear, and is just flat-out heartwarming and cute.
  910. Garnet's easily top 10 in personality, but she just doesn't quite make it looks-wise. Maybe if FF9 got an HD remake. . . are you listening Square?
  912. 13. Lady Blackhawk / Zinda Blake (Birds of Prey)

  916. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120317085401/marvel_dc/images/2/2e/Zinda_Blake_013.png
  917. Just like with Domino, I had never heard of Lady Blackhawk before this topic. And I must now ask myself: why in the world didn't I?
  919. This chick is just fine. Like, jaw-droppingly fine. Blonde hair, blue eyes and a perfect body pretty much come standard with comic girls, but unlike Supergirl and the like, she isn't overly muscled. She mostly fights with guns (the sexiest weapon there is), but she can definitely hold her own in a fistfight. Her design is pretty much perfect - her dark blue uniform isn't TOO skintight or TOO fanservice-y, but it shows enough that you can just tell how sexy and curvy she is. And she's got a miniskirt. . . enough said.
  921. Personality-wise, Zinda is also very attractive. Thanks to time travel weirdness, she was transported to the present from the 1950s. Thus her manner of speaking comes off as reserved and formal, but her use of lots of dated phrases and words make her uniquely awkward and quite cute in that regard. Combined with her role as the pilot of the Birds of Prey, she strikes me as a really sexy airline attendant. Ya know, if they were also a legendary WWII pilot that knows gun-kata and has the appropriate microskirt. Zinda is very down-to-earth and kind, takes awkward situations in stride, and has a direct and somewhat masculine demeanor. She'll go drink beer in dicey bars, and get in bar fights (I mean, a woman as sexy as her going to a bar would probably cause a fight every time, I think she's expecting that).
  923. That leads me to her flaws. Lady Blackhawk straight up enjoys fighting, and while she's not as powerful as the top martial artists in the DC universe, she never backs down and sometimes seems to purposely put herself in situations where she'd have to fight. As awesome as going out to a bar with Zinda would be, getting into bar fights every time wouldn't be (despite the epic panty shots). And one smaller issue is that some of her dated phrases and attempts at snark that I've seen made me facepalm. I'm talking stuff like "Well, butter my butt an' call me a biscuit". No, just no : | .
  925. Lady Blackhawk is probably one of the best waifus in the entire DC universe - and the only one on this ranking who'll ask you to hold her beer while she punches some drunk guy out. All the waifus above her either have perfected all the qualities I'd want in a waifu, or I have a personal connection to them. Zinda did pretty well considering info on her was hard to find.
  927. 12. Terra Branford (Final Fantasy 6)
  928. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090905215723/finalfantasy/images/1/12/DFF_Terra_Render.png
  929. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110205011205/finalfantasy/images/4/47/Terra_alt.png
  930. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101218065930/finalfantasy/images/c/cc/Dissidia_Tina_Branford_ex.png
  931. Yep, all Dissidia images ; ).
  933. Terra's design is really distinctive - she's an exotic and somewhat mysterious character, and her clothing choices perfectly support those traits. Her warm peach-colored cape and sash combined with her eye-catching red blouse and arm guards/warmers/whatever make her stand out from basically every FF character ever. She even manages to look great regardless of her hair color. Though she is more subdued compared to other waifus. Her esper form, at least in Dissidia, is. . . kind of sexy? She's no Felicia though.
  935. The most important thing about Terra personality-wise is just how much of a determined woman she is. She had been used frequently for her power and even mind-controlled into destroying cities, and was understandably cautious in the early game. She learns to control her powers, learns to love despite being half-esper, and becomes the heart and driving force of the entire party. I can't imagine how strong and pure her heart would have to be to overcome the unemotional nature of espers, to the point where her devotion to her allies keeps her living while every other esper disappears
  937. It was children that 'taught' Terra of her capacity for love too - that's definitely a positive. Terra is such a warm and caring woman as well, who I could easily see being a top tier waifu.
  939. I'll be honest - Terra doesn't really have much in the way of flaws. However, I don't quite have an emotional connection to Terra the way I do with all the waifus yet to come. So my personal bias will come into play heavily from here on out.
  941. 11. Tear Grants (Tales of The Abyss)

  944. http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/18300000/Tear-tales-18309490-1280-720.jpg
  945. Tear's design isn't the most creative, but it just always seemed to work for her. Her modest and reserved nature is perfectly captured in her relatively conservative outfit (by JRPG standards), but shows just enough to let you always know how straight up sexy she is. Those "melons" of hers are her most obvious draw, but those red tights, her long brown hair that obscures half her face and that deep cut in her dress that occasionally shows off her curves. Her modesty about her body only makes her more attractive.
  947. Tear starts off a bit of an ice queen, but come on, Luke spends half the game being stupid enough to deserve that treatment. I'd say the patience she displays with Luke and her obligation to help him is enough to determine that she's a very motherly woman. Tear is typically quite serious and can be very blunt, but she is almost always trying to help people or comfort them, even if her words don't exactly hit the right buttons. Some of the things she says to people can sting, as Luke found out the hard way, but she's usually in the right. I'd say that witnessing Luke's resolve to change changed her as well, and started caring more about her own well-being where previously she tended to put the world on her shoulders and care for everyone else to her own detriment.
  949. As a mature and serious woman, Tear can easily empathize with anyone, even enemies, but many other emotions also come easily to her. Tear is pretty easily flustered and isn't used to handling compliments, leading to adorable blushing and the expecting cute stammering when put in awkward/funny situations. She's also easily confused by certain social hints and cues, but that's ok because her inquisitive look is incredibly cute as well <3.
  951. Tear is a grounded, direct and very attractive woman who would do well as a waifu. But at times I fear she might be a little bit of a stick in the mud, and my ideal waifu would be someone who would be willing to go out and have fun from time to time. She has every other quality want down though, and that's what puts her just outside the top 10.
  953. 10. Milla Maxwell (Tales of Xillia)
  954. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111006040604/aselia/images/d/d1/MillaMaxwellCutIn2.png
  955. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140503054815/aselia/images/0/06/Milla2art.png
  956. http://i.imgur.com/019IxMTl.png
  958. Milla may suffer from a bit due to off-model art where her waist is impossibly skinny, but she is otherwise amazing looks-wise. Her design is both distinctive and really sexy, and she even looks good in her obligatory redesign in Xillia 2. Not to mention how much I like long blonde hair. AND that green "charm point" is great, don't try to tell me otherwise. When drawn correctly, Milla can't really be beat in sexiness.
  960. Personality-wise, Milla is complicated. She hardly acts in the dignified manner that you'd expect from a physical god (well she's at least a physical god at the start). Milla does have the expected ego though, but it doesn't take all that long for her to put it aside, considering she quickly fell from physical god status to your more standard powerful fighter/magic user. The idealistic and straight-forward Jude was perfect for the task. Milla has plenty of moments of adorable awkwardness too, caused by most of her knowledge of humans coming from books. She casually brings up questionable books she's read, and gets way too excited over eating and sleeping (she didn't have to do either whilst a physical god). It's really endearing.
  962. Milla also has a determination that borders on stupidity, which I respect, but at the same time can get a bit exhausting. She definitely cares about the well-being of Jude and eventually most everyone concerning her single-mindedness, but this unwavering resolve she has causes trouble more than once. It takes her a long time for her to soften up, but when she does, it is easy to see just how selfless and warm she truly is. I'm eager to see how much better she becomes in Xillia 2.
  964. 9. Aigis (Persona 3)
  965. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120507112039/megamitensei/images/0/01/Aigis_render.png
  966. http://www.shatterheart.net/games/persona3fes/artwork/persona3-aegis-kimono.jpg
  967. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/3/33880/1883435-aigis.jpg
  969. Aigis is a character with no equal. There have been human-like robots before - some look like shapely machines (EDI) and others are identical to humans (Alpha), but Aigis is neither. She is carefully crafted to look like and identify as a person, while retaining enough robotic elements to serve her intended function as a Persona-using weapon. Aigis successfully blurs the line between human and machine. And man, is she ever freaking cute. Her pure blue eyes and smile (and most of her facial expressions) are infectious. The red bow is adorable too, and those legs. . . yeah this'll just get creepy.
  971. Aigis' development from a mostly-robotic personality to one that can be considered completely human is masterfully portrayed in Persona 3 + FES. Aigis was built with the desire to learn human behavior and emotions, but she went far beyond any sort of programming in that regard. She went through a lot of hardship, but she luckily had the rest of SEES to help her in that regard. And her "glitch" of being attracted to the protagonist? It evolves from a creepy stalker-ish connection that Aigis herself can't explain, to being a bond of love that crosses every boundary ever made. And that last Social Link scene with her. . . yeah, she knew exactly what she was doing. And you liked it.
  973. Even being a powerful maiden of destruction, Aigis is as sweet as can be. She is kind and warm to people she just met, much less her companions from Persona 3. Her interactions with her "sister" Labrys in Persona 4 Arena are absolutely heart-melting. Aigis still has an aura of naivety and a cute awkwardness that can draw in anyone. I would say Aigis was the reason I just -had- to play Persona 3 after Persona 4 Arena (yes I'm one of those guys).
  975. The only reason Aigis is ranked below 8 other waifus? I guess because going out in public would be kind of lame, considering Aigis would either have to wear a giant overcoat or just resign herself to getting looks and not being able to go on a plane? Let's just say the coming waifus are just even more amazing and leave it at that.
  977. 8. Tali'Zorah nar Rayya (Mass Effect)
  978. http://p1.pichost.me/i/15/1379380.jpg
  979. http://static.squarespace.com/static/50d0fc0ae4b0c75e54db0249/t/5119ad53e4b0d075328940fc/1360637269029/Tali.jpg
  980. http://i.imgur.com/PZCkR.png
  982. Even though Tali's got to wear a full-body suit everywhere, she's clearly got curves. And them hips are just incredible. Her design is pretty interesting too - a mix of typical spacesuit fashion and designs on the outer layer of cloth that wouldn't look out of place in Avatar (the one with the blue aliens, obviously). And her hood looks like long hair at a glance to complete her feminine appearance, despite the helmet.
  984. Personality-wise, it took exactly one video to know she was a top-10 waifu. Her feelings for Shepard weren't exactly hard to read, but as a weird alien race that could get sick and die from infection outside a suit, she was understandably hesitant. But if she made any effort to push Shepard away once her feelings were out there, it wasn't a strong one. In fact her stuttering awkwardness and overall demeanor combined with that body and accent of hers just make her ten times more desirable.
  986. Not only is Tali one of the kindest and most emphatic women out there, she has a drive and determination to get things done that only gets stronger when in a relationship with Shepard. She makes physical intimacy work through the use of different remedies - she still gets sick, but its worth it to her. Her body later adapts to such things as well. Tali gets much more confident in interacting with people and overcomes much of the fantastic racism against her race. She turns into an expert snarker as well, which is always a plus.
  988. The funniest part is when her confidence and shyness intersect, making her come off as a tsundere. But don't laugh, she has a shotgun.
  990. The only negatives with Tali should be completely obvious - she can't really go anywhere without her suit on, and having 3 fingers would take some getting used to. Purple is a pretty cool skin color though, way better than green or blue.
  992. 7. Komachi Tsugumi (Ever17)
  993. http://static.minitokyo.net/downloads/10/46/274810.jpg?114073904

  996. http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/15/154647.jpg
  998. Tsugumi looked good based just on wiki info, but I was hardly going to declare her a top 10 waifu. Then I started watching her route in the game. I can say with confidence that no character in this ranking made as big an impression on me as her.
1000. Tsugumi is a very attractive young woman - her design is rather low-key, but it works. I would even call her design a perfect reflection of her personality - the dark colors match her hair and her initially aloof demeanor, but the frilly edges of her dress and the cute bow let you know that there's a sweet feminine side of her too. And long hair is always a plus in my book. One that takes a lot of effort to bring out, but is so worth it.
1002. Tsugumi starts off as incredibly distant and cold towards everyone, yet when push comes to shove, she was quick to rush to her companions' aid (and put herself in danger in the process). She went so far as to tell Takeshi that she didn't care if she died - that really got him angry. Tsugumi tried so hard to push Takeshi away, that the normally civil Takeshi nearly decked her in the face. It's tough to put a positive spin on her early-mid game behavior, but I was far too invested in the character to stop watching. I knew she was hiding more than a few things, and sure enough, she delivered.
1004. It turns out she contracted a rare type of sci-fi virus, one that essentially made her stop aging at age 17 and basically become immortal. She's pretty much got a Wolverine healing factor - and she can infect others with the virus through exchange of blood. And on top of that, she spent 8 years as a literal prisoner in a research facility because said virus. She wasn't the only one kept there either, so she experienced first-hand what it means to "live" without really "living".
1006. Knowing all that, it's unsurprising that she wouldn't want to get close to anyone. She's been broken emotionally about as badly as anyone can be, and most likely sees herself as a bit of a monster. Yet she still continues on trying to help people while still remaining distant, and keeps a pet hamster named Chami who she accidently infected with the virus
1008. Despite Tsugumi's many, many attempts to push Takeshi away, he finally manages to open her up - and she is the sweetest girl ever on the inside. She's definitely a tsundere-type who lays down large helpings of verbal abuse, and still acts cold at times, her warmness and motherly personality can't be matched by any waifu. In her romantic interactions with Takeshi, she is snarky and a big tease, which is absolutely adorable when combined with the pure level of trust and affection she shares with him. And while I didn't see any part of "After You've Gone", she's apparently looking out for several children (Tsugumi has a soft spot for kids in general).
1010. While it is Tsugumi's story and personality that drew me in, her appearance could be better. The art style of Ever17 isn't very inspired and tends to draw faces off-model a lot and oftentimes fingers look like freaking sausages (see the 2nd pic). Tsugumi herself is a tiny bit generic, and her loose-fitting dress isn't good enough for her. I'd really love to see her in a more revealing dress : ). But what can ya do. Tsugumi's still great.
  1012. 6. Chun-Li (Street Fighter)
  1013. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0jWu3VSh1rA/UFGdGynwH1I/AAAAAAAADig/056QrHYZ1cY/s1600/chun-li-pose-coloring.jpg

  1016. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091208030519/capcomdatabase/images/2/22/SFA3ChunLi.png
1018. I'll be honest - Chun-Li is only like, my fourth favorite Street Fighter girl when it comes to personal preference. But throughout all her appearances in many, many games, I can't deny how great of a waifu she can be. While her body type has fluctuated between slim and athletic and curvy and muscular depending on the artist, she's always been incredibly attractive. Her design is iconic, and always shows off her best assets - her shapely, strong legs and her, um, melons. She always looks graceful and sexy while fighting - and her gaze can be intoxicating. And then when she wins a match - its still the best thing ever to watch such a curvy, toned woman jump up and down like a schoolgirl. Absolutely adorable. Not to mention how athletic and flexible she is. . . and that's all I'll say on that subject ; )
1020. Personality-wise, I don't think she could be much better. She's such a strong woman, and always has a cool head about her, even while fighting people like the depraved Juri (and empathizing with her to boot). Her motherly instincts are second-to-none; she even runs an orphanage as of Third Strike. You're asking for it if you mess with Chun, but you're REALLY asking for it if you threaten her kids. There's no stopping Chun when she's on a mission. To put things in perspective - the only times she's been REALLY angry in the games have been when Urien kidnapped a child from her orphanage, and when facing off against M. Bison (not really spoilers: he killed her father). And she came out successful both times.
1022. It pretty much seems like Chun can handle anything with an unmatched gracefulness, from saving the world to dealing with difficult teenagers like Yun and Yang. It's also pretty easy to see her evolve from a relatively slim, naive girl in the Alpha series and SFII, to a wise and mature woman in the later games. Experience and age has only made her better - and gave her a snarky and unexpectedly self-deprecating sense of humor too, judging from her Third Strike win quotes.
1024. As far as relationships go? I wouldn't say Chun-li isn't interested, she just hasn't had time and/or hasn't met the right people. Not surprising when you are most frequently shipped with Ryu (chaste hero), Guile (married) and Charlie (dead. . . probably). I'd say it speaks to Chun-li's maturity and self-confidence that she doesn't seem too rushed to find someone.
1026. Chun's only negative is how bad her in-game appearance in Street Fighter IV is. Those aren't sexy, muscular legs. . . those are freaking logs. Gross x_x. And that black dress of hers would look AMAZING in any game except this one; it's a real shame. Though she's not alone - SFIV's art style ruined Rose too.
1028. Chun-li is a terrific waifu, but falls just short of being one of my personal choices.
1030. 5. Midna (Zelda: Twilight Princess)

  1034. http://zelda101.yolasite.com/resources/TwilightPrincess_Large.png
1036. Midna needs no introduction, so I'll do something a little different for this writeup. Let's rewind the clock back to the prehistoric times of 2006, when I was just another awkward lonely high school kid who just got a Wii along with Twilight Princess for his birthday. Did I mention that I was also pathetic as hell back then?
1038. Anyway, Twilight Princess was my first Zelda game (discounting playing Ocarina of Time once or twice at a friend's house). I named Link after myself, and that was that. In came the master troll and snark machine Midna, who was also creepily sexualized for a naked, black-and-white imp with a head as big as the rest of her body. While I wasn't one of THOSE guys who found her attractive in that form, it didn't bother me for very long. In fact, her snaggle toothed grins and her talent with that cute hair/hand thing always amused me.
1040. Sure, Midna straight up tells you she's using you for her own purposes, but it was always clear that she cared about Link/me from the beginning. Midna may have been the Navi of the game, but I rarely found her annoying. That laugh from the Wiimote was just too adorable to annoy me, really. I was more appreciative that she was always there to help.
1042. And then suddenly, Midna had to be saved. The scenery, the music, the desperate pleading of Midna. . . it set the mood perfectly. When Zelda made her sacrifice to save Midna's life, the change was immediate. Midna went from a snarky helper in the shadows to a true companion and emotional supporter of Link. And (here comes the pathetic part) I really felt a bond between myself and Midna for a large portion of the game. She was still snarky and trollish, sure, it truly felt like she was behind me - helped on by the fact that she was calling me by name and cheered me on during the boss fights I struggled with (don't make fun of me, remember that this was my first real playthrough of a Zelda game : | ).
1044. It was almost shocking how freely Midna showed her affection for Link/me after trying to stay distant for the first section of the game - the guilt she felt about her former actions was obvious. The adorable way she leaned on Link (both figuratively and literally) was irresistible for the awkward teenage me.
1046. Then the reveal of her true form came, and you all should know how I feel about that. Her design is mysterious, exotic and completely alluring all at the same time. Redheads are always cool, and that unique hairstyle of hers is just too good. The same black and white coloring used on the rather unattractive normal Twili just makes Midna even MORE sexy when her body is pretty much perfect. Those greenish Twili designs look like tattoos, and not the horrible gaudy kind, thus they are awesome. And those eyes of hers. . . I was predictably speechless.
1048. As to why Midna isn't number 1: her guilt seems to rule her emotionally, to the point where she accepts that she and Link could never be together and permanently shuts off access to her realm. I was almost heartbroken as the hopeless teenage boy I was (not quite, I wasn't THAT pathetic). When you think about it, she never gives her own wishes much of a thought. Even from the beginning, she partnered with Link for the sake of her own people, and supported him and Zelda completely following her development. Because of that, and her role as ruler of the Twilight Realm, it feels like she is unattainable as a waifu.
1050. But Midna's amazing still, there's no arguing that.
  1052. 4. Yukiko Amagi (Persona 4)
  1053. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121012231803/megamitensei/images/3/3d/Yukiko_arcade_artwork.jpg
  1054. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/images/4/42/P4U_Yukiko_Portrait.png
  1055. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcmfj7vpCy1r5ykii.png
  1056. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2cggccaWc1qdwsn0.png
1058. Where do I even begin with this girl? There's literally nothing I dislike about her appearance or design-wise. She may not be the most curvy or busty girl in the world, but her classically attractive look, top-tier legs (tights are always a great touch) and straight up elegance easily put her near the top of the lists looks-wise. This doesn't even take into consideration her absolutely hypnotic gaze - whether it is a look of determination or her usual relaxed yet serious expression, I can't help but be drawn in. And the way she blushes. . . you just KNOW she's thinking something dirty. And she is only one of two women who make a long-sleeved sweater look amazing (the other is Rin Tohsaka). I could on for 2 more paragraphs about how attractive Yukiko is, but I'll try not to go over the char limit again.
1060. Yukiko carries herself with grace and elegance that is unmatched by any waifu I can think of - but this is very much at odds with her personality. She's actually quite silly and can be prone to misunderstand things in hilarious ways at times, leading to some moments and quotes from her that are just pure gold. But most of the time its obvious that she has only the best intentions; her desire to always be there for her friends only gets more endearing when she misreads things. She's certainly not above teasing people either. Yukiko trolls Yosuke and Kanji a lot through various means, and freaks out much of the Investigation Team by telling dramatic ghost stories.
1062. Despite the personal issues she faces in the game, Yukiko displays a strong will and a drive to better herself, and proves herself to be more than capable when push comes to shove. She even progresses from "lethal" chef to a competent one in her Social Link, something Chie or Rise would never be able to do (I'm sure those box lunches in P4A would have tasted amazing if they didn't go bad). She is a bit unsure of herself and doesn't know where the future will take her, but come on, who ISN'T unsure of themselves at that age? And as sort of referenced before, she has a hidden perverted side. And by hidden I mean she'll be all over you after 1 drink. Well, all over Yu, because he's the king.
1064. I'd say the only negatives with Yukiko have to do with her voice. She has a bit of a nasally voice, and while it doesn't have an impact most of the time, it makes her occasional laughing fits just sound awful. Really, those freaking hyena laughing fits that come out whenever she finds something really funny (which is usually something no one else finds funny) are the main thing I dislike about her. And her voice as a whole improved between Persona 4 and P4A. Her japanese voice is just amazing all around, but I can't factor that in too much since her default voice in the games is always going to be english.
1066. Really if not for that, Yukiko would be right in competition for the one true waifu spot in this ranking. It would still be wrong not to call Yukiko a terrific waifu and an awesome woman all around.
  1068. 3. Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4)
  1069. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120817154345/megamitensei/images/0/01/Naoto_Shirogane_(Persona_4_Arena,_Story_Mode_Illustration,_2).jpg
  1070. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120819003541/megamitensei/images/9/9a/Naoto_Shirogane_(Persona_4_Arena,_Story_Mode_Illustration,_3).jpg
  1071. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7077/7349665674_ef0c76593a_z.jpg
  1072. http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/oPCmsll5lPs/hqdefault.jpg
1074. I'm nearly breaking my own rule against fanservicey pics again with that last one, but it is important to show that Naoto, in fact, has a huge rack in canon.
1076. So Naoto. I believe last year I thought up my "top 8" waifus for whatever reason, and Naoto was among them (so were the 2 waifus above Naoto). I'd say the biggest thing that makes her stand out to me is that there's just no character like her. Naoto's default design is meant to be her idealized vision of a male detective, the persona of the "Detective Prince". And she looks pretty cool - though its mostly the hat, her matching hair and eyes, and androgynous appearance. She just really looks the part.
1078. Of course in reality, she's curvy and incredibly busty (and I gotta respect her for tying those melons back, that probably hurts like hell). It's almost funny how Naoto pretty much has a perfect body, yet it is a body she doesn't want, as it doesn't fit her image of a detective. But as you can see in the third image, she CAN look stunning and fit the profile of a detective. And I must add how that illustration is quite accurate in showing Naoto's curves and bust. Persona 4 itself doesn't really do her justice in that regard, aside from the hot springs cutscene from Golden.
1080. While most girls who fit the "Hollywood Nerd" stereotype are, well, stereotypical, Naoto is anything but. Her serious and analytical personality, appearance and inner resentments all stem from a somewhat-childish desire to be a hard-boiled detective, and I think that's adorable. Growing up is overrated anyway, and Naoto's mature enough either way. While I do think Naoto's methods of accomplishing her goals were a bit extreme at first, I understand why she'd feel that way. Especially since her age already had her looked down upon, and being in a small town in a country where traditional gender roles are very much still alive. And deep down, Naoto just wants to be accepted for who she is, but feels like she is unable to do so. She was a bit of a loner as a kid, and the male-dominated detective profession was basically her whole life before meeting the investigation team. Naoto was sadly never in a position to be accepted as she was, and thus the male persona was born.
1082. Naoto is definitely the most grounded and serious-minded party member, but she still has her moments of hilarity and fun, which is important. She's a great straight (wo)man in general, and the seriousness with which she approaches childish interests is really cute. Naoto's got a strong will and legitimately IS the hard-boiled detective she aimed to become, but it just doesn't extend to outright self-confidence. Naoto is very shy about showing feminine traits and about her body, though she gets better as time passes. But the final scenes of Naoto's Social Link really put a positive spin on this. She'll show off her amazing body and cute voice, but just to Yu (you). That's the kind of stuff being a waifu is all about.
1084. I have to really grasp to find a negative about Naoto, but her constantly-changing english voice actors don't always do a good job. She always sounded really awkward in battle, as her VA couldn't decide between her deeper "detective" voice and a normal feminine one. And the fact that I feel the "one true waifu" should be more overtly feminine.
1086. It's not even much of an issue, but anything is enough at this level of the ranking.
1088. 2. Hitagi Senjougahara (Monogatari series)
  1089. http://kawaii-mobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Bakemonogatari.Hitagi-Senjogahara.360x640.jpg

  1092. http://www.emptyblue.it/data/wallpaper/bakemonogatari/10_0815senjougahara_hitagi0024.jpg
1094. If I didn't stop at 4 pics for Hitagi, we'd be here all day. But yes, Hitagi falling short of the "one true waifu" has nothing to do with her - she is amazing and very much deserving. But the top waifu of this list. . . well I'll talk about that in her own writeup. I'll just say I feel awful denying Hitagi the top spot either way.
1096. To say Hitagi is attractive is an understatement. She's dead sexy, her body has a perfect combination of curves and muscle, and no character in the history of everything pulls off purple hair as well as her. Her facial expressions are awesome as well. Hitagi's normal expression is hypnotic enough, much less when she breaks out her inquisitive or troll faces. And unsurprisingly, she's a master of the Shaft head tilt. Hitagi's most recognized schoolgirl outfit is great and matches her hair and has top tier black tights, but she quite literally looks good in everything (or nothing). Her black dress is the best though, she just looks stunning in that.
1098. Personality-wise I can really only judge from Bakemonogatari, but I love her regardless. She spent several years pushing everyone away from her due to her supernatural "illness", and once cured, it became clear just how amazing Hitagi really is. She teases and trolls Araragi at every turn, starting with suggesting overtly sexual methods of repayment. Hitagi's very playful about her trolling and she's clearly doing it all in good fun, but she does get a bit extreme at times. She has some flashes of violent behavior early on, but she quickly tones that down into verbal threats. But of course, one has to wonder how serious she is when she says she'll kill Araragi if he leaves her. Not like anyone in their right mind would do so, but still. And you just have to respect a god-tier troll like Hitagi when her method of getting back at you is to whisper dirty things into your ear while sexually abusing your face. . . in the back of a car driven by her father. Still basically the best scene ever.
1100. What's strange is that despite her rough and snarky way of speaking and obviously pretty perverted thoughts, she is rather shy concerning her body, due to a horribly traumatic incident she suffered in middle school. But I mostly see this in a positive light - even though Hitagi engages in plenty of lewd and fanservicey behavior, only one person gets to be truly intimate with her. Like with Naoto, that's an ideal "waifu-y" way of thinking. . . . well she does get pretty comfortable with Hanekawa in a later season. But COME ON, is that really such a bad thing? : )
1102. Hitagi is smart, athletic, gorgeous, sexy, snarky, teasing and devoted. . . and is into manga and anime and such in a matter of fact manner. Is there anything I missed? In any other list Hitagi would easily win. . . but the final and best waifu is a woman I've been able to call my "one true waifu" for about. . . 10 years. And she's from my favorite RPG of all time too (well, Chrono Trigger is up there also).
1104. 1. Sheena Fujibayashi (Tales of Symphonia)

1111. There aren't enough pics in the world to do Sheena justice, and the choices were pretty limited to boot.
1113. When Sheena was nominated, she was a lock to win this ranking outright. She may have 7 other party members to share the spotlight with, but its straight up ridiculous how blatantly she is the best girl. It certainly helps that Tales of Symphonia was my first "real" RPG, and a lack of funds in my teen years led me to beat the game like 11 times (Sheena was Lloyd's companion in more than half of my playthroughs). My love of this game is to the point where I bought the CE of ToS Chronicles, and I didn't actually dislike ToS2. So yeah.
1115. First of all, I have a crippling weakness for ninja girls, or anything even resembling them. And Sheena is probably the sexiest ninja girl there is. Impractical clothing choices aside, Sheena's signature design shows off every single one of her assets, while not being TOO overly fanservicey. My horny teenage self enjoyed those, ahem, funbags. But I also very much appreciate her incredibly curvy body, small waist and great legs. Unlike most anime-styled waifus, she doesn't look like she's starving herself. And I really like the smaller aspects of her design - the giant pink waist ribbon, awesome fingerless gloves and traditional japanese hairstyle. At least to me, she's the ideal japanese beauty.
1117. Despite attempting to assassinate Colette in the early game, she's in contention for the most honest and idealistic character in the game, which says a lot when Lloyd and Colette are your competition. Sheena is a rather direct person who always says what's on her mind, even some things that may be harsh to hear, but undeniably need to be said. Her pure devotion to Lloyd and the other party members is equal parts adorable and awesome, and she is just plain someone you can trust with anything. No secrets, no b.s., just an earnest and sexy ninja clan successor.
1119. Growing up in a small village, Sheena has terrific waifu skills, at least judging by her cooking. But that's all she needs anyway. But despite all her accomplishments and skills, Sheena is very modest about herself. In fact, she can be really hard on herself. It's tough to have much of an ego or self-confidence when you fail to make a pact with an insane summon spirit at the age of 7, and the spirit proceeds to slaughter a quarter of your village.
1121. Though arguably, living with such guilt for so long is what made her into the grounded and nearly selfless woman she is. And only very, very rarely has she allowed such negative thoughts to affect her as she kicks butt and fires freaking Kamehamaha Blasts. She does, however, become a bit of an awkward stuttering mess when romance or love is involved. And its adorable, much less when her seldom-seen tsundere tendencies come out (well, aside from going perv revenge mode on Zelos). She isn't completely stunted in that regard though; she eventually manages to spit out her feelings for Lloyd. But being Lloyd, it takes him a while to get it.
1123. Jennifer Hale is a perfect VA for her, though she got replaced by Megan Hollingshead aka Mai Valentine in the sequel. She did alright, though I got annoyed whenever her Mai voice slipped in there. But its a wash, since Sheena's in-game model got way sexier.
1125. That's that. The One True (maybe) Undisputed Waifu is Sheena. Talk about it now.
