The Story

Alex was always the weird type of friend, always trying to ask us weird things and stuff like that, until the night of December 2nd 2024. He was quiet the whole day, it worried all of us, we tried to ask him what was wrong but all he did was shrug.

We were at lunch until we saw alex walk into the restroom with some sort of old book. “excuse me for a second. ”, i said to my friends, then i ran after alex. He was in the stall, which was locked, but then i heard something that sent a chill down my spine. “you have 1 week until your fate. ”, he wispered.

The way he said it sent chills down my spine. What will happen in one week, will it effect me because i heard it? I decided to ignore everything that happened and went to sleep. “don’t worry, alex is ok. ” i said to myself through out the night.

The next day he was walking around with a jacket, which was unusual since he never wears a jacket. And he was also wearing a glove on his left hand. “why are you wearing this stuff? ”, i asked, he gave no answer. Thats when i broke, i forcefully took off his glove and his jacket, i then stood there, shocked. Alex bursted into tears and ran out of the school.

When class started, alex walked in 10 minutes late. “why are you so late, alex? ”, said our teacher, “i had to go to the nurse. ”, alex said. I instantly knew that was a lie. I spend the whole class period starting at alex’s arm. The class period ended and we all went to our next class, alex was right next to me during this period. “what happened to your arm? Do you have a virus? ” i asked him, he started crying silently then put his head down on the desk as if he lost someone.

A few minutes before the period ended alex started groaning. “alex, are you okay? ”, i asked nervously. Then, out of nowhere he started screaming in pain and clentching his jaw, he got up and ran out of the room. When the class period ended i went to the nearest restroom to see if he was there, i then saw him crying over the sink, with blood everywhere. He looked at me dead in the eyes, like he was looking into my soul. He had blood coming from his teeth, but it wasnt his teeth. . . It was more like something from a dragon.

I decided to ignore alex for the rest of the day, i put too much pressure on him anyways. He’s probably just trying to pull a prank on someone and im just invading it. By the time i got home i was vey tired, probably because i had p. E. As last period. I plopped down in my bed and fell asleep ignoring everything that happened today.

I heard a loud knock at the front door, i never knew anyone who knew my address besides alex. I grabbed a knife from the kitchen and slowly opened up the door, my heart started racing. . . It was alex, standing out in the midnight cold. He rushed in and closed the door, he was panicking like he was chased by something. He grabbed my chest and pulled me into his arms, which was the weirdest thing he has ever done to me, “i messed up badly, please don t think im crazy. ”, he said, in panic, i nodded and let him continue. “i have a curse, i let it in, i don t know why, but i did. Now im turning into a monster, and it hurts-”, he then groaned and fell into my chest, his ears started morphing into something of a wolf. “help me. ”, he muttered.

I did something i regretted and let him stay with me for the night, as for my parents were on vacation, and i was the only child. We were both very tired so we fell asleep easily, it was actually quite comfortable. As i was waking up i noticed alex wasn t in bed, i heard him groaning in the bathroom. I rushed over to see what was happening, i saw a tail growing out of him.

The next few days were normal, well. . . Besides the fact that i have to take care of a cursed friend, not much happened elsewhere. It was saturday, the 4th day of the curse, i knew that coming monday he would be fully formed. He was exhibiting weirder and weirder behavior each coming day, i wasn’t sure if this was the curse or if he was nervous about monday. I decided to ask him, “alex, are you still going to be friends with us, or, still go to school? ”, he just stood there, “what school, i. . . Never went to any school? ”, he said in return.

I became worried, heavily worried, is the curse making him lose his memory!? I took a deep breath and thought how i could fix this. “alex, i think you need to lay down and rest. ”, i asked, “why do i need to rest if nothing is happening? ”, he said in return. Well, there goes my plan, i guess there’s no way to reverse all of this, i just got to let this happen. I sat down on my bed, watching alex slowly form into a new being. And it was like this the whole weekend.

He looked entirely different, it was monday, and all he did was lay down on the floor sleeping. I knew that all i could do is watch him change, i was trying to stop something more powerful than i would ever be. I got my stuff together and walked to school as alex stayed at my house. All i could think about was alex and how i couldn’t save him.

It was monday afternoon, i knew tomorrow he would never be the alex i had known again. I was going to last period, my grades were dropping because all i could think about was saving alex. Everyone was still worried about where alex went, but i was the only one that knew. Well, it would be better to declare him as dead than missing. I got home, seeing alex laying down on the floor sleeping. I sighed and just went to bed, not even bothering doing my homework. I fell asleep easily, even though it took a while to get comfortable.

I woke up. . . I felt sick, i didn’t see alex anywhere. I checked everywhere yet i still couldn’t find him. I decided to just ignore it, not like i could do anything about it anyways. When i got to school i went to the table that we all sat at, everyone was there, except alex. “alex is gone. ”, i said, then got up and went to the restroom. I was staring at my reflection in the mirror when i felt something tugging on my shoulder, it was alex.

What!? How did alex follow me here!? He was cuddling with me like a pet, my heart was racing. Whenever i tried to get him off he only held on harder, and i had to go to class in 13 minutes! “alex let go i have to go to class! ”, i whispered, but he just whined. I was just about to shove him off but the bell rang, he then pulled me into a stall until the halls were silent. “alex please, i’m gonna get detention! ”, i whispered again, but he did nothing.

20 minutes passed, and i was getting bored. But, out of nowhere alex pulled me out of the stall and rushed us out of the school. “alex what the fuck! ”, i said out of anger, he then growled straight in my face, i assumed was a “shut up”. I’ve never been behind the school before, it’s just a big forest. Alex shoved me against a tree, then held his claw against my mouth. I could hear someone, it was a familiar voice. It sounded like my. . . Parents!?

I was worried, what was he gonna do!? All i could do was watch, my back was still hurting from the impact. He approached closer, and closer, until he was right over me. My heart was beating faster and faster, i felt like i was going to pass out. He opened his maw, his sharp teeth glared me in the face. I gave my final breath and closed my eyes, all i could feel was my skull getting crushed from the strength of his jaw. Blood draining from my head, then. . . Snap. Alex snapped my neck in half, and started eating at my throat. I could still feel the pain even after i was dead. But i had a feeling, i didn’t know why.

Alex can be saved, Alex will be saved. . .

Alex was saved.
