  1. The recordings here are in the series of memoirs. Or more importantly, in key events and notes that show the progress of this experiment and outbreak. This world was on the brink of developing GROUNDBREAKING mutations. On the brink of X-Men level gene alterations. But they were FAR too hasty about testing and production. They didn't look for long term effects before mass producing samples.

  3. They forgot that in mutation, bad genetic mutations appear at a far greater factor than advantageous ones, with only natural selection to phase the bad ones out. With these defective mutations going unseen and most natural pressures off of human shoulders, the virus thrived quickly and passed outside of supervision. Not long after, it was a full outbreak.

  5. As the virus mutated humans, it took in host DNA and it, too, mutated. Eventually it began to twist the people it had infected, resulting in DRASTIC mental degredation, and hideous deformities. The lab grew from being made to test the first subjects abilities, to a desperate attempt to find people who were not rapidly being lost to the disease. Even after society collapsed, the scientists and their trusty machines grabbed as many survivors as they could, used their immune genes and tested them with multiple varieties of the virus to find an effective antivirus
