  1. Hi Diego,
  2.
  3. What type of role are you looking for?
  4.
  5. In my experience, educational credentials are only indispensable when you're fresh out of college and have no work experience to speak of, or when you're joining the C-Suite of a firm where senior leadership is expected to hold a degree. Relevant work experience suffices in most other situations. That said, it wouldn't hurt to complete a degree in case you ever find yourself in line to become a C-Suite executive somewhere.
  6.
  7. I have a few suggestions that could help you differentiate yourself, depending on the type of role you're looking for.
  8.
  9. 1) Pursue a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. A lot of firms are moving toward an Agile, Devops driven development lifecycle. A PMP certification will help you make that happen, and it will also open other doors that aren't necessarily Devops related.
  10.
  11. 2) Look into Devops and automation. I don't know if you've got a programming background, but learning the basics of languages like Python and PowerShell will give you a leg up on other applications who lack these skills. There are plenty of excellent online resources to help you here, a few are: linuxacademy.com, codeacademy.com, cloudacademy.com
  12.
  13. 3) Look to the cloud. Most firms have data in the cloud, or have a cloud footprint. You can focus on becoming an AWS Practitioner (which is a free entry-level certification), or get some Azure training, or both! Cloud skills are indispensable and very attractive to hiring managers.
  14.
  15. To recap, a few 'buzzwords' to look into: Devops -> Automation and programming/scripting (PowerShell and Python) -> Cloud (AWS and Azure).
  16.
  17. If you're not interested in programming, look to a PMP certification and try to focus on project management roles, or some type of infrastructure support role (like Helpdesk, etc).
  18.
  19. I don't know any recruiters in the Miami area, however, I can send a few emails to some of the recruiters I do know to see if they know anyone. I will need your resume before I can make the introductions.
  20.
  21. Finally, I am available to help or answer any questions you may have. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/
  22.
  23. Good luck, once I get your resume I can send it to a few recruiters for some opinions, but do look into some certifications to help pad your resume. They will help get you through HR screening and on your way to moving up.
  24.
  25. Best,
