  1. [23:18] Clancy Osshor says, "Oh.. hey."
  2. [23:18] Hestia Masalis says, "Hey there."
  3. [23:18] Clancy Osshor asks, "Sorry, I didn't intrude did I?"
  4. [23:18] Hestia Masalis says, "No, not at all."
  5. [23:30] The teenager was actually in the middle of a bit of work, three books upon in front of her as she looked over them, a few reagents also on the table and basic potion-craftings tools; knives, mortal and pestle, flat-bottom vials, and other such sundries. The books, should one care to look, were all regarding Alchemical topics, specifically regarding the concept of Symbolic theory -that was, ingredients for potions were representative of aspects that when combined would create the intended effect. A journal was open on the table as well, a quill that she was using to occasionally add notations resting beside it.
  6.
  7. "Given its a library in the public domain, don't worry about looking through it or anything, just don't sneak up on me, yeah? This work could be a little dangerous once I start proper experimentation." She flipped over a page, idly noting down that elemental crystals would be necessary to properly calibrate the Oil she was developing. Wouldn't be much good at conferring elemental resistance if it had nothing to connect it to the element added, after all.

  11. [23:36] The Cadet looked over, noting the different tools and the several books. Knives, vials, sundries, she had it all, it seemed. There's silence as Clancy takes it in and listens to her talk. He walks over and rests hands on the edge of the table, assuming there's some room.
  12.
  13. "Are you a part of the Faith? This doesn't seem like it is related to the stars of Leonaus," he said in a non-judgemental way.
  14. (Clancy Osshor)

  16.
  17. [23:41] Kuma took a few steps into the library and noticed there was some people already here. A happy sigh of relief escaped his lips as it seemed like he could maybe put off studying a bit to just relax. With a light wave over towards the two, he'd give a light "Afternoon." Before he pulled out a Codex Cosmos and books about magic. Curiously, he'd look over to the two every few moments as he flipped through the pages to find the areas he was looking for.
  18. (Paca Kuma)

  20.
  21. [23:42] "Not quite. Planned to become an acolyte, but things never lined up right and eventually I decided against it. Happy to use their library, however." The teen fell silent a moment, reading a few more lines and adding another notation to the journal, namely that amber would be necessary both because the crystalline nature of the ingredient would mesh well with the crystals, and also because of it symbolically representing preservation -useful with a resistance potion, which would preserve one partially from injury- and the aspect of 'slow'; the pace of sap as it moved down a tree was ponderous, and in its crystalline form of amber was completely motionless. It'd probably help increase the duration of the Oil to the length she wanted.
  22.
  23. "What I'm doing is Alchemical experimentation. Tricky to get right, disastrous if you make a particularly bad mistake, but incredibly useful if successful.
  24. (Hestia Masalis)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [23:48] "I came in here looking for an acolyte. Somewhat hoping you were one. I'm a Cadet myself so experiments and alchemy isn't my strong point, even though it plays a part in helping to train. Do you happen to be making something?" he asks.
  28.
  29. The door opens again and this time the Kuma entered. The cadet smiled. "Greetings, Paca. How're you?" he asks. Clancy doesn't yet strive to find a book himself, his attention predominately on those he's talking to, but when the room falls silent and the other two become preoccupied, he takes a glance at the small library. Eyes searching for a book on the more religious side of things.
  30. (Clancy Osshor)
  31. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  32.
  33. [23:51] "Oh I'm good hehe. Got to put some work in on studying." He'd say as he held up the books he was looking at. One was the standard Codex Cosmos that everyone knew and love, the other was a blank book without much discerning characteristics over it. If anyone was close enough, they might have seen on the cover it said just "Magic".
  34.
  35. With a cheerful smile, he'd think over a little. "Sorry, didn't see an Acolyte as I made my way in. But I did see Rector Aziz around town." With that said, he turned a little to inspect the alchemy tools that Hestia seemed to have, before returning to his books. The pages of his books wouldn't turn though, the curiosity of the boy taking over him as he eavesdropped a bit more.
  36. (Paca Kuma)

  38.
  39. [23:58] "Sorry to disappoint then. As for whether I'm making something...well, yes and no. I'm not brewing specifically, but I am trying to workshop a recipe for a new potion. Its in the early stages at the moment; I think I've found a few ingredients, but nothing is quite certain this early in the process." Well, she thought it was likely that the ingredients she figured now were more likely than not to be the case, but there was always a chance that something would be more effective, or mesh better with other ingredients to harmonise the potion.
  40.
  41. "From what I've heard around town, Rector Aziz is one best avoided for important matters. Just rumours though, so can't be certain." She read a few more pages, tossing up between whether one ingredient would be more useful or another. Roperoot had potential, perhaps. She flicked through the text to try and find its theorised symbolic properties to confirm whether ornot it was a good idea.

  44.
  45. [00:11] The cadet nodded to each of them as they gave their own recommendations. By now, his hand was pulled from the table and rest at his sides. He apparently hadn't managed to find a book relevant.
  46.
  47. "Yeah, it's not wise to believe every rumour you hear, but it's good to know. I was looking for them to find more about the Faith actually," he admits, looking between the two, Hestia and Paca. He continues talking.
  48.
  49. "I'll go see Al-Aziz anyway, perhaps he can help me. Good luck with your potion and you with your magic studying, Paca. If either of you need help, remember there's people around," he tells them, before going to smile a little wider.
  50.
  51. "So long," the cadet moved to leave, after anything else the two had to say of course.
  52. (Clancy Osshor)
  53. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54.
  55. [00:13] Looked up from his books as Hestia mentioned she was developing a new potion. The boy new next to nothing about how alchemy worked, so he felt like he couldn't pass up this opportunity to see first hand how one came up with the crazy stuff they could make.
  56.
  57. A small chuckle soon escaped his lips as he heard Hestia's words on the rector. The boy had also heard the rumours and found quite a bit of joy with catching up with the latest gossip. But it was the first time he'd seen just how much of an effect they had.
  58.
  59. Turning towards Clancy, he awaited to see if he had any response on the matter. Giving a continuous wave, he'd give a small farewell towards Clancy. "Yeah, Rector Aziz seems like an alright man to me. But I haven't really interacted with him much. Good luck Clancy."
  60.
  61. Once Clancy had left, the boy would stop his waving and turn towards Hestia. "So what is this potion you're trying to make supposed to do?"
  62. (Paca Kuma)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [00:22] Hestia nodded absentmindedly to Clancy. "Thank you.", she said, before returning to her study for a moment. Rope Root symbolised binding, so that'd work. She noted it down, before glancing up at Paca. "The potion? Well, you know how there are runes that can confer offense and defence enhancements on weapons? I'm trying to recreate the latter effect for clothes. Potions are more temporary than runes, but making a new potion is a little easier to my knowledge, and whilst I'm equally skilled with runework, I prefer alchemy."
  66.
  67. Looking at the recipe so far -Elemental Crystal, Amber, Roperoot- she frowned, wondering if there was something else she could add to strengthen the enchantment. Given that in this context the elemental crystal was only being used to represent the element the Oil would grant resistance to, it probably wouldn't have too negative effect on the other ingredients. The Rope Root could create something of a feedback loop with the Amber however, considering they shared the same aspect. Strangely enough, it could clash sometimes. She'd need to test it.

  71. [00:24] * You have been awarded 4 Roleplay Points! *
  72. [00:28] Kuma nodded his head as he shot out a thumbs up over towards Hestia. "Woah!" He'd exclaim, a bit too loud that you'd want in a library. "That sounds cool hehe." The look on the boys face would be full of excitement, it seemed like every bit of him that wanted to study had long since calmed down or gave up. Instead he'd be focused on the Alchemy that the girl was on about.
  73.
  74. "You know, I tried to do the same a while ago hehe." Kuma's posture would relax as he began to reminisce of the days years ago when he was just learning about the world of magic. "Wanted to be a battle support mage, so was thinking maybe I could use crafter runes or something to make temporary effects similar to what is needed when you focus a lot for permanent upgrades on clothes. Kind of like weaker versions that doesn't need as much concentration, to give friends an edge in battles. Kind of gave up on it though hehe, decided to just aim for Holy magic."
  75. (Paca Kuma)
  76. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  77.
  78. [00:34] "Sounds similar, though not the same. This brew would be applied to an article of clothing and last for at least a year. I'm aiming for somewhere between three and five of them, actually, though I'm not sure where it'll land. Reagents react oddly to each other at times, so the result could be not entirely what I'm aiming for." She idly noted an 'x2' next to the amber, figuring that might eliminate the conflict with the Rope Root if one ingredient actively overpowered it, then added another to the elemental crystal. It was logical that the crystal should be more than one in order to maximise resistance without destabilising the recipe.
  79.
  80. She'd need to test it later, after a bit more research to make certain it would work, but she could do that later. The young Alchemist had spent a few hours at this now, so she felt she could call it a day. She closed the journal after noting the pages in the books she'd used, and began to clean up her workspace. She'd not ended up beginning the active brewing, but making the recipe was a big step, and one of three she saw. The second was testing the brew prototype and revising it where necessary. The third was finalising the potion and brewing it successfully three times, the point where it could be considered functional.
  81.
  82. "Anyways, I'd best be on my way. You have a good day, Mr Kuma." With those words, she put the journal into a satchel, made sure she'd gotten everything -she had- and departed for the day.
