  1. Good. Before we start:
  2. The Interview will happens in two parts;
  3. The first part will be simple questions about your thoughts and opinions on various aspect of moderation, and similar.
  4. The second part will be 7 scenarios, in which you'll have to answer as you think you should, and you will be allowed to ask what would the concerned says back, etc etc.
  5. Anything to say, out of the records, before we start?
  6. Roboslav - Today at 00:04
  7. Nyet, I am ready
  8. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:05
  9. In that case, let us begin.
  10. Q.1 - What is, for you, the requirements and motivations needed for a moderator on any time of server or game?
  11. Roboslav - Today at 00:07
  12. Flexibility, being impartial, knowing the rules of the game, and charm
  13. And for motivation
  14. Making the game better for everyone playing it
  15. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:07
  16. Moving on.
  17. Q.2 - What is, for you, the job of a Moderator on a Roleplay server?
  18. Roboslav - Today at 00:08
  19. To assist players in issues that they may have, and to enforce the rules to the best of your abilities, and when it is needed to hand the issue off to an Admin if the issue is large enough
  20. But most importantly, keep the game from being total pizdec for everyone
  21. In the context of bad players
  22. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:10
  23. Moving on.
  24. Q.3 What would for you, in short, be the recommended course of action in general for a player causing minor trouble (Aka minor rules breaking and such, and not outright grief and similar) ?
  25. Roboslav - Today at 00:12
  26. At the low end, a warning
  27. And attempt to correct the action with them by explaining the rules
  28. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:12
  29. Alright. Onto the scenarios now.
  30. S.1. - During the normal part of a round, the arrival computer announce that "Michael Schumacher, Pilot, has arrived on station."
  31. (You may answer)
  32. Roboslav - Today at 00:15
  33. Sorry, I was just researching the name, I'm not versed well in popular culture
  34. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:15
  35. Hm, I see Michael Schumacher is not up to date anymore; I ran into the same issue with your fellow trial moderator.
  36. Roboslav - Today at 00:16
  37. Well I know you're supposed to have original species appropriate names and to not have gimmick characters.
  38. I would watch the player who had just joined to see how they act, and what they do in game
  39. But again, I may have to ask him to change his name, due to the popularity of the F1-driver of the same name
  40. If he agrees, I will allow a respawn, and he can come back with a more acceptable name
  41. And if he refuses, he will get a warning, and be asked again to change his name
  42. If he tells me to idi nahui he may be ejected from the game(edited)
  43. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:19
  44. Moving on.
  45. S.2 - During a round, you notice the logs reporting two people firing at each other with MK-30, with no prior targetting or aiming. The two shooters are a Janitor and an Engineer. The Janitor is a traitor, however, the engineer is not. After a while, none of the two seems to be downing each other, and the gunfight doesn't seems to be coming to an end.
  46. (You may go)(edited)
  47. Roboslav - Today at 00:26
  48. In my head I would wonder how the hecc did the engineer get a gun? if I am already in game I do not have prior context aside from knowing that the janitor is the traitor
  49. IT would be in bad taste to stop the fight midway, but unfortunately that may be the case
  50. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:26
  51. In this situation, you do not have the context that goes with it.
  52. And, at this point, its less of an active firefight and more of a "shooting in general directions"
  53. Roboslav - Today at 00:27
  54. There should be no reason for the engineer to have a gun in the first place, unless they have disarmed the traitor
  55. The best course of action in my mind, is to wait and see how this turns out, and ask both sides their part of the story to discern what in the blyat happened to cause this situation
  56. the engineer would say something on the lines that the traitor shot first, to cover his own arse, but that would not explain the gun in his possession
  57. I would check the traitors objectives to see if the death of the engineer was one of his targets , then ask, "Why did you have to do it so high profile?"(edited)
  58. Again, I do not know context, all I know at the time is that they started firing at each other in a high profile situation, and essentially sucking at it.
  59. But seriously the only way for the engineer to get a mk-30 is to get if from exploration, or to get one from science.
  60. Or to take it from the traitor.
  61. Again, no context, so I would give them both a warning at that moment.
  62. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:34
  63. If you were to ask them about their side of the story, this is what both would say:
  64. The Janitor would claim that he was attempting to broke into the bridge via maintenance, but got interrupted by the Engineer that pulled out a weapon and shot first, ensued a firefight.
  65. The engineer would claim that they were heading back to Engineering after wiring the solar on Command's level, and found the MK-30 laying on their paths.
  66. Roboslav - Today at 00:38
  67. That would be extremely unlikely that the engineer would find a weapon just lying on the ground and that he just happened to pick it up.
  68. So that, in most cases would be a blatant lie to me.
  69. There is only one entrance to the bridge through maintenance.(edited)
  70. Therefore the engineer had to go WAY out of his way to look for the traitor.
  71. Its almost like he knew he was there.
  72. I would ask how the engineer knew that the traitor was there, and why he would take the MOST out of the way approach to get to engineering?
  73. To the only entrance to the bridge through maint.
  74. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:42
  75. He again, pushes his claim that he was setting up the solars, adding this time he "heard noises"
  76. Roboslav - Today at 00:42
  77. If the solars are already set up, then that would be a bullshit claim.(edited)
  78. I would ask the traitor again what he saw.
  79. since it would seem that the engineer at this point was looking for the traitor, with a gun that he shouldn't have.
  80. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:43
  81. Traitor said that the Engineer came by the airlocks on the left, and not those from the north.
  82. Roboslav - Today at 00:44
  83. Relative left or ic left?
  84. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:44
  85. relative left
  86. Roboslav - Today at 00:45
  87. So that would mean that the engineer was infact telling the truth that he heard the noises, and went to investigate
  88. while he was setting up solars
  89. However
  90. IT does not excuse that he would have a firearm on him, and didn't take it to security before hand
  91. The engineer should have done a host of things different with that encounter.
  92. Like report to security that there is someone breaking into the bridge
  93. Or turning in his gun to security when he 'aquired' it
  94. This all points to powergaming
  95. On the engineers side
  96. He picked up a gun knowing that he was going to find something at some time.
  97. He had no intention to properly roleplay it out, because his goal was to kill the traitor before he had the chance to do anything
  98. So at that point
  99. I would give a warning to the engineer, and explain to him that powergaming is not allowed while putting his actions in context.
  100. If the engineer fails to properly explain himself, it remains as such
  101. If the engineer is rude, or purposefully abrasive, I would raise it up to an admin after adding to his notes
  102. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:52
  103. Alright. Moving on.
  104. S.3 - You decide to not play a round and ghost before round start, and the vote conclude to an antagonist gamemode voted by the players, and that is not secret. As the round start, you notice the Captain grabbing his special ancient gun, grabbing his spare ID and headsets, and putting his armor set in his bag before anyone else has finished putting their IDs in their PDAs.
  105. Roboslav - Today at 00:56
  106. First
  107. I'd be so fucking impressed that he managed that kind of speed.
  108. Second, if he's not the traitor
  109. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:57
  110. He is not.
  111. Roboslav - Today at 00:58
  112. That would already be blatant powergaming (At ludicrous speeds)
  113. I would ping him, and tell him the situation, and explain to him why he cannot be doing that
  114. At worst he would get a warning if he complies
  115. If he doesn't, he gets a note, and if he is rude and disrespectful, he may be ejected from the game and job-banned.
  116. Pyrociraptor - Today at 00:59
  117. Alright. Moving on.
  118. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:01
  119. S.4 - During a normal round, a random admin is traitor. After a while, you notice that they are giving themselves advantages by spawning various things, rejuvenating themselves, and seems to be outright killing people with minimal, if not no interactions at all. They do not say anything in msay, and you two are the only connected staff-members on server at the time.
  120. Roboslav - Today at 01:02
  121. I would contact the admin, and ask him to stop, and despawn any 'adminbussed' items that he has spawned
  122. If he continues to be non-responsive, I would go out of game and ping another admin, or possible the head admin
  123. The scenario would be explained, there was no event, and the urod is just being an unfair cunt
  124. The likely scenario is that the admin in question would be temporarily stripped of his admin privileges and questioned as soon as it can be done.
  125. That is blatant abuse of their powers, so that should never be allowed on the server
  126. Unless the round dictates the need
  127. such as meme rounds, or adminbus
  128. that is my stand there
  129. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:05
  130. Alright. Moving on.
  131. S.5 - Ghosting during a round, you notice that a bald assistant has arrived on station, and are pulling a welder fuel tank, while holding a welder in their hands. They seems to be following random players around, before said players can manage to outrun the assistant;
  132. Roboslav - Today at 01:08
  133. That would be griefing, and greytiding, if nobody is hurt and nothing is done to hurt anyone, a warning
  134. If he continues, a note, plus ban
  135. And then a pass of to an admin to see if we can possibly give him a perma ban
  136. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:08
  137. Alright. Moving on.
  138. S.6 - As you are admin-PMing a player due to some possible rule-breaking and asking for context, they threaten you by saying that they're best friends with the head admins and that you'll be in trouble for banning them. Luck of the universe, all of the head admins are currently on holiday, sick leaves or similar, and other admins are also not available for a while.
  139. Roboslav - Today at 01:12
  140. As Robotic Slavinator would put it(edited)
  141. "Idi nahui you rule breaking urod"
  142. I do not care if they are your friend or not
  143. They break the rules, they get the same action as every other player on the server.
  144. If it is found that the urod has broken the rules, depending on the rule broken, they get the proper action applied
  145. For the small stuff, warnings, and notes
  146. for big things, note and ban.
  147. When the Admins come back, I will explain the situation with a report(edited)
  148. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:15
  149. Alright. Moving on.
  150. S.7 - During a quiet round of extended, and as the engine fails due to a lack of Engineers, you notice a M.D. breaking into engineering and setting up the engine, with no indication whatsoever of the required skills on records.
  151. Roboslav - Today at 01:17
  152. Well considering that the medic has nothing indicating his experience, all he would get is a warning(edited)
  153. Don't get me wrong, that is powergaming and it should be punished, but if it is only one to four players, and the MD roleplays it correctly, I would be inclined to leave it as is, with only a warning
  154. They did keep the station running, and the station remains useable
  155. I would explain that (if I was able to play) it would have been a good idea to send a fax to CC to send in an engineer or borg to set up some kind of power
  156. I would be rather lenient with it in that situation, if it were dead hour
  157. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:21
  158. Alright.
  159. That concludes it.
  160. Anything to say for the records?
  161. Roboslav - Today at 01:22
  162. Cheeki Breeki I v Damke
  163. Pyrociraptor - Today at 01:23
  164. Due to the nature of the interview, and myself being a good EU citizen, do you consent to having this interview posted onto your Moderator Application app on forum?
  165. Roboslav - Today at 01:23
  166. Sure why not
