- Turn OFF any ad-block software as it may prevent you from seeing important images that you need for your transaction!
- Using a VPN or Proxy while making your transaction may cause it to hang or fail upon submission.. turn them off first!

- 01. PayPal
- - Using PayPal directly is simply NOT possible and not a choice made by GimmePeers, so please don't ask if you can be the exception as it isn't an option we can make possible
- - PayPal offers Debit PayPal Cards that can be used with our credit card system and your existing PayPal account
- - Direct payments may be available on very rare occasions and will be clearly marked and announced as such, so again, please don't ask for exceptions as they are not possible
- 02. Bitcoin is not supported (see below for details)
- 03. We suggest using Firefox when making a transaction
- - Java must be enabled
- - You must allow images for Gimmepeers (and turn off) any ad-block software
- - You can not copy/paste to form fields without error and an (invalid argument) could occur
- - You can not use auto-fill to complete the transaction form and the same thing as pasting your entries

- 04. All transactions are processed securely and discretely

- What do I need to do after renewing?
- Nothing. The system will credit your account automatically.
- When will my account be updated after renewal?
- Instant payment renewal - Your transaction is instantly completed and you should receive your status update within 1 hour of processing.
- - extreme cases could take up to an hour, but very rare.
- Transfers and eChecks (PayPal only) - It can take as many as 15 days for the transaction to clear and to update our records.
- I have renewed and my account was not updated, what do I do?

- GimmePeers is a membership site and does not rely on voluntary donations to keep servicing our community!
- What does this mean?
- This means that you must keep membership time on your account or you will loose most site services until renewed
- - After ( 6 ) months of non-membership your account may be disabled
- - After ( 1 ) year of non-membership your account may be purged/deleted
- - Our email service will send a membership reminder to your registered email on the following 3 occasions:
- * 7 days before membership expiration * Upon membership expiration * 14 days after membership expiration
- If my account was disable can it be enabled again?
- - Maybe! If you can contact us, then theoretically it could be possible

- User information - Top
- What is my profile page and where can I find it?
- If you click on your name anywhere onsite or Right Here, you will find your user details or what is commonly referred to as your public profile. This profile will show you a lot of useful information about your account, including your registered email, your sponsored accounts, your current upload/download speeds, forum posts and comments, ratio etc.
- You can also change many settings for your account by configuring your profile settings which is also located up in the left corner beside or name or by clicking Right Here. This will allow you to change your email, password, default browse categories, view porn or the top 20 etc.
- NOTE: Not everyone can see all your information. If you want to know what someone else can see and what they can not, simply click on someone else's name.
- What are the different site/ueser classes?
- GimmePeers makes great effort in providing your community with the best in equality whenever possible
- User Classes:
- Tier 1 - 98% of all GP users will belong to this class regardless of membership
- Tier 2 - This class is reserved for future site development. (it will carry all the same site privileges, but include extra external services)
- Top Tier - This class is reserved for GP ex-staff and family etc..
- Staff Classes:
- Design Team - This class contains our gfx peeps. They do custom avatars etc. If interested, please contact our help desk
- Uploader - These guys spend a good deal of time, effort and money to bring you what you need
- Super Uploader - These guys spend an insane deal of time, effort and money to bring you what you need
- Mod and Sen Mod - They keep our members happy with general support and by keeping the place cleaned up for your enjoyment
- - Promotions to this class are only done by upper management. If you ask for this class, you will be automatically disqualified
- Admin and Sen Admin - These guys have done it all and been doing it for years. They can help you with almost every problem
- - Specialize in account and site support
- Can I have two accounts?
- You can have as many accounts as you can properly invite and maintain
- - Each account will need to maintain its own separate membership
- - Accounts on the same network may need assistance in being created. Please contact our help desk if needed
- Can you delete my account?
- Sorry, we will not manually delete your account
- - If you no longer want your account, simply do not renew or log in and your account will be purged at the proper time
- Can you rename my account?
- If you have a good reason for needing it changed, we will be more than happy to help you
- How do I add an avatar to my profile?
- First, find an image that you like and is within the GP avatar rules then find a place to host the image
- - We recommend using imgur.com to host your image NOTPhotobucket or Imageshack as both are highly unreliable and will break your image
- - You shouldn't just hotlink your image to any old website as a direct links could prove very problematic
- Copy the link you were given by your hosting site to the avatar field in your profile settings
- - If you need hosting for your image, send us the image link and your request to our help desk and we'll be glad to host it for you and even put it on your profile!
- I've lost my user name or password! Can you send it to me?
- You should first try using the recovery options on the login page - You may also contact our help desk for password help

- - For account security, all offline help will require you to answer a few question to verify ownership
- - Upon account verification we will be more than happy to help you reset your account and get you back to your community
- Help! I cannot login!? (a.k.a. Login of Death)
- This problem can occur with MSIE
- - Close all IE windows and open the Internet Options from the system control panel. Click the 'delete cookies' button.
- You should now have no problems logging in. If you do see our IRC help channel (coming soon)
- I did not receive a confirmation eMail!
- The e-mail server probably considered the confirmation email as junk mail or spam.
- - Check your Junk mail and Spam folders
- - Try using a different eMail service. we recommend using gmail
- Temp eMail services are not allowed to be registered with your account
- - Your registered email is extremely important to the life of your account and is the only thing that will save it, so be sure it is always valid and accessible
- Why is my IP and eMail on my details page?
- Only you can view your IP address and email
- Why is Open Port showing "No" or "Waiting"
- If 'waiting' this simply means you don't have any torrents running. If your torrents aren't starting, then you're probably using a bad or UNsupported client. Please check this thread for Support Clients
- If 'no' the tracker has determined that you are firewalled or have not opened a port on your router to accept incoming connections.
- This means that other peers in the swarm will be unable to connect to you, only you to them. Even worse, if two peers are both in this state they will not be able to connect at all. This has obviously a detrimental effect on your overall speed as there are fewer peers you can connect to.
- The way to solve this problem involves opening the ports used for incoming connections (the same port or port range you defined in your client) in your Firewall, Modem, and/or Router, or configuring your NAT server to use a basic form of NAT for that range instead of NAPT to allow the incoming requests.
- The recommended port range is 49152 and 65535
- This range is reserved for private use unlike most other port numbers which can be seen HERE. You should choose a single port from this range or just a small 10 port range for example and not the entire range. Most clients only need 1 port and you'll have an easier setup.

- Stats - Top
- May I use any bittorrent client?
- Sure, you can use whatever client you wish that the tracker accepts. We do have a ban list though and can be seen by CLICKING HERE.
- How does NAT/ICS change the picture?
- This is a very particular case in that all computers in the LAN will appear to the outside world as having the same IP. We must distinguish between two cases:
- 1. You are the single GimmePeers users in the LAN
- You should use the same GimmePeers account in all the computers.
- Note also that in the ICS case it is preferable to run the BT client on the ICS gateway. Clients running on the other computers will be unconnectable (their ports will be listed as "---", as explained elsewhere in the FAQ) unless you specify the appropriate services in your ICS configuration (a good explanation of how to do this for Windows XP can be found here). In the NAT case you should configure different ranges for clients on different computers and create appropriate NAT rules in the router. (Details vary widely from router to router and are outside the scope of this FAQ. Check your router documentation and/or support forum.)
- 2. There are multiple GimmePeers users in the LAN
- At present there is no way of making this setup always work properly with GimmePeers. Each torrent will be associated with the user who last accessed the site from within the LAN before the torrent was started. Unless there is cooperation between the users mixing of statistics is possible.(User A accesses the site, downloads a .torrent file, but does not start the torrent immediately. Meanwhile, user B accesses the site. User A then starts the torrent. The torrent will count towards user B's statistics, not user A's.)
- It is your LAN, the responsibility is yours. Do not ask us to ban other users with the same IP, we will not do that. (Why should we ban him instead of you?)
- Best practices
- • If a torrent you are currently leeching/seeding is not listed on your profile, just wait or force a manual update.
- • Make sure you exit your client properly, so that the tracker receives "event=completed".
- • If the tracker is down, do not stop seeding. As long as the tracker is back up before you exit the client the stats should update properly.
- Most common reason for stats not updating/ approved and banned clients.
- * The server is overloaded and unresponsive. Just try to keep the session open until the server responds again. (Flooding the server with consecutive manual updates is not recommended and will not help.)
- * You are using a faulty client or one that is not approved. If you want to use an experimental or CVS version you do it at your ownrisk.
- * You are closing your client or pc prior to the update to the tracker, remember your client only reports the upload stats to the site every 40 mins and should you close your client prior to that, then all the date transferred since the last successful update will not be credited to your overall stats.
- Why is a torrent I'm leeching/seeding listed several times in my profile?
- If for some reason (e.g. pc crash, or frozen client) your client exits improperly and you restart it, it will have a new peer_id, so it will show as a new torrent.
- The old one will never receive a "event=completed" or "event=stopped" and will be listed until some tracker timeout. Just ignore it, it will eventually go away.
- You can try to 'flush" the torrent from your stats, by clicking on 'flush torrents' found in your details page [see stats section].
- I've finished or cancelled a torrent. Why is it still listed in my profile?
- Some clients do not report properly to the tracker when canceling or finishing a torrent. In that case the tracker will keep waiting for some message - and thus listing the torrent as seeding or leeching - until some timeout occurs.
- Just ignore it, it will eventually go away.
- Why do I sometimes see torrents I'm not leeching in my profile!?
- When a torrent is first started, the tracker uses the IP to identify the user. Therefore the torrent will become associated with the user who last accessed the site from that IP. If you share your IP in some way (you are behind NAT/ICS, or using a proxy), and some of the people you share it with are also users, you may occasionally see their torrents listed in your profile. (If they start a torrent session from that IP and you were the last one to visit the site the torrent will be associated with you). Note that now torrents listed in your profile will always count towards your total stats.
- To make sure your torrents show up in your profile you should visit the site immediately before starting a session.
- Requests - Top
- Does GimmePeers have a Request section?
- Yes
- Can I place a request in the GimmePeers Forums?
- If you are a VIP, you would make your request in the special forum only visible to VIP members.
- Be sure to read the rules on posting VIP request prior to placing request.
- Request from non-VIP members is not permitted anywhere other than in your profile and carries a 3 day warning for doing so.
- If I am not a VIP is there another way to make my desires known?
- Create a list of what you are looking for, and place it in the public section of your member profile.
- This way, everyone that looks at your profile page can see what you are looking for.
- Invites - Top
- Can I get a GimmePeers Invite?
- Sure, invites come with every membership renewal
- You can also find invite-only packages on the renewal page
- Earn free membership time while building your community
- Total invites an account can store at any one time is five (5) max
- Why can't I connect? Is the site blocking me? - Top
- Maybe my address is blacklisted?
- The site blocks addresses listed in the (former) PeerGaurdian Database, as well as addresses of banned users. This works at Apache/PHP level, it's just a script that blocks logins from those addresses. It should not stop you from reaching the site. In particular it does not block lower level protocols, you should be able to ping/traceroute the server even if your address is blacklisted. If you cannot then the reason for the problem lies elsewhere.
- If somehow your address is indeed blocked in the PG database do not contact us about it, it is not our policy to open ad hoc exceptions. You should clear your IP with the database maintainers instead.
- Your ISP blocks the site's address
- (In first place, it's unlikely your ISP is doing so. DNS name resolution and/or network problems are the usual culprits.) There's nothing we can do. You should contact your ISP (or get a new one). Note that you can still visit the site via a proxy, follow the instructions in the relevant section. In this case it doesn't matter if the proxy is anonymous or not, or which port it listens to.
- Notice that you will always be listed as an "unconnectable" client because the tracker will be unable to check that you're capable of accepting incoming connections.
- What if I can't find the answer to my problem here? - Top
- Ask your question in the forums
- Post in the Forums, by all means. You'll find they are usually a friendly and helpful place, provided you follow a few basic guidelines:
- • Make sure your problem is not really in this FAQ. There's no point in posting just to be sent back here.
- • Before posting read the sticky topics (the ones at the top). Many times new information that still hasn't been incorporated in the FAQ can be found there.
- • Help us in helping you. Do not just say "it doesn't work!". Provide details so that we don't have to guess or waste time asking. What client do you use? What's your OS? What's your network setup? What's the exact error message you get, if any? What are the torrents you are having problems with? The more you tell the easiest it will be for us, and the more probable your post will get a reply.
- • Use a clear thread title. Non-descriptive thread titles like "Question" or "Problems" are not very useful at grabbing the attention of those that can help you.
- • And needless to say: Be polite. Demanding help rarely works, asking for it usually does the trick.
