  1. On March 22, Wallows dropped their first album “Nothing Happens.”
  2. The California, alt-indie band released an 11 track album after their popular EP “Spring.”
  3. Right off their development was evident. The album opened up with its first track titled, “Only Friend.”
  4. The song starts off with a guitar riff that instantly draws the listener in. The track is very guitar heavy and captures the “lonely” feel very well.
  5. The song has a similar but different feel from their past music, setting up how the listener can expect how the whole album will be.
  6. “Treacherous Doctor” is the high energy track that follows. The song focuses on the pains of growing up which is evident in the chaotic keyboard at the end.
  7. The next three songs that follow are “Sidelines,” “Are You Bored Yet? (Feat. Clairo)” and “Scrawny.” All three of these songs were released as singles before the album’s release. Each song completely different from each other production wise but very similar message wise.
  8. “Ice cold pool” is an interesting track. Many longtime fans can recognize a piece of one of their early singles “Underneath the Streetlights in the Winter Outside Your House” featured in it. A homage to their past music.
  9. The next three tracks that follow all have an underlying meaning about love hidden by their catchy or slow tunes.
  10. The album ends with a slow song titled “Do Not Wait.” The song —like the others— focuses on growing up and the changes that come with it.
  11. What makes this song so unique is that it features Dylan Minnette speaking towards the end. He says lines about his personal life, for example, “your parents will eventually separate.”
  12. A slower version of the riff that started the album ends the song connecting the album from start to finish giving it the “it all came full circle” storybook ending.
  13. If coming-of-age was a music genre, this album would fall perfectly in it. It tackled things like growing up and love witch catchy lyrics and sound.
  14. The production of the album was unbelievable as well. Each song flowed well and they all seemed as if it were connected to the other. It’s impressive because each song was its own.
  15. The whole album wasn’t just high energy songs or depressing ones either, it was a good variation of both. Anyone can find enjoyable depending on what they prefer.
  16. Stream “Nothing Happens” by Wallows on streaming services such as Apple Music or Spotify.
