- Late one night in autumn dark
- The Rook flew near and low again.
- Despair and sorrow deep, profound
- again 'mong Glitchen taken reign.
- Hours came and went anew
- but then a memory arose:
- A woman wise with years and life
- had said to me "let us suppose"
- - That it is true what have been said:
- - Tomorrow truly never comes!
- - This may sound gloom and sad indeed
- and some may well to this succumb"
- "But don't forget", she said to me
- - Tomorrow mayn't at all be due,
- - But as the sun goes down and up:
- - You know today begins anew.
