  1. I know everyone's jumping on the Tony's idea bandwagon, and it's pretty much been said that this is what we're going with so shush up, but I for one am completely confused by it. I am completely confused on what problem we're even trying to address here, other than a spreadsheet issue which, as some have pointed out, wouldn't be an issue if we still had a separate MC. Recreating the MC position is still a viable option to fix this 'problem'.

  3. : What I see is a productive program being forced to change because of an unsuccessful restructuring of the department. Now that you have the master roster back, do you really need a 2APDir? The department worked fine without one for like 10 years, and the only argument for increasing the PDept Admin to include a 2APDir was that the new member process was more cumbersome because of a lack of a master roster. No one would blame you or hold it against you for going back to a working model because the new one isn't working well. This is really looking like change for the sake of change, which isn't good.

  5. : If you change the Mentors Program to Tony's suggestion, I still highly encourage you to look at restructuring the department back to what worked for so many years. As Andy pointed out, having a separate MC is still a good idea, and now that we have a master roster again (with AWOL status!), the argument for the 2APDir position is moot.

  10. You can say that the department worked for years, but I can assure you that in the two terms that I have been involved with the PDept that it has not been completely affective, last term the MC, (who is now the APDir (int) and is still the MC, and it was far from affective.
  11.
  12. So "bringing back a system that has worked for 10 yrs" is not an option, as it wasn't working when the MC role was still there.
  13.
  14. What the PDept has done by having a minor restructure, and it is minor because if you care to read the MOTD you will see exactly what the APDir (Int) does in their role, it is update profiles, which quite often I do as well as the APDir (Ext) and run the Mentors program whilst filling in for me when I am LOA, which has been rare this term and when it has the APDir (Ext) has dealt with the applications we receive.
  15.
  16. So I can assure you that the PDept does not need a restructure from the very successful team we have in place at the moment.
  17.
  18. With a lack of DHs, Mentors and crew in general it is getting to the point that it is actually hard to place a member at times, never mind find a ship that has space and a Mentor.
  19.
  20. Tony's idea is valid as it means we will not have to worry about accommodating both a DH and Mentor on a ship.
  21.
  22. additionally, you are saying that the 2APDir position is moot, yet you are suggesting that we bring back an MC, again I suggest you read the MOTD and see exactly how we as a department divide our roles between us.
  23.
  24. Hells :)
