Ahh. The Netherlands. Such a sweet country. The tulips, windmills, clogs... And also a furry fandom that has alot of issues...
Hello everyone. My name is Rayzar, and today we are going to talk about the dutch side of the furry fandom, and my experience with it.

As you might know, I am from the Netherlands. Which means that I speak the language, Dutch. (Hence the title of the video)
About 6 years ago, I have joined the furry fandom. Me being a thirteen year old, who was very open and annoying about it, I had to tell everyone of my friends that I'm was a furry.
Which lead to multiple friends leaving me and saying that I'm weird as fuck. But that's a completely different story for another time.

Me being in middleschool and about a year into the fandom, I've met this amazing person, who is still a really good friend of mine to this date.
She also was a furry and introduced me to the dutch side of the furry fandom.
She did this by inviting me to a furwalk back in 2015, which lead to be my first furry event I have ever gone too at the time.
Over there I've met many awesome people. who also had the same interests as I did. This lead to me being active in the dutch side of the furry fandom.
And honestly, it wasn't too bad at the time, but it got worse over time.

The Netherlands has a population of about 17 million people. It's not alot compared to alot of other countries like the United States.
Because of this, the amount of furries who live in the Netherlands are very small. Especially concidering most of the furries aren't even socially active over here.

This leads to alot of problems when it comes to drama within the fandom. You see, alot of the people within the dutch furry fandom are very enclosed.
Meaning that they don't really talk that often to people outside of the country in contrast to the people within the country. They usually
make friends who live either close by or somewhere else in the Country. Ofcourse there are some people who break that bubble and actually make friends
outside of the Netherlands.

Because alot of people socialize within the country most of the time, it makes alot of dutch furries usually unrecognized by furries from somewhere else in the world.
I'm not saying this is true all the time. But it definitely there.

Now what makes this an issue when it comes to drama? Well, the drama practically never leaves the dutch part of the fandom. And combined with the oh so few people that are part
of the furry fandom, and who live in the Netherlands, the person or multiple persons who will cause the drama will basically be disliked by pretty much everyone for a long period of time.
Even when it's not really a big deal.

I found myself in this situation some time ago. Back in 2016 that is. Back then, I wasn't too happy with how the fandom was around that time. So I wanted to share my thoughts and
opinions with a friend. I told him that the drama within the fandom is really a waste of people's time and that they should honestly stop being such a sensitive idiot. Now, this didn't go so well.

Apparently he thought it was a good idea to tell some of his other fellow furry buddies. Which lead to them tell their furry buddies, and rumors started to come up. My good friend, who've I have talked
about in the beginning of the video, told me all about this and said that alot of people were angry at me for saying the things I said. After the incident alot of furries who live in the Netherlands
disliked me for a bit.

Luckely that only lasted for about 3 months. That's because me being one of the few people, I never really responded or engange into the drama itself. Alot of furries
do it anyway and they usually get theirselves into even more problem. Because how can you really defend yourself against a relatively large group of people?


Compared to other big countries like the US where there are about 325 million citizens, our part of the furry fandom is small. Therefor drama can be really different.
Take this for example:

Let's say we a furry. His name is Bob. Bob is someone who said to one of his friends inside the furry fandom about what he thinks. Now he thinks a completely unpopulair opinion.
His friend disagrees and decides to tell shit behind Bob's back. Now Bob doesn't know this at first. But after a while he finds out that there has been rumors going around about him.
Just because someone didn't agree with him, he got in alot of trouble. Now this isn't as extreme over in for instance the US. But because the Netherlands has not alot of furries compared to the
US, this is way more exhadurated.

And that's a big problem. Because at that point, you can't really trust anyone without them turning their back against you just because they didn't fully agree with you. Like I said,
this can be about the most harmless thing there is. People still take it out of context. Before you know it, tons of people are against you while a small portion aren't. Just because
Someone had to spread bad stuff about you that are not true most of the time.

I am sertainly not the only one who experienced this. One of my best friends who I've talked about earlier also experienced a, if not multiple, false accusations. I reached out on her if she was willing to
talk about it and tell her experience with it.

Now all of this said, this doesn't mean that I or she dislikes the fandom. I honestly enjoy it alot and still go to furwalks, meets and other events around the area.
There are alot of amazing people who I am friends with and would love to be their friends for a very long time. It's just that some people
in the dutch furry fandom are really awful. And because there are so few over here, the ratio between good and bad furries is pretty low.

Anyway I know this is abit more of a serious video but I just had to get it off my chest. Again, it's not my intention to upset, trashtalk or hurt anyone who is a furry and is also from the Netherlands.
