“Hmph! So this is where you’re hiding!” A young woman stands over a young man lying on his side in a hammock in a small, dingy backyard.

“Just leave me alone Kiki…” the young man had small bottle of bourbon in his hand; there is a radio on top of a stool next to him playing some sad sappy music.

The young woman named “Kiki” sighs then scratches her head.

“Okay, which one is it? Shiro or B.B.?” the question causes the man to groan in annoyance. “Michel, I’m not a newtype or whatever they’re calling them. I won’t know what’s bugging you unless you tell me.”

Silence

Rolling her eyes, Kiki walks around the hammock and grabs the bottle the young man, named “Michel”, was holding. Michel reacted in kind by tying to get the bottle, only for him to fail of the hammock with a *thud*

Michel looks up to see Kiki finishing the last bit of bourbon. With one hand on her waist, Kiki looks at Michel.

“Since I know you can barely afford this kind of booze on your salary. I don’t have to worry about having to down another bottle for you. Now come on, I need you to help me around the house. I’m too tired to cook, so we’re ordering Chinese. Got that?”

With his head tilted down, Michel says “Yes…” and gets up and fallows Kiki inside the apartment.

Michel Ninorich and Kiki Rosita have been living together for roughly two years. The two banded together before during the One Year War, though under different circumstances. After the war was done, they teamed up again for one purpose; finding Ensign Shiro Amada, Michel’s former CO and someone Kiki had feelings for. Shiro had gone missing and had thought to be dead after battling the Apsalus III.

To their luck they were able to find the former ensign along with someone that surprised Michel and Kiki, Aina Sahalin, former Zeon solider and pilot of the Apsalus III. Shiro told the two that he was able to save Aina in time with the only cost being his leg. Since then the two decide to live in seclusion as a couple. It didn’t help that Aina was a former Zeon solider and a sister a high ranking Zeon solider at that, but Shiro is suspected to be a traitor because of his feelings towards Aina. Shiro also told them that Aina is pregnant and is in her 2nd trimester.

Both Kiki and Michel decided to leave Shiro and Aina alone in peace, much to their dismay. They also decided to keep the location of where they are a secret, so that no one will find Shiro and Aina. Those two deserve a long peace and quiet after all. Shiro and Aina were also upset at the situation, but they too realized that it was for the best.

Since then the two have been living together on the outskirts of San Jose in a messy apartment complex. The first thing they did was to clean their rooms the best they can. They didn’t have much cleaning products to use, but they made the most of it. The second thing they did was to get a job, which they were able to find a job working at a superstore. Though they don’t make too much money, they make enough to get by.

The day was a bland one for the two. They mostly stocked the shelves, work the cash registers, and sweep the floors (Kiki made Michel do most of it). When they got back, they felt drained. After they finished cleaning the dishes and doing the laundry, they ordered food from the local Chinese restaurant down the street.

The two start having dinner in the living room with the television is playing an old foreign film from Tamil that Kiki got in the background. The movie is about a scientist creating a robot for military use. Later on the robot gains romantic feelings for the scientist’s girlfriend.

Michel just picks at his general’s chicken with fried rice, still looking pretty upset.

Kiki, who is halfway done with her vegetable lo mein, sees that Michel is barely eating his food.

“Are you STILL upset, Michel?”

There’s a brief silence for have a minute before Michel slowly nodding his head “yes”.

Kiki sighs then puts down her fork and pause the film “Michel, can you at LEAST, just tell me why you are feeling so down. If it’s about Shiro—“

“It’s not about Shiro.”

“Then what is it about? B.B.?”

“W-Well…in a way…it is.”

“Okay, what do you mean by that?”

“Well there were two costumers that came in to work yesterday, a man and a woman. They looked to be a couple. They were holding hands and they looked very happy, and that got me thinking about my love life and how I’ll never find love again.”
