  1. [09-Sep-18 07:36 PM] GM (castella)
  2. Summer is upon us, and it's time for the town's first expedition into the ruins of Yareta City. You've learned little about the city in the shreds of the old world you've found so far, save that it used to be a center of manufacturing. After stocking up at the newly established outpost at the Observatory (choose a prep action to take!), you set out down the path to the city.
  3.
  4. The first few days are uneventful - mostly just a long but easy hike along the cliffside, giving you an unparalleled view of the Duskwood from above. The mighty tree at the center of the woods remains in view at all times, towering over the rest of the forest canopy.
  5.
  6. Eventually though, your path descends back into the forest, and you make your way down to where the woods have blended with the city ruin outskirts, nature reclaiming the skeletons of broken buildings to create a pastiche of metal and greenery.
  7.
  8.
  9. [09-Sep-18 07:39 PM] Rosalie
  10. Having taken some time to bathe in the hot springs herself, Rosalie is refreshed and EXCITED for some exploration. She promptly lets Mysterio the elgyem out as they near the city, knowing full well how eager the little space friend is to see home. Or maybe the little alien just *really* wants another UFO. Hmmm...
  11.
  12.
  13. [09-Sep-18 07:40 PM] GM (castella)
  14. Walking between these twisted, vine-covered frames, you all can hear a chorus of bird calls all around you in the canopy.
  15. They grow louder as you proceed...and also more erratic, to the point of approaching violence.
  16. Mysterio rubs together their little alien hands, as if scheming in their head.
  17.
  18.
  19. [09-Sep-18 07:42 PM] Lugh
  20. Lugh looks around apprehensively. "Are they angry at us or something else?"
  21.
  22.
  23. [09-Sep-18 07:44 PM] Vasko
  24. Vasko inspects the ivy crawling over the ruins, "Well, this is bound to happen eventually... Hm? That noise.. And here I'd thought the birds weren't so bad."
  25.
  26.
  27. [09-Sep-18 07:44 PM] Rosalie
  28. Rosalie cocks her head and whistles a basic tune loudly at nothing in particular!
  29.
  30.
  31. [09-Sep-18 07:45 PM] Yuu
  32. Yuu glances around at the area around them looking for anything else that might be disturbing the birds. "I hope it is just that they just don't like us being here."
  33.
  34.
  35. [09-Sep-18 07:45 PM] Lugh
  36. Lughs pulls out his notebook and starts taking notes about the ways in which the ivy prefers to grow over these industrial parts.
  37.
  38.
  39. [09-Sep-18 07:48 PM] GM (castella)
  40. One by one, birds start to fly down to the branches above you. Fletchlings and Fletchinders on your left, Murkrow to your right. They scream incessantly at each other, and occasionally, one or two of them will fly to the center between their sides, as if playing a game of chicken, then quickly retreat back to the rest of their group.
  41.
  42.
  43. [09-Sep-18 07:48 PM] Vasko
  44. "Haha! You want them not to like us? Well, it's not the worst possibility, I'll give you that. Better to deal with birds than giant dragons."
  45.
  46.
  47. [09-Sep-18 07:48 PM] Rosalie
  48. She gives a friendly wave and a smile to the cute birbies! "What, you did not enjoy yourself back then, Vasko~?"
  49.
  50.
  51. [09-Sep-18 07:49 PM] Lugh
  52. "Is that true in all cases?" Lugh asks Vasko without looking up from his notes.
  53.
  54.
  55. [09-Sep-18 07:49 PM] GM (castella)
  56. There's a soft -thunk- sound as something drops up in the bushes ahead of you. The birds all turn that way, then flutter to the branches above the spot, but it looks like none of them wants to make the first move to swoop down for whatever fell.
  57.
  58.
  59. [09-Sep-18 07:53 PM] Vasko
  60. "The adrenaline was a good rush, but I don't know if I'd do it again! Yet." Vasko glances toward the impact area, and resolves to go inspect it, "Hopefully so, Lugh! Wouldn't want to meet the bird that could prove me wrong on that front. Now, excuse me. Looks as though there's something this way." He sets off toward the spot, minding the birbs as he goes
  61.
  62.
  63. [09-Sep-18 07:55 PM] GM (castella)
  64. The birds glare daggers at each other from across the treetops, then turn as one to watch you as you approach. The fallen object is incredibly easy to spot - there's a glow emanating from behind a couple ferns that are growing out of cracks in the old sidewalk here. Nestled perfectly in a crack is what appears to be a bird-sized necklace with feathers and a glowing stone of red and black attached.
  65.
  66.
  67. [09-Sep-18 07:56 PM] Rosalie
  68. She scoots behind Vasko, carefully poking her head out to get a better look as they approach. It's probably for the best Xander isn't here today!
  69.
  70.
  71. [09-Sep-18 07:57 PM] Yuu
  72. "I was more thinking something stalking the underbrush more then a dragon." Head closer Yuu will crouch down to get a better look at it, poking it with a finger. "Any idea what this thing actually is?"
  73.
  74.
  75. [09-Sep-18 07:58 PM] Lugh
  76. Lugh glances at the birds to watch their reaction to Yuu's poking.
  77.
  78.
  79. [09-Sep-18 07:58 PM] GM (castella)
  80. It's very warm to the touch, but not painful. One of the Murkrows caws as you touch it, but its buddies on either side stick out their wings to stop it from swooping down. A Fletchinder takes to the air and flutters back and forth, watching as well.
  81.
  82.
  83. [09-Sep-18 07:58 PM] Rosalie
  84. Rosalie glances at Lugh to watch his reaction to the birds' reaction to Yuu's poking.
  85.
  86.
  87. [09-Sep-18 08:00 PM] Lugh
  88. Lugh begins to write something down but then notices Rosalie's watchful eye. He blushes slightly and doesn't write anything.
  89.
  90.
  91. [09-Sep-18 08:01 PM] Yuu
  92. Yuu glances up at the Murkrow who cawed at him, then back at the others. "Think I should just pick it up?" Looking back at the birds, "Do you all mind if I pick it up?"
  93.
  94.
  95. [09-Sep-18 08:01 PM] Rosalie
  96. She beams in amusement and turns back to watch the stealthy one play diplomat with the birds.
  97.
  98.
  99. [09-Sep-18 08:01 PM] Vasko
  100. Vasko scans the birds, thinking, "Were they...fighting over this? Well, if they were, they might fight us, should we snatch it."
  101.
  102.
  103. [09-Sep-18 08:02 PM] Rosalie
  104. "Perhaps it's an invitation!"
  105.
  106.
  107. [09-Sep-18 08:04 PM] GM (castella)
  108. At your question, both sides of explode into a cacophony of caws and fluttering wings. Each groups seems to be arguing amongst themselves more than anything for a moment, then, in perfect sync, one Murkrow and one Fletchinder from each side fly down and settle a few steps away from you, Yuu. They both make motions towards themselves with their wings while spewing invective (you assume) at the other, like they're telling you to pick up the stone and give it to _them_ and not _that other dumb bird over there_.
  109. Mysterio beeps and boops at Rosalie and Lugh while pointing at you and making various gestures and flexing motions. You get...the general idea? You think? The birds have watched y'all journey through the woods before and regard you as strong, which might explain why they're trying to have you pick who gets the stone here.
  110.
  111.
  112. [09-Sep-18 08:06 PM] Lugh
  113. Lugh whispers to Vasko as the birds argue. "What happens if we give it to neither of them?"
  114.
  115.
  116. [09-Sep-18 08:06 PM] Rosalie
  117. Does the necklace look like it has enough length to be remade into two, smaller necklaces?...possibly with having to crack the main rock in two?
  118.
  119.
  120. [09-Sep-18 08:07 PM] Yuu
  121. "I'm... I'm not really sure I want to take a stance on what side of avian politics I stand with."
  122.
  123.
  124. [09-Sep-18 08:07 PM] GM (castella)
  125. There's not quite enough for that, Rosalie. Though you do have some string of your own, if I recall.
  126.
  127.
  128. [09-Sep-18 08:07 PM] Vasko
  129. "...Well, either they let us keep it, or they take it upon themselves to decide which one gets it."
  130. "Won't be us, I'd wager."
  131.
  132.
  133. [09-Sep-18 08:08 PM] Rosalie
  134. "I...think I have an idea...to satisfy both groups!"
  135.
  136.
  137. [09-Sep-18 08:08 PM] Lugh
  138. "I hope it doesn't involve breaking the glowing, possibly unstable rock?"
  139.
  140.
  141. [09-Sep-18 08:08 PM] Rosalie
  142. "It very much does!"
  143.
  144.
  145. [09-Sep-18 08:09 PM] Lugh
  146. "That...is not advisable."
  147. Lugh looks at the rock and tries to determine if he needs to get a safe distance away before Rosalie enacts her scheme.
  148.
  149.
  150. [09-Sep-18 08:09 PM] Rosalie
  151. Rosalie lets Eduardo out. "Eduardo, you know rocks, is there anything dangerous about that glowy rock?"
  152.
  153.
  154. [09-Sep-18 08:09 PM] GM (castella)
  155. Give me an Insight roll, Lugh.
  156.
  157.
  158. [09-Sep-18 08:09 PM] Rosalie
  159. "...at least I assume you know rocks...what with being one..."
  160.
  161.
  162. [09-Sep-18 08:09 PM] Lugh
  163. Gadgeteer or Solarpunk count?
  164.
  165.
  166. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] GM (castella)
  167. Gadgeteer sure
  168.
  169.
  170. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] Lugh
  171. 1d20+4+1d6
  172.
  173.
  174. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] GM's Toolkit#6456
  175. Lugh:
  176. 1d20+4+1d6:`(3)+4+(6)=13`
  177.
  178.
  179. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] Vasko
  180. "Are you sure about that? Breaking it could anger all of them."
  181.
  182.
  183. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] Rosalie
  184. "Oh I'd make sure to cover up what I was doing!"
  185.
  186.
  187. [09-Sep-18 08:10 PM] GM (castella)
  188. Eduardo feigns the _deepest offense_ at your assumption! He goes and checks the rock though. He takes a look and shrugs, seeming bored by it.
  189. Lugh, you think it's safe. It's too small to contain much energy and seems like it's most akin to the materials used to make Flame Charms, and possibly mixed with a Rude Charm
  190.
  191.
  192. [09-Sep-18 08:12 PM] Yuu
  193. "How do you cover up something like that?"
  194.
  195.
  196. [09-Sep-18 08:12 PM] Rosalie
  197. Rosalie unfurls her tent! Do tents unfurl? Whatever the proper unpacking verb is for tents!
  198.
  199.
  200. [09-Sep-18 08:13 PM] Lugh
  201. Lugh sighs. "I suppose it looks safe enough. I'd wager they've heard our plan though..."
  202.
  203.
  204. [09-Sep-18 08:14 PM] Rosalie
  205. "Perhaps, but any actual objections? I have some exquisite string that we can use to help make the second necklace, distributing the various parts across both necklaces, and Eduardo can help break the rock into two bits and sand them down a bit to both look like their own separate, shiny pieces of splendor!"
  206.
  207.
  208. [09-Sep-18 08:15 PM] Lugh
  209. Lugh seems skeptical but voices no objections.
  210.
  211.
  212. [09-Sep-18 08:15 PM] Rosalie
  213. "I would not think either group would truly be against it when the alternative is they come away with nothing!"
  214.
  215.
  216. [09-Sep-18 08:15 PM] Vasko
  217. "Well...even if we picked one, I doubt they'd honor our decision for long. They'd end up fighting over it again eventually. So, uh...go for it?"
  218.
  219.
  220. [09-Sep-18 08:16 PM] Lugh
  221. "They probably view the alternative as getting their entire prize. They seem like optimists."
  222.
  223.
  224. [09-Sep-18 08:16 PM] Yuu
  225. "Seems like it's worth a shot, worse case is we just get pecked to death right?"
  226.
  227.
  228. [09-Sep-18 08:18 PM] Rosalie
  229. "And then we can experience the return trip from Hades! Not such a bad worst case!" She plucks the necklace from whoever had it last and gives a sweeping bow to the birds before dragging Eduardo under the cover of her tent and gets to work making two simpler necklaces using the silk she obtained from the bugs and Eduardo's skilled hands to break the pretty stone in two and polish both halves to be even shinier.
  230.
  231.
  232. [09-Sep-18 08:20 PM] GM (castella)
  233. The Fletchling/inder faction begins to caw loudly at this, and the birds on the branches flare up - literally! The Murkrow fly down and surround the tent though before the other birds can do more. If they did indeed understand your plan, it must be the Murkrows' benefit somehow.
  234. When Eduardo snaps the stone in two, light spills out of the cracked edges, but then slowly seals over. One stone is a deep red, the glow swirling slightly when you watch it. It's very hot, definitely a bit painful to hold now.
  235. The other has turned jet black and induces an unsettling tingle in your fingers as you handle it.
  236.
  237.
  238. [09-Sep-18 08:21 PM] Rosalie
  239. She lets out a sharp whistle while working. "Bird friends! I understand your excitement, but be patient and you shall all be rewarded with much more glamoro- ooooh, neat!"
  240.
  241.
  242. [09-Sep-18 08:22 PM] Lugh
  243. "Well they seem pleased with this..." Lugh glances at the Murkrow guardians.
  244.
  245.
  246. [09-Sep-18 08:22 PM] GM (castella)
  247. There's a tense stalemate outside as you work, with the Murkrows standing guard outside your tent until you emerge about 10 minutes later with a pair of stone necklaces.
  248.
  249.
  250. [09-Sep-18 08:23 PM] Rosalie
  251. Rosalie looks over the necklaces, both hands twitching a little from incredibly different sensations. Satisfied with her work, she tosses the ominous jet black one to a Murkrow and the hot, red glowy one to a Fletchfriend.
  252.
  253.
  254. [09-Sep-18 08:24 PM] Yuu
  255. "What if they wanted the other halves?"
  256.
  257.
  258. [09-Sep-18 08:24 PM] Rosalie
  259. "Well then I have chosen terribly!"
  260.
  261.
  262. [09-Sep-18 08:25 PM] GM (castella)
  263. The Murkrow around your tent clear the way as a smaller Murkrow - the smallest of the group, it seems - approaches and picks up the jet black necklace, deftly tossing it up in the air with its beak and letting it drop over its neck. Meanwhile, a large Fletchinder roughly picks up the other half. It glares daggers at Rosalie, then flutters back up to a branch in a shower of cinders.
  264.
  265.
  266. [09-Sep-18 08:25 PM] Vasko
  267. "I think we'll be okay. They seem the fashionable type; wouldn't want clashing colors."
  268.
  269.
  270. [09-Sep-18 08:26 PM] Rosalie
  271. "Also if they appreciated the opposing aesthetics more, I'd think they'd have gotten along and not had two unfortunately segreg- aw, I missed an opportunity to suggest they work together by embracing the aesthetics of the other group as their own..."
  272.
  273.
  274. [09-Sep-18 08:26 PM] GM (castella)
  275. The group of Murkrow then all line up, and the tiny one caws at the other birds. The Fletchlings and Fletchinders give what look like begrudging bows to the crows, then take off to the skies, raining passive aggressive sparks and cinders down on everyone - just enough to sting but not cause damage - as they leave.
  276.
  277.
  278. [09-Sep-18 08:27 PM] Rosalie
  279. Rosalie claps excitedly at the display, completely missing the suggestion that it was supposed to be intimidating or any kind of threat.
  280.
  281.
  282. [09-Sep-18 08:27 PM] GM (castella)
  283. The tiny Murkrow, meanwhile, gives a salute towards Rosalie and then takes a perch up on the highest tree nearby. The Murkrow around them do the same, taking perches on the ruins of buildings and on the tops of other trees.
  284.
  285.
  286. [09-Sep-18 08:27 PM] Vasko
  287. "Hah..well, there'd still only be the one--Whoa! Careful with that! We're flammable, you know!"
  288.
  289.
  290. [09-Sep-18 08:28 PM] GM (castella)
  291. Eduardo and Mysterio are grunting and booping at each other respectively, and after a bit of consultation, Mysterio traces a crude map in the dirt and draws a line bisecting it. Eduardo adds to the map with a stone on each side.
  292.
  293.
  294. [09-Sep-18 08:28 PM] Lugh
  295. "Hurray, we have another enemy."
  296.
  297.
  298. [09-Sep-18 08:29 PM] GM (castella)
  299. It looks like they're trying to tell you they think the stones are marks of fiefdom for the birds.
  300.
  301.
  302. [09-Sep-18 08:29 PM] Rosalie
  303. She looks over the map carefully. "Lughy, come draw this!"
  304.
  305.
  306. [09-Sep-18 08:29 PM] Yuu
  307. "Well, they did come to us because they thought we were strong right? So they might not want to really start anything serious at least."
  308.
  309.
  310. [09-Sep-18 08:29 PM] Lugh
  311. Lugh copies the map to his notes diligently.
  312.
  313.
  314. [09-Sep-18 08:29 PM] GM (castella)
  315. It's not like...an actual map of the area. It's just something that they thought you would recognize as supposed to be a map
  316. To demonstrate the whole territory thing
  317.
  318.
  319. [09-Sep-18 08:30 PM] Lugh
  320. He copies it nonetheless for the intent behind it.
  321.
  322.
  323. [09-Sep-18 08:30 PM] Rosalie
  324. Well Rosalie isn't psychic, Mysterio is!
  325. She thanks her two faithful mons and recalls Eduardo, allowing Mysterio to stay out.
  326. "Deeper into the city then?"
  327.
  328.
  329. [09-Sep-18 08:32 PM] Vasko
  330. "Hopefully they don't end up fighting over land anymore." Vasko takes his eyes off the sparking birds and nods, "Yes, I think we should head on. It's what we came here for. There's still a chance there could be people here... or any number of things!"
  331.
  332.
  333. [09-Sep-18 08:33 PM] Rosalie
  334. "Be on the look out for floating doom uh...orbs? Hovery...floaty metal things. Lugh knows what I'm talking about! My friend here was riding one when they attacked a part of the Duskwood we were investigating."
  335.
  336.
  337. [09-Sep-18 08:33 PM] Lugh
  338. "I think the proper term is 'Doom Saucer'."
  339.
  340.
  341. [09-Sep-18 08:34 PM] Rosalie
  342. "Oh, that's a good term! Have you been hanging out with Xander???"
  343.
  344.
  345. [09-Sep-18 08:34 PM] Lugh
  346. "N-no! That's just what I read somewhere..."
  347.
  348.
  349. [09-Sep-18 08:35 PM] Vasko
  350. "Attacked the Duskwood? Doom Saucer?? I'll...keep an eye out. They sound easy enough to spot."
  351.
  352.
  353. [09-Sep-18 08:35 PM] GM (castella)
  354. You proceed deeper into the city, and while the overgrowth remains as dense as ever, you can tell you're getting deeper into the city by the fact the rusted metal building frames are either taller, or have collapsed into larger piles all around. Once in a while, you see tall concrete pillars, the remnants of old highways you might have read about at one point.
  355.
  356.
  357. [09-Sep-18 08:35 PM] Rosalie
  358. "They shoot lightning, so, yes. They are not subtle. Although they are remarkably quiet in the air otherwise."
  359.
  360.
  361. [09-Sep-18 08:36 PM] Yuu
  362. "I would like to hear about this a bit more in depth at some point."
  363.
  364.
  365. [09-Sep-18 08:37 PM] GM (castella)
  366. The first major landmark you come across is a series of these pillars, with a large section of highway still standing on them. Flowering vines have grown up the pillars, and you can see the tops are covered with grass. Some sort of Pokemon are hopping about up there, and you can see rustling in the thick bushes surrounding the vine-covered pillars too.
  367. We're going to try something this session that may or may not end up working well. We'll see! Hop into Roll20!
  368.
  369.
  370. [09-Sep-18 08:38 PM] Lugh
  371. Lugh marvels at the enormous mixture of vegetation and architecture.
  372.
  373.
  374. [09-Sep-18 08:39 PM] Rosalie
  375. "Oh, we have plenty of stories we could tell you about some time! And hopefully we can make new good stories on this outing!" She grins, looking around in amazement as well.
  376.
  377.
  378. [09-Sep-18 08:39 PM] Vasko
  379. "Fascinating! It's concrete, but it's supporting plant life almost as though it were fertile ground. I wonder how..."
  380.
  381.
  382. [09-Sep-18 08:39 PM] GM (castella)
  383. Welcome to Southwest Yareta City. I'll be revealing portions of the map as you explore, to give you a sense of where you are relative to major landmarks.
  384.
  385.
  386. [09-Sep-18 08:40 PM] Yuu
  387. Yuu will head over to test how easy it would be to climb up with some of the vines.
  388.
  389.
  390. [09-Sep-18 08:40 PM] GM (castella)
  391. The vines are very sturdy!
  392.
  393.
  394. [09-Sep-18 08:40 PM] Lugh
  395. "Perhaps the vines from below are somehow feeding nutrients to the overgrowth at the top..."
  396.
  397.
  398. [09-Sep-18 08:40 PM] Rosalie
  399. "And maybe the pokemon are involved somehow themselves!"
  400.
  401.
  402. [09-Sep-18 08:41 PM] Vasko
  403. "If so, they could be useful back home. We have lots of ruins for them to cultivate!"
  404.
  405.
  406. [09-Sep-18 08:41 PM] Rosalie
  407. "Mysterio, is there any general direction we should avoid?"
  408.
  409.
  410. [09-Sep-18 08:41 PM] GM (castella)
  411. Mysterio nod nods furiously.
  412.
  413.
  414. [09-Sep-18 08:41 PM] Lugh
  415. Lugh cautiously approaches the rustling bushes, trying to catch a glimpse of what lies within.
  416.
  417.
  418. [09-Sep-18 08:42 PM] GM (castella)
  419. He floats around a bit, looking up to the sky, but he can't seem to find a good spot from the ground to point out what he wants. He settles for gesturing up and to the northwest - which would be up towards Mt. Inthan again - and then makes an X with his arms.
  420.
  421.
  422. [09-Sep-18 08:43 PM] Rosalie
  423. "Alright, noted! Beep and boop in a panicked manner at me if we start going somewhere bad. Or if we end up near somewhere you wanna go."
  424.
  425.
  426. [09-Sep-18 08:43 PM] GM (castella)
  427. Mysterio then makes gun shooty motions and lots of little beep boop noises that are _obviously_ supposed to be more like pew pew
  428.
  429.
  430. [09-Sep-18 08:44 PM] Lugh
  431. Lugh looks at Mysterio with concern in response to the noises, but then just smirks when he realizes it is simply adorable.
  432.
  433.
  434. [09-Sep-18 08:44 PM] Rosalie
  435. "...do pokemon use guns???"
  436.
  437.
  438. [09-Sep-18 08:44 PM] Yuu
  439. "There's only... well, there's probably more then one, but there's one *best* way to find out."
  440.
  441.
  442. [09-Sep-18 08:44 PM] GM (castella)
  443. Mysterio shakes their head.
  444. They emit a long series of beeps and boops, but you're not sure what that means here.
  445.
  446.
  447. [09-Sep-18 08:45 PM] Rosalie
  448. "Hmmm...one day I need to get you in a room with Lugh and Wick and we'll see which one can tap into the meaning of your boopy beeps!"
  449.
  450.
  451. [09-Sep-18 08:45 PM] Vasko
  452. "Would you trust Wick's interpretation?"
  453.
  454.
  455. [09-Sep-18 08:46 PM] Rosalie
  456. "I trust Wick's everything!"
  457. "I mean, we are dating now, it seems like it would be weird if I didn't???"
  458.
  459.
  460. [09-Sep-18 08:46 PM] Lugh
  461. "I wouldn't trust literally every- wait, what?"
  462.
  463.
  464. [09-Sep-18 08:46 PM] GM (castella)
  465. Lugh, you approach the rustling bushes. As you get closer, you hear the sound of metal on metal as well as see dirt being thrown in the air like someone's digging... and then a Mime Jr pops its head out from the bushes! It smiles widely...then sees you and frowns.
  466.
  467.
  468. [09-Sep-18 08:47 PM] Lugh
  469. "Oh no. Hi!"
  470. He tries not to let his panic show.
  471.
  472.
  473. [09-Sep-18 08:47 PM] Rosalie
  474. The clown turns and waves to the mime!
  475.
  476.
  477. [09-Sep-18 08:48 PM] GM (castella)
  478. The Mime Jr teasingly pokes at the whistle hanging around its neck but then turns its attention back to the bushes. A group of four Mawile begin to carry a large metal crate out with their faux jaws. There's still mud caked on the corners.
  479.
  480.
  481. [09-Sep-18 08:49 PM] Vasko
  482. "....What? You--and Wick? Wow. Did not see that coming. Well, uh, congratulations? But for now...today's full of surprises. That Pokemon doesn't look like something that could cause this kind of growth..."
  483.
  484.
  485. [09-Sep-18 08:51 PM] Rosalie
  486. "Is it...really so surprising?" She :S's a little and turns to watch the mons at work. "Huh..."
  487.
  488.
  489. [09-Sep-18 08:51 PM] Yuu
  490. "I really have missed a lot going on it seems like."
  491.
  492.
  493. [09-Sep-18 08:53 PM] Vasko
  494. "More on account of Wick than you. But sorry, I didn't mean to upset you! And it looks as though we have guests? Cages, huh...reminds me of the dam."
  495.
  496.
  497. [09-Sep-18 08:54 PM] GM (castella)
  498. The Mime Jr leads the Mawiles off back to the south, where you came from. This must be how the Kupo Shop gets stocked with random pre-fall human-made objects, but...
  499. The Mawile don't make it very far before a dark shadow appears above them, and something large and red swoops down at them! A Scizor grabs the metal box in its claws and flies off! Most of the Mawile drop off the box, but one of them remains latched on as it gets flown away to the north east!
  500.
  501.
  502. [09-Sep-18 08:54 PM] Rosalie
  503. She turns to Mysterio. "That the scary thing?"
  504.
  505.
  506. [09-Sep-18 08:55 PM] Lugh
  507. "Oh no!"
  508.
  509.
  510. [09-Sep-18 08:55 PM] GM (castella)
  511. The Mime Jr hops up in a panic and tries to launch a telekinetic attack at the Scizor but to no avail. It babbles in an incoherent and cute sounding - but unmistakably angry - stream of sounds while stomping on the ground.
  512. Mysterio shakes their head.
  513.
  514.
  515. [09-Sep-18 08:55 PM] Lugh
  516. "We should help them, right?"
  517.
  518.
  519. [09-Sep-18 08:56 PM] Rosalie
  520. "Huh...the scary thing *must* be scary if the armored bug thing isn't a scary thing! And I suppose it would be a good idea, yes!"
  521.
  522.
  523. [09-Sep-18 08:56 PM] Vasko
  524. "Oh, unlucky little one... Yes, I think we ought to. It's probably terrified, that high up."
  525.
  526.
  527. [09-Sep-18 08:56 PM] Yuu
  528. Yuu will let Tuath out to keep an eye out and head over to make sure the Mawile who didn't get taken are all okay. "None of you get grabbed or nicked at all right?"
  529.
  530.
  531. [09-Sep-18 08:57 PM] GM (castella)
  532. The Mawile huddle close and hug each other for comfort. They nod at you and seem to be alright.
  533. The Mime Jr meanwhile paces around in a circle, giving a glance at your group once in a while. It sighs deeply and dramatically, then approaches Lugh with a sheepish look.
  534. It babbles a bit and points off to the northeast and then looks away all tsundere-like.
  535.
  536.
  537. [09-Sep-18 08:59 PM] Lugh
  538. Lugh was already two steps in that direction, but he looks back at the Mime's awkward request. "Um, yes. We will help." He starts trying to forge a trail, which he is terrible at.
  539.
  540.
  541. [09-Sep-18 08:59 PM] Rosalie
  542. Rosalie can't help herself and tries to honk the Mime Jr's nose.
  543.
  544.
  545. [09-Sep-18 09:00 PM] GM (castella)
  546. The Mime Jr is caught off guard and doesn't manage to stop you from honking. It leaps back in surprise and clutches its nose in embarrassment. It looks ready to counter-honk YOUR nose, floating up in the air to head height, then looks to Lugh and then stops.
  547.
  548.
  549. [09-Sep-18 09:00 PM] Rosalie
  550. She holds her nose out willingly. It's only fair!
  551.
  552.
  553. [09-Sep-18 09:01 PM] GM (castella)
  554. It looks like the Scizor went to the north east, but with the canopy as thick as it is, it's hard to see for _sure_ from the ground. It seems though like there isn't a good direct path in that direction - the collapsed buildings look like they make quite a thorny maze of rusted metal.
  555. It's also hard to see what the north and east look like from the ground too, though you notice there's more rot and mushrooms in the path east.
  556.
  557.
  558. [09-Sep-18 09:02 PM] Lugh
  559. Lugh nods to the Mime. "It's only fair, you'd better get her back."
  560.
  561.
  562. [09-Sep-18 09:02 PM] Yuu
  563. Yuu pats the Mawile's heads and on turning back to seeing the scene with the Mime Jr and Rosalie smiles and shakes his head before going to help Lugh with forging a path.
  564.
  565.
  566. [09-Sep-18 09:02 PM] Vasko
  567. Vasko steps up to Lugh, "Ready to go, are you? Well, our quarry can fly, so this is going to be a bit tricky. Still, we've got a direction, at least." He checks around for a tall pillar, "If I can climb up one of these, I can get a better vantage point for a look around..."
  568.
  569.
  570. [09-Sep-18 09:03 PM] GM (castella)
  571. The Mime HONKS your nose, Rosalie. It looks very satisfied but tries not to show it.
  572.
  573.
  574. [09-Sep-18 09:03 PM] Lugh
  575. "Maybe we should all climb up. Does it seem like we could travel better up there in the canopy?"
  576.
  577.
  578. [09-Sep-18 09:03 PM] Rosalie
  579. She makes a horn-like hum through her nose perfectly timed and grins at the little mime before running off with the rest.
  580.
  581.
  582. [09-Sep-18 09:04 PM] Yuu
  583. Yuu will head over towards one and start to climb up. "Might as well all take a look at least, more eyes on the lay of the land."
  584.
  585.
  586. [09-Sep-18 09:05 PM] Rosalie
  587. "Up is it? Alrighty!" Rosalie gets to climbing!
  588.
  589.
  590. [09-Sep-18 09:05 PM] Vasko
  591. "Could be, but you don't want to fall. Nothing around here looks like it'd make for a cushy landing." Vasko, too, will scale one of the pillars
  592.
  593.
  594. [09-Sep-18 09:06 PM] Lugh
  595. Lugh releases Olwen to help him as he starts climbing.
  596.
  597.
  598. [09-Sep-18 09:07 PM] GM (castella)
  599. With the vines as thick and sturdy as they are, it's not difficult to scale the pillars as long as you're slow and careful, especially with some help from your Pokemon to keep you from falling. If you wanna climb more recklessly and try to get up there faster before the Scizor flies too far though, give me a Strong or Quick check!

  636. Rosalie and Yuu, you both manage to rush up the pillars no problem! Lugh and Vasko though....you both slip and take a small tumble to the ground - lose two Ticks of HP.
  637. Up at the top, Yuu and Rosalie can see the Scizor flying over the metal labyrinth. This must have been one of those "downtown" areas back in the day, filled with metal and glass buildings reaching to the skies...but that cheap modern construction can hardly survive over a hundred freeze-thaw cycles and the rust and wear that comes with it without maintenance. What CAN survive that though is an old stone building, which is exactly what you see the Scizor fly into if you squint a bit.
  638. Lugh and Vasko, it's simple enough to climb up again - more methodically this time - if you wanna join the others after they witness this.
  639.
  640.
  641. [09-Sep-18 09:12 PM] Lugh
  642. Lugh finally climbs over the edge of the crumbling highway, wiping a bit of blood off his lip as he walks up to the others. "Did you happen to spot it?"
  643.
  644.
  645. [09-Sep-18 09:12 PM] GM (castella)
  646. To the east, you can see what looks like the same sort of metal labyrinth, though on a smaller scale. Unlike the path to the northeast though, the labyrinth is occasionally interrupted by sections of highway like the one you're standing on. There even seems to be a path you can take from tree to tree between them if you're eeeextra careful.
  647. As you're looking around, pokemon pop out of the overgrowth here - lots of hoppips and skiplooms, with the occasional jumpluff as well.
  648.
  649.
  650. [09-Sep-18 09:13 PM] Rosalie
  651. "Ah yes, in that stone buildin- OH!" She frowns as she notices the trouble the other two must have had. "Sorry!"
  652.
  653.
  654. [09-Sep-18 09:13 PM] GM (castella)
  655. They fill the air with dandelion puffs as they dance around your feet curiously.
  656.
  657.
  658. [09-Sep-18 09:14 PM] Lugh
  659. "Hm? Oh, it's nothing much. Just a little blood, is all."
  660.
  661.
  662. [09-Sep-18 09:14 PM] Vasko
  663. Vasko brushes the dirt off his scrapes and gets back up, joining the others, "No worries, everything's good... Hmm, it certainly is easier to tell which way is what from up here."
  664.
  665.
  666. [09-Sep-18 09:15 PM] GM (castella)
  667. To the north, you see an easier path along the ground, though no sections of highway like here. That area looks like it has more older stone buildings that have survived the fall of humanity far between than the more modern skyscrapers did, but even they look covered with vines, stone walls often split in half by protruding greenery. Nothing escapes nature's grasp, it seems.
  668.
  669.
  670. [09-Sep-18 09:15 PM] Rosalie
  671. Rosalie gives a small wave to the adorable hoppy mons.
  672.
  673.
  674. [09-Sep-18 09:15 PM] Yuu
  675. "Damn, should have had Tuath help out or something. Climbing backpack with the vines or something." Yuu looks around, taking in the view from the vantage point. "Wild view from up here."
  676.
  677.
  678. [09-Sep-18 09:16 PM] Lugh
  679. Lugh catches a few of the dandelion puffs and stores them away for later.
  680.
  681.
  682. [09-Sep-18 09:17 PM] Rosalie
  683. Likewise, Rosalie approaches two of the hoppips cautiously! The dandelion puff makers would probably be good for the town.
  684.
  685.
  686. [09-Sep-18 09:18 PM] Vasko
  687. "Hm...there's an easy path, but I think I'd like to risk the trees. It seems a lot more interesting. But that could be just me... I'd understand if you all want to take the stress-free route."
  688.
  689.
  690. [09-Sep-18 09:18 PM] Lugh
  691. "If a little risk will get us to that poor Mawile faster, then I'm up for it."
  692.
  693.
  694. [09-Sep-18 09:19 PM] GM (castella)
  695. The two Hoppips chatter at each other as they examine your face and makeup, Rosalie. They seem to be bewildered but approve. One of them hops over the edge and points a leaf down at the Mime Jr on the ground, but the other one shakes its head - nope you are not a big weird Mime Jr.
  696.
  697.
  698. [09-Sep-18 09:20 PM] Yuu
  699. "I'd be up for it, will try to have Tauth or Nyx help people along as we go."
  700.
  701.
  702. [09-Sep-18 09:20 PM] GM (castella)
  703. The risky path _does_ look more straightforward. It's a fairly linear path along the highway, while the other has you snaking between the ruins of old buildings.
  704.
  705.
  706. [09-Sep-18 09:20 PM] Rosalie
  707. She flips out two apricorn balls and offers them to the Hoppips. "Tired of being confined to this same area with spooky monster bugs kidnapping folks? I'd like to extend you each an invite to a happy little town we've got with all kinds of grasses, flowers, and places to play and things to see!"
  708.
  709.
  710. [09-Sep-18 09:22 PM] Lugh
  711. Lugh leans down next to Rosalie and smiles at the puffballs as well. "There are also other grassy folk like you, if that helps."
  712.
  713.
  714. [09-Sep-18 09:23 PM] GM (castella)
  715. The Hoppips look at each other with :O faces. One of them does a little wiggle wiggle like a tangle of vines with its leaves. The other mimics burying into the ground with just its leaves sticking out. They look at you questioningly.
  716.
  717.
  718. [09-Sep-18 09:25 PM] Rosalie
  719. "Well I've noticed one little living friend made out of vines that wanders around and plants flowers everywhere. Also a farm. Kind of several farms? But yes, plenty of places to plant yourselves or roam however you see fit! And we make sure to keep it safe."
  720.
  721.
  722. [09-Sep-18 09:25 PM] GM (castella)
  723. They hop up and down excitedly and reach up toward the apricorn balls.
  724.
  725.
  726. [09-Sep-18 09:25 PM] Rosalie
  727. Combo boop
  728. And with that out of the way. "Well I had the crazy idea of trying to see if we can grab enough of these little floaty friends to glide across the landscape, but that seems ill-advised! So we goin' back down to continue?"
  729.
  730.
  731. [09-Sep-18 09:28 PM] Vasko
  732. "Hm? Oh, you're trying to convince them to come home with us? Well, I did say they might be helpful. Good thinking." He looks out over the canopy, "Actually, I think I'm going to stay up here, and try my luck. There could be more Pokemon like that along the way, or unique plant life up here we can't find on the forest floor... Besides, it seems faster."
  733.
  734.
  735. [09-Sep-18 09:28 PM] Lugh
  736. Lugh nods, stepping up next to Vasko. "We should get moving."
  737.
  738.
  739. [09-Sep-18 09:28 PM] Rosalie
  740. "Oho! Dragons are too much but death defying aerial acrobatics are no sweat, huh? Well then!"
  741.
  742.
  743. [09-Sep-18 09:29 PM] Yuu
  744. "Well the fall at least doesn't involve getting digested."
  745.
  746.
  747. [09-Sep-18 09:30 PM] Lugh
  748. "If you're lucky, anyway."
  749. "Come to think of it, I haven't seen a Victreebel in quite some time."
  750.
  751.
  752. [09-Sep-18 09:30 PM] Rosalie
  753. Rosalie snorts a laugh. "Ha...Wicktreebel...I need to remember that one."
  754.
  755.
  756. [09-Sep-18 09:31 PM] Vasko
  757. "I said 'yet'! One day I might go back there. But I know what I'm capable of right now, and taking on that monster dragon doesn't fall into that category. ...Anyway! Yes, I'm afraid of no trees I've ever seen!"
  758.
  759.
  760. [09-Sep-18 09:31 PM] Lugh
  761. "Oh yeah, he _hates_ that one. Use it wisely."
  762.
  763.
  764. [09-Sep-18 09:32 PM] Rosalie
  765. "I'll just have to wink every so sweetly when I use it then! Now then..." She steps over to look over the trees they'll be jumping to. "Any smart ideas or are we just going for it?"
  766.
  767.
  768. [09-Sep-18 09:33 PM] Lugh
  769. Lugh pulls out the climbing equipment he prepared at camp last night. "I may have an idea...have you all heard of zip lines?"
  770.
  771.
  772. [09-Sep-18 09:34 PM] GM (castella)
  773. If you're taking this way, it'll be a Challenging roll! And if you fall, you'll get hurt of course...Pick one out of Quick, Subtle, or Focused if you're going to try to jump, tightrope, or carefully shimmy across the vines to get from highway segment to highway segment. Oh or Lugh can come up with a THING.
  774.
  775.
  776. [09-Sep-18 09:34 PM] Vasko
  777. "Oh! I was considering something similar with the vines...but if you've actual tools, that's even better."
  778.
  779.
  780. [09-Sep-18 09:35 PM] Rosalie
  781. She unzips and rezips an errant zipper on her patchwork clown outfit with a look of confusion.
  782.
  783.
  784. [09-Sep-18 09:35 PM] Lugh
  785. Lugh explains the basic premise of ziplines to Rosalie and anyone else that is unfamiliar.
  786.
  787.
  788. [09-Sep-18 09:36 PM] Rosalie
  789. "Well...I feel pretty confident in my own capabilities. I could be the one to run it across, yes?"
  790.
  791.
  792. [09-Sep-18 09:37 PM] Lugh
  793. "If you're up for it. We could also maybe have a flying or vine-wielding Pokemon bring it across even more safely."
  794.
  795.
  796. [09-Sep-18 09:38 PM] Rosalie
  797. She stretches and shrugs before goin' for it!

  806. [09-Sep-18 09:38 PM] Rosalie
  807. Bringing the line of course.
  808.
  809.
  810. [09-Sep-18 09:38 PM] Lugh
  811. "O-oh."
  812. Lugh holds his breath.
  813.
  814.
  815. [09-Sep-18 09:40 PM] GM (castella)
  816. Rosalie hops over with the zipline equipment, throwing in a few fancy flips just for flair. She makes it over easily. And she can see from here on out, the segments of highway are close enough you can mostly just walk over. It's a good thing you didn't try to walk over here and then climb _this_ section though - the base is surrounded by a mess of thorny vines and rusty jagged metal.
  817.
  818.
  819. [09-Sep-18 09:40 PM] Vasko
  820. "I trust her with this, don't worry!"
  821.
  822.
  823. [09-Sep-18 09:41 PM] Lugh
  824. Lugh sighs with relief as she makes it across, and begins setting up the equipment on this side for whoever is going first.
  825.
  826.
  827. [09-Sep-18 09:41 PM] Rosalie
  828. She turns and bows to the rest before setting up the line on her side as directed.
  829.
  830.
  831. [09-Sep-18 09:42 PM] Yuu
  832. "Nicely done." Yuu applauds obligingly as she bows.
  833.
  834.
  835. [09-Sep-18 09:43 PM] GM (castella)
  836. You all can hear a bunch of chattering from behind you as you're getting all of this set up. It looks like the Mime Jr and the group of Mawiles have climbed up to see what's going on after they saw Rosalie's acrobatic display from the ground.
  837.
  838.
  839. [09-Sep-18 09:44 PM] Rosalie
  840. Once her work is done, she'd continue hopping along the other segments to keep from crowding up the path.
  841.
  842.
  843. [09-Sep-18 09:47 PM] GM (castella)
  844. The zipline is set up, and you can all go across! The Mime Jr and Mawiles wait until you've all gone and then follow you along if there are no objections from y'all.
  845.
  846.
  847. [09-Sep-18 09:47 PM] Lugh
  848. Lugh tries to let everyone else go first before cleaning the equipment up.
  849.
  850.
  851. [09-Sep-18 09:49 PM] Vasko
  852. Sounds good. Vasko would be a little wary if the line would hold him, but, hopefully it does
  853.
  854.
  855. [09-Sep-18 09:49 PM] Rosalie
  856. Rosalie won't be the one denying them a chance to help rescue their friend!
  857.
  858.
  859. [09-Sep-18 09:50 PM] GM (castella)
  860. Rosalie, up ahead, you can see the overgrowth is a bit less crazy here. More of the trees here have fallen and are rotting, which is giving rise to all sorts of colorful mushroom life on the ground. Some of them are...moving? Oh wait, that's just Paras and Foongus down there. The twisted metal beams grow further and further apart too such that it's more reasonable to travel by foot once you climb down one of these highway sections.
  861. The most prominent landmark you can see is the metal frame of an old building, with concrete still wrapped around some of the support beams. It looks like whoever engineered this building cut fewer corners than the others - or maybe luck and time were just kinder to it.
  862. Tah dah, revealed another square on Roll20.
  863. Even further east, it looks like there's just a clear path. The asphalt has all pretty much been torn up by the ravages of time, and white flowers are poking up from the cracks, giving the impression of a soft white road leading into the distance. The trees grow denser again though the further east you look, and it's hard to see what lies beyond that.
  864.
  865.
  866. [09-Sep-18 09:54 PM] Lugh
  867. Lugh takes some notes on the architecture of the more enduring building, hoping to apply these techniques on his own construction someday.
  868.
  869.
  870. [09-Sep-18 09:55 PM] GM (castella)
  871. But you're probably more concerned with the north for now. The path is dense with both tangled plant life and the metal remains of the city, but it looks _feasibly_ traversible.
  872.
  873.
  874. [09-Sep-18 09:56 PM] Vasko
  875. "Make a note of the location, too, Lugh. We should investigate this place further when we have the chance. There could be something left...But right now, we need to find that Pokemon!"
  876.
  877.
  878. [09-Sep-18 09:56 PM] Rosalie
  879. Anymore hopping to be done or is it City Escape labyrinth time?
  880.
  881.
  882. [09-Sep-18 09:56 PM] GM (castella)
  883. No more hopping!
  884.
  885.
  886. [09-Sep-18 09:56 PM] Lugh
  887. "Mm, good point." _more notes_
  888. He claps his book shut again. "Shall we continue to the north then?"
  889.
  890.
  891. [09-Sep-18 09:57 PM] GM (castella)
  892. The Mawiles and Mime Jr have caught up to you by this point too. The Mime Jr seems a little sullen to be relying on _humans_, but the Mawiles are chattering away excitedly like kids on a field trip.
  893.
  894.
  895. [09-Sep-18 09:57 PM] Rosalie
  896. Rosalie makes her way...was this down past the mushroom friends and on to the north? Is that how we do that?
  897.
  898.
  899. [09-Sep-18 09:57 PM] GM (castella)
  900. Yup.
  901.
  902.
  903. [09-Sep-18 09:58 PM] Rosalie
  904. Then that is what is done!
  905.
  906.
  907. [09-Sep-18 09:58 PM] GM (castella)
  908. The mushroom Pokemon give you a wide berth, as long as you aren't stepping on and ruining their little farms. They seem to be color-coding the mushroom patches they're growing...or maybe it just ends up that way on accident since they're growing different species and keeping them separate.
  909. As you pass by the still-standing metal frame of a building, you all see a flicker of movement. There's something human-sized, well, maybe the size of a small person? that just ducked behind a pillar.
  910.
  911.
  912. [09-Sep-18 10:00 PM] Rosalie
  913. She blinks and cups her hands to her mouth. "Hello, whoever or whatever just ducked behind a pillar! We mean you no harm and are just on our way to rescue a friend who may have accidentally been kidnapped during a robbery!"
  914.
  915.
  916. [09-Sep-18 10:00 PM] Lugh
  917. As they pass the mushroom friends, Lugh crouches down to inspect their work. "Hm, you seem good at this. Would you like to apply your skills to a different assortment of fungi?"
  918.
  919.
  920. [09-Sep-18 10:00 PM] GM (castella)
  921. Rosalie, you neither hear nor see any response!
  922.
  923.
  924. [09-Sep-18 10:01 PM] Yuu
  925. "Maybe they're shy?"
  926.
  927.
  928. [09-Sep-18 10:01 PM] Lugh
  929. He offers the Foongus a ball, but quickly moves on if it isn't interested. He catches up to the others.
  930.
  931.
  932. [09-Sep-18 10:01 PM] Rosalie
  933. "Perhaps, but time is of the essence!" She continues on her way, keeping an eye out for any other darting shy sorts.
  934.
  935.
  936. [09-Sep-18 10:02 PM] Vasko
  937. Vasko joins Lugh, "Interesting..." He pays closer attention to the Foongus, "This could make for good medicine, if you'd like to come along. You could really help a lot of people out, what do you say?"
  938.
  939.
  940. [09-Sep-18 10:02 PM] GM (castella)
  941. Lugh, the Foongus at your feet don't seem very interested and turn back to their work after you say your bit. You hear scuttling though, and if you knew more of pre-fall culture you'd practically hear the Initial D soundtrack in your head as you see a Paras racing through the mushroom fields, swerving wildly as it makes turns to avoid the farm patches, to skid right up in front of you. It raises both claws in a "pick me!" sort of way. You notice it has...lots of mushrooms on its back. Way too many of them. They're all different colors too.
  942.
  943.
  944. [09-Sep-18 10:03 PM] Lugh
  945. Lugh begins to sweat intensely as he sees his greatest fear. But then he notices all of the colorful mushrooms and gets lost inspecting them.
  946.
  947.
  948. [09-Sep-18 10:03 PM] GM (castella)
  949. Rosalie, as you proceed, you see another flash of motion from that direction out of the corner of your eye. But still nothing, or no one, steps out or says anything.
  950. The Paras turns around and does a little boogie, showing off all its mushrooms.
  951.
  952.
  953. [09-Sep-18 10:05 PM] Lugh
  954. "Uh, um, I s-suppose it would be g-good to study the fungal culture you've got growing on your b-back..." He looks at the ball in his hand hesitantly, and then holds it at ground level and shuts his eyes.
  955.
  956.
  957. [09-Sep-18 10:06 PM] GM (castella)
  958. The rest of you find that...well, this mess of thorns and metal actually looks a bit more intimidating up close. You could probably crawl under it, like soldiers navigating the trenches, but you'd still have to be careful to avoid being pricked by either thorns or rusty metal. Curse the long-term fragility of cheap 21st century construction methods!
  959. The Paras boops itself in after doing a little victory dance.
  960.
  961.
  962. [09-Sep-18 10:08 PM] Lugh
  963. Lugh nearly drops the ball as the Paras is sucked in. He looks at it as if he was holding a chunk of uranium and then offers it to Vasko. "Would you, uh, hold this? Just for now. I need a moment."
  964.
  965.
  966. [09-Sep-18 10:09 PM] Rosalie
  967. Rosalie sighs and, finding her direct path impeded, approaches where she saw the figure, keeping a sharp eye out.
  968.
  969.
  970. [09-Sep-18 10:09 PM] Vasko
  971. "Hm? Sure, I'd be happy to! That little bugger looked interesting."
  972.
  973.
  974. [09-Sep-18 10:09 PM] Yuu
  975. Yuu will crouch down to get a look under the metal and thorns. Could Nyx scout it out safely enough?
  976.
  977.
  978. [09-Sep-18 10:10 PM] GM (castella)
  979. Well, it's not completely impeded! You'd just have to approach slowly and carefully. Or rush through and accept getting a few scrapes here and there.
  980. Nyx could definitely manage that, yes!
  981. Give me a Subtle or Focused roll from Nyx if you wanna have that happen
  982.
  983.
  984. [09-Sep-18 10:11 PM] Yuu
  985. Yuu will get Nyx out, "Think you could look around for the best path?"

  995. Nyx floats off through the sharp and pointy maze, avoiding danger as only ghosts can. Meanwhile, Rosalie, you see another flicker of motion as whatever's there retreats a bit further into the skeleton of the building, hiding behind a pile of rubble.
  996. Yuu, Nyx reappears at your side a minute later, having left a wispy purple trail along the easiest and safest path through mess of metal and thorns.
  997.
  998.
  999. [09-Sep-18 10:14 PM] Rosalie
1000. Rosalie calls out gently to their shy friend while waiting on Yuu and Nyx to investigate. "Sorry if we've startled you, we mean no harm. We're just trying to cut a quick path through because we're worried about our friend. Could you help at all?" She takes a few tentative steps towards the rubble.
  1001.
  1002.
  1003. [09-Sep-18 10:16 PM] Lugh
1004. Lugh sighs with relief as Vasko relieves him of the object of his terror. He then scoots towards Rosalie. "Uh, who are you yelling at?"
  1005.
  1006.
  1007. [09-Sep-18 10:17 PM] Vasko
1008. "Not talking to yourself, are you?"

  1010.
  1011. [09-Sep-18 10:17 PM] GM (castella)
1012. "You're persistent...I thought you were in a rush." A voice calls out as someone steps out from behind the rubble. A person in a hoodie with piercing red eyes looks at you and tussles their own hair a bit. They're...short and look like maybe a teenager at most.

  1024. [09-Sep-18 10:17 PM] Yuu
1025. "Looks like we have a path through." Yuu will... pet Nyx? Turning abruptly at the new voice. "Uh, hello."
  1026.
  1027.
  1028. [09-Sep-18 10:17 PM] Rosalie
1029. She blinks! "Well now, that's a surprise!"
  1030.
  1031.
  1032. [09-Sep-18 10:18 PM] Lugh
1033. Lugh takes a surprised step backward, not used to seeing someone else with red eyes.
  1034.
  1035.
  1036. [09-Sep-18 10:18 PM] GM (castella)
1037. "Well, your friend says you have a path through. Don't need my help anymore, right?"
  1038.
  1039.
  1040. [09-Sep-18 10:18 PM] Vasko
1041. "Ho.. My, there certainly are a lot of young kids around nowadays."
  1042.
  1043.
  1044. [09-Sep-18 10:18 PM] GM (castella)
1045. "Sorry, I don't mean to come off as rude. I just...don't handle people very well." They kinda inch toward a support beam and slide behind it, half hidden.
  1046.
  1047.
  1048. [09-Sep-18 10:19 PM] Lugh
  1049. "Do you just...live here?"
1050. Lugh inches behind Rosalie in a similar manner as the stranger.
  1051.
  1052.
  1053. [09-Sep-18 10:20 PM] GM (castella)
1054. They glare at Vasko at the remark. "Yeah, that's about what I expected from strangers. I'm just a kid, huh?"
  1055.
  1056.
  1057. [09-Sep-18 10:20 PM] Rosalie
1058. "Oh we would still absolutely appreciate it if you felt so inclined, and we would be interested in being social with you! But alas, yes, we have little time I'm afraid." She bows low before the stranger.
  1059.
  1060.
  1061. [09-Sep-18 10:20 PM] Yuu
1062. "Uh, any help you could offer would be appreciated. Let's not start off on the wrong foot."
  1063.
  1064.
  1065. [09-Sep-18 10:21 PM] Rosalie
1066. "Don't mind the big oaf, he's smarter than his tongue!"
  1067.
  1068.
  1069. [09-Sep-18 10:21 PM] GM (castella)
1070. "I do live here. And there. And elsewhere too."
  1071.
  1072.
  1073. [09-Sep-18 10:22 PM] Vasko
1074. "Hahaha! Yes, I didn't mean to offend you. Age is only age, it says nothing about your capabilities! It's not as though I'm an old man myself."
  1075.
  1076.
  1077. [09-Sep-18 10:23 PM] Lugh
1078. "Do you know anything about the Scizor that lives around here?"
  1079.
  1080.
  1081. [09-Sep-18 10:24 PM] Rosalie
1082. "We've a town past the forest to the south, which we've taken to calling the Duskwood, and we'll be back in the area soon I'm sure should you prefer not to join us now. My name is Rosalie!"
  1083.
  1084.
  1085. [09-Sep-18 10:26 PM] GM (castella)
1086. "Oh? Well, your offer is kind, but I quite like it here. Alone. Call me Synapse, if you need to call me something." The look on their face says there's something they find _very interesting_ about what you said though.
  1087.
  1088.
  1089. [09-Sep-18 10:28 PM] Rosalie
1090. "Understandable! Now if you'll excuse me..." Rosalie ducks off to trace the path Nyx marked.
  1091.
  1092.
  1093. [09-Sep-18 10:29 PM] Vasko
1094. "Well, suit yourself! If you should ever find the thorns and rusted ruins too unsociable, you know where to find us. I can think of one who'd talk your ear off if given the chance."
  1095.
  1096.
  1097. [09-Sep-18 10:29 PM] Yuu
1098. "I'm Yuu... it was, uh, nice to meet you?" Yuu shrugs and glancing around the area again will follow along the path as well.
  1099.
  1100.
  1101. [09-Sep-18 10:29 PM] Lugh
1102. Lugh looks at his red-eyed twin with slight suspicion before following the others along the path.
  1103.
  1104.
  1105. [09-Sep-18 10:30 PM] GM (castella)
1106. "That only makes it sound worse." Synapse says to Vasko. "Good luck with finding your friend. Dunno why General Snippers would have taken them, but..." They shrug.
  1107.
  1108.
  1109. [09-Sep-18 10:32 PM] Vasko
1110. "...General Snippers? My, you sure have a way with names, don't you?"
  1111.
  1112.
  1113. [09-Sep-18 10:32 PM] Lugh
1114. Lugh writes that name down.
  1115.
  1116.
  1117. [09-Sep-18 10:32 PM] GM (castella)
1118. Rosalie, with the trail there, it's easy enough to crawl your way between the piles of metal and the thornier vines growing in the area. It takes what feels like an eternity to get through, but you finally emerge right in front of the old stone building that you saw the Scizor enter. There are no signs of it, but a group of Spearow and Pikachu are gathered outside.
  1119.
  1120.
  1121. [09-Sep-18 10:34 PM] Rosalie
1122. She seems lost in contemplation as she maneuvers through, clearly torn about just leaving this person, but between the time factor and the person clearly not being particularly interested in their company, there wasn't much choice! She looks over the pokemon she chances upon. "Oh, hello. Is the red bug robot in?"
1123. She mimics clamping the air with her hands.

1127. The Pikachu and Spearow immediately tense up when they notice you. They gather around the building defensively and look ready to attack!

  1129.

  1149.
  1150.
  1151. [09-Sep-18 10:36 PM] Rosalie
1152. She bows low before them, literally all the way to the ground. "We mean no harm! We're trying to find a lost friend!"
  1153.
  1154.

1169. No Soclalite bonus here. The Spearow appear to back down from attacking you immediately, but they're still watching you closely.
  1170.
  1171.
  1172. [09-Sep-18 10:41 PM] Rosalie
1173. She huffs, taking a moment to visibly relax as she thinks about how to approach this. "Thank you for your patience! If this is your turf, we aren't trying to intrude. We'd just like to get in, find our friend, and get out. Would that be okay?"
  1174.
  1175.
  1176. [09-Sep-18 10:43 PM] GM (castella)
1177. The Spearow shakes its head. It calls out to one of the Pikachu, which darts inside the building. You hear some chattering sounds inside, then the sounds of a scuffle!
1178. A Mawile runs out a a gaping hole in the side of the building, clutching something tightly. The Pikachu is behind it in pursuit, looking intent on bringing back whatever it is it's holding. It's hard to see from here, but it's...some sort of machine? You think?
  1179.
  1180.
  1181. [09-Sep-18 10:44 PM] Lugh
1182. "Oh that can't be good."
  1183.
  1184.
  1185. [09-Sep-18 10:46 PM] Rosalie
1186. She quickly holds up a small, fractured dawn stone to the Spearow, its soft glow shedding from her hand. "Waitwait, a trade please! We would trade for what the Mawile holds!"
  1187.
  1188.
  1189. [09-Sep-18 10:47 PM] GM (castella)
1190. One of the Spearows caws at you, then motions at the Pikachu. The Pikachu makes some gestures and then lets loose a tiny spark of electricity - it seems like it's trying to say they're only interested in electrically powered things. Meanwhile, another Spearow lands in front of the Mawile, intent on stopping its path.
1191. You can hear sounds coming from the machine the Mawile is holding. From where you are, it's difficult to make out, but it sounds like...a voice?
  1192.
  1193.
  1194. [09-Sep-18 10:48 PM] Rosalie
1195. Rosalie turns towards her allies. "A-Anyone got anything mechanical-ish they can trade before this gets brutal?"
  1196.
  1197.
  1198. [09-Sep-18 10:49 PM] Vasko
1199. Vasko tries to dart past the Mawile, between it and the Spearow, before yelling at the bird and waving it away, "Oi! Slow down there, little one. You can't be harassing others like this." He glances back at the Mawile, "You'll be alright, no worries. But I bet you weren't even scared of this little thing, were you?"
  1200.
  1201.
  1202. [09-Sep-18 10:51 PM] GM (castella)

  1225. [09-Sep-18 10:52 PM] Lugh
1226. Lugh shakes his head at Rosalie. "Nothing that uses power, we barely have that working at home!"
  1227.
  1228.
  1229. [09-Sep-18 10:54 PM] Rosalie
1230. "Well...alright then." She wraps a hand around Eduardo's pokeball and a mischievous smirk crosses her face. "Well friends, I do have something that uses electricity afterall!" She tosses out the Aloladude who immediately pounds one fist against the other and crackles with electricity. "Eduardo, show our friends they have just made some unfortunate decisions!"

1702. The Scizor you saw from before touches down in front of the building with a shocked expression on its face. It scratches its head with one pincer in a "what the fuck is this" way as it looks to all of you, looks to the KO'd Spearows and Pikachu, and looks to the Mawile and Pikachu wrestling over an electronic part. 1749. General Snippers gives y'all an understanding nod, then clicks his clickers VERY LOUDLY! The birds and mice stop fighting immediately. The Scizor stomps over to the Mawile and looks down at it. The Mawile clutches its prize to its chest and sticks out a tongue. General Snippers sighs - or makes the same motion as someone who would be sighing - and walks back into the building.
  1750.
  1751.
  1752. [09-Sep-18 11:31 PM] Rosalie
1753. "Oh!" She claps excitedly. Eduardo seems disappointed. He was absolutely ready to just wreck some chumps.

1757. The bug returns a minute later with the metal box from before and dumps out the contents. There are a lot of batteries and power supplies here! He tosses them out willy nilly and clicks irately as if to say "there are SO MANY of them jfc". He zips over to the Pikachu wrestling with the Mawile and waves two big batteries in its face, then drops them in its lap.
1758. Nevermind that he just sorta stole the box from the Fairies in the first place...

  1776.
  1777.
  1778. [09-Sep-18 11:33 PM] Lugh
1779. Lugh perks up even more. "Oh, sure! They don't power plants directly very well...not without a lot of _science_. But you can use them for other things that help plants grow."
  1780.
  1781.
  1782. [09-Sep-18 11:33 PM] GM (castella)
1783. The Scizor looks over at you and then points down at the batteries like duh it was looking for some of those and then it found them so yeah. The Pikachus look like they're enjoying recharging themselves off of them now
1784. General Snippers just shakes his head like a disappointed parent.
  1785.
  1786.
  1787. [09-Sep-18 11:34 PM] Rosalie
1788. "Ooh! I get it now!"
1789. Rosalie looks like she's ready to squeal as she figures out the dynamic between the strange bug monster and the adorable delinquents.
  1790.
  1791.
  1792. [09-Sep-18 11:35 PM] Yuu
1793. "So I guess we're all set here then. Thanks for being so reasonable about it? Hopefully no more accidental abductions in the future so there's no repeats?"
  1794.
  1795.
  1796. [09-Sep-18 11:36 PM] GM (castella)
1797. The Mime Jr quietly squeaks from behind you. Probably like something something that was our box something something. General Snippers tosses a few of the batteries its way and also hands some to whoever of you is nearest.
  1798.
  1799.
  1800. [09-Sep-18 11:36 PM] Lugh
  1801. Lugh snatches them eagerly.

  1805. [09-Sep-18 11:36 PM] Rosalie
1806. She gives a reassuring pat to the Mawile. "What is it you found anyways?"

  1817. [09-Sep-18 11:39 PM] Vasko
1818. Vasko winces, "You okay there, kiddo? Here, wrap that up." He hands Lugh some gauze, "Be more careful!" He glances down at the fallen Spearow, "Still, Snippers, you sure raised some rowdy roughhousers, didn't you? This one was all too eager to get in my face."

1832. He gets down on his hands and knees to look at it, wiping his open cut in the dirt in the process. "Woah..."
  1833.
  1834.
  1835. [09-Sep-18 11:41 PM] GM (castella)
1836. "Power levels critical. Please recharge. Power levels critical. Please recharge. Power levels critical..." It begins to repeat in a synthetic voice. "Oh. Walter, you've returned! Wait, facial recognition error. My apologi-" it's cut off as the glow fades.

  1839. [09-Sep-18 11:42 PM] Vasko
1840. "What indeed! Put that on, you're--agh...curiosity before common sense... Well, it *is* interesting, whatever it is..."
  1841.
  1842.
  1843. [09-Sep-18 11:43 PM] Yuu
1844. "Huh, how odd. Well, we have some batteries now so maybe we can recharge it? Would be interesting to see what it is."
  1845.
  1846.
  1847. [09-Sep-18 11:43 PM] Rosalie
1848. Rosalie addresses the Mawile. "I know you fought so hard for it, but would it be possible to come to some terms that we can take it with us to study?"
  1849.
  1850.
  1851. [09-Sep-18 11:43 PM] GM (castella)
1852. General Snippers has woken up the KO'd birds and mice in the meantime and has gathered them for a lecture on violence and why it is bad.
1853. The Mawile hugs it tightly.
  1854. Robot buddy!

1862. "Or perhaps they can come with us as well?"
  1863. "Yes, that one."
1864. Lugh inspects the device to figure out if it even takes batteries.
  1865.
  1866.

  1874.
  1875. [09-Sep-18 11:45 PM] GM (castella)
1876. Lugh, it doesn't look like it takes external batteries of any sort. You'd have to hook up some sort of cable to charge it.
1877. The Mawile nods its assent to these terms!
  1878.
  1879.
  1880. [09-Sep-18 11:45 PM] Rosalie
  1881. "Lots of food!"
  1882.
  1883.
  1884. [09-Sep-18 11:46 PM] Lugh
1885. "Hrm. Looks like I'll have to rig something up back home. Maybe I can adapt the work I've been doing for that other strange device that was brought home..."
  1886.
  1887.
  1888. [09-Sep-18 11:47 PM] Rosalie
1889. "Hmmm...Lugh are you going to be careful with it on the trip home, or should one of us carry it so you don't vibrate so much from the anticipation that it manages to fall apart entirely~?" She shoots him a wink as she teases him.
  1890.
  1891.
  1892. [09-Sep-18 11:49 PM] Lugh
1893. Lugh blushes slightly and picks both the Mawile and the device up defensively. "I-I'll be careful!"
  1894.
  1895.
  1896. [09-Sep-18 11:49 PM] Vasko
1897. "Ha! That's a big mouth to feed, isn't it? Well, that's more work for us, Lugh, but that's fine! I welcome it. I've been wanting to grow more vegetables, anyway."
  1898.
  1899.
  1900. [09-Sep-18 11:50 PM] Rosalie
1901. "So easy to fluster. Just like your cousin!"
  1902.
  1903.
  1904. [09-Sep-18 11:50 PM] Lugh
1905. "Yeah! Perhaps we can experiment with some new mushrooms too."
  1906.
  1907.

  1911.
  1912. [09-Sep-18 11:50 PM] Lugh
1913. "Isn't one boyfriend enough..." Lugh pouts.
  1914.
  1915.
  1916. [09-Sep-18 11:50 PM] Rosalie

  1918.
  1919.
  1920. [09-Sep-18 11:51 PM] Lugh
1921. Lugh may or may not think boyfriend mostly means someone to bully.
1922. Based on the evidence he has observed.

  1925. [09-Sep-18 11:51 PM] Vasko

1954. Yuu, the Mawile taps the ball and gets zwooped up! But then it pops out of the ball for at least the trip home so it can continue hugging its robo buddy prize.
