  1. Being a vampire is much more than just a blood-sucking fiend that has been let loose on a crowd of innocents. It is an ascension of being, a transformation into a terrifyingly powerful predator who no longer knows the bounds of time. And yet it is also a descent of the mind; every waking moment, every bit of contact or interaction with another is puppeteered by a single, domineering thought. That one necessity that is a constant reminder of the separation that exists between you and the rest of the world. So for Maxir, the boy who has never known his place in the world, the boy that strives for acceptance and a place to call home, he has no choice but to react immediately with denial. The torturous curse that is vampirism will be emphasised throughout the early stages of Maxir's transformation, so much so that he will struggle to reap any of the supposed "benefits" that the supernatural gift can offer. Maxir's appetite for blood will be marginally sated only through what his fragile mortal mind can overlook - from vermin to wild dogs, the lack of adequate nourishment will see Maxir suffer the vampiric weaknesses twice as much as any other vampire. But even as some of the perks may slowly start to settle in, Maxir will find himself unable to truly grasp their capability; his hypersensitivity to light and sound will be a dangerous cocktail for his already volatile nature that his human nature carried. For Maxir, this will feel like the beginning of the end.

  3. But the predator is a formidable creature, and soon develops a voice of its own within Maxir. Whether through Maxir's endless desire to integrate and find a place of belonging, or through the vampire's growing hunger, the two will begin to achieve somewhat of a harmony. He will force himself to normalise his new behaviour as an attempt to find cohesion with other humans around him, growing more fond of the idea of human blood. Eventually, Maxir will refine his appetite for blood so much that he will eventually only gain adequate nourishment from a specific type of blood (e.g certain gender or age groups), and then he will find a state of complete acceptance of the predator within. His vampiric Kiss becomes nothing but pure ecstasy on every occasion, and now the hunt has become more than just habit - the thrill is all consuming. But somewhere deep within is young Maxir, aware of what is happening to him, and a growing anxiety drives him closer to the edge each time he fails to rein in his predatory habits.
