- As an advocate of equal treatment, I do not condone the act of punishing everyone based on the act of one person.
- I'm aware that a lot of really fucking stupid people exist no matter where you go.
- And a lot of them did dumb things,
- and a lot of precautions exist today to prevent those things from happening.
- Objectively, however, restricting anything based on distraction is something that shouldn't affect the alleged offender -- it should apply to the person being distracted, if it's that much of a problem at all. No one thinks twice in the real world if someone has an unusual hair color or a piercing, so saying that "only natural colors or features" is an unrealistic circumstance.
- Last I checked, all colors occur naturally.
- Last I checked, self-infliction is an art form that goes back thousands of years, beginning with cultures that we're taught from youth to oppress (i'm not kidding; everyone here is racist.) and extending now as a hatred of the occult because people are afraid to see anything without their eyes.
- This isn't a problem that happens in places with larger student bodies;
- The vast majority of my friends are foreign or in other places in the US.
- They wholeheartedly attest to that truth.
- It's not that it bothers me. I'm fine with just having dark hair!
- Or no piercings, or no sort of voice.
- The reason I never talk is because no one fucking listens.
- But the fact it's a problem at all here, in a small, redneck, backwater town.
- Everyone's afraid to enter this goddamn century because they're afraid of losing an image that, frankly, /NO ONE/ from Oxford sees. Ask around!
- The only people who validate those sentiments are the ones who:
- 1: The parents whose children are actively involved in sports.
- 2: The parents or adults who hold a staff position in our school system. (Notice how they're inherently one in the same.)
- 3: People who strictly (hypocritically) affiliate with everything right-wing, be it out of fear or reluctance to shift from the status quo (or both.)
- As a result, I have to ask one question:
- why the fuck is our school board not elected?
- Oxford High isn't a private school. It needs to stop acting like one.
- btw "freshman academy" is the most backward motherfucking educational prospect anyone's ever had. The point of high school is to GROW THE FUCK UP.
- Amazing how everyone heading one is afraid to let that happen.
