  1. Well, here comes Owl
  2.
  3. The 1st
  4. The Third Legion ever created, the 1st is currently the only legion that still exists from the founding the Empire, the 1st was formed primarily around the First Necromancer, Claudius. Though its creation primarily as direct bodyguards to the First, as the Empire has expanded, its role transitioned as the primary legion to handle opposing Magical forces and Spirits. In peace time, the 1st acts as curators, removing foreign magicks and unruly spirits from the Empire’s landscape.
  5.
  6. Mascot: Owl
  7. Patron Deity: Silence – As the God of Death once revealed the truth of death to Claudius, he continues to guide Death’s Legion through Claudius’s descendants and clam emptiness of death, always reaching for its inevitable return to the life given by the Aether of the stars.
  8.
  9. House Claudius (Nec) – With a direct line to the first necromancer, House Claudius are the forefront of their legion, and practically run the entire Legion. They are most in tune with the light beyond of Aether, and are all around the best Necromancers.
  10. The Order of the Eye (Leg) – The Elite legion of the 1st, the order of the eye is initiated to open their eyes to the other side. Trained explicitly to handle enemy magicians, with their eyes forcibly opened, they can handle mystic and bizarre Ghosts, Spirits, and magicks better than any other Legionnaire. In addition, they can bring some of this spiritual sight to bear in other situations.
  11. Death Speakers (Aux) – The Dead and the Living have an interesting relationship in the Rhomanium Empire, and the Death Speakers of the 1st are the primary go betweens in the Empire. No other group better understands how to speak to Ghosts and properly bring out their natures. This of course includes their relationship with the still living.
  12. Liminal Wardens (Spec) – Not all ghosts and spirits behave themselves and it Man's duty to police them. To punish Ghostly criminals and to put foolish spirits that dare defy Man's supremacy. It is the Liminal Wardens duty to hunt down rogue spirits, and reduce chaos within the Empire, and outside of it.
  13.
  14. Done with Raven
  15.
  16. The 2nd
  17. Though technically not a founding legion, the 2nd appeared within the first 50 years of the Empire’s existence. The Legion was formed primarily for Siege Warfare, and came about to break down the walls of the Empire’s first major foes. Since its inception, the Legion has become the primary mind trust of all the Empire’s advances in engineering, and is constantly looking towards the future.
  18.
  19. Mascot: Raven
  20. Patron Deity: Inspiration – The god of invention lives and breathes through the 2nd legion. His words are inscribed on the entrance of the College of Engineering, and begin each book stored in the CEC’s headquarters.
  21.
  22. Corvid Engineer Corps (Aux) – The Pride of the Empire's college of Engineering, the Corvid Engineer Corps. Creators of most of the Empire's clever inventions, they keep the best for themselves, with the greatest being obviously their Automata. However, they have a variety of other machinations available to them.
  23. House Tempestpuer (Nec) – The smartest disciple of Claudius, Tempestpuer had a tendency to mix together bizarre substances from ectoplasm and other unearthly sources. This has led to their famous Phantom Flame solution, along with other terrifying unguents.
  24. Phantom Torches (Spec) – Few of these specialty shock troops leave training without going slightly mad. Professionally trained to use the Phantom Flame in close quarters, the Torch unit uses a hand siphon to spray liquid flame and whip ceramic grenades filled with the concoction at their foes. They are generally uncomfortably pleasant.
  25. Masked Sentinels (Leg) – Easily the best equipped elite Legion in the empire, the Sentinels are best known for their full body armor, and are easily the heaviest soldiers in the Empire. Specially designed by the Engineer Corps, the Sentinels are the Greatest Heavy Infantry in the empire.
  26.
  27. Mongoose time!
  28.
  29. 3rd
  30. The Crisis of the 1st century of the Empire’s life led to the creation of the 3rd legion. The second Empire brought together all of the disparate organizations and people that actively fought the Shadow, and formed them into the Legion of the Mongoose, in order to ferret out the Serpents that exist hidden in the Empire.
  31.
  32. Mascot: Mongoose
  33. Patron Deity: Fidelity – Constantly tempted, it was not Fidelity that turned to the 3rd, but the 3rd that turned to her. The Legion of the Mongoose is populated by those most desperate to fight against the shadow and to support the Empire against, what they perceive to be, and the one true enemy.
  34.
  35. Shadow Hunters (Leg) – Easily the most adaptable Legion, these Legionaries are well equipped to move through the citizenry and hunt down the creatures of the Shadow. Tearing through buildings, investigating citizens, and leaping over tall structures, the Hunters are trained to move and think quickly.
  36. House Alexandria (Nec) – Claudius's most vigilant student, Alexandria was a poor orphaned child that lost everything to the monsters of the Shadow. Those of this house are trained to wield the forces of death to directly find and tear apart Shadow beings with extreme prejudice.
  37. Wise Fools (Aux) – Though acting as the Legions diplomatic unit, the Fools' true purpose is to keep the public and outsiders as educated on the Shadow creatures as possible. This eventually transitioned to general education, and it's very likely that every young child in the Empire's first teacher outside of their parents was one of this unit.
  38. Smiling Strangers (Spec) – While the Hunters are brought in units, the Strangers generally move in pairs or smaller groups. They are the forwards, investigators, and most trained to handle the monstrosities of the Shadow alone. They do everything in their power to just seem like a friendly stranger here to help. The less they give themselves away, the easier it is to finish off an unsuspecting Shadow creature hiding in the populace.

  40.
  41. 4th/Lion is ready to rock
  42.
  43. Brought together right after the end of the 1st century to replace the former 2nd legion (Falcon) once the first capitol was destroyed. No longer attached to a specific city, the Legion of the Lion is attached to the Senate primarily, and focuses as the primary Legion and arm of their might. They are the true honor guard of the Empire.
  44.
  45. Mascot: Lion
  46. Patron Deity: Glory – The primary driving force behind the 4th is Pride. Pride in the Empire’s Legacy, Pride in the Empire’s may, and Pride in the Empire’s raw passion. The 4th practice Glory’s teachings every day, espousing the glory of Rhomanium.
  47.
  48. Voice of the Senate (Aux) – The head of the 4th, the Voice of the Senate is the primary diplomatic arm of the legions and of course, the Senate. They have a high minded sense of duty, and are best trained in pure diplomatic matters
  49. The Golden Legion (Leg) – Though the other Legions deride them as being too soft, the Golden Legion are as well trained as the other elite units. Their focus is to protect the Voice primarily, and this training has led them to be the best Bodyguards in the empire, and their focus on protection and dealing with any threat to their wards is unparalleled.
  50. House Luctuosa (Nec) – The most inspired of Claudius's students, Luctuosa are the ones that primarily fund their house through their primary focus and love: theater. With a flair for the dramatic, each Necromancer is a trained stage manager and thespian. And when they don't have an actor for a role, they can always find one on the other side.
  51. Children of the Road (Spec) – The messengers and, strangely, elite mailmen of the 4th, and quite possibly any legion. Trained to walk the roads and handle bandits and all dangers, the Children are very commonly lower class, and have commonly traveled with other legions. They are the best liked of the 4th as far as the other Legions are concerned.
  52.
  53. 5th is go
  54. As the Empire grew in their second century, they began looking across the sea. The Legion of the Horse was formed to move the Empire’s forces around initially, but the Navy became its own force after a short while. As the sea changed from being the primary front, the Legion shifted also to mercantile endeavors, but it is still a key force in the Empire’s arsenal.
  55.
  56. Mascot: Horse
  57. Patron Deity: Mighty and Merciless Sea – The last living Goddess in the Empire, the lady of fear has led this legion to being the most religious of the legions. The Lady will protect her own, but she is never kind.
  58.
  59. Fear's Legion (Leg) – The Elite Naval Legion, the 5th Elite Legion is used to hardship and sea faring. Despite the Legion being well funded, they have a very beaten appearance, as the Sea's favored troops receive no kindness from her. They have pulled off some of the most miraculous and impossible victories in the Empire's history.
  60. Coin Merchants (Aux) – A coalition that is the merchant force of the Empire, they manage most of the empire's trade routes and, much to the populace's displeasure, the tax collecting. That said, no one knows product like them.
  61. Stallion Legion (Spec) – Not as much a Legion as an elite Archer Unit, trained to pull of miraculous feats of archery. The most loaned out unit of the 5th, the Stallions are well known for their prowess. It is said they strike a bee out of the sky on a clear day.
  62. House Furore (Nec) – The most militant of Claudius's students, Furore had a vendetta against a nation across the sea...one that no longer exists. The best trained battle Necromancers in the empire, most of House Furore know how to take a punch, and shred people with the very blood in their veins.
  63.
  64. 6th
  65. During the 3rd Century, the former 1st Legion (Bear) betrayed the Empire, and attempted to shatter the Empire from within. A variety of Legionnaires working with, at that time, the unassociated House Gelidus, at a frontier outpost managed to stall the Bear’s advance until the other Legions arrived to end the treason. As a reward, the 6th was forged from those two groups to replace the Bear as the primary Military force of the Empire
  66.
  67. Mascot: Wolf
  68. Patron Deity: Justice – As the legion formed, the Paragons formed within it, and forged the rule of Military Laws in wake of the Bear’s betrayal. All Legions must follow these rules as per the Emperor’s decree. Justice’s will is exercised through the Wolf’s actions.
  69.
  70. Hounds of the Empire (Leg) – When one thinks of a true Legionnaire, they think of the Hounds. The Hounds have no fancy shtick or tricks; they do not need them. They have mastered the art of the soldier, and there is no force that will surprise them or make them waver.
  71. Paragons (Aux) – The Paragons are those that follow the Wolf legion, and acts as the legal arm of the Legions. They do everything in the power to remain impartial, but given they are a branch of the 6th; they tend to err in their favor. They also have the right to enforce the laws of the empire wherever they go.
  72. House Gelidus (Nec) – The most introspective of Claudius's students, Gelidus joined the 6th without a word. Given the Wolf's primary focus is the Legion; this focuses all their abilities in the learning, comprehension of their situation and their foes. This has led them to be the primary tacticians of the 6th.
  73. Blooded Ones (Spec) – A somewhat over-dramatic name for Combat Medics, the Blooded are the Empire's foremost doctors and surgeons, and in peace time is the 6th 's primary “export” to the empire. They tend to be dour, but are proud of their work and do everything in their power to support their legion.
  74.
  75. 7th
  76.
  77. The Legion formed as the Empire’s size started becoming a detriment, soon after the formation of the Wolf. The Legion has expanded as the Empire’s first response to invading a new territory or to respond to outside threats.
  78.
  79. Mascot: Eagle
  80. Patron Deity: Shadow – Deception is key to warfare, and the 7th understands that better than anyone. Following Shadow’s guidance, the Eagle finds no flaw in fooling their foes and working to use their mobility and intellect to outpace and out think their foes.
  81.
  82. Outriders (Spec) – Strangely the heart of the 7th, the Outriders are the Empire's premiere Calvary unit. Trained to flank the Eagle's main force, and control the flow of the enemy. They do have some heavy Calvary units though they are forming, but they are rather new given only the recent access to more powerful horses.
  83. Wind Runners (Leg) – While the Shadow Hunters are also trained for mobility, no other Legion epitomizes Light Infantry like the Wind Runners. Trained to move quickly in inhospitable environments, the Wind Runners are hardy and used to poor equipment. They are the ones that meet the enemy first in all major operations
  84. World Keepers (Aux) – Explorers and Cartographers, these are the Diplomatic Unit trained to take the work of the 7th and make it actionable for the rest of the Legions. They map out cities, regions, and are trained to learn as much about enemy cultures as possible to exploit them. They are easily the most worldly and accepting diplomatic unit.
  85. House Rayiys (Nec) – The cleverest of Claudius's students, Rayiys was a foreign born magus from somewhere in the Burning Sands. Unlike other Necromancers, those of this house make use of their Founders original arts of using Ghostly Might to bind Elemental Spirits to their whim. If they are there, why simply destroy them? They can be useful for a time.
