Sustainable development and responsible use of resources.

The efficient usage of natural resources is a widely discussed topic nowadays. There are different views whether humans should or should not worry about environmental problems and its consequences. In my opinion, it is very important to pay attention to the use of natural resources, and humans can do it by recycling, using energy more efficiently and responsibly, consuming less.

First of all, one of the easiest but very efficient ways to utilize Earth’s resources is sustainable resource management. It is known that recycling resources reduces waste and decreases the size of our landfills, and it also is an easy way to reduce the need to use extra resources. Moreover, recycling improves air quality by reducing the demand for power. According to Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection, collecting, processing and shipping recycled materials to industrial users requires less energy than mining, refining, processing and shipping raw materials. It lowers the fossil fuel use, which contributes to less pollution in the atmosphere.

Another important factor is a responsible use of energy. According to IEA data from 1990 to 2008, the energy consumption in world overall grew by 39%. It is important to use fossil fuels as efficient as possible, because they are a nonrenewable resource. It is known that most vehicles run on a gasoline, which means that without fossil fuels the use of gas powered vehicles is impossible. Furthermore, humans would not be able to heat their homes and have no electricity, which is a form of energy that a modern world would not be imaginable without.

Thirdly, humans should lower their rate of consumption and focus more on conscious consumption. For example, instead of buying five cheap pair of shoes, buy two of high quality, which will last longer. Moreover, humans should buy products from companies that take environmental factors into consideration in their manufacturing. It is a good way to decrease waste, air pollution, and save trees, which will have a positive impact on human health and future of mankind, and save endangered species of animals.

To sum up, the responsible use of resources is an important factor in preserving planet Earth and taking care of future generations. Humans can achieve it by recycling more, using energy more efficiently and lowering their rate of consumption, which are three critical factors to ensure all humanity’s well-being and save our planet.
