Personality: Rin can be described as deceptively social because of spending most of his time in his shop and not having any real meaningful relationships with anyone outside of it (other then Marisa) while still having to maintain certain key socializing aspects to be a good salesman. Prefers quiet days on his own but will break out to do something wild if he finds it interesting enough. He's also a little slow and oblivious (but not nearly as much as Youmu,) picking up on jokes rather late but dishing out comments where he sees he can, even coming off as very charming and flirty at times, more then likely being a sales person helped him achieve this.

Backstory: Rinnosuke actually originally lived in the outside world, however he doesn't have much recollection of his life outside, now and again a vision or image flashes before his eyes about what his life used to be and his only comments are "Some stones are much safer left unturned" possible hinting more specifically at the type of work he used to do during his time outside. He used to work as an apprentice for Marisa's father at his store in the village, 11 years before Marisa was even born. However, his ability and interest in the outside wasn't being put to its best use with the human customers, in addition there was multiple disagreements between him and Marisa's father that, despite his gratitude for being taken in, lead to his decision to strike out on his own and create the shop we know now as Kourindou which proved to still not work out very well among yokai. Better but not great.
Because of his lack of business he has started doing various 'extermination' side jobs for humans and yokai alike that has led down a rabbit hole for him, leading him to really put his crafting and magic abilities to the test. Although these jobs are much more profitable he, most of the time, again, rather not talk about them because it reminds him of the fragments of memory he has left over from the outside world. Before opening his shop he created the Mini-Hakkero as a gift for Marisa when she cut ties with her family.

Abilities & Skills & Tools:

1.Knowing the name and utility of tools but not it's usages.
Allowing him to pick up any tool or artifact and already having the name and description known but not knowing how it actually works. However, because of him being rather stubborn and already having the key things to an item (name and what it's purpose is) in mind, he constantly attempts to learn what he can about it to be able to actually use it if it interests him enough, reading books of all types to find it's form of usage.

2.Creation of magic items.
Rinnosuke made the Mini-Hakkero when Marisa left her parents' home. Despite it's small size, it has extraordinary heating power, to the point of being able to reduce a mountain to ashes. It was made with various improvements and special qualities, ranging from being a cooler in the summer due to the wind blowing from its reactors to being an air purifier. Nobody knows to what extent he can tinker with things but it has lead to him taking adding features to Marisa's Mini-Hakkero and considering it a hobby. His more profitable job as an 'exterminator' has also lead to him creating and modifying various tools for his job including pistols, rifles, automatic weapons, morphing weapons (like enchanted gauntlets that can shift forms into a explosive launcher,) magic ammunition that can be used on youkai, traps ect. He claims that the image behind some of these weapons were designed from what he remembers using in the outside world...So when things like RPGs are added to his list of weapons he's made, one can only wonder. Sometimes he gets lucky and an old weapon falls from the outside world and through border, allowing him a base to work with and change.

3.Building structures, fortifications, and traps:
Running a shop taught him how to maintain, build, and fix things but his real knowledge came from preforming pest exterminations. learning how to lay down traps, build walls, ect through trial and error. His abilities are constantly tested when the smartest (and his most hated) vermin, rabbits, come into play.


4.Being able to use magic to make up for his lack of power being half human: Because of his closeness with Marisa and his avid researching, Rin has been able to aquire certain tricks and enhancements to help him out on a personal level when equipment is out of the question. Things like cloaking, equipment enchantments, and self healing after a rough encounter to name the primary, by no means is he a magician like Marisa but he knows enough to use certain things that are practical.

5.Speaking:
A lot of times because of his inability for true unaltered combat combat against very powerful beings he tends to try and use his words to settle situations, using a fight as a second resort against humans and yokai that trouble him. After all, the most powerful fighters are the ones that never have a need to use their fists (or guns.)

6.Basic martial arts
Being more of a hobby then anything, Rinnosuke knows different methods if keeping people away from his shop or getting them out, a key thing for a shop owner to know when your shop is located out of the way where help isn't at arms reach.

7. Enchanted pouches:
His pouches are deeper then they look, able to hold a healthy amount of equipment that otherwise he would need to hold onto by other methods.

Weapons and their details:

1. Kusanagi
A weapon found in a pile  of Marisa's junk one day.This sword was a legendary sword in Gensokyo with power so great it is said that there was a god living inside of it. As of right now it sits in Rin's pile of items that aren't for sale  and kept far away from Marisa in fear that she'll do something stupid with  it, and more importantly, kept away from any untrustworthy hands. It's always tempting to bring it out of hiding and use it's power for his own biding but the fear of something with such power being taken from his hands and into ones that intend to do nothing but evil keep his thoughts in line.


2.Magical artifacts he scavenges for
Rinnosuke finds plenty of mystical items that yield some sort of power to them, most of which ends up in his shop for sale or in his private collection and never ends up seeing the light of day. There might be some exceptions if he sees something that will keep him safe while scavenging, but, over all he doesn't go out of his way to use every single thing he finds. Which honestly makes him rival in clutter at times with Marisa.


3.Firearms of his creation: Rinnosuke has many enchanted and crafted guns that he uses depending on the situation, his main firearms being two pistols he has hidden away in pouches behind him, other weapons he might use can very between rifles, RPGs, shot guns, flash bangs, ect. As previously mentioned, it varies case by case (and RP.)

Relationships: Over all Kourin has a general knowledge of most important residents of Gensokyo because of his status as shop owner and "exterminator" but some more important relationships are as follows:

Marisa Kirisame: The girl who he raised after she left home and one of the main people to bring him various items for cheap.

Reimu Hakurei: He's lived long enough to know about the Hakurei Shrine and the generations of Hakurei who have come before, but this doesn't mean she isn't a nuisance to him still, occasional shop lifting is a no, no. However, because she is friends with Marisa he seems not to care all too much. It is said that he originally prepared Reimu's purification rod and shrine maiden clothing for her use even.

Yukari Yakumo: The two mostly have a business arrangement set up. In exchange for fuel for his kerosene fan heater, Yukari takes merchandise she likes and occasionally provides information on items. While he is grateful, Rinnosuke also doesn't like dealing with her all that much and makes note of how ominous she seems, although he does like some of the other deals the two has made and he seems quite fond of her pet blonde fox.

Sakuya Izayoi: Sakuya Izayoi is a customer who comes by the shop occasionally, mostly on the whims of her mistress, Remilia Scarlet. For one reason or another he has a strong distaste for her, putting on a happy face when she visits because it seems that the jobs and merchandise her mistress sends Sakuya to purchase are very high paying, but, his internal feelings for
Sakuya are strongly negative, going as far as to say, "I would rather have tea with a devil then it's slave."


Over all his romantic life is dead, having potential interest in some costumers that frequent his shop but over all, most residents in Gensokyo that he has his eyes on tend to not respond back in a positive way. Being lonely doesn't affect him too much, however this has led to him being lightly bitter at times.
