Agent Augustus Gibbons has selected an imprisoned former US Navy SEAL Darius Stone, a new agent in the XXX program, travels to Washington D.C., where they track a splinter faction of the U.S. military that attempts to overthrow the U.S. government and assassinate the President, led by Secretary of Defense and former 4-Star General George Deckert, Stone's former commanding officer whom he once led a mutiny against. But he's been targeted for assassination by a radical splinter group of dissenters deep within the United States government. The new XXX agent must uncover the insurgents from within. It is the nation's only hope to stop the first coup d'etat in American history.

It is not a clever or artistic film, but as an ott action flick it works really well! Films like this aren&#39;t meant to be realistic, they are just meant to be entertaining. Films and TV shows these days (take CSI for example) always seem to have far fetched and ridiculous technologies but its just part of keeping you watching... I mean the bit that everyone complains about with the hacking of the NSA computer, if we had to wait for the guy to hack it, it would really slow down the film, hence it being skipped over.<br/><br/>I like both of the XXX films and hope they make a third... explosions, gun fire, stunts, bad-guys, you name it they&#39;ve got it... I really think people should lighten up and take the films as they are intended.
This movie was stupid. The plot was nonexistent and the script was primitive and moronic. There is something seriously wrong with Samuel Jackson these days (Snakes on a Plane?). Why he agreed to do another &quot;xXx&quot;, I wouldn&#39;t know. Vin Diesel must be thanking god that he got out of this. I hope he realizes how lucky he is.<br/><br/>Ice Cube should never be able to be within 100 feet of a camera. He is one of the worst actors I have ever seen. He is a boorish oaf. We get that he likes the girls. No need to cram in unnecessary, crude innuendo. A 4-year old could have played his part better.<br/><br/>The key to watching this movie without getting angry is to not question the plot and only pay attention to the heavy explosions. So, if you decide to watch this movie, turn off your brain.
You'd half expect the Xbox logo to pop up on the credit roll for XXX: State of the Union, since what's on view is closer to a videogame than a movie. While that will be music to the ears of young gamers, it's noise to anyone hoping for a coherent action movie.
Similar to the situation with the prequel -- the British Board of Film Classification insisted on cuts for the BBFC-12 rating and therefore one scene had to be altered in order to obtain this rating.
