  1. It was raining outside, and what a time for it. Mariel stood outside in the doorway, waiting for the one she called to head outside and talk to her. She hadn’t been waiting too long, and she had a small bit of shelter in the entrance, so she managed to stay dry. It didn’t take long for the door to swing open though, with Hokaku now standing in the doorway.
  2. “You wanted to talk?” No suspicions at all. After all, in the recent times, he has really come to trust this woman that he had fallen in love with. He stood there though, dressed as well as always, a pristine white shirt worn under his pitch black blazer and tie.
  3.
  4. “Yes, let’s go on a walk. It’s a bit wet, but I hope you don’t mind~.” The tone was the same as ever, and drew him in close. Closing and locking the door behind him, the boss left into the rain, following his darling out into the fields of flowers. The Pokemon Village, the perfect place he could imagine spending time with the one he loved. They walked for a while without talking, Hokaku’s hands held down to his side, while Mariel’s were placed behind her back. She seemed confident, not like that was unusual and all, but with how things were going to unfold, this was paramount.
  5. “So, what is it you want to talk about? As much as I love a walk through the rain, I’d prefer to hear your voice.” Charming as ever. That was how he always tried to be, and it seemed to have worked, the blue haired bombshell stopped where she was, Hokaku taking a second to realise, soon turning to face her. “Mariel…?”
  6. After taking on last solemn breath, the woman bombed at him, pushing him down into the bed of flowers that were being showered behind him, and now sat atop him as he lay there. “Woah! Mariel, you want to do that out here…? Not that I’m complaining but--.” But that wasn’t it, one look at her made this very clear. Anger cloaked her features, a few other feelings being mixed in there, but that was what was most prominent, in her hand she now held a knife, and not just any knife, but the one he gifted her, with pale blue metal blade, and the engraved handle being evidence for this.
  7. “I was so close to forgiving you, so close but… I can’t. You, the man who took my identity from me at first.” The blade was clasped in both hands, held low for now, but slowly raising with her arms. “You almost had me, y’know…? Even when I first found out about your involvement, I still had doubt about you, and then I found out you were the leader, and still... I had doubts. But… But… You betrayed it. That love I almost, /almost/ felt for you has been stripped!” The knife was now held at her chest level, it dangling above him, and while his arms were restrained by her legs, it wasn’t like he wouldn’t be able to retaliate. After all, he wasn’t a small man, and he certainly had enough strength to move a woman of her size off him without any effort at all, but, he stayed still.
  8. “What do you mean..? I betrayed you? You’re the only woman who has my heart… What did I do?” The knife still dangled, the blade shaking ever so slightly in her drip, the rain that started as a small downpour picking up in strength, their bodies already at the point where they were soaked through.
  9. “What did you do? /What did you do/?! How about taking my life as a legend from me! Trapping me in a facility! Having a child with another woman! You’re despicable! The absolute worst, and for the sake of the world you should die!” With that declaration, the blade was plunged downwards towards his chest, but it barely pierced an inch before it stopped, barely a nick. She sat there, the rain doing its best mask the tears that had begun to fall from her cheeks. “Why… Why can’t I do it? I always said I would kill you, but, but… I can’t… Why? Why why /why/!?” It seemed she was trying her best to push the blade deeper, but it was if it were stuck. Stuck on a bone? No. Muscle? No. She just couldn’t push it in, no matter how much she willed her body to do it, she could push it any deeper than it already was. “Why did you have to do this to me…? Why couldn’t you let me hate you? Why did you have to make it so I fell in love with you, you dirty fucking bastard!”
  10. The man blinked, taking a glance at the blade that was partially in his chest, before back up to the woman who sat on his abdomen, and… He smiled. He smiled at her. Moving his arms out from her hold, he wrapped them around her own. “Mariel… The identity, I am so sorry about that… And the child? Mariel, Shiina and I are friends… I mean, we used to have a thing but then, well, you came along. You stole me away. But, you’re right…” Now guiding her hands, he pulled them down, pushing them knife deeper into his chest, until the hilt now pressed against his skin. His body had a clear reaction, a slight grunt of pain escaping him, as the while shirt become to turn a dark red. “Please though… Take care of our daughter.”
  11. “Our daughter…? Our daughter?! What the fuck do you mean our daughter!?” She tore her hands from the knife, his hands now resting against the wound as hers went and gripped his collar, anger once again clouding her face, as she gently shook the man.
  12. “Wren… She’s yours. She is made with a combination of me and you. She—.” The confession was halted for a moment as he cough, flecks of blood coming from his mouth, as the red liquid spilling from the corner of his lips, trickling down to his chin and onto the foliage below. “She is your, no… Our daughter, Mariel.”
  13. She fumed, but the shaking stopped. She couldn’t understand all what was going around her head. She had a daughter? She managed to kill the man she both loved and hated. He was dying below her right now… “Wait… Ho-Hokaku, this is just your way of telling me this, right? One of your sick jokes? It’s not funny. And I’m still mad, but we can--.” It clearly wasn’t a joke though, his shirt continued its colour change, his breathing had turned ragged, blood being choked up with ever few breaths. “Hokaku… Hokaku! No! Stop! Stop this joke, please! This… This isn’t what I want anymore! I’ll… I’ll--. I’ll go get Shiina, if she is here soon, she can fix you up, she can keep you ali--.” Her pleas were silenced though once a hand was placed to her cheek. It was warm… Warm means that the blood is still flowing, right, is what she thought, but soon she would realise it was wet. Water? No… The way it felt, and began to flow down her cheek, it was clearly blood. “Ho… Ka… Ku?”
  14. He hushed her, the colour having completely faded from his face. The hand that cupped her cheek clearly struggled to do so, but despite all this, despite the life leaving him, he still smiled up at her. “Mariel… I love you, and I always will. This is a good thing, let it happen. If I am to die, I couldn’t be happier that it was by your hand.” The breath he took in clearly wasn’t good enough, the man struggling to keep his eyes open, and keep his breathing going. But, he slowly began to sit up, the cup hand turning her head so his cheek faced towards her. It was clear what he wanted to do, one last farewell. The last show of affection he could ever give her. Closer he got, the bloodied lips not caring that they would soon stain her pale skin… But that wouldn’t happen. As he was mere inches away, the hand on her cheek turned limp, slipping off her skin. The head that had tried to reach her fell, slamming against the ground. His body was cold, his eyes were lifeless, but… His smile was there, the smile that he tried to never let falter kept its façade. He lay there, no more wheezing, no more movement, just… Silence. Stillness. Emptiness.
