- It's finally happening: after over two decades, Mattel is making a new current-gen Formula One Car in the Hot Wheels line, and they're kicking off the partnership with a pricey bang.
- Announced 12 hours ago, Mattel and F1 confirm that they are entering "a new global licensing partnership" that will see the toy company create a full range of official licensed products from 2025.
- In a press release, F1 says that the upcoming range "will feature cars from F1 Teams and include products designed to connect with F1’s growing young audience, as well as items that will appeal to adult collectors." This forms the tip of a massive promotional spear that will include "fan-focused activations and retail opportunities" during select Grand Prix weekends in next year's season. In simpler terms: lotta Hot Wheels versions of the new 2022-2025 spec (with licensed liveries) seen in the gallery below.
- You are looking at the Mattel Creations metal/metal version of the casting Hot Wheels will use for the mainline, and it comes with a yet-to-be-seen-from-Mattel gimmick: swappable Real Riders. The new item comes with one set of hard (white ring), medium (yellow ring), and soft (red rings) compounds of Pirelli tyres, all of which fit in the free-wheeling axles, plus a tyre rack where you can store the unused wheels.
