  1. Amalgamated was consolidated as an all-in-one enterprise, they started as a military company, providing weaponry and strategy advice to both sides in the war, now that the world went to hell, they branched out to provide every service they could.
  2. One of them was medical research, 15 Years after the mutant outbreak, Amalgamated came up with "a solution", a small surgery either in the chest or the back to implant us something that they claimed, would prevent humans from being affected by mutations caused by radiation, we could still get sick, but never become one of "them".
  3. Another "blessing" would be increasing our life span by reducing our aging rate, we would be younger for a longer time and die after the 100's with barely any cancer or these usual diseases caused by getting older... They promised, they delivered.
  4.
  5. It was working, the first batch of humans never got mutated, when they died by non-natural deaths like bandits or mutants killing them, they never turned into these things. People came in mass to Amalgamated labs, forgetting that they basically caused all of this, and signed for the surgery without hesitation.
  6.
  7. Forgot to mention, this was all free, no charge, no favours, no nothing, did they turn into an ONG or something? no. Some years later, 20 after the mutant outbreak, they came up with a new idea, a recycling program, yes. They distributed pamphlets everywhere teaching how to extract the things they implanted on us with ease, it was a chip, a smart device that released some chemicals to the body in a regular basis to prevent mutations and aging, that's what the pamphlet said. Also, they placed an enormous amount of vending machine-looking devices across the globe. Their idea was to teach us how to remove the chips from dead people, turn them on these devices, the machine would "recycle" them and give us credits in exchange, "AM Credits" to be precise. We would be able to exchange those credits for food, weapons and other stuff, the machines themselves were also some sort of materializer or 3D printers.
  8.
  9. Why? well... they told us the chips were too expensive to manufacture and the price of materializing an AKM was nothing compared to the chips. After the announcement, the hunting begun. It was like the purge, normal people, not only bandits, were deliberately killing their own neighbours, friends, even family, to get those perks, people got greedy, they lost their humanity and became animals craving for supremacy and survival.
  10.
  11. World population decreased rapidly, and the side efect was that once removed, there was nothing preventing the bodies from mutating, so they didn't die no... they went up again, as brainless mutants.
  12.
  13. This is the world we live in right now, 70 years after the mutant outbreak nothing has changed, plagued by bandits and mutants, these machines are still there, providing things to the alive. I always wondered why did they do it, what was the real purpose of the free surgery, the chips and the vending machines, in a world where the economy doesn't matter anymore, it wasn't too long before I came to realize... it is about Control, a few of us discovered these chips are monitoring devices too, turning them in result in giving them all the ex-carrier's data, all their habits, their metabolism, their locations, everything. There's a few people that know about it and care or even wonder, there's other people ok with it, "it's a little price to pay for our safety".
  14.
  15. They know all about us now, what's the bigger picture? what are they gonna do next with all this information? what's going to happen to us humans? Amalgamated became a big player on this thing called survival and we don't know what their next move is going to be.
