  3. **_Say I don’t know:_**
  4. This resonates with me because I’m usually the person who doesn’t like to ask for help. I’m the person who will go out of his way to figure something out on his own when all I had to do was ask for a little help. While figuring things out on my own is a valuable skill set in its own right there needs to be a balance of when I should just ask for help instead of wasting hours trying to figure it out.

  6. **_Don’t count the hours:_**
  7. This resonates with me because this was one of my fears about Turing. I hear stories of 80+ hour weeks and hearing this calms my nerves a bit because I am very self aware when I become overworked. I am a person who needs his sleep and time to decompress and this just reassures me that self care is very important.

  9. **_Absorb massive criticism with ease:_**
  10. Coming from the graphic design world I am all to familiar with criticism so this resonates quite a lot with me. Unfortunately in the design world criticism often comes from a subjective angle which I feel can be a bit harder to be accepting to the feedback given. I look forward to more objective criticism from coding.

  12. **_Checklists_**
  13. I’ve used checklists as a tool since I could remember. I am quite a forgetful person and often rely on checklists to make sure I accomplish what needs to get done. As a student checklists can be very helpful in keeping track of assignments and help prioritize what needs to get done. Also, as a developer checklists can help because the problem you are solving become quite complex and in order to keep track of everything, a checklist can help break everything down into bite sized pieces so they become easier to digest.

  15. **_What is your impression of strengths-based development? What questions do you have about this kind of development?_**
  16. My feelings on strength based development is a bit mixed. Hiring methods like facebook where they hired highly skilled people and create a role for them based on their strengths seems ideal but not every company can hire that way. A very small company doesn’t have the luxury of placing you to your strengths. You must be more well rounded rather than a specialist in those types of situations. I also feel like strength based development gives an excuse for not self improving in other areas. My biggest question about strength based development is whether this will have a broader effect on the hiring process of lower skilled workers. The more data and analytics you put in place in the hiring process the more selective it becomes thus making it harder to get a “reach” type job where you might think you are a great fit for but you might not have all the relevant experience for.

  18. **_What do you feel are your top strengths? How do you know?_**
  19. I think one of my key strengths is being able to go with the flow. I believe this because I feel like I can usually separate my emotions from the task at hand. There are not many situations where I become overwhelmed by changing situations.

  21. **_How do you hope to develop your strengths for your new career in software development?_**
  22. I hope to develop my strengths but also I think developing my weaknesses like my communication skills will be invaluable to for my self improvement. Just like the old saying goes … you’re only as strong as your weakest link. I also hope to figure out more of my strengths as sometimes I feel like I may doubt myself even though I may know how to do something.
