Jay is incredibly light-hearted. He's best known for all the jokes he makes during both serious and non-serious situations. Because of this, he's most likely to get along with just about anyone (especially if they laugh at his jokes). Jay, however, uses his jokes most often to cover up fears and anxiety he has in order to lighten the situation he's in. As a ninja, he is a skilled fighter, in which he tends to boast about from time to time, much to the annoyance of others. Overall, he's a well known friend and is incredibly loyal to those he cares for. If Jay feels that he's been wronged, however, he won't have a problem going against them--He is able to hold his ground but come off a bit explosive.

Jay is a natural inventor. Growing up with parents who were mechanics, Jay learned a great deal of building and inventing new creations that benefit both him and others. With the right materials, Jay can create just about anything he needs in order to get the job done. He is incredibly intelligent--Something that isn't easy to spot right away.

Alongside his humerus and friendly personality, Jay comes riddled with anxiety over stressful situations. Depending how dire the situation is, Jay becomes high-strung, going into a panic over what to do and if he'll make it out alive. Rarely, he'll get angry and blow up on someone by accident, blaming the situation for affecting him. Sometimes, Jay will have mental breakdowns in which he switches from completely panicked to completely mellow, fronting a "happy" personality over the situation when he's in fact not okay at all.

Jay is the child of famous actor Cliff Gordon and the Elemental Master of Lightning. Due to unknown reasons, Jay was given to Ed and Edna Walker, two mechanics who own a large junkyard, and was then raised as their son. Jay grew up learning to invent crazy contraptions and build different things by his parents. Overall, Jay was happy and well loved by his adoptive parents despite them being quite poor and isolated.

One day, Jay had left to test out a pair of mechanical wings he created. After frustratingly crashing he conveniently finds himself on a rooftop, where he meets Master Wu. Wu had seen the potential and Jay, and from then on Jay took up residence at the Monastery of Spinjitzu, where he trains to become a ninja that harnesses the elemental power of lightning. Now, Jay trains and fights alongside Wu's other students: Kai, Zane, Cole, and eventually Lloyd.

Jay has the ability to harness lightning, which can be used to create a tornado of pure electricity. These powers can be enhanced using either the Nun-chucks of Lightning or his Elemental Blade. These weapons, however, aren't needed for him to use his lightning element.
