  1. If people were truly intelligent, war and organized religion would cease to exist. Unfortunately, most people are too chicken shit to think for themselves or too busy keeping people scared.. then there's us... the one's who actually think for themselves, now that's a scary thought
  2.
  3. I'm going to have to disagree with you on that point, Mr. Mitha. There's arguably no such thing as "true intelligence`.
  4.
  5. You have to look at things from a bigger perspective. Let's start off with the basic kinetic molecular theory, which (when expanded + simplified) states that all matter can simply be defined as different densities of energy. Let's go back in time a bit to the Big Bang, and we'll discover that as a direct consequence of the massive release of energy a domino effect was put into motion where the perpetual flow of energy was played out due to various concentrations of electricity. These various concentrations eventually became complex enough (over a very long period of time) to form shapes tangible to our senses (which are also a consequence of the release of energy). So if we zip on to modern day we find that the original energy has split and ordered itself into such fine bits that a relatively intricate "reality" has been constructed, consisting of both biotic and abiotic components.

  7. This is where things get a little more complex. I'm going to try to keep this as logical and non-assumptive as I can. We (the "Human race") are one "common" entity of energy, one that reproduces not unlike other organisms, sentient or not. Being classified as sentient, the human race does its best to "figure shit out". It's a masturbatory life the sentient organism leads; there is no real defined purpose that we have been able to distinguish from other fabricated bits of reality, and that has pushed our race onto the brink of desperation. Ignorance gave way to education, and an epic struggle for knowledge was started. Given the rise of communication among homo sapiens (and maybe other hominids, I'm not an anthropologist), humans used their "true intelligence" to delve past the basic necessities of life (food, shelter, companionship (N.B. these three factors serve to reach the "meaning of life" as the scientific community understands it, and I'll try to come back to this point later)) and due to their undying curiosity question their existence. This is the curse that will haunt the human race for an indefinite period of time, the question "Why?". See, people needed a reason to exist. There just had to be a meaning behind WHY we were here, and ancient tribal people just weren't learned enough to grasp the concepts of molecular physics. Thus, through hysterical hallucinations, lies, and misunderstandings the nature of religion was born. This wasn't a bad thing; it helped people keep faith in themselves. Without religion, it's probable that the human race could have died out long ago. With no reason to live, who wants to bring more people into the world? Why prolong the suffering? It was inevitable, however, that some minds would refuse the answers to the "Why?" given by religion, or maybe they just wanted to make sure that they really had gotten everything right. Thus, the birth of science. (Remember, this isn't a timeline of events and the periods between phases are big grey areas of transition.) Science focuses on the question "How?". Philosophy is the marriage of science and religion, forming new questions such as "What [is]?". The ancient greeks are a great example of a culture who managed to merge the three subjects into their lifestyle, a fact which is evident needless of perusal of their history. Great thinkers such as Plato and Aristotle paved the road for other philosophers, scientists and theologists who built upon their works for millennia.

  9. Now, I've gotta go for a bit, but I'm having fun with this so I'll come back and write some more later.
