I am very concerned about the planned privatisation of the Royal Mail.

This affects the North of Scotland as a private Royal Mail would not be obligated to maintain the universal service. Currently the more accessible areas effectively subsidise equal-cost delivery to all areas of the UK. A private company, acting in the interest of profit, would not continue this. In the public sector, the Royal Mail is accountable to the public, and thus the universal service would be maintained. Furthermore, something like the Royal Mail of such cultural significance should remain public sector. Do remember that Her Majesty the Queen's likeness is on postal stamps.

I would be grateful if you could raise their concerns with Dr Cable.
