Windows VPS How much spaces is being used by the OS ?
As said in another thread I am searching for a new Windows VPS. I am calculating how much disk space I need so my question is how many Gb are required by the OS, either Windows 2012 or 2016 to run the IIS and Plesk ? Any idea ?

Windows Server 2012 requires 14gb to 18gb of disk space, depending on the roles you install.

Windows Server 2016 requires 10gb to 14gb of disk space, depending on the roles you install, the clean installation has a size of 10gb.


Windows Server 2019 requires 18gb with IIS, MSDNS, SolidCP, SQL Server Express, Filezilla Server.

What about RAM ? My current Windows Server 2008 appears to be using around 6Mb, according to the Task Manager, it includes a SQL Server Database engine that I won't have with my new configuration. What are the Windows Server 2016 requirements to run an IIS (with 4 application pools) and Plesk.

Definitely not 6 GB. Minimum requirement is 512-1024mb I believe for windows server 2016.

I would say start at least with 50 GB for C. Anything lower and you will constantly be fighting against windows disk bloating. And if possible use 2 drives, one for the OS and one for data but not partitions as that can cause growing of the drives to be a pain as well as disk fragmenting.
