  3. Mar 31 16:06:00 <SqueeGM> A young female dog in somewhat muddy and bedraggled clothes wanders up a dirt road, slogging forward practically with her whole body. It's obvious she's walked for a ways, but the end seems to be in sight; she approaches a manor nearby a river, a waterwheel steadily turning with the current as it winds towards the sea. In the distance the sparkling ocean can be seen, along with a town built on its shore that the road seems to lea
  4. Mar 31 16:06:00 <SqueeGM> d to further.
  5. Mar 31 16:07:25 <SqueeGM> The tombdog makes her way up the path to the front door of the manor and knocks on it. It swings open and a male dog peeks out at her through the crack. She can see the stripes on his mantle indicating he is an outsider-under-license, and his colors are the greens of House Kaliaxix.
  6. Mar 31 16:07:57 <SqueeGM> "Are you Kerosis?" he asks, warily.
  7. Mar 31 16:08:55 <Kimik> "That I am."
  8. Mar 31 16:10:52 <SqueeGM> He nods and opens the door a little wider. "I apologize for my rudeness. From Kaliaxix, greetings offered. You may come in."
  9. Mar 31 16:11:52 <Kimik> "Thank you."
  10. Mar 31 16:14:08 <Kimik> So yes, following along to whereever it is I'm going.
  11. Mar 31 16:14:09 <SqueeGM> The tombdog steps away from the door and lets Kerosis enter. The inside of the manor is old, but bears the markings of people trying to touch it back up. Lighter spots on the walls where paintings have been removed, holes in the wall bearing testament to missing furnishings, that sort of thing. "Wait here," he instructs her, and opens a seemingly random door and disappears into it.
  12. Mar 31 16:14:37 * Kimik is now known as Kerosis
  13. Mar 31 16:14:56 * Kerosis putters around a bit.
  14. Mar 31 16:15:36 <SqueeGM> A few minutes later the door opens once more and the outsider is back, towing along with him a Housedog in rather plain looking clothes, bearing the Kaliaxix symbol on his forest green mantle. He nods at her and introduces himself as Lehkurehn.
  15. Mar 31 16:16:39 <Bluejay> "Greetings."
  16. Mar 31 16:16:45 <SqueeGM> "I'll go and get you your clothing," the outsider offers, and wanders through another doorway, leaving Lehkurehn alone to welcome Kerosis to the House.
  17. Mar 31 16:17:00 * Bluejay is now known as Lehkurehn
  18. Mar 31 16:17:45 <Kerosis> "Hello there."
  19. Mar 31 16:18:50 <SqueeGM> It isn't long before he returns, bearing bundles of green cloth, which he hands off to Kerosis. The outsider points to a door across the room. "There is a changing room there."
  20. Mar 31 16:19:07 <Kerosis> "Right then..."
  21. Mar 31 16:19:15 * Kerosis heads off to do so.
  22. Mar 31 16:19:19 <Lehkurehn> Do I know why Kerosis has been summoned?
  23. Mar 31 16:19:59 <SqueeGM> Yes, you've been informed that an outsider has been brought in under license to act as a healer and doctor for House Kaliaxix.
  24. Mar 31 16:20:24 <SqueeGM> Kerosis knows your name now, but you don't know hers.
  25. Mar 31 16:21:15 <Lehkurehn> Will ask when she returns. What is our current standing in town?
  26. Mar 31 16:22:32 <SqueeGM> The nearest town is Tadnohxehdnihrsis-em, a medium-size shipping and merchant town, and House Kaliaxix currently controls it, so everyone there is a former-stranger to you.
  27. Mar 31 16:24:05 <SqueeGM> All the towndogs, at least.
  28. Mar 31 16:26:24 * Lehkurehn approaches the changing room and knocks.
  29. Mar 31 16:26:46 <Lehkurehn> "Are you finished in there Miss... um"
  30. Mar 31 16:26:57 <Lehkurehn> "We have business to attend"
  31. Mar 31 16:27:54 <Kerosis> "Oh, I'm sorry. Kerosis. Pleasure to meet you."
  32. Mar 31 16:28:40 <SqueeGM> The outsider-under-license has resumed standing by the door, trying not to lean against the wall when Lehkurehn is looking.
  33. Mar 31 16:29:02 <Lehkurehn> "The pleasure is surely mine. We have been in need of a healer for some time."
  34. Mar 31 16:29:54 <Lehkurehn> what is the outsiders name?
  35. Mar 31 16:31:00 <SqueeGM> The outsider-under-license's name is Hakohlixix.
  36. Mar 31 16:32:00 <Lehkurehn> "Yes, Hakohlixix?"
  37. Mar 31 16:32:58 <SqueeGM> Hakohlixix snaps to attention. "Huh? What?"
  38. Mar 31 16:35:57 <SqueeGM> "I didn't say anything, Lehkurehn," he offers meekly.
  39. Mar 31 16:36:36 <Kerosis> "So... I suppose there's somewhere I should be... setting up shop as it were?"
  40. Mar 31 16:37:16 <SqueeGM> Did Kerosis leave the changing room?
  41. Mar 31 16:37:21 <Kerosis> yeah
  42. Mar 31 16:37:32 <Kerosis> changed, came out, made introductions
  43. Mar 31 16:37:41 <Kerosis> (and finished getting distracted by a big plate of ham)
  44. Mar 31 16:37:42 <Lehkurehn> "I see." Lehkurehn strokes his muzzle. "Perhaps you should. You have arranged our guest's living quarters yet"?
  45. Mar 31 16:39:15 <SqueeGM> "Yes, they've been--" Hakohlixix is interrupted by a door opening further down the room. Another Housedog leaves it, and spots Lehkurehn, moving toward him immediately. "Lehkurehn! There you are. There's an emergency down at the docks. You must go and sort it out immediately."
  46. Mar 31 16:40:28 <Lehkurehn> "Isn't there always," Lehkurehn retorts. "What is the situation?"
  47. Mar 31 16:41:10 <SqueeGM> "Apparently no ships are moving in and out. The workers have shut the whole place down. I don't think I need to stress the importance of you solving this immediately."
  48. Mar 31 16:43:01 <Lehkurehn> "I'll handle it immediately."
  49. Mar 31 16:43:36 * Lehkurehn begins towards the door before pausing and looking over his shoulder.
  50. Mar 31 16:43:45 <Kerosis> "Good luck."
  51. Mar 31 16:43:59 <SqueeGM> Hakohlixix also glances at Kerosis. "Should she go with you? You are supposed to be showing her around."
  52. Mar 31 16:44:06 <Lehkurehn> "You're coming too, Kerosis."
  53. Mar 31 16:44:33 <Kerosis> "Oh. Well I suppose I would yes."
  54. Mar 31 16:44:40 * Kerosis chuckles nervously.
  55. Mar 31 16:44:59 <Lehkurehn> "I'll give you the grand tour. We're at our finest when things are falling apart. It'll be fun."
  56. Mar 31 16:46:04 * Kerosis nods, tagging along
  57. Mar 31 16:46:32 <Lehkurehn> How far away is the city? do we have guzzlers or must we walk?
  58. Mar 31 16:46:59 <SqueeGM> It's possible you could get a carriage, but the city is only about a twenty minute jog down the road.
  59. Mar 31 16:47:46 <Lehkurehn> I begin walking towrds the town then
  60. Mar 31 16:49:42 <SqueeGM> Hakohlixix looks out the door nervously after the both of you. "Good luck," he calls to Lehkurehn before shutting it, a distinct click sounding as it's locked.
  61. Mar 31 16:50:34 <SqueeGM> The two dogs set off down the road. It's a nice clear day out, and you can see for miles in any direction, even the crests of other cities further inland over the hills.
  62. Mar 31 16:50:55 <Kerosis> "So, what is it you do around here, exactly?"
  63. Mar 31 16:52:22 <Lehkurehn> "I make sure the boats move, the goods are accounted for, and the dock workers don't get in fights."
  64. Mar 31 16:53:12 <Lehkurehn> "The town up ahead is Tadnohxehdnihrsis-em. House Kaliaxix controls it."
  65. Mar 31 16:53:56 <Lehkurehn> "...Though not from lack of trying from the other houses," he mutters.
  66. Mar 31 16:54:19 <Lehkurehn> "So tell me more about yourself, Kerosis."
  67. Mar 31 16:56:11 <Kerosis> "There isn't all that much to tell, honestly. I've just seen enough people get hurt and sick to make me want to try and do something about it when I can. Never had much of a head for all these political things."
  68. Mar 31 16:59:10 <Lehkurehn> "Nor I, but it must be done. How long have you been a healer?"
  69. Mar 31 17:00:10 <Kerosis> "Not as long as I'd like, to be honest. I'm still working out some of the subtler details, I'm afraid."
  70. Mar 31 17:03:05 <Lehkurehn> "Still green then," Lehkurehn muses. "Well you'll have plenty of practice in the days ahead. Tadnohxehdnihrsis-em is not known for it's doctors. I look forward to working with you."
  71. Mar 31 17:03:44 <Kerosis> "Thank you. I'll do my best."
  72. Mar 31 17:05:19 <Kerosis> (and... scene?)
  73. Mar 31 17:05:33 <Lehkurehn> (agreed)
  74. Mar 31 17:06:50 <SqueeGM> Eventually the town comes into full view, and a carriage passes the group pulled by water-guzzlers. There are several towndogs moving about the streets, presumably busy with their own matters. The dock is on the other side.
  75. Mar 31 17:08:40 <Lehkurehn> What do we know about the city?
  76. Mar 31 17:08:42 <SqueeGM> Voices pierce the air as the two dogs move through the streets. Lehkurehn in particular gets much attention, people nodding at him and waving, and often someone shouts, "Greetings, of-Kaliaxix!"
  77. Mar 31 17:09:15 * Kerosis idly waves at people.
  78. Mar 31 17:09:55 * Lehkurehn calmly returns their greetings.
  79. Mar 31 17:10:39 <SqueeGM> The city is built on the coast of the peninsula, facing the ocean. It's a common port for the littler Houses here, as well as frequent traders from the birddemon archipelago.
  80. Mar 31 17:11:20 <SqueeGM> Some other races are present, though it's mostly a mix of tombdogs and birds, since the other remnants face the northern coast.
  81. Mar 31 17:11:51 * Colour has quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
  82. Mar 31 17:12:08 <Lehkurehn> We approach the docks?
  83. Mar 31 17:13:26 <SqueeGM> The bustle seems to quiet as Kerosis and Lehkurehn move into the city, and when they are close to the docks, the streets seem practically abandoned. It seems to be a crisscross of warehouses, casting shadows into the alleys, the only sounds the occasional burst from dockhands laughing, dropping things, or cursing in the distance, and a low rumble from the rest of the city.
  84. Mar 31 17:13:53 <Kerosis> "Doesn't seem like much of a protest..."
  85. Mar 31 17:14:38 <SqueeGM> When the group finds their way out, with Lehkurehn's expert guidance, the sun bursts into view, shining down on the dazzling ocean, making a scenic backdrop to the crowd of workers who are waiting for them on the wooden docks.
  86. Mar 31 17:15:33 <SqueeGM> "Greetings, of-Kaliaxix!" one of them calls out. He stands in the center of them, with one foot on a box, a tombdog in the town's colors. "Who's this, now? I don't think I've seen her around here before."
  87. Mar 31 17:16:15 <Lehkurehn> "Greeting given," Lehkuren says. "we've hired a doctor."
  88. Mar 31 17:16:48 * Lehkurehn gestures to kerosis
  89. Mar 31 17:16:58 <Kerosis> "Yes, hello."
  90. Mar 31 17:17:12 <Kerosis> "Kerosis... you are?"
  91. Mar 31 17:17:34 <SqueeGM> "Strange choice to bring with you," he says. "Bit of the old Kaliaxix mercy after you beat us up, eh?" The dockhands around him laugh, and he gestures to the barrel in front of the box he has his foot on. "Come on, then, sit down. Let's talk."
  92. Mar 31 17:18:09 <Lehkurehn> "Indeed."
  93. Mar 31 17:18:16 * Lehkurehn sits
  94. Mar 31 17:18:48 <SqueeGM> The tombdog sits down on his crate on the other side of the barrel and puts an empty green glass bottle on top. "
  95. Mar 31 17:18:50 <Lehkurehn> "So why have the lanes closed, pray-tell?"
  96. Mar 31 17:19:12 <SqueeGM> "Sorry, drank it all waiting for you. No need to jump to business. I'm Kehxilehn, and you, of-Kaliaxix?"
  97. Mar 31 17:19:36 * Colour (~Tezakian@Rizon-B2745125.as13285.net) has joined #tombdogs
  98. Mar 31 17:19:52 <Lehkurehn> "Lehkurehn of Kaliaxix"
  99. Mar 31 17:20:55 <Lehkurehn> "I prefer the pleasure after the business good Kehxilehn."
  100. Mar 31 17:21:01 * Lehkurehn smirks
  101. Mar 31 17:21:10 <SqueeGM> Kehxilehn nods. "A pleasure to meet you, Lehkurehn. Well, you see, we've shut down the lanes because, to be frank, what you're paying us isn't enough to eat on, much less raise a family with."
  102. Mar 31 17:21:46 <SqueeGM> The workers around him nod in agreement, and he continues. "All we're asking, and we think it's reasonable, is a thirty percent pay raise."
  103. Mar 31 17:21:47 <Lehkurehn> (I say this while drinking a Guiness :V)
  104. Mar 31 17:23:30 <Lehkurehn> What is our current financial situation as compared to the workers pay? what is the average? How well have we been selling? How well have they been working?
  105. Mar 31 17:23:48 <Lehkurehn> What is our reputation?
  106. Mar 31 17:25:39 <SqueeGM> House Kaliaxix was fortunate to take control of the town, and they're in relatively good standing, as it was a peaceful acquisition. Business has been good, especially with trade in things like firearms starting to rise, but Kaliaxix mostly takes taxes and tolls from the ships passing through, rather than selling anything to them directly. They also get all the money from the services the dock workers provide, and pay them accord
  107. Mar 31 17:25:39 <SqueeGM> ingly. Lehkurehn would have no idea how much they're actually paid, strictly.
  108. Mar 31 17:28:29 * Lehkurehn spins the bottle so the label faces Kehxilehn.
  109. Mar 31 17:29:52 <SqueeGM> Kehxilehn folds his arms over his chest. "What do you say, of-Kaliaxix?"
  110. Mar 31 17:30:37 <Lehkurehn> "you have served House Kaliaxix faithfully and with great vigor but surely you insult us to think thirty percent acceptable." Lehkurehn tips the bottle over. "But I'm sure an arrangement can be made."
  111. Mar 31 17:30:58 <Lehkurehn> How many workers do we employ approximately.
  112. Mar 31 17:31:51 <SqueeGM> There's about fourty some-odd workers, mostly tombdogs, on the docks under the employ of House Kaliaxix.
  113. Mar 31 17:32:20 * Kerosis gawks at the foreigners on the docks.
  114. Mar 31 17:33:41 <Lehkurehn> "Five percent seems fair. what say you."
  115. Mar 31 17:33:51 <SqueeGM> 3d6
  116. Mar 31 17:33:51 <Dicey> SqueeGM, 3d6: 9 [3d6=2,5,2]
  117. Mar 31 17:34:26 <SqueeGM> Kehxilehn picks the bottle up and puts it on the table upright, keeping his hand on it. "Thirty percent is an insignificant amount to your House. I said before it was not enough to eat on, what less could fix that?" He turns his head to Kerosis. "What does the lady think?" he asks. Lehkurehn notices a few dogs in the colors of rival Houses in the crowd, some smirking.
  118. Mar 31 17:34:41 <Lehkurehn> (how does this work again?)
  119. Mar 31 17:34:58 <Kerosis> (3d6+ranks in bargaining?)
  120. Mar 31 17:34:58 <Lehkurehn> (the dice rolling?)
  121. Mar 31 17:36:00 <SqueeGM> (I just rolled for Visual Acuity. Skills are usually a 3d6, it depends on the roll.)
  122. Mar 31 17:36:15 <Lehkurehn> (Shouldn't either mercantilism or influence apply then?)
  123. Mar 31 17:36:40 <Lehkurehn> (oh well, I dfer to Kimik.)
  124. Mar 31 17:36:55 <Kerosis> "Oh. I don't really know enough about your situation here to say one way or the other... I just got to town really."
  125. Mar 31 17:37:01 <SqueeGM> (If you're trying to sway him, it would be Influence. Mercantilism is financial.)
  126. Mar 31 17:37:32 <SqueeGM> (There's no actual trading involved here.)
  127. Mar 31 17:43:23 <Lehkurehn> Lehkuren leans back. regarding Kerosis reassuringly. "Kaliaxix respects your needs but your demands our too high. Lest your families only eat honey and wine I will instead take consideration of your needs and offer 8%."
  128. Mar 31 17:45:10 <Lehkurehn> *are
  129. Mar 31 17:47:02 <SqueeGM> Kehxilehn narrows his eyes a little, letting his bottom lip curl. "I would watch where you tread, Lehkurehn of Kaliaxix. We work much and are paid little. If the lanes remain closed Kaliaxix will be ruined in short order, and I doubt your House would like to tarnish its image by opening them with force. You and I both know that others are watching. Fifteen percent is the least you can spare for the future of your House."
  130. Mar 31 17:47:58 * Kerosis glances around for who else might be watching the negotiation.
  131. Mar 31 17:48:38 <SqueeGM> (visual acuity)
  132. Mar 31 17:48:49 <Kerosis> !roll 3d6
  133. Mar 31 17:49:04 <Kerosis> ah, wrong bot
  134. Mar 31 17:49:07 <Kerosis> 3d6
  135. Mar 31 17:49:07 <Dicey> Kerosis, 3d6: 13 [3d6=4,5,4]
  136. Mar 31 17:50:08 <SqueeGM> Kerosis glances out at the crowd that is watching the negotiations take place. She can see a few members of Houses she does not recognize, and some merchants watching the proceedings anxiously, but the majority of the crowd is dock workers, both tombdog and birddemon, with one or two other races.
  137. Mar 31 17:51:43 <Lehkurehn> Lehkurehn smiles, no sign on his face at the slight. "The workers must be blessed to have such a negotiator as yourself." Lehkurehn extends his hand. "fifteen shall be the price!"
  138. Mar 31 17:54:46 <SqueeGM> Kehxilehn's face softens, though he regards Lehkurehn carefully at the somewhat threatening smile. He lets his mouth hang open a little as he takes Lehkurehn's hand and shakes it. "Thank you, Lehkurehn of Kaliaxix. Your work here is done. The shipping lanes will open, and we will be glad of our next payment."
  139. Mar 31 17:58:43 <Kerosis> "Well, that seems rather painless."
  140. Mar 31 17:58:46 <Lehkurehn> "You are most welcome Kehxilehn. May your family eat well." Lehkurehn stands and regards the crowd
  141. Mar 31 17:59:17 <Lehkurehn> as we leave Lehkurehn whispers to Kerosis.
  142. Mar 31 17:59:53 <Kerosis> *seemed
  143. Mar 31 18:00:32 <Lehkurehn> "we'll take the difference out of the boats. a small increase in shipping will more than cover that with all the traffic we recieve."
  144. Mar 31 18:00:42 <Lehkurehn> *received
  145. Mar 31 18:02:24 <SqueeGM> The crowd disperses as Lehkurehn gets up and guides Kerosis away. Shall the two of them return to the House?
  146. Mar 31 18:03:06 <Lehkurehn> "come now. May we eat as well as the workers wished they did. I'm sure the cooks have made something special in honor of guest."
  147. Mar 31 18:03:06 <Kerosis> "It does seem like quite the busy port."
  148. Mar 31 18:03:08 <Kerosis> and, yeah
  149. Mar 31 18:03:17 <Lehkurehn> "aye"
  150. Mar 31 18:05:47 <Lehkurehn> (scene?)
  151. Mar 31 18:05:51 <SqueeGM> They pass through the seemingly empty streets on their way back to the manor. However, this time, Lehkurehn's stride is interrupted by a dagger burying itself in the dirt in front of him with a sharp cutting noise.
  152. Mar 31 18:07:11 * Kerosis yelps in alarm.
  153. Mar 31 18:07:15 <SqueeGM> Three bandits emerge from the shadows on either side of them. All of them are carrying weapons, and one of them with a khopesh points it at Lehkurehn. "Right. Hand over your valuables and nobody has to get hurt."
  154. Mar 31 18:07:19 <Lehkurehn> ?takes a step back
  155. Mar 31 18:08:48 <Kerosis> "Sorry... but we don't actually have anything of value on hand I'm afraid."
  156. Mar 31 18:09:09 <Lehkurehn> "Valuables? What messenger carries valuables?"
  157. Mar 31 18:10:58 <SqueeGM> The one who spoke before looks Kerosis and Lehkurehn up and down, weighing his khopesh in his hand. He's wearing an armored shirt, and has a few scars on him. The others are a male tombdog wielding a curved dagger, and a rather skittish-looking female tombdog holding a dagger as long as her forearm. Notably, the female bandit isn't wearing a shirt -- her mantle is all that covers her.
  158. Mar 31 18:11:36 <SqueeGM> The leader scoffs. "Yeah, right. You're from a House, you've got to have some money on you."
  159. Mar 31 18:14:13 * Kerosis double checks for any pockets to turn out as proof, new clothes and all.
  160. Mar 31 18:16:07 <Lehkurehn> "Surely you thought this through," Lehkurehn replies. "Do you really think you could steal from Kaliaxix and come out at the end of the day with your bodies intact?" Lehkurehn lifts his mantle to show he has no possessions. "But I digress, Neither of us have any valuables but I am an agreeable person. Perhaps you might instead be need of a service House Kalia
  161. Mar 31 18:16:31 <Lehkurehn> xis can provide?"
  162. Mar 31 18:18:19 <SqueeGM> The ostensible leader draws back his lips in a frown, and waves his khopesh at the bandit on the other side of them. "Right. Put your hands in the air and keep them up, and we'll make sure you're not lying."
  163. Mar 31 18:18:52 <Lehkurehn> "fair enough."
  164. Mar 31 18:19:18 * Kerosis gulps nervously and complies.
  165. Mar 31 18:20:00 <SqueeGM> The bandit sticks his dagger in his waistband and comes forward, keeping an eye on them as he pats them lightly up and down. He leers at Kerosis a little as he does, but doesn't try anything.
  166. Mar 31 18:20:49 * Kerosis notes this may be the first ever instance of RPG characters complying with bandits.
  167. Mar 31 18:21:18 <SqueeGM> (This isn't an ordinary system!)
  168. Mar 31 18:22:12 <SqueeGM> After he's done, he shakes his head at the leader, who lets out a little growl. "Well, what a waste of time. I guess now we have to kill you."
  169. Mar 31 18:22:32 <Lehkurehn> (we are also not mighty adventurers of the realm wielding smite evils or whatever :V)
  170. Mar 31 18:22:38 <Kerosis> init then I suppose?
  171. Mar 31 18:23:30 <SqueeGM> (They haven't technically initiated combat yet, you can still respond.)
  172. Mar 31 18:24:18 <Kerosis> Well then
  173. Mar 31 18:24:39 <Kerosis> I suppose that calls for panicking and grabbing his knife before he can
  174. Mar 31 18:25:26 <Lehkurehn> I'll tackle the one with the knife for Kerosis.
  175. Mar 31 18:25:35 <SqueeGM> Sounds like a Sleight of Hand roll if you want to try and steal his knife.
  176. Mar 31 18:25:41 <Kerosis> sure
  177. Mar 31 18:25:43 <Kerosis> 3d6
  178. Mar 31 18:25:44 <Dicey> Kerosis, 3d6: 6 [3d6=2,3,1]
  179. Mar 31 18:25:49 <Lehkurehn> I will also scream
  180. Mar 31 18:25:49 <Kerosis> Probably not
  181. Mar 31 18:26:25 <SqueeGM> 3d6 visual acuity (to see it coming?)
  182. Mar 31 18:26:25 <Dicey> SqueeGM, visual acuity (to see it coming?): 10 [3d6=5,4,1]
  183. Mar 31 18:26:30 <SqueeGM> unfortunately not
  184. Mar 31 18:27:40 <SqueeGM> Alright, roll initiative I suppose.
  185. Mar 31 18:28:12 <Kerosis> straight 3d6?
  186. Mar 31 18:28:33 <SqueeGM> no, 1d20
  187. Mar 31 18:28:39 <Kerosis> 1d20
  188. Mar 31 18:28:39 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 20 [1d20=20]
  189. Mar 31 18:28:47 <SqueeGM> now that's a good roll.
  190. Mar 31 18:29:26 <SqueeGM> 1d20+1 bandit leader
  191. Mar 31 18:29:26 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit leader: 5 [1d20=4]
  192. Mar 31 18:29:32 <SqueeGM> 1d20 bandit A
  193. Mar 31 18:29:32 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit A: 20 [1d20=20]
  194. Mar 31 18:29:34 <SqueeGM> 1d20 bandit B
  195. Mar 31 18:29:34 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit B: 13 [1d20=13]
  196. Mar 31 18:29:39 <SqueeGM> 1d20 bandit A tied with Kerosis
  197. Mar 31 18:29:39 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit A tied with Kerosis: 6 [1d20=6]
  198. Mar 31 18:29:44 <SqueeGM> roll again, Kerosis
  199. Mar 31 18:29:47 <Kerosis> 1d20
  200. Mar 31 18:29:47 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 9 [1d20=9]
  201. Mar 31 18:30:04 <SqueeGM> And Lehkurehn
  202. Mar 31 18:30:23 <Lehkurehn> (i dont know how to roll)
  203. Mar 31 18:30:29 <Kerosis> (1d20)
  204. Mar 31 18:30:42 <Lehkurehn> 1d20
  205. Mar 31 18:30:42 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, 1d20: 11 [1d20=11]
  206. Mar 31 18:30:53 <SqueeGM> Turn Order: Kerosis, Bandit A, Bandit B, Lehkurehn, Bandit Leader
  207. Mar 31 18:31:36 <SqueeGM> Kerosis lunges for the male bandit's dagger, but he jumps away quickly. The posture of all five combatants immediately switches into a fighting stance, or what passes for one with the less combat-experienced of them.
  208. Mar 31 18:32:04 <SqueeGM> Kerosis has the advantage over the rest of them, quickly moving from her lunge into another action. What does she do?
  209. Mar 31 18:32:33 <Kerosis> how far were we from the house again? Or docks for that matter?
  210. Mar 31 18:33:22 <SqueeGM> You're in the sort of intersection between the city proper and the docks, where the warehouses are, and thus there are the fewest people around.
  211. Mar 31 18:34:20 <Kerosis> and no obviously cop type looking people to run screaming for help to about I assume.
  212. Mar 31 18:34:55 <SqueeGM> That would be House Kaliaxix members.
  213. Mar 31 18:35:17 <SqueeGM> House members of any sort, really, but those not of Kaliaxix might be less willing to lend a hand to an outsider in their colors.
  214. Mar 31 18:35:24 <Kerosis> which would help on the visibility front
  215. Mar 31 18:35:54 <SqueeGM> Also Kerosis doesn't know any other House's colors, so she'd have to run up to anybody not in towndog colors.
  216. Mar 31 18:36:14 <SqueeGM> There's a place where crimes are reported, but Kerosis doesn't know where it is.
  217. Mar 31 18:36:33 <Kerosis> Well then
  218. Mar 31 18:37:03 <Kerosis> I suppose it's just running for the densest wad of people in sight screaming for help with me.
  219. Mar 31 18:37:25 <SqueeGM> So you're trying to flee combat, then?
  220. Mar 31 18:37:31 <Kerosis> yep
  221. Mar 31 18:37:52 <Kerosis> they're armed, we're not, 2 against 3, no combat training anywhere=bad odds
  222. Mar 31 18:38:39 <SqueeGM> I don't know if I wrote the rules for that down, but basically you have to spend a turn fleeing and not get hit by anything.
  223. Mar 31 18:38:52 <Kerosis> fair enough
  224. Mar 31 18:39:47 <SqueeGM> The male bandit next to Kerosis fumbles his dagger out of his waistband after she tries to grab it, and takes a swing at her after she begins to leg it.
  225. Mar 31 18:40:00 <SqueeGM> d6 bandit A to hit
  226. Mar 31 18:40:03 <SqueeGM> 1d6 bandit A to hit
  227. Mar 31 18:40:03 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit A to hit: 4 [1d6=4]
  228. Mar 31 18:40:11 <SqueeGM> roll higher, Kerosis!
  229. Mar 31 18:40:19 <Kerosis> 1d6 dodgery
  230. Mar 31 18:40:19 <Dicey> Kerosis, dodgery: 5 [1d6=5]
  231. Mar 31 18:40:21 <Kerosis> yay
  232. Mar 31 18:40:31 <SqueeGM> His swing goes wide, however, as she flees.
  233. Mar 31 18:40:49 <Lehkurehn> has she fled yet?
  234. Mar 31 18:40:58 <SqueeGM> Next turn she'll be gone, assuming nobody gets her.
  235. Mar 31 18:41:08 <SqueeGM> The female, shirtless bandit hesitates as combat breaks out, before rearing her dagger up and taking a swing at Lehkurehn.
  236. Mar 31 18:41:17 <SqueeGM> 1d6 bandit B to hit
  237. Mar 31 18:41:18 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit B to hit: 4 [1d6=4]
  238. Mar 31 18:41:48 <SqueeGM> er, whoops
  239. Mar 31 18:41:49 <Lehkurehn> 1d6 nonottheface
  240. Mar 31 18:41:49 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, nonottheface: 4 [1d6=4]
  241. Mar 31 18:41:51 <SqueeGM> 1d4 bandit B to hit
  242. Mar 31 18:41:51 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit B to hit: 1 [1d4=1]
  243. Mar 31 18:42:30 <SqueeGM> Her inexperience with her weapon shows, however, as she doesn't get even close to him, and nearly stumbles with her botched swing.
  244. Mar 31 18:42:35 <SqueeGM> It's then his turn to react.
  245. Mar 31 18:43:24 <Lehkurehn> I book it as well
  246. Mar 31 18:44:30 <SqueeGM> Very well, then. The leader narrows his eyes as his prey starts to get away, and makes a haphazard swing at Lehkurehn as he starts running.
  247. Mar 31 18:44:33 <SqueeGM> 1d6-1 bandit leader to hit
  248. Mar 31 18:44:33 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bandit leader to hit: 5 [1d6=6]
  249. Mar 31 18:44:57 <Kerosis> ties go to who again?
  250. Mar 31 18:45:24 <SqueeGM> Tie goes to the defender.
  251. Mar 31 18:45:27 <Lehkurehn> 1d6 ow
  252. Mar 31 18:45:27 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, ow: 2 [1d6=2]
  253. Mar 31 18:46:11 <SqueeGM> 3d6 power roll
  254. Mar 31 18:46:12 <Dicey> SqueeGM, power roll: 4 [3d6=1,1,2]
  255. Mar 31 18:46:45 <SqueeGM> 2d6 khopesh damage
  256. Mar 31 18:46:45 <Dicey> SqueeGM, khopesh damage: 6 [2d6=1,5]
  257. Mar 31 18:47:00 <SqueeGM> 1d20 location
  258. Mar 31 18:47:00 <Dicey> SqueeGM, location: 17 [1d20=17]
  259. Mar 31 18:47:27 <Lehkurehn> 3 to foot?
  260. Mar 31 18:47:30 <SqueeGM> The leader lunges at Lehkurehn, desperate to keep him from getting away, and nearly topples over, his khopesh gashing him in the foot for 3 damage.
  261. Mar 31 18:47:51 * Lehkurehn yelps
  262. Mar 31 18:48:38 <SqueeGM> Kerosis is off into the streets by the time anybody has any time to react, summoning speed that can only be accessed by fear, leaving Lehkurehn to fend for himself.
  263. Mar 31 18:48:39 <Lehkurehn> "well now. how long till she gets back with the guard, you think?" lehkuren says limping.
  264. Mar 31 18:49:14 <SqueeGM> The male bandit points his dagger at Lehkurehn. "Make this easy on us, stranger. Get down on your knees."
  265. Mar 31 18:49:28 <Lehkurehn> " perhaps if you let me leave I can convince my house mates to not scour the city for your bodies."
  266. Mar 31 18:50:06 <Lehkurehn> "if you run now you can be out of the city before she returns"
  267. Mar 31 18:50:17 <Lehkurehn> (influence?)
  268. Mar 31 18:50:21 <SqueeGM> (yep)
  269. Mar 31 18:50:27 <SqueeGM> (DC 7, let's say)
  270. Mar 31 18:50:38 <Lehkurehn> (psych to know they're scared and inexperienced)
  271. Mar 31 18:51:05 <SqueeGM> (you could try psychology first to get their weaknesses)
  272. Mar 31 18:51:13 <Lehkurehn> that then
  273. Mar 31 18:51:30 <Lehkurehn> 3d6+1 psycho mantis
  274. Mar 31 18:51:31 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, psycho mantis: 11 [3d6=3,3,4]
  275. Mar 31 18:53:14 <SqueeGM> Lehkurehn can tell they are poor and fairly desperate. The leader has some combat experience, as evidenced by his demeanor and his scars. The male is probably a beggar-turned-bandit that the leader picked up, having no other option. The female clearly doesn't want to hurt anybody, and Lehkurehn can tell from her earlier strike that she intended only to hit him very hard with the handle of her dagger and perhaps knock him out.
  276. Mar 31 18:54:30 <SqueeGM> (Kerosis, roll a d20 to see if you can find any help, let's say DC 9)
  277. Mar 31 18:54:41 <Kerosis> sure
  278. Mar 31 18:54:44 <Kerosis> 1d20
  279. Mar 31 18:54:44 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 13 [1d20=13]
  280. Mar 31 18:54:55 <SqueeGM> (I suppose you'll be back with those guys next turn)
  281. Mar 31 18:55:37 <Kerosis> makes sense
  282. Mar 31 18:57:00 <Lehkurehn> "It's clear you aren't very good at this. House Kaliaxix could let this slide if you back off now."
  283. Mar 31 18:57:22 <Lehkurehn> 3d6 influence
  284. Mar 31 18:57:22 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, influence: 9 [3d6=4,2,3]
  285. Mar 31 18:57:35 <Lehkurehn> plus one
  286. Mar 31 18:58:12 * EldritchDM is now known as Eldritchkitty
  287. Mar 31 18:59:52 <SqueeGM> The leader smiles at Lehkurehn. "Very clever. I suppose you think yourself a great negotiator. But your House would as soon skin us alive as look at us. It's of no consequence now whether we gut you or not." He raises his khopesh, but the female bandit stops him. "Please, let's just get out of here," she begs him. "The other one will be back any minute. We have to go, now!" The male bandit standing by Lehkurehn teases his dagger
  288. Mar 31 18:59:52 <SqueeGM> on the Housedog's mantle as the two of them start to argue frantically.
  289. Mar 31 19:00:32 <Kerosis> (AFK real quick)
  290. Mar 31 19:03:19 <SqueeGM> (No further comment, Lehkurehn?)
  291. Mar 31 19:05:16 <Lehkurehn> "Times wasting," He eyes the bandit with the dagger.
  292. Mar 31 19:08:30 <Kerosis> back
  293. Mar 31 19:09:02 <SqueeGM> The two of them bicker for long enough, the leader at one point physically grabbing and shaking the female bandit, before a shout is heard. All heads turn in that direction, and Kerosis is seen, flanked by two armored Kaliaxix Housedogs wielding pikes. The male bandit sighs and drops his dagger in the dirt. The female puts her hands in the air slowly, the dagger falling from her fingers, and the leader takes one look at them befo
  294. Mar 31 19:09:02 <SqueeGM> re finally beginning to leg it into the shadows from whence he came.
  295. Mar 31 19:09:45 * Lehkurehn looks up to Kerosis.
  296. Mar 31 19:10:11 <Lehkurehn> "Well it looks like we'll be needing your services immediately."
  297. Mar 31 19:10:34 <Kerosis> "I'm sorry... I came back as soon as I could."
  298. Mar 31 19:10:47 * Kerosis goes into injury inspection mode immediately
  299. Mar 31 19:11:01 <Lehkurehn> are the guards of our house?
  300. Mar 31 19:11:05 <SqueeGM> The female bandit gets down on her knees and glances back to Lehkurehn fearfully, and the male dog regards Kerosis coldly. The Housedogs quickly march up and hold them at pikepoint, and one sends the other after the lead bandit.
  301. Mar 31 19:11:06 <Kerosis> which I believe would be covered by healing, assuming no actual serious bleeding?
  302. Mar 31 19:11:10 <SqueeGM> (They are Kaliaxix, yes.)
  303. Mar 31 19:11:16 <SqueeGM> (Oh, I forgot to roll for bleeding.)
  304. Mar 31 19:11:18 <SqueeGM> 1d20 bleeding
  305. Mar 31 19:11:18 <Dicey> SqueeGM, bleeding: 5 [1d20=5]
  306. Mar 31 19:11:27 <SqueeGM> It's normal bleeding, he's only lost 4 HP.
  307. Mar 31 19:11:48 <Kerosis> "I don't suppose anyone has any cloth handy?"
  308. Mar 31 19:12:03 <Lehkurehn> "Of Kaliaxix, Do you happen to have any coin on you?" addressing the guards
  309. Mar 31 19:13:00 <SqueeGM> The bandits make no reply to Kerosis, the female looking shamefully down at her bare midriff. The of-Kaliaxix guard nods at Lehkurehn. "A few Kaliaxix pennies, why? And I am sorry, but I carry no cloth."
  310. Mar 31 19:13:10 <Kerosis> if not, ripping off a strip from this skirt I guess for makeshift bandage time. Upside, definitely clean, being new and all.
  311. Mar 31 19:13:19 <Kerosis> 3d6+1
  312. Mar 31 19:13:19 <Dicey> Kerosis, 3d6+1: 14 [3d6=1,6,6]
  313. Mar 31 19:14:15 <Kerosis> "That should do. YOu aren't hurt anywhere else are you?"
  314. Mar 31 19:14:56 <SqueeGM> Kerosis manages to stop the bleeding with her own clothing, though the male bandit leers at her some more. After the makeshift bandage is applied, the Housedog taps the female bandit on the head with his spear. "Get up."
  315. Mar 31 19:16:00 <Lehkurehn> Lehkurehn takes the coins. "I'll pay you back later. There's been a change of plans. When you catch the leader, execute him for thievery. As for the other two..." he sets the coins in equal piles in front of the bandits.
  316. Mar 31 19:17:10 <SqueeGM> He holds them at pikepoint until the other Housedog returns, his pike bloodied. He nods at the first guard. "I cornered him in an alley, and he fought. No great loss, I think. We'll have to go and get his body soon."
  317. Mar 31 19:17:16 <Lehkurehn> "set the haggard one up with a job at the docks, he seems of strong body. The girl, find her something less stressful to do."
  318. Mar 31 19:17:32 <Lehkurehn> "No need to harm these two.
  319. Mar 31 19:17:43 <SqueeGM> The first Housedog glances at Lehkurehn. "But, of-Kaliaxix, they are thieves. They wounded you."
  320. Mar 31 19:18:43 <Lehkurehn> "what choice do they have. They are poor. They made a risky business move and they failed but I'm always looking for mergers.
  321. Mar 31 19:19:21 <SqueeGM> "At the very least, we will have to take them into custody. With all due respect, I don't think you are qualified to make that decision."
  322. Mar 31 19:19:25 <Lehkurehn> "thank you Kerosis." he regards his foot gingerly
  323. Mar 31 19:20:14 <Kerosis> "It's what I'm here for. Didn't seem too deep, so that should be fine on its own if you keep it clean."
  324. Mar 31 19:20:48 <SqueeGM> (I'm pretty sure he should have lost that foot, but I'll let it slide for the first fight)
  325. Mar 31 19:21:06 <Lehkurehn> "I don't feel there is any need for more punishment officers. They are clearly repentant right?"
  326. Mar 31 19:21:31 <SqueeGM> (They aren't officers they're basically just soldiers.)
  327. Mar 31 19:21:45 <Lehkurehn> He eyes the two bandits
  328. Mar 31 19:22:50 <SqueeGM> The first Housedog stands guard as the other ties the bandits' hands behind their backs. "You may make that appeal to the father of the family, of-Kaliaxix. I wish you better luck than you had just now for the rest of your day."
  329. Mar 31 19:23:31 <Lehkurehn> "fair enough. Good day to you."
  330. Mar 31 19:23:45 <Kerosis> (took 3 damage wasn't it?)
  331. Mar 31 19:23:51 <Lehkurehn> yes
  332. Mar 31 19:24:01 <Lehkurehn> and one bleed?
  333. Mar 31 19:24:01 <Kerosis> (15% of 20 rounded up is... 4?)
  334. Mar 31 19:24:16 <SqueeGM> (nah, 3/20 is .15)
  335. Mar 31 19:24:22 <SqueeGM> (4 is 20%)
  336. Mar 31 19:24:50 <Kerosis> (wait, go me with basic math while multitasking)
  337. Mar 31 19:25:02 <SqueeGM> (well, .15 is 15%, 20 times .15 is 3)
  338. Mar 31 19:25:19 <SqueeGM> (so, yep)
  339. Mar 31 19:25:26 <SqueeGM> (but it's a bit late for that so oh well!)
  340. Mar 31 19:25:30 <SqueeGM> (i am going easy on you)
  341. Mar 31 19:25:37 <Kerosis> (fair enough)
  342. Mar 31 19:26:06 <SqueeGM> The female bandit gives Lehkurehn a pleading look as they are led away. It seems that Kerosis and Lehkurehn are free to resume their journey back home.
  343. Mar 31 19:26:33 <SqueeGM> Also, Lehkurehn is up four Kaliaxix pennies.
  344. Mar 31 19:26:45 * Lehkurehn hails the guards
  345. Mar 31 19:26:58 <SqueeGM> They stop. "Yes?"
  346. Mar 31 19:27:10 * Kerosis lends a shoulder to keep him from having to walk on what apparently is actually a nearly hacked off foot
  347. Mar 31 19:27:30 <Lehkurehn> "please take no action against them till word from the father."
  348. Mar 31 19:27:36 <SqueeGM> "Of course, of-Kaliaxix."
  349. Mar 31 19:27:56 <Lehkurehn> "thank you Kerosis. Let's go home."
  350. Mar 31 19:28:47 <SqueeGM> The trip home, while much longer on Lehkurehn's wounded foot, is relatively uneventful, and Hakohlixix opens the door for them when they arrive. He sees the bloody bandage wrapped around Lehkurehn's foot and winces. "It did not go well?"
  351. Mar 31 19:29:21 <Kerosis> "Bandits on the way back from the meeting."
  352. Mar 31 19:29:39 <SqueeGM> "Oh, that is unfortunate. You overpowered them?"
  353. Mar 31 19:29:50 * Lehkurehn winces
  354. Mar 31 19:30:39 <Kerosis> "Well no, not personally obviously."
  355. Mar 31 19:31:49 <Kerosis> "They were dealt with by locals from the house at the scene... is there any clean water handy?"
  356. Mar 31 19:32:04 <SqueeGM> "Ah, better luck next time. I'm told Lehkurehn is supposed to show you around the House now, but from the looks of that foot perhaps he had better get some rest. I will fetch you some water."
  357. Mar 31 19:32:54 <Lehkurehn> "How about something stronger than water?"
  358. Mar 31 19:33:10 <Kerosis> "Yes, alcohol would be better for it, really."
  359. Mar 31 19:33:33 <SqueeGM> "I see. I shall see if I can find some ale."
  360. Mar 31 19:33:54 <Kerosis> "Well, something more pure ideally."
  361. Mar 31 19:34:06 <SqueeGM> "Perhaps you should state what you desire, then."
  362. Mar 31 19:35:26 <Kerosis> "Sorry... I suppose the strongest you have available would do best. Just, pure alcohol... vodka, whiskey, things like that."
  363. Mar 31 19:36:09 <SqueeGM> "Hm. I suspect I shall have to bring you water. Alcohol is expensive, you know," he says reproachfully.
  364. Mar 31 19:36:10 <Lehkurehn> "I'd like some whisky, Wine for the lady," lehkurehn states dryly.
  365. Mar 31 19:36:58 * Lehkurehn sits ehxausted
  366. Mar 31 19:37:01 <SqueeGM> "Yes, very good, but it will be coming out of your pay," Hakohlixix retorts, and scurries off down a hallway.
  367. Mar 31 19:39:44 * Lehkurehn nods
  368. Mar 31 19:40:52 <SqueeGM> Nearly half an hour later, he returns with a strip of actual bandage, a bottle of wine and whiskey each, a crutch, and a bag full of coins, which he hands all to Kerosis. "The bag is your first payment. You should use it to get anything you may need for your services, and personalize your room. It will be next to Lehkurehn's, and I am sure he knows where he sleeps."
  369. Mar 31 19:41:18 <Kerosis> "Oh, thank you."
  370. Mar 31 19:41:35 * Kerosis does proper doctory wound cleaning/better bandaging.
  371. Mar 31 19:41:53 <SqueeGM> It is rather painful for Lehkurehn.
  372. Mar 31 19:42:07 * Lehkurehn drinks through the pain
  373. Mar 31 19:42:38 <SqueeGM> Hakohlixix resumes his post by the door, waiting for the two to leave.
  374. Mar 31 19:43:19 * Lehkurehn does so after kerosis finishes
  375. Mar 31 19:43:22 <Kerosis> "OK... so, where was that room then?"
  376. Mar 31 19:45:07 <Lehkurehn> Lehkurehn guides her to her room. "Here she is. Dinner is in an hour. Breakfast is at sunrise. if you sleep in it'll be cold."
  377. Mar 31 19:46:09 <Lehkurehn> "With that, I think I'll turn in early," Lehkurehn states cradling his bottle.
  378. Mar 31 19:46:11 <SqueeGM> The room is rather bare, containing only a shelf, a bed, a small table with a candle on it, and an alcove with a bathtub in it. The door is only half of an arch.
  379. Mar 31 19:47:36 * Kerosis nods, glances around, counts those coins.
  380. Mar 31 19:49:40 <SqueeGM> It comes out to one Kaliaxix coin, and five Kaliaxix pennies.
  381. Mar 31 19:49:59 <Kerosis> so 15 essentially?
  382. Mar 31 19:50:04 <Kerosis> or 105?
  383. Mar 31 19:50:50 <SqueeGM> (actually about 18)
  384. Mar 31 19:52:15 <SqueeGM> (But, strictly, you have no idea what its relative worth is without some Mercantilism. It's like being handed your paycheck in rubles.)
  385. Mar 31 19:52:22 * Lehkurehn sets aside the bottle half-finished. And writes down a note. Repay guards. Run finance changes with others. settle bandits with house-head tomorrow. find a spare shirt.
  386. Mar 31 19:52:34 <SqueeGM> (or perhaps farthings.)
  387. Mar 31 19:52:38 * Lehkurehn sleeps
  388. Mar 31 19:52:58 <Kerosis> ah
  389. Mar 31 19:54:39 <Kerosis> Right then. I suppose I'll take a bit to calm down, eat, sleep, and plan on going out shopping for proper medical supplies in the morning.
  390. Mar 31 19:55:08 <SqueeGM> 2#1d20
  391. Mar 31 19:55:08 <Dicey> SqueeGM, 2#1d20: 19 [1d20=19], 4 [1d20=4]
  392. Mar 31 19:56:27 <SqueeGM> The two of you enjoy your respective evenings, with Lehkurehn sleeping off his injury, and soon morning comes. Kerosis is the first to awake, to the morning light through her window.
  393. Mar 31 19:57:21 <Kerosis> Right then, take bath, get dressed, go eat, check on Lehk's foot.
  394. Mar 31 19:58:14 <SqueeGM> Lehkurehn awakes when Kerosis, freshly bathed and dressed, knocks on his door.
  395. Mar 31 19:59:00 <Lehkurehn> "huh? Who is it?"
  396. Mar 31 19:59:25 <Kerosis> "Kerosis. Just thought I'd double check that your foot recovering well."
  397. Mar 31 20:00:06 <Lehkurehn> "Aye."
  398. Mar 31 20:00:26 * Lehkurehn dresses and exits his room
  399. Mar 31 20:02:07 <Kerosis> "I do have to wonder why my room seems to lack a door..."
  400. Mar 31 20:02:15 <SqueeGM> (It does, it's just shaped like half an arch.)
  401. Mar 31 20:02:19 <SqueeGM> (So is Lehkurehn's.)
  402. Mar 31 20:02:19 <Kerosis> ah
  403. Mar 31 20:02:24 <Kerosis> strike that then
  404. Mar 31 20:02:31 <SqueeGM> Shall the two of you head into town, or will Lehkurehn collect his cold breakfast first?
  405. Mar 31 20:02:43 <Kerosis> Eating tends to be a good idea.
  406. Mar 31 20:03:21 <Lehkurehn> cold breakfast, request to handle the bandit problem personally, then into town.
  407. Mar 31 20:05:22 <Lehkurehn> (hmm... chat deletes after a point. should of saved that stuff. : ( )
  408. Mar 31 20:05:27 <SqueeGM> (I'm logging)
  409. Mar 31 20:05:38 <Lehkurehn> (cool beans)
  410. Mar 31 20:06:12 <SqueeGM> Lehkurehn has his audience with the father of the family, during which Kerosis stands by awkwardly, and he grants his request to met out the punishment he sees fit, since it was he who was attacked. However, he does note that the bandit who is killed will likely be made into a corpsebound, and made more... productive.
  411. Mar 31 20:07:14 * Lehkurehn graciously accepts his judgment.
  412. Mar 31 20:07:17 <SqueeGM> Then the two of them set off back down the road to the town, Lehkurehn limping along on his crutch.
  413. Mar 31 20:07:21 <Kerosis> (Execution IS a weird punishment when everyone comes back, isn't it.)
  414. Mar 31 20:07:34 <SqueeGM> (well, you can always burn the corpse)
  415. Mar 31 20:07:58 <SqueeGM> (I imagine being burnt at the stake is the worst punishment tombdog society can offer)
  416. Mar 31 20:08:29 <Lehkurehn> (Death is like a steep fine)
  417. Mar 31 20:08:44 <Kerosis> "Well, I suppose if we're attacked by bandits today, there'll be something to give them at least."
  418. Mar 31 20:08:44 <SqueeGM> (p. much)
  419. Mar 31 20:09:22 <Lehkurehn> "A piece of my mind," lehkurehn retorts.
  420. Mar 31 20:10:23 <SqueeGM> Is there anything in particular Kerosis is looking for with her money?
  421. Mar 31 20:10:32 <Kerosis> hmm
  422. Mar 31 20:10:59 <Kerosis> mortar & pestle, needles, thread, saw, extra bandages, bag to keep it all in, very sharp knives?
  423. Mar 31 20:12:03 <SqueeGM> Ok then, roll four d20s.
  424. Mar 31 20:12:10 <Lehkurehn> I'll buy a shirt
  425. Mar 31 20:12:10 <Kerosis> 1d20
  426. Mar 31 20:12:10 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 9 [1d20=9]
  427. Mar 31 20:12:12 <Kerosis> 1d20
  428. Mar 31 20:12:13 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 12 [1d20=12]
  429. Mar 31 20:12:13 <Kerosis> 1d20
  430. Mar 31 20:12:13 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 14 [1d20=14]
  431. Mar 31 20:12:14 <Kerosis> 1d20
  432. Mar 31 20:12:14 <Dicey> Kerosis, 1d20: 10 [1d20=10]
  433. Mar 31 20:12:38 <Kerosis> or as much of that as I can actually afford, at any rate
  434. Mar 31 20:14:25 <SqueeGM> Unfortunately, there's no alchemist in town, so a mortar and pestle seems out of reach. However, there is a blacksmith where you can find needles and a saw, a weaver to buy thread from, and of course a clothier where you can buy bags, shirts, and probably bandages.
  435. Mar 31 20:14:29 <SqueeGM> Which do you go to first?
  436. Mar 31 20:14:55 <Kerosis> clothier I suppose
  437. Mar 31 20:15:33 <SqueeGM> Lehkurehn leads Kerosis to the shop of the clothier under House Kaliaxix's employ, who greets him warmly when they enter. "Greetings, of-Kaliaxix! How may I help you today?"
  438. Mar 31 20:17:12 <Lehkurehn> "Greetings given. I am in need of a shirt, colour neutral and whatever she would like."
  439. Mar 31 20:17:16 <Kerosis> "I don't suppose you happen to have a doctor's bag handy? Thick and sturdy, the sort of thing that can securely transport sharp delicate instruments?"
  440. Mar 31 20:18:31 <SqueeGM> The clothier glances at Lehkurehn worriedly. "Color neutral, of-Kaliaxix? Do you mean Kaliaxix colors, or no colors at all?"
  441. Mar 31 20:21:03 <Lehkurehn> (don't know what color I should pick. Town color, no color, house kaliaxix? It's for the bandit.)
  442. Mar 31 20:22:12 <SqueeGM> (Probably a random color that isn't anybody's.)
  443. Mar 31 20:24:16 <Lehkurehn> (random color generator says 'wheat')
  444. Mar 31 20:24:40 <Lehkurehn> "that looks fine."
  445. Mar 31 20:25:42 <SqueeGM> The clothier nods. "Shall I size you?"
  446. Mar 31 20:27:27 <Lehkurehn> "Umm... it might be more her size." lehkurehn regards kerosis confused.
  447. Mar 31 20:28:03 <SqueeGM> "Okay. And as for your bag, I should have something like that. What will you pay for both items?"
  448. Mar 31 20:30:01 * Kerosis pulls some coins out. "Oh, and a veil of some sort would be nice as well."
  449. Mar 31 20:30:10 <Kerosis> (gotta block that miasma)
  450. Mar 31 20:31:05 * Lehkurehn offers three for the shirt
  451. Mar 31 20:31:22 <SqueeGM> The clothier nods. "For Kaliaxix... perhaps seven pennies altogether would be appropriate?"
  452. Mar 31 20:32:03 * Kerosis nods and pulls out 4.
  453. Mar 31 20:32:27 * Lehkurehn puts down three
  454. Mar 31 20:34:00 <SqueeGM> The clothier sweeps the pennies into his hand, his mouth hanging open and his tongue lolling out, and excuses himself into the back. He comes back with a leather bag for Kerosis, and a veil, and some tools for making measurements. He sizes Kerosis up in short order, and nods. "Come back later in the day, I should have it completed."
  455. Mar 31 20:34:47 <Kerosis> "Thank you."
  456. Mar 31 20:34:58 <Lehkurehn> "where to next?"
  457. Mar 31 20:35:55 <Kerosis> "Well, I'll need some needles, and ideally a scalpel of some sort... a saw for dealing with the nastier things. So, to the blacksmith I suppose."
  458. Mar 31 20:36:36 * Lehkurehn leads the way
  459. Mar 31 20:37:23 <SqueeGM> The Kaliaxix blacksmith is hammering something into shape when they come under his tarp, and he barely glances up at them. "Stranger-greetings given, of-Kaliaxix. Is there something you need?"
  460. Mar 31 20:38:31 <Kerosis> "Yes, I seem to be the new doctor in town so... I'll need a sewing needle, a saw, and... I don't suppose you'd have a proper scalpel about. A sharp knife at any rate?"
  461. Mar 31 20:39:14 <Kerosis> "Hopefully this'll be enough to cover things." Taking out yon remaining... 2 coins I believe.
  462. Mar 31 20:40:12 <SqueeGM> (1 penny and a coin)
  463. Mar 31 20:41:01 <Kerosis> indeed
  464. Mar 31 20:41:08 <SqueeGM> The blacksmith raises an eyebrow at her, amused. "Yes, I should have those things, although I don't know what a 'scalpel' is. Is the knife for fighting with or preparing food?"
  465. Mar 31 20:42:09 <Kerosis> "I suppose a kitchen knife is closer, so long as it's sharp and easy to clean."
  466. Mar 31 20:44:37 <SqueeGM> (gimme a sec)
  467. Mar 31 20:46:07 <Kerosis> (although in fairness, I believe in a typical medieval type setting, you'd use the same big ol' dagger for cutting up both steak AND people you don't like)
  468. Mar 31 20:46:29 <SqueeGM> "Okay, I can have that for you right away." He stops hammering. "Give me, let's see... three Kaliaxix pennies and a Lefixix penny?"
  469. Mar 31 20:46:42 <SqueeGM> (if you were a peasant, maybe)
  470. Mar 31 20:47:20 * Kerosis holds up what she has. "I believe that leaves me a little short then..."
  471. Mar 31 20:48:31 <Lehkurehn> (don't you just need change?)
  472. Mar 31 20:48:32 <Kerosis> "I suppose I can do without the saw for now."
  473. Mar 31 20:48:44 <Kerosis> (honestly, no clue in character)
  474. Mar 31 20:48:45 <SqueeGM> "Ah, no, the coin will more than cover everything."
  475. Mar 31 20:48:57 <Kerosis> "Oh. Well OK then!"
  476. Mar 31 20:49:19 <Lehkurehn> "you don't seem to do well with money, eh?"
  477. Mar 31 20:50:04 <SqueeGM> He takes it and hands you back a Lefixix penny, along with a full set of kitchen utensils, a sewing kit, and a bonesaw.
  478. Mar 31 20:50:43 <Kerosis> "Not entirely familiar with the local currency no... and thank you."
  479. Mar 31 20:51:39 <Lehkurehn> (is that the right change? what is the exchange rates?)
  480. Mar 31 20:51:44 <Kerosis> "Oh, and I don't suppose I could get a metal cup of some kind?"
  481. Mar 31 20:51:48 <SqueeGM> (Mercantilism?)
  482. Mar 31 20:52:10 <Lehkurehn> 3d6+1 spiceandwolf
  483. Mar 31 20:52:10 <Dicey> Lehkurehn, spiceandwolf: 15 [3d6=6,4,4]
  484. Mar 31 20:52:15 <Kerosis> heh
  485. Mar 31 20:53:29 <SqueeGM> Lehkurehn points out that Kerosis is shortchanging her with the Lefixix penny, which is nearly worthless here. He apologizes for the mixup and hands her back an Asixhredn penny in addition, as well as a cup for free.
  486. Mar 31 20:53:38 <SqueeGM> Kerosis is being shortchanged*
  487. Mar 31 20:53:55 <Lehkurehn> acceptable.
  488. Mar 31 20:55:04 <Lehkurehn> "anywhere else we need to be?"
  489. Mar 31 20:56:11 <Kerosis> "That about covers it, other than finding some thread, and picking up that shirt."
  490. Mar 31 20:57:23 * Lehkurehn tries to explain the local money on the way to the weaver
  491. Mar 31 20:58:11 <SqueeGM> Kerosis doubts she'll ever be as good as Lehkurehn with it, but nonetheless gains some idea of its relative worth.
  492. Mar 31 20:58:53 <SqueeGM> When they enter the shop of the only weaver in town, they see two tombdogs standing inside already. They're both in House Asixhredn colors, Kaliaxix's main rival.
  493. Mar 31 20:58:54 <SqueeGM> 3d6
  494. Mar 31 20:58:54 <Dicey> SqueeGM, 3d6: 11 [3d6=2,4,5]
  495. Mar 31 20:59:03 <SqueeGM> Lehkruhen thinks he recognizes one of them from the docks.
  496. Mar 31 20:59:54 <Lehkurehn> "Greetings Of-Asixhredn."
  497. Mar 31 21:00:47 <Lehkurehn> (I should sleep soon. It's 11 here.)
  498. Mar 31 21:00:48 <SqueeGM> They glance back at him. "Greetings offered, of-Kaliaxix," one of them says, before turning back to the weaver. The other folds his arms across his chest and grins at Lehkurehn.
  499. Mar 31 21:01:25 <Kerosis> (go go not-human social gestures)
  500. Mar 31 21:01:55 * Lehkurehn offput by the gesture but attends to kerosis.
  501. Mar 31 21:02:10 * Kerosis just tries to ignore both and buy some thread
  502. Mar 31 21:03:27 <Kerosis> well, friendly hello and duck past to the counter ignore, not ignore ignore
  503. Mar 31 21:04:15 <SqueeGM> The weaver is busy chatting with the first of-Asixhredn, so the other continues to watch them while they all wait, looking bored.
  504. Mar 31 21:04:45 <Lehkurehn> what are they saying?
  505. Mar 31 21:06:06 <SqueeGM> They seem to be chatting about an order of cloth for House Asixhredn.
  506. Mar 31 21:07:01 <SqueeGM> After a while, the first tombdog places a sack of coins on the counter for the weaverdog, who accepts them, and the two leave, though not without the other giving Lehkurehn a nasty look.
  507. Mar 31 21:08:10 * Lehkurehn waves and smirks
  508. Mar 31 21:08:34 <SqueeGM> The weaverdog coughs. "Can I help you, of-Kaliaxix?"
  509. Mar 31 21:10:23 <Kerosis> "Yes, I was hoping to get a spool of thread?"
  510. Mar 31 21:11:19 <SqueeGM> He gives her an odd look. "Just one, eh? Alright."
  511. Mar 31 21:12:00 <SqueeGM> "That'll be about a penny."
  512. Mar 31 21:12:56 <Kerosis> "Well, more couldn't hurt I suppose."
  513. Mar 31 21:13:16 * Kerosis tosses what's left of her cash over and stocks up
  514. Mar 31 21:13:38 <Kerosis> actually wait, scratch all that
  515. Mar 31 21:13:53 <Kerosis> forgot I still need to save for spare bandages that'll actually see usage
  516. Mar 31 21:14:12 <Kerosis> Revised: "Well, I hope to make it last."
  517. Mar 31 21:14:56 <SqueeGM> (same amount of money?)
  518. Mar 31 21:15:43 <Kerosis> (well, here I actually want change)
  519. Mar 31 21:16:03 <SqueeGM> (k)
  520. Mar 31 21:16:39 <SqueeGM> The weaverdog flicks back all her pennies except for the Lefixix one, and hands her a spool of tombdog thread.
  521. Mar 31 21:17:10 <Kerosis> "Thank you. Well, back to the tailor's then."
  522. Mar 31 21:17:32 <Lehkurehn> "aye"
  523. Mar 31 21:18:14 <SqueeGM> The clothier seems surprised to see them back so early. "Yes? I'm sorry, I haven't finished it yet."
  524. Mar 31 21:18:37 <Lehkurehn> "you mind waiting?"
  525. Mar 31 21:20:33 <Kerosis> "No, that's fine."
  526. Mar 31 21:21:03 <Kerosis> "Oh, and do you happen to have any strips of cloth for bandages?"
  527. Mar 31 21:21:26 <SqueeGM> "Sure. One penny."
  528. Mar 31 21:21:42 <Kerosis> now here, I'll buy in bulk
  529. Mar 31 21:23:00 <SqueeGM> The weaverdog hands her back a pound of bandages for her money.
  530. Mar 31 21:23:17 <SqueeGM> 1d20+4
  531. Mar 31 21:23:17 <Dicey> SqueeGM, 1d20+4: 12 [1d20=8]
  532. Mar 31 21:23:33 <SqueeGM> 3d6+4 *
  533. Mar 31 21:23:33 <Dicey> SqueeGM, *: 9 [3d6=1,1,3]
  534. Mar 31 21:24:04 <SqueeGM> er, clothierdog*
  535. Mar 31 21:24:51 <SqueeGM> They spend the next few hours waiting around while the clothier finishes sewing up the shirt and dyes it, then a few hours more while the dye dries. It's the afternoon when they finally finish gambling over the Kaliaxix penny and receive the shirt.
  536. Mar 31 21:27:10 <SqueeGM> (After that, I suppose they head back and the session ends there?)
  537. Mar 31 21:27:17 * Lehkurehn thanks the clothierdog
  538. Mar 31 21:27:23 <SqueeGM> (Or wait, the prisoners)
  539. Mar 31 21:27:31 * Lehkurehn heads to the prison-equivalent.
  540. Mar 31 21:27:32 <SqueeGM> "It was nothing, of-Kaliaxix."
  541. Mar 31 21:27:50 <Lehkurehn> (we can end here and pick back up next session)
  542. Mar 31 21:27:59 <SqueeGM> (fair enough)
