  14. [2012-08-01 13:00:54] <Kkat> 3We devour the events of the present like starving children. Our experiences nourish us, fill us. But then, all too, often, we forget about the meal once it is over, giving it no further heed or contemplation to suppers long past.
  15. [2012-08-01 13:01:04] <Kkat> 3But history, like the punga, leaves its seeds.
  16. [2012-08-01 13:01:25] <Kkat> 3Gaia Valley’s history had seeds whose roots ran deep. In the last months of the war, Solaris strove to create an alternate solution to revitalizing Equestria in the wake of a megaspell apocalypse.
  17. [2012-08-01 13:01:33] <Kkat> 3Their solution was a plant created to feed on the toxins and magical radiation that would poison Equestria in the aftermath of such an attack. A plant magically engineered to grow and spread voraciously, to take root everywhere there was radiation and cleanse it.
  18. [2012-08-01 13:01:50] <Kkat> 3In order to test their creation, Solaris first had to imitate the conditions of a post-apocalyptic Equestria. And they did so by detonating a zebra balefire bomb in the heart of the geographically enclosed Gaia Valley. Where and how they procured this weapon is still unknown.
  19. [2012-08-01 13:02:07] <Kkat> 3The apocalypse did come.
  20. [2012-08-01 13:02:17] <Kkat> 3The employees of the Solaris research facility at the edge of the valley took shelter in the bowels of their building, hiding from the devastation that tried to end the world. Over a generation later, they emerged to find not devistation but an isolated paradise.
  21. [2012-08-01 13:02:25] <Kkat> 3Solaris’ experiment was a success; and in fate’s twisted sense of irony, Gaia Valley had become an oasis in the wasteland.
  22. [2012-08-01 13:02:42] <Kkat> 3What had once been workers within different departments of the Solaris facility and evolved into separate tribes. For a while, those tribes were peaceful towards each other. But strangers found their way into the valley.
  23. [2012-08-01 13:02:51] <Kkat> 3At first, friendly explorers. But later, representatives of Red Eye’s slaver empire reached out, forging an alliance with one of the tribes, the White Hooves, and giving them the means to conquer the others. The White Hooves turned on the other tribes, intent on taking the valley for themselves and giving those they did not kill to Red Eye as slaves.
  24. [2012-08-01 13:03:05] <Kkat> 3The other tribes banded together and fought back. And when Red Eye was defeated, the White Hooves’ outside support evaporated. The other tribe won, and although not all survived, they broke the White Hooves and drove them from Gaia Valley.
  25. [2012-08-01 13:03:24] <Kkat> 3But this was not enough to save Gaia Valley. The alliance between Red Eye and the White Hooves was noticed by the Enclave. The Enclave’s original plot against the valley and its inhabitants didn’t survive the tides of war.
  26. [2012-08-01 13:03:37] <Kkat> 3But years later, when the pegasi civil war had shifted, driving the Enclave and those loyal to them into retreat, the Enclave once again turned an eye to Gaia Valley. This time, as a refuge.
  27. [2012-08-01 13:03:54] <Kkat> 3The Enclave descended on Gaia Valley in great force. But the valley was not without its defenders. A band now called The Heroes of the North stood between the Enclave and the tribals of the valley. And it is because of them that any survived.
  28. [2012-08-01 13:04:05] <Kkat> 3But they could not hold back the Enclave, and eventually chose to shield the tribes as they evacuated the valley that had been their home for nearly two hundred years.
  29. [2012-08-01 13:04:15] <Kkat> 3Today, more than twenty years later, small bands of Enclave Loyalists still use Gaia Valley as a save haven and a base from which to conduct raids and stockpile in the vain hope of a future return to glory.
  30. [2012-08-01 13:04:36] <Kkat> 3But there was at least one more seed planted in the history of Gaia Valley: that of the punga itself. Designed to be Equestria’s salvation, the punga was a plague in plant form. One that would blanket the land, choking the life out of every rival, slaughtering every creature that has been exposed to radiation – and that was all of them.
  31. [2012-08-01 13:04:47] <Kkat> 3If the punga escaped its enclosed environment, it would spread like a disease, causing the extinction of countless species, including the ponies of Equestria.
  32. [2012-08-01 13:05:00] <Kkat> 3The punga did get out. But before it could spread, the Gardens of Equestria purged the land of the very radiation that the punga needed to survive. The new Bearers of the Elements never knew the ecological holocaust that they prevented.
  33. [2012-08-01 13:05:17] <Kkat> 3Only in the strange muds and waters of the Froggy Bottom Bog and Lookout Plateau did the punga survive – and only then because they were mutated by their environment beyond anything that Solaris would have recognized as their hoofwork.
  34. [2012-08-01 13:05:31] <Kkat> 3Now, our heroes stand at the center of the very last seed planted by the Solaris legacy, as they journey deeper into the Solaris Research & Execution North facility, hunted by the last surviving member of an Enclave Loyalist squad.

  36. [2012-08-01 13:06:03] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart breaths the briefest sigh of relief before the detonation behind her reaches her ears followed by the sound of gunfire in the stairwell behind her.
  37. [2012-08-01 13:06:10] <Kkat> 3She turns her head, only to see blasts of energy and the sudden return fire from her companions – return fire that sends the flying turrets spiraling from the sky in a shower of sparks, debris and chaos.
  38. [2012-08-01 13:06:17] <Kkat> 3Spending only a moment to levitate the magical energy mine she had just disabled to one of her companions, Noble_Heart calls back, “Someone with skill in explosives take this. We are going on ahead.”
  39. [2012-08-01 13:06:24] <Kkat> 3With that, Noble Heart rushes forwards, throwing the door to the basement open with her telekinesis, intent on finding the pegasus who was attacking them. The light of her horn pierces the darkness, revealing the two additional magical energy mines that their fleeing hunter had left in his wake.

She stood in place with her hooves planted doing her best to prepare for what was likely to be a very unpleasant (and possibly fatal) experience the moment the mines detonated on the other side of that door.   64. [2012-08-01 13:32:03] * Crescendo_ sneaks back up the stairs, oblivious to what is happening below. He'd hidden from them before, so hopefully he could check for more of those robots to give the group some advanced warning.

  66. [2012-08-01 13:32:55] <Noble_Heart> "RUN!" She really couldn't put it in simpler words, could she? She knew that normal ponies were somewhat slower than her blessed kind, but she had hoped they would pick up on the idea of evacuating a soon to be exploded area.

  68. [2012-08-01 13:36:25] <Kkat> 3The magical energy mines detonate on the opposite side of the door, releasing furious, destructive light and force. The door is blown off its hinges, surrounded in swirling green and blue flame. The metal door dissolves before crashing into Noble_Heart's shield.

[2012-08-01 13:48:24] * Noble_Heart stood in place the briefest moments as her shield flared violently against the flames, the powerful arcane detonation sweeping within her protective shell and scorching her coat and flesh. By the time the green light died out the alicorn was looking much less regal and much more in pain. Smoke rose from large, obvious burns across her flesh as she wobbled on her hooves.
  82. [2012-08-01 13:48:25] * Noble_Heart "We. Will not... Fail... Our-" she doesn't even have the strength to finish her own defiant statement, collapsing to the ground and panting for breath as she struggles to stay out of the pit of shock and agony.
  83. [2012-08-01 13:49:19] * Kid watches as she takes the brunt of it and was very silent for a moment. No. Nonono. Nopony... Nopony gets to hurt anyone. No. That's not how it was supposed to go! She was supposed to be a... I mean, she wasn't supposed to go and blow herself up! That wasn't the plan! She attempted to crawl out from under Mitzi, grateful for her presence. "Get! Get Lost, get yer skinny flank over here right...
  84. [2012-08-01 13:49:19] * Crescendo_ swears loudly as his backside is lightly cooked by unexpected scorching magical wind. Very sneaky.
  85. [2012-08-01 13:49:20] * Kid ...now!" She gripped her shotgun tightly. Her eye went wild and angry. She ran down to the alicorn and attempted to take point.

[2012-08-01 13:51:45] * Bookwright reaches the bottom of the stairs and, whilst not being well versed in combat, knows enough to sweep the room beyond while the others are preoccupied with tending to his fellow Follower. The magical energy pistol floating besides him twitches and jerks excitedly, as if seeking to continue the fight on its own.

She was muttering something under her breath over and over, too quiet to be understood. Her spells had dissipated from the sheer shock of the harm she sustained, the poor Alicorn struggling to hold on to consciousness.

Her voice was practically a whisper when she spoke, despite its usual power and projection. "We followed... Enclave pegasus... Angry. Mines belong to him. Down here. Hiding. Dangerous." Now that the adrenaline of combat and the unthinking reflexes trained into him by his parents and later, the followers, has faded. He feels jittery, disconnected, and a little bewildered now that his first genuine combat is over.

  111. [2012-08-01 14:10:01] <Kkat> 3Beyond the much-widened doorway is a hall that runs left, delving into blackness. Colored smoke curls through the air, filling the visible part of the hall and the bottom of the stairwell in a wavering haze.

  114. [2012-08-01 14:12:58] * Noble_Heart reached out with her magic to float the healing potion to her lips, slowly downing it as she climbed back to her hooves. "We thank you for your help." Letting the magic of the bandages and potion heal her wounds. "We are sorry that We were injured such. It is to Our embarassment that such a thing might happen." She slowly shook her head. "We will fight to protect you ponies

  119. [2012-08-01 14:17:19] * Noble_Heart steps forwards towards the, now wider, doorway. In a moment her horn glowed as the brilliance of her shield encompassed her once again, levitating the golf club from the ground where it had fallen. "We will lead the way, lest one of you ponies is injured in Our abscence." She was already moving into the scorched room to search for signs of where the pegasus had gone.
  120. [2012-08-01 14:18:05] * Kid spots the large doorway and scans the visible area in the doorway. "If ya'll do that, then I can't shoot 'em through your shield. Naw. I have t' be up there too."
  121. [2012-08-01 14:19:30] * Mitzi smiles at Kid, then looks to Noble; "Uh hav tu be up close tu. Laser guns not fixed yet, so Uh have tu use ur claws."
  122. [2012-08-01 14:20:04] * Bookwright falls into step besides Noble_Heart. "You're a darned sight too eager to get yourself hurt instead of one of us for my liking. Just what is your deal, Miss Heart? I'm out here to preserve history before it is lost, what task have you put on yourself?"
  123. [2012-08-01 14:20:26] <Kkat> 3Bookwright thinks he spots movement in the darkness... but it could just be the swirling smoke.
  124. [2012-08-01 14:20:47] * Crescendo_ drinks a potion to ease his sore behind, then heads downstairs to join the others.
  125. [2012-08-01 14:23:00] * Bookwright 's eyes narrow, and his floating pistol twitches more animatedly. "I think... I think I just saw something... Keep an eye out!"
  126. [2012-08-01 14:25:14] * Kid , on a better day, would've pretended to be offended by that. Right now, she's too busy trying to get this pony. "Ya'll hurry up! We got a pony that needs some justice done to 'em?"

Apparently that was all the answer she was going to give. "We would not forgive Ourselves if innocent ponies were left to suffer because We ignored their plight! The Goddess mistook selfishness for friendship and sought to make all ponies part of Her. We
  130. [2012-08-01 14:26:02] * Noble_Heart will not forget that ponies need Our help, but as Our friends." She doesn't complain about the others staying close though. It's actually kindof reassuring. She moves into the smoke slowly.
  131. [2012-08-01 14:26:57] * Noble_Heart pauses to levitate a set of three healing potions from one of her bags and offers them to Get Lost. "We have brought supplies on Our journey. Will they aid you in helping Our new friends?"
  132. [2012-08-01 14:28:54] * Get_Lost weakly nods "i guess i'l ltake one, thanks... and i think that also kid needs some help...." trots towards kid "here, drink this"
  133. [2012-08-01 14:29:32] * Kid grits her teeth. "This bugger's jus' wantin' t' taste some smokeless powder." She's pretty willing to taste some potion. Mmm. Strawberry.
  134. [2012-08-01 14:29:47] * Crescendo_ whistles at the scene of destruction. "Wow, guess that boom wasn't just my overactive imagination." Seeing Get_Lost stagger, he rushes over to try and help. "I guess we didn't get away scot-free either."
  135. [2012-08-01 14:30:53] * Bookwright suddenly remembers he's toting along a deactivated magical energy mine. "Does anypony want this thing? I can't make heads or tails of it."
  136. [2012-08-01 14:31:00] * Get_Lost givs back to Noble_Heart the third potion "thank you"
