  1. Session Start: Sat May 12 20:06:59 2012
  2. Session Ident: #EternalWar
  3. 03[20:06] * Now talking in #EternalWar
  4. 03[20:58] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  5. 03[21:01] * Bennie is now known as Brother_Ezekiah
  6. 03[21:03] * Mir (chatzilla@AFA1B095.F3569AE.69A6B287.IP) has joined #EternalWar
  7. 03[21:03] * Mir is now known as Horace
  8. 01[21:05] <Staffen> A day has passed since your expedition to Guytoga ended. You were all picked up from the planet and returned to the ship, only to be returned to your cells. At least this time the guards left you with your belongings.
  9. 01[21:06] <Staffen> In all it has been four days since you were dropped planetside, and no comment of an antidote for your poisoning has been made. You have still been fed the same algae meals.
  10. 01[21:06] <Staffen> Now, however, it is lunch-time, and the tedious pace is changed when the guards open up your cells and motion for you to follow them out -- they invite, it seems, rather than coerce.
  11. 06[21:07] * Petrus follows the guard out of his cell
  12. 06[21:08] * Horace stands from his seat on the floor corner and follows, eyes shifting slowly but incessantly behind his sunglasses
  13. 06[21:09] * Varian rises from the corner his cell, following the guard while stating, "I heard some terribly loud screaming down the hall the other day. I almost lost some sleep over it."
  14. [21:09] <Horace> "Hard to sleep without it."
  15. [21:10] <Brother_Ezekiah> When the guard found Brother Ezekiah, the redemptionist would be scourging himself. They let him keep his gear and he had gotten a scoriada planet side at some point. "We are all sinners!" He'd cry out before the leather instrument would strike his back. "We must all be punished!" Already, great welts were on his back from his flagellation. "We must be redeemed!" It was only after he was done...
  16. [21:10] <Brother_Ezekiah> that he would join the others.
  17. 01[21:11] <Staffen> The guard simply shrugs to Varian. "Business," he says, watching his fellow try to coax Ezekiah from his room. "You lot have been summoned to the upper-decks. We'll show you the way."
  18. [21:12] <Petrus> "Finally we'll be put in some proper quarters."
  19. 06[21:13] * Horace follows along ponderously at the rear, eyes taking in his surroundings
  20. 01[21:13] <Staffen> "No promises, fancy-hat," one of the guards quips, slinging his hellgun over his shoulder.
  21. 06[21:14] * Brother_Ezekiah is wearing his shield robes, with that same eagle nosed mask. Hood up, his tongue lowls out, and he licks his stubble covered chin in religious ecstasy. "... it was written... if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't count!"
  22. 01[21:15] <Staffen> The group marches you along the corridor. The windows that looked out onto space have been shuttered closed. You are shown onto a lift and taken up several decks, whereupon the guards continue.
  23. 06[21:17] * Varian follows after them once more.
  24. 01[21:18] <Staffen> The atmosphere is notably more comfortable here. The floor panels are carpeted in a bright red material that softens your footsteps and the walls bear various bits of decor. The guards eventually stop you at a room with a sign beside the door: "LOUNGE-01"
  25. 06[21:18] * Brother_Ezekiah would try to strike up a conversation with the guards. "You should have seen it! The purging of the scum and sinners of the underhive! The unbelievers! Their blood flowed like thick wine across the gutters! Libation only fit for the Emperor!
  26. 01[21:21] <Staffen> The lead guard pulls out a cognomen and slips it over the door panel. "You're expected in here," he says.
  27. 06[21:23] * Brother_Ezekiah would go in, frowning that the guard didn't talk to him about such glorious purgings. He'd mark that down as suspect. FOR SIN!
  28. 01[21:23] <Staffen> The door slides open and instantly you're greeted with the sound of laughter.
  29. [21:24] <Varian> Varian turns his head to Ezekiah for a moment and whispers, "Sinful Laughter?"
  30. 01[21:25] <Staffen> "... The idiot slipped on the mess and fell smack onto his arse!" one voice says over the laughing.
  31. [21:27] <Brother_Ezekiah> "It is certainly not righteous laughter!"
  32. 01[21:27] <Staffen> Inside, you find a long room styled like a restaurant. Racks of various forms of alcohol line the walls behind a bar marble-topped bar. At the far-end of the room is a squared booth-seat occupied by several people.
  33. 01[21:28] <Staffen> One of them -- who you recognize as the head laborer from the lander -- spots you. "Come on in, gents!" he shouts as the others continue to laugh.
  34. 06[21:28] * Varian smiles
  35. [21:28] <Petrus> "This is more like it."
  36. 06[21:29] * Petrus walks into the room looking for someone to take his coat and items
  37. 06[21:29] * Horace quickly withdraws from the group and goes to hide in the corner, brooding mysteriously like a cloaked stranger man possibly with a dark past but also probably not
  38. 06[21:30] * Brother_Ezekiah looks around. His frown deepening. "I will not abide to stay in such a filthy den of sin!"
  39. 06[21:30] * Varian walks forward, happy to abide such a filthy den of sin.
  40. 06[21:31] * Brother_Ezekiah grabs Varian by his collar. "Brother! On good conscious, I can not let you venture any further! The lustful temptations of sin must be resisted!"
  41. 01[21:32] <Staffen> Attempting to lean inconspicuously against the wall on the opposite side of the room is the looming, statuesque figure of an armored giant. His face his a skull with glowing eyes and his war plate is black and trimmed in gold. Holy icons hang from his neck and belt. He glares down at you watchfully.
  42. 06[21:33] * Horace goes to lean next to him, mimicking his stance against the wall
  43. 06[21:33] * Varian brushes off the hand. "I have resisted such temptations before. Do not worry on my account holy man."
  44. 01[21:34] <Staffen> A deep rumble emanates from the giant. "You are not afraid," the giant says to Horace. "I can't recall the last time a civilian looked upon me and did not hesitate."
  45. 06[21:35] * Brother_Ezekiah frowns just a bit more, finds the most uncomfortable looking chair he can, and sits right in it. Arms crossed, his face so grim and stern, it's nothing less then a miracle that it hasn't shattered. "There are no heroes left in MAN!"
  46. 06[21:35] * Horace looks to the giant man and offers him a single straight, white lho stick
  47. 01[21:36] <Staffen> The giant cocks his head back and laughs. "I do not smoke." He taps a single gauntleted finger against his skull mask. He nods across to the other side of the room. "You're wanted over there, though."
  48. 01[21:36] <Staffen> Indeed, the others in the booth have grown silent, and are looking at you expectantly.
  49. 06[21:37] * Petrus removes his hat "Petrus Cain."
  50. 06[21:37] * Horace cocks his head at the man and lurches over to the other group, stopping only at what could be considered politely the edge of the social gathering
  51. [21:37] <Horace> "Horace. ...Just call me that."
  52. [21:37] <Brother_Ezekiah> "I will not give out my name to those that would so eagerly sin and debase mind, body, and soul."
  53. 01[21:38] <Staffen> "Glad to meet you, Pet!" one of the people -- a skinny man in Guard fatigues -- pipes up. The others, save for two women sitting close together, start shouting agreements.
  54. 06[21:38] * Varian eyes the alcoholic merchandise arrayed about while stating his name, "Varian Gentlemen, Ladies."
  55. 01[21:38] <Staffen> "You remember me, Horace, Varian?" the head laborer asks. "You did good down on Guytoga, you lot."
  56. 06[21:38] * Petrus smiles at the ladies
  57. 06[21:39] * Horace gives an acknowledging nod to the Laborer Foreman
  58. [21:39] <Varian> "Perhaps you also remember a certain bottle we discussed?"
  59. [21:39] <Horace> "I was assuming at least one person we met was our contact."'
  60. [21:40] <Brother_Ezekiah> "The partaking of alcohol should be only limited to sacred rituals of the Emperor and toasting the success of a mighty purge!"
  61. 06[21:41] * Horace elbows Ezekiah gently
  62. [21:42] <Horace> "Psst, we purged a cult."
  63. 01[21:43] <Staffen> One of the women, a brunette in rich greens and glinting gold jewellery, pushes a tall bottle towards Varian. "Amasec, Lord Sark. Kuluthian Master's Reserve, vintage 256.M41. Your request wasn't ignored."
  64. [21:43] <Brother_Ezekiah> "But one cult!" He starts to gesticulate. "NO! Spirits should only be spilled when you have cleansed a whole sector of the underhive of the unclean filfth that calls it home! The mutant, the scav, the heretic!" He stands up and points a finger into Horace's face. "Only then may you celebrate, for you have removed a dark stain from the soul of humanity and brought great praise from the Emperor!"
  65. 06[21:44] * Horace looks about, and begins to smoke the lho stick he offered to the armored giant with a long, sighing drag
  66. 01[21:45] <Staffen> The other woman sits forward. She is red-haired, pale, and has a somewhat discomforting stare. "You should relax yourself, Ezekiah. Even Chaplain Moerchen over there is content to indulge in fun from time to time."
  67. 06[21:45] * Varian moves over to the bottle, tracing a hand over its curved outline, while smiling to the woman, "Then you have my most sincere thanks and gratitude. I did not catch your name mademoiselle?"
  68. 06[21:46] * Brother_Ezekiah continues to point at Horace, waiting for a reaction from the arbite. "Indulge!? INDULGE! One moment of weakness is all it takes for a life time of sin and heresy! One must always be stern! One must always be determined! One must show the focus to resist all corruption! We start out as sinners and only through blood! Our's or the enemies, may we be cleansed!"
  69. 01[21:49] <Staffen> Another of the assembled men, a muscular man with a distinct lack of hair, breaks into a snorting giggle when Varian asks the woman's name. The lady herself, however, calmly interlocks her hands and turns her head slightly.
  70. 01[21:50] <Staffen> "You're too sweet, Monsieur Sark, speaking to me in Malfian. You can call me Gladys. Or Juniper. Or Alla. Whatever you want."
  71. 01[21:50] <Staffen> You can hear the giant chortling at the far-end of the room.
  72. 06[21:50] * Horace pops out a cheap paper notepad and writes down notes on the notable figures in the room
  73. 01[21:51] <Staffen> The red-haired woman sits straight. "I suppose we ought to go ahead and get started. Anything we can get you all before, though? Drink? Proper meal? Algae culture can't sustain a person forever."
  74. [21:51] <Petrus> "Indeed."
  75. [21:52] <Horace> "I'd like an antidote and my calm breakfasts back. ...And my release."
  76. 01[21:52] <Staffen> The group looks at Horace for a few seconds, suddenly very silent.
  77. [21:52] <Brother_Ezekiah> "I will take a water and a corpse ration! The only food fit for one filled with so much sin!" He looks at Horace. "Will you not say anything? Will you just sit here as I accuse you? Debasing yourself with your lho?"
  78. 01[21:52] <Staffen> Then they all start laughing again.
  79. [21:52] <Horace> "Yes."
  80. 01[21:53] <Staffen> "About the poison." The red-haired woman puts a finger to her lower lip.
  81. 01[21:54] <Staffen> The thinner man in the fatigues makes rings around his eyes and in a voice you recognize too-well says, "I do hope you enjoyed your meal this morning. Cultured algae with a special..." he giggles. "Seasoning!"
  82. 01[21:54] <Staffen> "Try not to hurt Dan here," the brunette cooly says. "But to be honest..."
  83. [21:54] <Horace> "....Did you kak in it?"
  84. 01[21:55] <Staffen> "There was no poison," the giant says, now approaching you.
  85. [21:55] <Horace> "...Did /you/ kak in it?"
  86. 01[21:56] <Staffen> "If he had, you'd know," the muscular man says, taking a drink from his glass.
  87. [21:56] <Brother_Ezekiah> "... no poison?" He would whip away from the arbite and point to the man in fatigues. "SINNER! LIAR! BETRAYER!"
  88. 06[21:57] * Varian takes a glass and breaks open the amasec, smelling the rich wafting cinnamon mixed with a husky, berry-like flavour floating out of the top. "I like Juniper and in that case you have my thanks sweet Junpier.
  89. 06[21:57] * Petrus looks to the bar tender "Do you have any gin?"
  90. 01[21:58] <Staffen> Dan makes a melodramatic expression of dismay. "Well it's not like we could get you lot to try to work without running away otherwise."
  91. [21:58] <Horace> "...Can we run away now?"
  92. 01[21:58] <Staffen> "Grak," the brunette says to the large man. "Get Lord Cain some gin from behind the bar."
  93. [21:58] <Petrus> "It never hurts to just ask politely you know:"
  94. 01[21:59] <Staffen> "In my line of work, Lord Cain," the red-haired woman says as Grak slides out of the booth, "politely asking gets nothing accomplished."
  95. 06[22:00] * Petrus shrugs
  96. 06[22:00] * Horace eats a miniature quiche from a table
  97. 01[22:00] <Staffen> "My friends," "Juniper" says, standing now. "Let's do away with the banter. My lovely colleague here is Inquisitor Kith. Behind you is my companion Chaplain Moerchen. These men are Kith's retinue."
  98. [22:01] <Brother_Ezekiah> "It was a beautifully executed purge and scourge of an evil, heretical cult! Does this mean anything to you?" He points to his mask and leans in real close on fatigue man. Unblinking... hooked nose of his mask only milimeters away from the man's. "I would HAPPILY cleanse sin away! My life is forfeit to the Emperor when I was BORN!"
  99. 06[22:01] * Horace drops to a knee with a bang, lho falling from his mouth, head down to the supposed Inquisitor
  100. 06[22:02] * Petrus removes his hat and bows
  101. 01[22:02] <Staffen> "Refer to me simply as the Lady Inquisitor," the brunette says. "Feel free to keep calling me Juniper though. I like that one."
  102. 01[22:03] <Staffen> "Last month," Moerchen growls, "it was Imma. When we were in Gunmetal and you insisted on being a beggar, my Lady, it was Gally. My Lady has a dozen names at any given moment."
  103. 06[22:03] * Brother_Ezekiah pulls away from the man, and looks at the inquisitor and continues to frown. "I bow to no one save the Emperor!" And would leave it at that.
  104. 06[22:03] * Varian pours himself a drink before raising and shaking the glass slightly to clink the ice blocks inside in salute to the Inquisitor's preferred name.
  105. 06[22:04] * Petrus drinks his gin
  106. 01[22:04] <Staffen> "Then you other two may rise," the Lady says. "Let's talk about Guytoga and its implications."
  107. 06[22:04] * Horace slowly, but rather obviously, slinks backwards towards the door while trying to maintain his bow
  108. 01[22:05] <Staffen> Kith wags a finger at Horace.
  109. 06[22:05] * Horace stops
  110. 01[22:06] <Staffen> "I must confess I was somewhat disappointed you didn't go down into the mineshaft. The whole gang-killing wasn't the best test of your cohesion," Kith says.
  111. [22:06] <Brother_Ezekiah> "The implications? The implications seem obvious to me. If you sin, then you are purged! They sin, and we purged them!"
  112. 01[22:07] <Staffen> "A fundamental truth," the Lady says, sipping from her amasec.
  113. 01[22:09] <Staffen> "But you seem to be missing the point," Kith adds.
  114. 01[22:09] <Staffen> "Indeed. Why did we send you down there?" the Lady asks you.
  115. 01[22:09] <Staffen> "To make sure they aren't fucknuts," Grak says as he comes back with a glass for Petrus.
  116. 06[22:10] * Petrus smiles and thanks Grak
  117. 06[22:10] * Varian lets his drink breathe, "It did show our group's sensible approach to the issue and a healthy respect of the unknown though."
  118. [22:11] <Brother_Ezekiah> "We did as instructed! We delivered the package to the mines, and unleased HOLY VENGENCE upon the ne'er-do-wells inhabiting that mine shaft."
  119. 06[22:11] * Horace eats a smoked sausage wrapped in puff pastry
  120. 01[22:12] <Staffen> Kith points. "Not very curious. Concerning. We'll have to hammer that out."
  121. [22:14] <Horace> "We /did/ hammer it. With the hammer you gave us. Forgive us for not staying to see how it worked."
  122. 01[22:15] <Staffen> "There was never any question about events on Guytoga," the Lady says. "I imagine you may have noticed how painfully easy that task was. Do a bit of wading through muck, catch a man, save some hostages and raid a hideout. Well, you skipped the hideout raid really, but nevermind that."
  123. [22:16] <Horace> "Are you going to mindwipe us now?"
  124. 01[22:16] <Staffen> "Certainly not, Horace," the Lady says, looking appalled. "We're overall very pleased with your work."
  125. 06[22:17] * Varian quickly downs his amasec at the thought of being mind wiped and losing the chance to enjoy the drink.
  126. 06[22:17] * Horace listens silently, thinking on the increasingly dangerous situation with a meat-salad canape placed on a leafy vegetable
  127. 01[22:17] <Staffen> Kith nods. "Guytoga was an incident we had essentially cleared up before we dropped you on the planet. But we needed a means to test your aptitude, and we happened to have a cult right here."
  128. [22:18] <Horace> "Have they all been purged? Or shall we go back again?"
  129. 01[22:19] <Staffen> "The cult is dead," the Lady says simply. "You ensured that when you opened the sarcophagus."
  130. 01[22:19] <Staffen> You hear Moerchen grumble at the mention of the container.
  131. 06[22:19] * Horace gives an appreciative nod, relaxing just a dad
  132. [22:19] <Horace> *tad
  133. 01[22:20] <Staffen> "But here's the interesting thing," Kith says. "Did any of you think to wonder, 'who runs the Deloran Mine?' After all, they must be very negligent if a heretical sect is using it as a base."
  134. 06[22:21] * Horace awaits the answer in interest
  135. 06[22:21] * Brother_Ezekiah is thinking on this. And finds a glass of water. It has a slice of citrus. Something healthy for the body To fight off his own sinful base urges, he needs to be of a sound mind and body, only would he have a sound soul. "... so we need to go purge the owner of the mine?"
  136. 01[22:21] <Staffen> "Would that the Inquisition were so direct," Moerchen speaks up.
  137. [22:22] <Varian> "I assumed someone related to the man whose throat I introduced to a Malfian blade."
  138. 01[22:24] <Staffen> "No, the mine was owned by one Mandus-Kormon Incorporation," The head laborer tells you. "They're a raw-materials guild that has been hiking its way up the commercial ladder the last few decades."
  139. [22:24] <Horace> "Is he of taint and requiring a purging?"
  140. 01[22:25] <Staffen> "Not yet," Kith flatly says.
  141. 02[22:26] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  142. 03[22:27] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  143. [22:27] <Petrus> "How big are they?"
  144. [22:27] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Obviously big enough to be a NEST OF DEGENERATE SINNERS!"
  145. 02[22:28] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  146. 03[22:29] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  147. 02[22:31] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  148. 03[22:32] * Varian (chatzilla@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  149. 01[22:32] <Staffen> "Mandus-Kormon employs over three million employees sector-wide," the Lady says. "And the vast majority of them are innocent of anything. Non-freelance laborers and internal bureaucrats, mainly. The problem, however, lies at the top of the hierarchy."
  150. [22:33] <Petrus> "And that is?"
  151. 02[22:34] * Petrus (chatzilla@sux-BE5A0701.shr-wy.client.bresnan.net) Quit (Connection reset by peer)
  152. 03[22:34] * Petrus (chatzilla@sux-BE5A0701.shr-wy.client.bresnan.net) has joined #EternalWar
  153. [22:35] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Then we must purge from the top and work our way to the bottom! The answer is obvious! And you are in correct, no one is innocent! All are guilty of some form of sin! Theirs... or their parents!"
  154. 02[22:36] * Varian (chatzilla@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  155. 03[22:36] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  156. 01[22:37] <Staffen> "Wrong, Ezekiah," Kith deadpans. "There are much higher forces at work here. You all are going to start making moves to gather information."
  157. 01[22:39] <Staffen> "And the first thing you're going to be doing is plotting the tragic death of one of their main treasurers," the Lady says.
  158. [22:39] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Well, Tragic enough! He was burned alive in his own auto!" He shrugs. "Next problem in need of a solution?"
  159. [22:39] <Petrus> "That should be easy enough to do."
  160. 02[22:40] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  161. 03[22:40] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) has joined #EternalWar
  162. 01[22:40] <Staffen> "Here's the catch," Kith quickly says. "You have to make it as public as possible, but you also need to bring him to us, alive."
  163. [22:41] <Petrus> "So you want us to "kill" him and bring him to you as a prisoner?"
  164. 01[22:42] <Staffen> "Not 'kill' him," the Lady insists. "He needs to have a terrible accident. He is being watched constantly. We can't have anyone knowing he was murdered."
  165. [22:43] <Brother_Ezekiah> "... this seems well beyond my simple ways of purge and scourge."
  166. 02[22:44] * Varian (antoine@sux-A1B3BD92.static.amnet.net.au) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 12.0/20120420145725])
  167. [22:45] <Petrus> "So you want us to make him vanish?"
  168. 01[22:46] <Staffen> "Precisely, Petrus."
  169. [22:48] <Petrus> "I haven't had the chance to catch live prey in a while, it could be fun."
  170. [22:48] <Petrus> "I assume he has security with him at all times?"
  171. 06[22:50] * Horace walks on over to a table and looks at what's on it for its spread
  172. 01[22:52] <Staffen> "Oh, of course," the Lady says. "We've already got a man on his team. He's feeding us information on the treasurer's activities, and we've set out a rather distinct schedule."
  173. 06[22:52] * Horace calls, "Orders from...the...the Inquisition... Nothing's stopping us short of His Majesty, whether or not he's guarded."
  174. [22:53] <Petrus> "Are people supposed to know he's been kidnapped or do you want it done covertly?"
  175. [22:54] <Brother_Ezekiah> "I would like to state that I am not good with subtlety. It is a sinful way to wage war."
  176. 01[22:54] <Staffen> "It must be covert," Inquisitor Kith tells you. "The reason we're doing this is to prevent those higher forces we're talking about from learning we're extracting information from him.
  177. 06[22:55] * Horace nods, taking in the information
  178. 06[22:56] * Horace begins writing notes on the mission on a dataslate, sitting on the table he found nothing to eat from
  179. [22:57] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Then I shall have no part in planning it, then!"
  180. [22:58] <Horace> "They're going to kill us very painfully and brutally if we don't do what they want."
  181. [22:58] <Horace> "At least, that's what I'd do."
  182. 06[22:58] * Horace shrugs while he writes down notes
  183. [22:58] <Horace> "That, or kill one of us and make us e--nothing."
  184. 06[22:59] * Horace coughs to clear his throat
  185. 01[22:59] <Staffen> The Lady Inquisitor looks to Moerchen, and rises from her seat. "Do not think that we have much interest in inflicting harm at you. I think we'll come to value you greatly hereafter. Do not fail us, however."
  186. 01[22:59] <Staffen> "Chaplain Moerchen has words to say with you, I suspect. We, however, shall be leaving."
  187. [22:59] <Horace> "I'm with the master hunter. I'll do this. But when will I be allowed to return to my investigation?"
  188. [23:00] <Horace> "I was so close..."
  189. [23:00] <Petrus> "It was a pleasure meeting you Madam Inquisitor."
  190. [23:00] <Brother_Ezekiah> "I am incapable of being... quiet. When one is purging, one must being singing! Galloping! Making as much noise as possible."
  191. 01[23:00] <Staffen> With this the group slips out of the booth, and passes by you. Before leaving, the Lady looks back at Horace.
  192. 01[23:01] <Staffen> "You won't be returning. Your Divisio head has already been informed of your... circumstances. You'll be receiving continual compensation, however."
  193. 01[23:01] <Staffen> With this, she leaves you with the Astartes Chaplain.
  194. 06[23:01] * Horace nearly drops his dataslate and his jaw hangs
  195. [23:01] <Horace> "...What?"
  196. [23:03] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Ha! The wages of sin, arbite! All your behavior is piling up upon you, like the blackened filth you partake!"
  197. 01[23:03] <Staffen> "You are on a new walk of life, child," the Chaplain says. "Reflect on that. This is a greater path you tread than you had with the Wardens. I'm sure you got your share of dark looks and swift denials of service for your ties."
  198. [23:04] <Brother_Ezekiah> "There can be no greater path then that of Redemption!"
  199. [23:05] <Petrus> "I'm assuming I won't be seeing home for a while as well?"
  200. 06[23:05] * Horace pockets the slate and pulls out a red lho, and prepares it
  201. [23:05] <Horace> "Are any of us?"
  202. 01[23:05] <Staffen> Moerchen looks to the redemptionist and sighs. "My youthful warrior. You are vigorous, but I fear misguided. Man is not born in sin, this I have found out with great difficulty. You claw for your redemption when you have nothing to redeem yourself for."
  203. [23:07] <Brother_Ezekiah> "Nothing to redeem? There is everything to redeem! The only redemption is the martyr's crown! Only through the persecution of sinners are we made whole! Only through the death of the unrighteous shall the righteous join the Emperor at his table! It takes pain! And if it doesn't hurt, it does not count!"
  204. 01[23:08] <Staffen> He looks then to Petrus. "Let me tell you of my home. My home was my Chapter's Reclusiam," he pats the right pauldron of his armor - a green reaper's scythe decorates it, surrounded by bone-white. "Our sanctuary. Our place of reflection. Before I came to the Lady's side I was as you are - so certain that thigns were as simple martyrdom and the quest for redemption.
  205. 01[23:10] <Staffen> "But I have seen men struggle to live but cling to that slim shard of faith and trust. I have seen men who were lost to it, but insisted on doing good. Ours is a good species by nature, drawn from that path by evil beings. I have fought alongside some of the bravest mortals ever seen, many of whom came from darker paths only for their good to be rekindled.
  206. 01[23:12] <Staffen> He draws a weapon from his thigh - it is a scepter topped with an skull-headed eagle. He points it to Ezekiah. "You must learn to look past the surface of your fellows. You perceive only wrongs, but each action has its reasoning. These gangers you fought on Guytoga were gangers no-doubt out of necessity, for instance. And you must also learn to moderate."
  207. 01[23:13] <Staffen> He looks to Horace. "You, I can tell, have walked your own regrettable paths. We all have in our time. But now you have a dedication to doing good that is admirable. Remember that. Keep that in mind."
  208. 01[23:14] <Staffen> Moerchen holds out his arms. "You march towards greater deeds, my friends. You must learn to be a boon unto one-another. You must cooperate. You must be able to play parts for the moment, watch and wait, in order to strike the snake of corruption when it is most vulnerable. A moment too soon, and it will recoil and bite you back."
  209. 06[23:15] * Brother_Ezekiah grits his teeth, gathering his thoughts together. Trying to take the Chaplains words and apply it to the teachings of his order... his life!
  210. 06[23:15] * Horace slurps the remnants of a drink with a draw
  211. 01[23:15] <Staffen> "So," the Chaplain says, relaxing. "What can this old warrior do now for you?"
  212. [23:16] <Horace> "Can we go do our job? Or do we have further orders?"
  213. 01[23:18] <Staffen> "You should be patient. Reflect on the things I've said." He shrugs. "I think you'll be given new quarters soon. More pleasant ones as well."
