(5:00:11 PM) ApricotCordial: Shimmer and company stand around in the market after having made their final purchases with the money forwarded them by their new employer.
(5:01:06 PM) Shimmer: "So...I've found our alicorn clothes!" She seems to think this a success.
(5:01:19 PM) ***Necessary_Force looks like she's acquired a second pistol, and her saddlebags clink a little more than they did.
(5:01:23 PM) Necessary_Force: did before.*
(5:01:54 PM) Necessary_Force: "I bought a gun, some food, and more bandages," she reports dispassionately. "I hope you all enjoy the taste of pears."
(5:02:10 PM) Shimmer: "I...have never had a pear. I tend to eat the mutifruit..."
(5:02:46 PM) Necessary_Force: "That's hell on your guts, you know," Nessa says.

(5:04:35 PM) Shimmer: "I know...,but I can handle a few rads now and then..."
(5:05:14 PM) Nessa: "You shouldn't."
(5:05:51 PM) ***Nessa pulls her pistol and starts fiddling with it. "So, who's this guide we've been assigned?"
(5:06:52 PM) Shimmer: "I'm not too sure."
(5:11:38 PM) ***Arcadia was much too distracted, doing silly poses in a broken mirror to get a good feel of what she was wearing. "This doesn't make us look fat, does it?" She frankly looked ridiculous, a nightgown underneath a silk cape, with a scarf and pith helmet as accessories.  She'd even hung an old blanket over her back!
(5:12:04 PM) Nessa: "Hm. Well. Hopefully they aren't bad at their job." Nessa spares Arcadia a glance.
(5:13:37 PM) Nessa: For her part, the dark pink and magenta earthmare seems to have equipped her clothing with some heat-insulating fabric and some armor plating.
(5:15:54 PM) Shimmer: "Well if they are...then at the least it means we'll get paid more for taking longer."
(5:17:25 PM) Nessa: "That's a pretty mild view of a trip that could very well end in our frozen corpses being lost in the north."
(5:18:02 PM) Shimmer: "Well...I'm fairly certain...if things get to be too bad...we'll turn back."
(5:18:19 PM) Shimmer: "I appreciate a well paying job...,but dying isn't really on my bucket list."
(5:18:31 PM) ***Nessa just blinks at Shimmer.
(5:20:00 PM) Nessa: "... is this like when you asked if I had a weapon for a namesake?" she asks, looking legitimately concerned.
(5:21:16 PM) Shimmer: "I didn't ask if you had a weapon as a name sake...I said a talent for your name sake."
(5:21:23 PM) Shimmer: "It...was intende to be humorous..."
(5:22:26 PM) ***Arcadia flicks her ears up.  "Why are we talking so grimly? We do not plan on dying any time soon."
(5:23:17 PM) Nessa: "Alright," Nessa says.
(5:23:41 PM) Shimmer: "Nor do I...I intend on living a long healthy life before dying surrounded by a big and healthy family."Shimmer says cheerfully. "Which means not here and not in a frigid blizzard.
(5:25:21 PM) Arcadia: "Then we are agreed!"
(5:25:34 PM) Nessa: "I've got at least enough pears for a week."
(5:26:23 PM) ***Arcadia tilts her head.  "What is a pear?"
(5:27:57 PM) Nessa: "A variety of commonly cultivated pome fruit. They were a lot more common before the War, and some of these... 'mutfruits', you call them, descend from pear cultivars," Nessa says, like she's remembering a textbook.
(5:28:36 PM) Nessa: "Exhibit A." Nessa procures a green, hard looking winter pear from her bags.
(5:31:16 PM) Shimmer: "Oh...if they taste like Mutifruit...then they're really nice!"
(5:35:33 PM) ***Nessa puts the pear back in her bags.
(5:35:48 PM) ***Arcadia leans forward and sniffs it. "All we procured was this... 'Trail Mix' stuff. " She floats out not one... but ten huge bags of the stuff!
(5:36:04 PM) Nessa: "Good choice," Nessa says.
(5:36:26 PM) Shimmer: "I...just bought a few unlabeled cans..."
(5:39:59 PM) ***Nessa looks thoughtful.
(5:40:42 PM) Nessa: "We have any caps left?" she asks. "I was only able to afford one syringe of Med-X and no Buck."
(5:41:01 PM) Shimmer: "Didn't I chip in two hundred caps?"
(5:41:40 PM) Nessa: "You did. That helped me get some potions and more bandages," Nessa says.
(5:42:15 PM) Arcadia: "We have something that salespony called potions..."
(5:42:19 PM) Nessa: "Street price for opiates of the necessary quality is... seventy five per dose."
(5:42:34 PM) Nessa: "So--" Nessa shrugs to Shim.
(5:44:08 PM) ***Arcadia fishes out a hoof full of caps, only 16, and passes that to Nessa. "Would this help? It's all we have left. "
(5:44:30 PM) ***Nessa hrms, thinking...
(5:45:11 PM) Nessa: "... well, maybe if I could get the right herbs... and this is probably enough for some sterile cloth..." she mutters.
(5:45:39 PM) Nessa: "I can probably stretch this into something useful," Nessa says, nodding to Arcadia.
(5:46:51 PM) ***Arcadia clops her hooves together.  "We are helping!"
(5:48:34 PM) ***Shimmer smiles. "yes you are...so I do not think that we will be making it out of town by tonight as planned."
(5:50:01 PM) ***Nessa motions for Shimmer and Arcadia to walk with her while she procures some good bandaging cloth.
(5:50:08 PM) ***Shimmer follows along.
(5:50:51 PM) ***Arcadia blinks, before falling in line. "Why are you leading again?"
(5:51:40 PM) Shimmer: "Because she is the one taking the lead." Shimmer says.
(5:51:44 PM) Nessa: "Hm?" Nessa looks over her shoulder.
(5:52:22 PM) ***Arcadia stops short. "Oh... okay then!" Abs along she follows once more
(5:53:27 PM) Nessa: "Well, I'm not going to go do this alone," Nessa says. "Plus, Shimmer'll probably double the effective value of these caps."
(5:53:58 PM) ***Shimmer smiles. "I'm...not quite...that good." She blushes at the compliment.
(5:54:49 PM) Arcadia: "We never did understand how you could be so... charismatic, Shimmer. Or why there was any value in those pieces of metal..."
(5:55:56 PM) Shimmer: "It...is a well practiced skill." She nods. "I think you could do much the same...I just have the advantage of having lived here for a while.
(5:57:17 PM) Nessa: "Since you point it out, it is pretty weird," Nessa says to Arcadia, shrugging. "Considering nearly every other institution of the Pre-War government collapsed except for the use of fiat currency."
(5:58:26 PM) ***Arcadia smiles towards Shimmer, before glancing towards Nessa. "We don't know much about the world before the war. "
(5:59:15 PM) Shimmer: "In truth considering how well bits survived...and the flat exchange of ten for a bottle of cola...I am surprised we still do not use them."
(6:00:21 PM) Nessa: "Well, I'm told Equestria was a pretty great place that steadily got less great until--" Nessa motions to the weather-worn, post-apocalyptic streets.
(6:07:13 PM) Shimmer: "Yes...I've heard a lot of that myself..." She frowns. "but we make the best of it right?"
(6:07:48 PM) Nessa: "Not really," Nessa says. "But not everyone is dead, so I guess that's a win."
(6:09:18 PM) Shimmer: "I try and keep a happy outlook..."
(6:09:41 PM) Nessa: "I prefer not to sugarcoat things."
(6:09:58 PM) ***Nessa stretches and cracks her neck a little as she says that.
(6:14:58 PM) Shimmer: "Well...beyond the raiders...most ponies tend to be nice enough..."
(6:18:37 PM) Nessa: "Hm. We must operate in different social circles, then," Nessa remarks.
(6:19:45 PM) Shimmer: "I mostly deal with towns people...Who do you deal with?"
(6:20:43 PM) Nessa: "Townspeople and travelers."
(6:21:11 PM) ***Shimmer frowns. "I wonder why the different experiences..."
(6:21:28 PM) Shimmer: "Maybe we just have different views on what nice enough means?
(6:24:03 PM) Nessa: "Or they view me more negatively than they view you." Nessa shrugs. "Or I view them more negatively than you view them. Or both."
