Intel, a giant in the IT business, decided to pull their ads from the middle of the war of words from the largest gaming industry professionals website Gamasutra.

The decision came due to a nearly three-month long dispute, where gaming enthusiasts and gamers have begun a consumer revolt against certain game journalism websites due to their alleged breaches and lack of journalistic and professional ethics.

  21. The campaign began when information surfaced of an alleged relationship between an independent game developer and a game journalist who had reported on the developer's work. Many readers found the non-disclosure of this affair as unethical behavior.

  39. In addition to arguing on Twitter, the supporters of GamerGate have taken to e-mail and inform the biggest advertisers and sponsors of the accused gaming sites of their unethical behavior and attacks on gamers. Intel is the biggest advertiser who has reacted to the customer complaints.

  41. Intel has not taken a stand in the issue itself, but have issued an apology to those offended by their decision to remove ads. In the statement, Intel assures that they are for gender equality. However, the company has kept their decision and does not advertise on Gamasutra.
