  21. 1) What is Paladins?
  22. Paladins is a First Person Shooter game developed by Hi-Rez Studios, creators of the MOBA SMITE. The game is rooted in a colorful sci-fi fantasy setting featuring Champions, playable characters that have their own unique fire-function and abilities. Combat in Paladins is also nearly entirely skillshot-based, meaning projectiles can be dodged. Although each champion has its own personality and core skills, to get around Paladins' Maps the real character variation comes from a deckbuilding Cards System that augments a champion in different ways.
  23.
  24. 2) My first matches were rather easy, why?/When will I start playing against other players?
  25. Till level 5 you play against bots, helping you understand the game and the champions better.
  26.
  27. 3) What are cards and what do they do?
  28. The Cards system in Paladins is one of the main features that sets the game apart from other ones in the genre. Cards provide Champions with several different bonuses like modified weapon shots and skills with new effects or higher potency.
  29. Cards are sorted by their rarity: Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Each card has 4 variations, one for each rarity, bundled together in sets.
  30. Each champion has their own card collection that is exclusive to them, which are organized in 4 categories: First skill, Second skill, Third skill and Armor/Weapon.
  31.
  32. 4) What are items and what do they do?
  33. Items (also known as Burn cards) are a special kind of cards that any champion can use. These cards allow players to gain useful benefits, like extra damage or bonus movement speed, for that round. There are four types of items: Attack, Defense, Healing and Utility.
  34. In Siege, items can be purchased at the Spawn rooms by pressing the I key by default. Items are purchased with Credits. Every player starts with 400 Credits by default and more can be earned by accomplishing tasks during the match, like killing enemy players or capturing objectives.
  35. A player can only have one item from each category at once. Each item can be upgraded up to two times, increasing the potency of their effects. Each upgrade costs the original value multiplied by 2 or 3 (e.g. a 300 Credits item will cost 600 Credits to upgrade to tier 2, and 900 Credits to upgrade to tier 3). Once purchased or upgraded, items cannot be sold nor downgraded.
  36.
  37. 5) What is VGS and what does it do?
  38. The Voice Guided System ("VGS"), accessed by pressing "V" by default, is a library of pre-recorded voice commands that allow players to quickly communicate with their team without having to type in the chat. Using one of the commands will also automatically send a message with the quote to the team chat.
  39.
  40. 6) What game modes are in this game?
  41. The currents modes in the game are Siege, Onslaught and Team Deathmatch.
  42.
  43. - Siege:
  44.
  45. Siege is a round based game mode where each team works to earn 4 Objective Points total to win the match, but you can not hit 4 points from defending.
  46. Objective Points are earned by:
  47. -Taking control of a Capture Point (+1)
  48. -Escorting the Payload into the enemy team's base (+1)
  49. -Stalling the enemy team's Payload until the time runs out (+1)
  50.
  51. There will be one Capture Point located at the very center of the area that players will need to fight for. To capture a point, at least one player needs to stand inside it's designated area. Each team has a separate capture progress bar that won't be depleted in any way. If players from both teams are standing in the capture point's radius, neither team will be able to make progress until their opponents are removed from the area. If a team is almost done capturing a point and is interrupted, there will be a brief 3 seconds delay before that team can resume capture.
  52. Once a Capture Point is taken by a team, a Payload cart spawns for them that must be escorted to the opposing team's base for an additional Objective Point. The Payload phase lasts 3 minutes. The payload will immediately stop moving if any players from the defending team stands near it. The payload will start to move backwards after sitting idle for too long.
  53.
  54. If the timer runs out but there are still attackers around the objective an Overtime phase will begin, giving a last chance for the attackers to push and win. The overtime ends when either the payload reaches it's destination, or after 6 seconds of no attackers standing near the payload.
  55.
  56. - Team Deathmatch
  57.
  58. Team Deathmatch is a classic deathmatch game mode. In Team Deathmatch, the first team to achieve 40 kills wins. Players can change their Cards loadout at the start of the match. Everyone receives 400 Credits at the start of the match that can be used to purchase Items, and the passive Credits spooling is of 5 Credits per second.
  59.
  60. - Onslaught:
  61.
  62. Onslaught is a Team Death Match and King of the Hill hybrid game mode. Players can change their Cards loadout at the start of the match. Everyone receives 400 Credits at the start of the match that can be used to purchase Items, and the passive Credits spooling is of 5 Credits per second.
  63.
  64. To win, players must earn tickets by accomplishing different tasks:
  65.
  66. -Killing a player scores the team 5 tickets.
  67. -Controlling the large area in the middle of the arena earns 1 ticket per second. This area is controlled as long as there is one player and no opponents within it.
  68. Teams gain additional respawn time based on how far ahead in tickets they are from their opponent. The first team to reach 400 tickets, or the team with the most tickets after 10 minutes, wins.
  69.
  70. 7) What are Status effects?
  71. Status Effects (also known as Debuffs or Crowd Control) are negative conditions in Paladins. They usually affect the targeted champions with some kind of penalty, and the effect wears off over time. Most status effects can be removed or mitigated with certain Cards or abilities.
  72.
  73. 8) What is Stealth/Stealth Grass?
  74. Stealth is a mechanic in Paladins that allows champions to turn invisible to the opposing team. Taking damage or performing actions like weapon attacks or casting abilities will break stealth, making the champion visible again. Enemies moving too close to an stealthed character will cause it to become partially visible. There are also several Cards that allow champions to diminish or disable the effects of stealth.
  75.
  76. Stealth Grass allows champions to go into stealth to hide in plain sight when they enter them.
  77. Champions are revealed when an player of the opposite team enters the bush or when they take any kind of action. Channeled abilities such as Evie's Ice Block will not reveal the champion for the entire duration, only when the ability is activated (took action), or canceled early (took action).
  78.
  79. 9) Where can I download this game?
  80. From Steam (here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/444090/ ) or the official site (here: https://www.paladins.com )
  81.
  82. 10) How do I see my ping?
  83. Press F9 in match.
  84.
  85. 11) What makes Paladins stand out against the like of Overwatch or Team Fortress 2?
  86. The game is F2P and has no P2W elements. Everything that you can spend $$ on are cosmetics and the founder pack. The game is also based on strategy, since you sometimes have to change and mix your deck and your items to counter your enemies. I'm not saying that the mentioned games don't need a strategy, but in Paladins, if you don't set up your deck right and you play against good players that are not shitters, you will lose, or probably get carried by your teammates sometimes if you are lucky. Communication in this game is key, if you don't work with your teammates, you will lose.
