- PTCG/O Budget Deck Lists
- Updated 12/17/19 - Added Aegislash and Honkcrow
- Updated 29/12/19 - Removed Aegislash. Now I've got a decent job I'll be spending less time on PTCGO, thus someone else should update these lists from now own. Happy 2020!
- General tips/commentary on budgetizing a list
- 1. Cynthia. With N and Sycamore no longer in the format, you'll want four of them. The Garchomp theme deck comes with two copies of it, and Erika works often as replacement.
- 2. Elm's Lecture and searching stadiums are generally the best way to replace the ability that Brigette gave you to rapidly fill your bench.
- 3. Run extra consistency. Most decks run only 6-9 draw/shuffle supporters since with Dedenne/Jirachi in the deck, every search usually leads to a supporter, but you can run up to 12 with 4 Erika/Lillie/Cynthia to help compensate.
- These lists should be considered templates/skeletons or examples, individual card counts and extra additions will always come down to playtesting and personal preference (and also what you have available, poorfag).
- Decks are left in importable format for the sake of convenience. To import a deck, just copy it to your clipboard, go to the TCGO deckbuilder, click new deck and press the import button at the bottom.
- Keep in mind that budget in paper != budget online.
- You can search this pastebin via the tags added to each list which indicate whether a list runs basics or evolutions, what types a list has and the general overall costs. Generally lists that include cards that cost more than a pack or so are [$$] and lists that have cards worth over 2 packs are [$$$], prices are constantly fluctuating so don't take that as a hard and fast rule. Decks with a [*] have recent event results. Yes, there are budget decks that are making cut at events/winning online fansite tournaments these days.

- Comments: A basic concept where you can get most parts from the Charizard theme deck and manage to OHKO many GXs with enough energies attached. Victini is a late attacker and the other pokemon help your consistency. Evolution decks are kinda screwed without ultra ball now, but it is somewhat doable with pokemon communication and how you draw the cards.

- Comments: Malamar is one of the best supporter for cheap decks, you get enough copies from two Necrozma theme decks and it often shows in real tournaments. It can also be paired with lots of different atackers, even if Giratina is the most consistent one. Necrozma isn't bad though, as it OHKOs plenty of competitive pokemon by holding a special energy.

- Comments: Against decks that do not run baby mew, Hitmonchan does quite a damage to pokémon that should be more agressive than this playstyle. Ironically bench prevention is not even the biggest counter to this deck, since MewMew has a fuckton HP and heals everyone with its GX attack.

- Comments: Gyarados is a very straightfoward deck, you search your pokemon and hit lots of damage for one energy. Unfortunately it's not straightfoward by choice, since you need these much energies on the deck to work and it will autolose to tanks like GardeSylv. Still, gyarados has a solid 50% winrate due to the many fire decks currently around.

- Comments: Lamp daddy is a good attacker that lets you have evolutions not worth the normal setup and even apply special conditions in the current year! While this deck does more damage than Charizard for the energy ratio, you will have to trade packs for most pokemon or gamble pulls trying. You can fit other evos like Blaziken or Infernape in, but imo they are a waste of a slot.

- Comments: This deck seemed dead with the loss of oranguru and a few items, but it is still consistent and just a meme because of tag teams' extensive HP/healing. Thanks to red's challenge and radar (that searches for nothing here) it's easy to trim your hand into no cards every turn and hit that sweet 160, then recycle resources with diantha when it is needed.

- Comments: This is the most stupid idea to ever make into Worlds 2019, yet Isaiah Williams piloted it to top 8 (and other player made it to top 32) against many agressive GX lists; not even the Shedinja variant was this sucessful there. This deck works like the old Zoroark/Oranguru Control, but Pidgeotto draws less cards and can't even knockout a fly. The kicker is being able to manipulate the opponent's deck with ice axe and use Articuno-GX at the right spot, and of couse Zoroark no longer being legal on Standart.

- Comments: The child of a similar strategy involving Raichu-GX that never took off by being a two-prize attacker and needing two energies to attack (besides the lots of BuzzRoc back then). It's easy to pump energies with pachirisu and play electropower against big threats. Emolga is also handy at filling the bench and searching for raichu.

- EXPANDED
- A word of warning: Budget lists in Expanded tend to be at a larger disadvantage than in standard and tend to be slightly costlier. Computer Search is included because it was available as a ladder reward, lowering its long-term value online. IRL it is not a budget card, and some cards that are fairly inexpensive online (like Exeggute PLF) are not IRL.
- Note with Marshadow SLG soon going to be banned, Oranguru will be the cheapest alternative/replacement.

- Comments: This strategy realy shouldn't be so viable, yet it is on PTCGO with all other cheap DCE/DDE decks around. Honchkrow causes many decks to concede early and Hoopa and Shuckle try to cover whatever the bird can't. Competitively improved by being in a Zoroark-GX control deck, but you might hate the stalling even more.

- Comments: Similar to standard Volcanion-EX but with a higher focus on Turtonator due to Blacksmith's ability to return fire energy from discard syngerizing with its Bright Flame attack, the fact that Turt has higher HP doesn't hurt either. Muscle Band is an option over FFB in this deck since it makes the Zoroark numbers work a little better at the price of leaving your pokemon vulnerable to a full sky field OHKO from Riotous Beating.

- Comments: I never thought I'd be making a budget list with Shaymin-EX, but the card isn't worth much these days. Night March is pretty straightforward, the deck has very useful weakness matchups these days with Marshadow being able to OHKO Zoroark and PikaRom somewhat easily. Watch out for Oricorio and Karen, this deck was cancerous enough to get 2 different hard counters (3 with trump card) in the past.

- Comments: A similar style of list built around getting lots of pokemon in discard to power up Vespiquen and Flareon's attacks, both of which do more damage for each pokemon in discard. Blacksmith gives you a way to play with basic energy cards and ensures you're never out of attackers before you're out of prizes, since the deck is built with losing your active each turn in mind. Running such a high Shaymin count isn't strictly necessary if you want to economize a bit, most of them will be discard sitters but it's good to have more of them for consistency.

- Comments: An infamous ascended meme designed to fuck Gardevoir-EX's day up back when that was a dominant standard deck using a very unique lucky helmet draw engine combined with the Double ancient trait, which lets Gyarados equip two tools. A max damage Full Retaliation comfortably hits 210 which is ideal for the majority of the stage 1 GX being played right now, and the CIN Magikarp has built in protection against spread damage that hard countered this deck in the old days. Team Magma's Secret Base is the spendy card here, but you can't skimp on it.

- Comments: Turbo Darkrai has fallen off a fucking cliff, in 2017 it was winning every other event in standard and now here it is at meme tier in expanded. Being meme tier, the cards to play it are fortunately much cheaper. You have a ton of options for energy acceleration/recovery in this deck via dark patch, max elixir, darkrai-GX's ability, ect so when things go well you can have some very explosive turns. Hypnotoxics are good for dead end GX and also let you hit an odd damage number with Darkrai-BKT (your 'turbo' attacker) for the 190/210 hp cards, choice band also lets you do this. The amount of hate around due to the bullseye on Zoroark/PikaRom's back makes this list a little miserable to play at times unfortunately.

- Comments: This is the list used by Edan Lewis to get Top 16 in Portland, or would be if he didn't forget to bring 2 alolan exeggutes, playing with extra energies but still getting a good position. One of the few that still uses statuses to hit bigger numbers, as well.

- Comments: An old idea involving big basics that Simon Trottier piloted his way to top8 in Toronto 2019. Mew copies your whole bench, Articuno is a late-game attacker, Sableye and Oranguru bring back energies and counter gain from the discard pile... Some cards in this list seem random but have an actual purpose against the meta.

- Comments: The only advantage this has over nightmarch is not sharing some counters like oricorio and milling, because you're doing less damage than it on average. Still, it is a fun deck to pilot without needing a GX in the list. You can also cram the lighting rotom there for beating trainer challenges.
