- | Poisons are a vital part of any shofangi's arsenal. Understanding their |
- | effects, how to cure those effects, and how they can supplement and aid |
- | your forms will increase your effectiveness in combat by a large margin.|
- | This scroll seeks to offer information on what creatures carry various |
- | poisons, their cures, what poisons are complimentary, and offer a |
- | suggestion as to what forms they will aid. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | ALEUTIAN |
- | Acquired from: Pythons, Balach Swamp |
- | Causes: Paranoia |
- | Cured by: Lucidity slush potion |
- | Strategy: Paranoia is best used in group combat against melders, |
- | causing their demense to hit their allies. Its ability to stack with |
- | other mental afflictions means that it can complement an ibululu |
- | strategy for damage, or a dulak strategy to delay curing. Not a highly |
- | recommended poison. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | ANATINE |
- | Acquired from: Adders, Oleanvir Valley |
- | Causes: Clumsiness |
- | Cured by: Lucidity slush potion |
- | Strategy: Clumsiness is most effective against people who do physical |
- | damage, namely warriors and other monks. It's ability to hamper parrying|
- | is a fringe benefit. Since it stacks on the lucidity slush balance, it |
- |can be an effective| way to hamper these classes, but there are better |
- |options. Possibly most effective in tandem with another monk pressuring |
- |lucidity balance. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | ANEROD |
- | Acquired from: Bats, Glomdoring chasm |
- | Garnet Scorpions, Scorpion Caverns |
- | Causes: Relapse |
- | Cured by: Yarrow |
- | Strategy: Anerod is most useful for pressuring yarrow to allow lacerates|
- | to remain bleeding for longer. Otherwise this poison is of extremely |
- | limited use for us. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | BOTULINUM |
- | Acquired from: Blue-Ringed Ocotpii, Inner Sea |
- | Causes: Vomiting |
- | Cured by: Purity dust |
- | Strategy: Botulinum can be a very effective complement to a hindering |
- | strategy. It will provide damage when your enemy tries to act, slow |
- | down their actions, and stacks on purity balance to make it easier to |
- | keep them paralyzed. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | CALCISE |
- | Acquired from: Platypii, Rivers |
- | Causes: Damaged leg |
- | Cured by: Restorative ice |
- | Strategy: Calcise is an effective partner with shoflai and hook. |
- | Combining those two modifiers, dendroxin, and stomp, you can pressure |
- | ice balance and keep an enemy mostly harmless for a good long while. |
- | This is especially useful in groups with warriors, helping them to |
- | build wounds and apply their afflictions. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | CHANSU |
- | Acquired from: Nagaradjas, Southern Mountains |
- | Causes: Asthma |
- | Cured by: Purity dust |
- | Strategy: Chansu is a useful poison in groups, particularly when |
- | paired with those who can cause afflictions that need to be cured by |
- | smoking. This is not a poison that is particularly useful for us on our |
- | own. Make sure that someone in the group is applying afflictions cured |
- | by smoking before utilizing this poison. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | CHARYBDON |
- | Acquired from: Red Scorpions, Scorpio-Astral Plane |
- | Causes: Random afflictions caused by other poisons |
- | Cured by: Varies |
- | Strategy: Charybdon is a strange poison. It is almost impossible to |
- | build a strategy around it, as it's effects can vary so wildly. The |
- | main advantage of charybdon is that it is hard to tell what effect it |
- | gives, so in groups, it is advantageous as it can cause difficulties |
- | with curing. That said, it is random and less useful than a |
- | concentrated attack. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | CONTORTRIN |
- | Acquired from: Queen Gravedigger, Blasted Lands |
- | Causes: Recklessness |
- | Cured by: Lucidity slush |
- | Strategy: Recklessness can be a very strong affliction if it's not |
- | taken care of. Someone so afflicted will think they are invincible and |
- | be unable to tell if they are damaged. In groups this is effective in |
- | stopping someone from healing themselves. In duels, this is less useful |
- | because it is harder to keep active, and is less optimal choice than |
- | ibululu. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | CROTAMINE |
- | Acquired from: Lindwyrms, Earth Plane |
- | Causes: Sickness |
- | Cured by: Purity dust |
- | Strategy: Sickness is a good complement to a damage kill strategy. By |
- | decreasing the effectiveness of the enemy's healing potions, you |
- | effectively increase your own damage. Good partners for this poison are |
- | kumaki and haemotox, which will also increase the damage you do. Other |
- | modifiers for a form utilizing this poison are possibly hook if used |
- | with stomp, bullstrength, and rake. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | DENDROXIN |
- | Acquired from: Eyelash Vipers Glomdoring |
- | Amethyst Scoprions, Scorpion Caverns |
- | Causes: Damaged arm |
- | Cured by: Restorative ice |
- | Strategy: Similar to, but less effective than, calcise. Dendroxin will |
- | also |pressure ice balance, but in doing so it will not hamper an enemy |
- | as much as calcise combined with hook and stomp. Combine with calcise, |
- | stomp, and hook in one form to apply three ice afflicitions in one |
- | form. Combine with shoflai or senso to delay healing. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | DULAK |
- | Acquired from: Gila Lizards, Skarch Desert |
- | Causes: Stupidity |
- | Cured by: Lucidity slush |
- | Strategy: Dulak is generally useful in a multitude of strategies and |
- | forms. Applying it pressures lucidity balance and makes keeping |
- | afflictions like sensitivity and recklessness easier. Always afflict |
- | with dulak first, as it can possibly prevent someone from curing any |
- | additional afflictions. An absolutely necessary poison for any shofangi |
- | to have at their disposal. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | ESCOZUL |
- | Acquired from: Bloated Parasites, Pisces-Astral Plane |
- | Causes: Powersap |
- | Cured by: Soothing steam |
- | Strategy: This poison is best used in combination with harudin to |
- | hinder guardians and wiccans. That said, this should be a very low |
- | priority strategy, as we do not have many other ways to push |
- | afflictions on the soothing steam balance. Possibly more useful in |
- | conjunction with a bard who can pressure soothing steam to leave an |
- | enemy unable to use power to cure. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | HADRUDIN |
- | Acquired from: Muhagli,Cavern of Muhanlesh |
- | Black Scorpions,Blasted lands |
- | Causes: Disloyalty |
- | Cured by: Soothing steam |
- | Strategy: Useful only against someone who is using entities to defend |
- | them. These include beasts, guardians, wiccans, ecology users, and |
- | trackers. This poison is best used in tandem with senso, and possibly |
- | butojo, hook, and stomp to pressure ice and steam balances at the same |
- | time. This should be a primary poison in duels against classes with |
- | entities. |
- |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
- | HAEMOTOX |
- Acquired from: Rattlesnakes, Hirafae Hills |
- Causes: Haemophilia |
- Cured by: Purity dust |
- Strategy: Hameotox is a valuable poison for shofangi because it stops |
- clotting. In combination with other purity dust afflictions, it can |
- help
- amplify our damage by raising our bleeding to very high levels. Combine
- with crotamine and you slow healing, passively increasing your damage.
- This combination is powerful because it also hampers an enemy from regaining
- mana, which can make it harder for them to clot.
- IBULULU
- Acquired from: Cobras, Skarch Desert
- Causes: Sensitivity
- Cured by: Lucidity slush
- Strategy: Ibululu will increase damage done to the target. In group settings
- this is very powerful because you are passively increasing all damage done to
- the target. In duels, this is a little less powerful because you are highly
- dependent on lucidity balance for it to stick, and shofangi have very few
- ways to pressure that balance. Highly recommended to own and learn how to
- use, but in duels purity afflictions are recommended.
- INYOKA
- Acquired from: Red Salamanders, Rivers
- Causes: Hallucinations
- Cured by: Lucidity slush
- Strategy: Possibly this is most useful in conjunction with grapples. The stun
- that occasionally occurs, on top of another hindering poison like dulak, will
- possibly delay a writhe and help secure an ender. Combine with bogami, hook, and
- stomp for greater success.
- MACTANS
- Acquired from: Black Widows, Glomdoring
- Onyx Scorpions, Scorpion Caverns
- Causes: Chills
- Cured by: Fire potion
- Strategy: The only reason to ever use mactans is in conjunction with an
- aquamancer trying for their freezing kill. Shivering can also throw people
- off their balance, but chills is very easy to cure.
- MANTAKAYA
- Acquired from: Adorath, Illwater Lake
- Manta Rays, Inner Sea
- Causes: Paralysis
- Cured by: Purity dust
- Strategy: Mantakaya is a poison that is less useful to us than many others because
- of kumaki. In forms without kumaki it is stil la valuable way to pressure the purity
- balance. Combine with any purity cure for greater effect, but do not combine in the
- same form as kumaki.
- MELLITIN
- Acquired from: Wasps, Glomdoring Forest
- Jade Scorpions, Scorpion Caverns
- Causes: Dysentery
- Cured by: Purity Dust
- Strategy: Useful as mainly a hindering poison if you are already using mantakaya or
- kumaki. A form more concentrated on hindering an opponent from escape or attack
- could utilize this poison very well. Concentrate on using kumaki, botulinum, and
- possibly stun or buck head.
- MORPHITE
- Acquired from: Dreamleeches, Water Plane
- Causes: Sleep
- Cured by: Wake, kafe, insomnia
- Strategy: This poison is effective at keeping someone proned and possibly useless
- in a fight. There are multiple hurdles to overcome however. Kafe, insomnia, and
- metawake all render this poison much less useful. On top of that, damage will wake up
- a sleeper, so any form utilizing this poison should not end in a kick. Most useful in
- groups where someone else can apply some other form of pressure to secure a kill.
- NIRICOL
- Acquired from: Cockatrice, Hills near Glomdoring
- Causes: Blindness
- Cured by: Faeleaf, purity dust balance
- Strategy: This is a fantastic poison to use to hinder an opponent. Combine with kumaki,
- and another purity dust affliction, hook, and stomp to apply a lot of pressure to an
- opponent. In groups, this can be even more effective if you pick a high-priority target and
- use a form along those lines, as you will be almost able to keep them out of the fight and
- allow allies to target other enemies.
- PYROTOXIN
- Acquired from: Fire Mantis, Fire Plane
- Baby Manticore, Grey Moors
- Causes: Burns, damage
- Cured by: Liniment
- Strategy: Very limited use for shofangi, as we have no way to utilize the burns that result.
- Not a recommended poison.
- SAXITIN
- Acquired from: Sea Anemone, Inner Sea
- Causes: Pox
- Cured by: Purity dust
- Strategy: This poison is of extremely low use compared to other purity afflictions. Not
- recommended.
- SENSO
- Acquired from: Stoneghasts, Earth Plane
- Causes: Slickness
- Cured by: Soothing steam
- Strategy: Very useful if trying to stack ice balance afflictions. A large problem with senso
- is that we have very few ways to pressure the soothing steam balance, and beyond keeping
- someone prone, we have very few reasons currently to care about slickness. That said, it is
- a useful poison when teamed with a warrior. For added trouble, combine with shoflai to make it
- much more difficult for the enemy to apply any curative salves.
- TETRODIN
- Acquired from: Tree Frogs, Serenwilde
- Frogs, Tolborlla
- Causes: Health leech
- Cured by: Soothing steam
- Strategy: Possibly of use against non-guardian enemies in conjunction with a bard and senso.
- This could be a strategy to apply pressure to the steam balance and allow you to stack hindering.
- Stomp legs, bullstrength, and hook would be essential to this strategy.
